Traitors Arc Part VI: Secrets Unveiled
"Look! It was that Titan that beelined for the wall! That bastard was the one who was throwing the rocks!" Connie yelled,
"And we got more problems! Literally! Over twice the titans than the first wave are coming here fast!" Mina called,
"Damn it...it's all too perfect! Like some kind of strategy! We've been toyed with this whole time!" As soon as Nanaba said that, the Beast Titan let out an ear splitting roar.
The Titans redoubled their offensive as the Scouts jumped back off the tower. 'Shit...even with only two of our number down the cracks are already starting to show!' Ambros thought 'I'm short on gas too!' He orbited around a Titan before slicing it's nape out.
The titan fell backwards, onto a smaller tower off to the side of the main castle and collapsed it,
"Tower...isn't going to hold." Gelgar said, his voice soft like he was sleepy.
"My ODM is almost out of juice. What about you guys?" Nanaba asked
"Fresh out." Gelgar said, "Blades are gone too."
"My blades are finished, and my ODM is nearly out." Isabel said,
"Same." Evangelica said, Nanaba turned to Ambros, who nodded, affirming the same.
"How..many dead Titans did the eight of us rack up huh? Any of you know?" Gelgar said drearily.
"I wasn't counting." Evangelica chuckled,
"I don't think I did too badly." He smiled weakly, "Damn...what's a guy need to do...to get a drink around here?"
"This isn't time to joke around Gelgar-" Petra said, but gasped when he hung his head,
"Hey Nanaba...I never got to tell you...but I like you...alot." That was when a flying rock came and slammed into him. Completely smashing him to pieces.
"Gelgar!" Nanaba screamed, grief and rage flooding into her body, she went on a rampage, she dived onto a Titan, and shredded it's arm and nape before a 12-meter grabbed her. And it was like an ants nest opened up, titans swarmed her, biting and tearing into her,
"Wait- No- Please! Stop it! I'm so sorry daddy! I'll be a good girl! Father, please! No!" She screamed as a Titan bit her head off,
Petra tried to save Nanaba, it was then her ODM Gear sputtered, and died. 'What the-? I ran out of gas?!' Petra watched the ground rush up at her, 'No...way? I'm really going to die here?' A single tear rolled down her cheek as time seemed to slow,
'Captain...I never even got to tell you...how I felt.' She reached up at the moon, and suddenly a hand grabbed hers and yanked her back up right as a 10-meter titan snapped at her legs.
"Damn it!" Evangelica held her in her arms and threw Petra onto the roof of the castle. "You're one lucky girl. You know that?"
"Why'd you save me?" Petra asked, "You could've died!"
Evangelica looked at her confused, "We're comrades. It's what we do." Without warning, Evangelica wrapped the girl in a hug.
Mina threw up, collapsing in tears. "Oh god...Oh my god…" She repeated, over and over.
"Damn it!" Connie yelled, "Is that the only option we have? Wait until we're eaten?"
Petra, Ambros, Isabel, and Evangelica all scaled the tower with what little gas they had left. "Like hell!" Evangelica snarled, "I'm not going to sit here and cry like a bitch." She began taking apart her ODM gear and tossing it to people.
"What...are you doing?" Connie asked,
"What are we going to do with these?" Sasha asked,
"What do you think you idiots?!" Evangelica detached her ODM blades and handed one to Reiner, "We can throw the parts at the Titans, maybe slow them down. It's not like they're of any use without gas. The blades still work well enough though."
"..." Petra said nothing, but then started dismantling her own gear, and tossing the parts towards the Cadets.
"At least we can try to be worthy of the people who died for us." Historia said, taking up a blade.
"Oh don't give me that crap Krista! Don't you dare use their deaths as an excuse to fulfill your blaze of glory fantasies."
"Thats...not what I meant-"
"And you know you're not like Connie and the others either! They're here to give humanity a fighting chance. Deep down you only want the word 'hero' carved on your epitaph."
"Hey." Mina stepped between them, "That's enough."
"Oh move it lover-girl." Ymir was about to move her aside when a roar came from a forest.
"Hey...isn't that the Titan from the expedition?" Connie said,
"What's it doing here?" Mina moved to edge to watch. The Flare Titan roared as it grabbed a Titan by the head and slammed it over and over into the ground before crushing the nape. It moved on to another Titan, breathing flame straight at it and burning it alive, nape and all.
"Holy crap…" The Survey Corps watched in amazement as the Flare Titan took down Titan after Titan. It moved to a 15-meter and instantly severed it's nape - and head - with a single kick.
"Connie, where's that knife you had?" Ymir asked,
"Why do you need it?"
"Just give it."
"Fine…" Connie handed Ymir the knife, "What are you going to do with it?"
"Just give them some hell." Ymir shrugged,
"Ymir...do you have a plan?!" Petra said eagerly,
"If I do, we'll find out together." Ymir shrugged again. She turned to Krista and grabbed her shoulders. "Krista. Listen to me, I realize you've probably forgotten by now-" The Flare Titan threw a Titan against the castle, causing it to shudder, "-But since this may be the end. Try to remember: that oath the three of us made on the snowy mountain!" She sighed sadly as the Titans continued to siege the castle, slowly ripping it apart.
"I have no business telling you two how to live your life, it's not my place." She laughed quietly as dawn began to break, "So I guess this is really more of a hope…but Christa...and tell Christopher this too...live lives you can be proud of." She pulled away, and turned towards the battlements, "Make sure you two don't forget the promise we made." With that, she turned around, and jumped off the castle.
"Ymir!"
"I don't understand...it's impossible to scale the cliff without rope..." She looked at Ymir incredulously "How'd you get Daz down?"
