Chapter 1: It Begins
A/N: Yo wys. If anyone knows me from my danmachi series then hello there. But if you don't, I had long since read Mahouka koukou no rettousei fanfics, predominantly Tatsuya x Mayumi ones, thus I decided that since I have gotten into a habit of making fanfics, I may as well try one here. Unfortunately, my brain does not have the capacity to fully comprehend the basic structures of the series, therefore, my series will not be as scientific anime wise as it should. I can't go on talking about the Eidos and how magic has developed over the years. However, there is a twist.
Year 2095, Through the discovery of supernatural abilities that could be incurred and called forth by the usage of psions from an extra dimension, the fantastical concept of "magic" was born. Specialists were produced and first spotted as early as 1999, although in a primitive state, it started a chain reaction of which lead to a result of compatibility of usage to something called 'elements'. While, research was ongoing, due to disputes of Russia and China over refugees, soon a war of resources commenced and thus, World War 3 began. With detrimental affects all over the world, no major nation could stay neutral. Societal expectations and norms began to change along with the war. To combat nuclear war and other extreme conditions, magicians were finally allowed to join into wars to manage the borders.
Through this, the establishments of magicians rose, as did their numbers, however the stigmatization of magicians being Weapons meant that the outlook behaviour of them changed drastically. While magicians ruled over, by 2079 (Tatsuya's birth), Russia absorbed Ukraine and Belarus consequently forming the New Soviet Union, China (as the Great Asian Union) now governed over the northern parts of Burma, Vietnam, and Laos as well as the Korean peninsula; India and Iran devoured various countries in Central Asia (Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan), and in South Asia (Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka), to construct the Indo-Persia Union; Following the annexation of Canada and Latin America down to Panama, the USA is now a country named the United States of North America; The European Union split into eastern and western halves along the Franco-German border; Australia chooses de facto seclusion; Half of the countries of Africa are dissolved; Aside from Brazil, South America is divided into small countries where governments do not have much reach beyond their own borders.
After the birth of Yotsuba Tatsuya the discovery of his ability of decomposition and Regrowth is heavily looked down upon as an incomplete magician. Miya his mother and Maya her sister, began to experiment upon Tatsuya, using a new 'Mental Design Interference.' to additionally bring magic calculation area within his body, however, the heavy strain on the body causes the mind to lose control of emotions thus, becoming heavily suppressed. However, the result turns out less than what was predicted, signifying Tatsuya's magical capacity is even lower than his in-birth abilities.

Upon seeing the state of her son, Miya first decided to leave him some emotions, however, upon being convinced by her husband and sister that the pressure on her body would be less than ideal and thatshe would eventually shorten her life span, she wouldn't be able to watch over her daughter, the person who actually matters, she reluctantly, rips away allof Tatsuya's emotions. Thus leaving an empty husk of a human, he is appointed as the guardian of Miyuki.
Current Time
After the invasion of Okinawa, the rumours of a 'Maheshvara' spread, an unknown God-like magician with a demonic right hand that reduced all into dust and a divine left hand, that restored everything. Since Miya didn't end up giving Tatsuya emotions, she is physically in a better condition albeit in a fragile state like before. However, she doesn't need a wheelchair and is healthy enough to walk, furthermore she hasn't lost much of her own emotions. As a result of this, the connection between Miyuki and Tatsuya is not as strong as it would've been, although she retains great respect and admiration for him, as she had overheard the time he had protected her on the beach whilst she was napping. It does not extend towards a romantic development as she is completely satisfied with a 'distant sibling relationship'. Miya however, maintains a great sense of guilt, watching every time her son does anything at all. Never in a single moment in her life does she not regret conducting the experiment, she could only wish to go back and change it all.
Unfortunately, not even magic responds to just wishes, so she spends her days watching him grow without a shred of excessive humanity within him. She would've originally died in Okinawa but by being revived from a near death state by her son, she realises that she cannot simply kill herself as the life now was granted to her due to the same magical capabilities her son was looked down upon for. She accepts watching over the two of them as penance for her sins. She has tried to forget it, but the image of his smile from before the surgery flashes by her mind every time she considered giving up on Tatsuya. How long had it been since he had genuinely smiled at anyone? Gods how badly did she miss them, yet, she was stuck in this cycle, on one hand she watched her daughter grow, strong and healthy, with a steady relation with others, friends, living a normal child's life. Well respected within the Yotsuba family, she is admired by all for her strong yet gentle personality. Pride always filled her whenever her energetic daughter, wanted to be spoilt, or brought home an accomplished medal or certificate, like any mother would feel. Everytime she calls out to her as "okaa sama," she feels happiness swell inside her, as the evident love for her becomes evident