"Sure." Ymir sighed, "If I have to trust someone, I guess it'd be you two." She said, "Lets promise," Ymir turned to them, "When the time comes, for me to reveal my secret to everyone." As the sun rose over the mountain she gripped their shoulders
"Promise that you guys are going to take back your names and live!"
1. 'Krista...Christopher...we're all the same. I cursed the day I was born. I had nothing and no one, alone, adrift. The world despised me for having the gall to exist, and I believed the only way I could set things right was by giving up my life.'She sliced her palm open with the knife 'But...what I wished for more than anything...was a second chance! You two gave me that! A chance to finally live for myself!'
1- She raised her hand in the air as she exploded into golden light, and a 5-meter titan with razor sharp claws and teeth materialized in mid-air.
The Jaw lept off the tower as it raked it's claws against the eyes of a 15 meter titan before springboarding and biting into the nape of a 13 meter.
"Woah...woah...someone tell me this is all a dream!" Connie said incredulously,
"Y-Ymir…" Historia stammered,
"Reiner." Evangelica said quietly…
"Yeah, I know...it was her." He replied,
The Flare titan grabbed the Jaw and threw it at a 12-meter, to which the jaw proceeded to rip it's head and nape to shreds before jumping back on the Flare and bouncing off onto an opposing 4-meter titan, completely ripping it apart.
The Flare grabbed another 15-meter and ripped off it's head before squashing it's nape underfoot. The body rolled over into the tower, causing Mina to fall.
"Mina!" Connie screamed as she fell, and it seemed like she would actually fall to her death, but the Flare Titan barrelled through several Titans and just barely managed to catch her.
She exhaled a sigh of relief, "T-Thanks…"
"D-Don't mention it." The Titan responded,
"Did...you just-" Mina looked at the Titan wildly, it only lifted her back up, to where Bertolt helped her up.
"Come on Krista. Tell the truth, you and Christopher were in on this, weren't you? You three were inseparable!" Reiner accused,
Krista only looked back at Ymir's Jaw form. "I...really didn't know…and the three of us…were always so close too."
"More importantly, who do you think is behind that Titan?" Connie wondered,
Historia said nothing, she may have not known about Ymir, but she knew exactly who was behind the other Titan. 'You guys…are idiots.' She smiled tensely.
"None of us ever suspected a thing…" Reiner muttered, "For all we know, she could be one of them."
Ymir lept back on the tower, but a 14-meter titan caught her by a hanging arm and pulled her back down. She sliced the titan in the face, but another 12-meter jumped on top of her.
Alto grabbed a 13-meter and threw it at the 12-meter on top of Ymir, knocking it off her, and Ymir jumped back up but was grabbed by the leg. She barely managed to hang on, until the bricks she was holding began to come lose and she let go.
"What the-!" Mina exclaimed,
"What is that idiot doing?!" Connie asked in amazement "Don't tell me she's worried about the tower of all things!"
"That's right...neither of them had to stay or come here..but they did...they're fighting for us." Historia stood up on the tower, "Don't you fucking dare die on me Ymir! Not in a hell-hole like this! Are you trying to be a hero?! Guess what, the boat to heaven has already gone! And you missed it! And you!" She looked at the Flare Titan, "What the hell are you doing?! Don't try to play hero, you damn monster! Tear this tower down if need be! You know you're going to hell so no need to try and avoid it!"
Ymir's Jaw acted, flipping over she threw brick after brick at the titans. The Flare knocked entire chunks and sent the bricks in sweeping arcs, knocking back multiple titans at a time, but the tower slowly began to fall as the lack of support and the weight of the titans began to stack up and the tower began to dangerously lean to the side, Ymir climbed up,
"Want to live? Grab me!" The cadets and Scouts eagerly climbed on to her hair, and Ymir lept onto the Flare Titan's shoulders right as the tower collapsed, burying most of the Titans in the rubble.
The Cadets and soldiers were thrown off as the Jaw Titan jumped off the flare's shoulders. At the same time, several Titans emerged from the rubble.
"Oi! Uglies! Finish the damn job!" The Jaw and Flare nodded, and charged off into the titans, but then things began to go wrong. First, the Flare made a wrong step, and a titan grabbed it and pulled it off it's feet causing it to collapse on top of the Jaw, then Titans immediately moved to swarm them and began eating at their flesh. A 5-meter titan ripped off the jaw's arm. A 10 meter began chewing on the Flare's toes.
"No…" Mina stepped forward, "No. No. No. No." A realization dawned as she began to step forward, 'No. It can't be!'
"Mina!" Reiner ran after her as she ran towards the Titans.
'I swear to god...If you're in there you idiot!' Mina kept running despite the calls of the Cadets and soldiers. Suddenly, a 5-meter titan stepped in front of her, a wide grin on it's face.
Without warning, the Flare Titan moved it's right arm and crushed the Titan flat, exposing it's half-eaten nape squirming. And it finally burst, revealing the face of Alto inside.
'Oh…' Was all Mina could think as a 3-meter Titan descended on the weakened titan shifter.
Without warning, Reiner pushed Mina aside and jumped at the titan, tackling it. Right then, Eren slashed out the Titan's nape.
"Alright! My first titan-" He looks at his surroundings, and his face immediately falls. "...kill." He looks at Alto lying in the mess of Titan remnants. And Ymir being pulled out of her Titan by Historia.
"M-Mina…" Alto gasped,
A tear rolled down her cheek as she grasped his hand, "I'm here, Chris."
"M..My name isn't...Christopher Holt." He smiles weakly. "My name...is Alto Burke."
The Scouts surrounded the pair as Mina cradled a gravely injured Alto who was fading into unconscious.
"I...can't believe it...he is...she is...they're titans?" Armin stammered.
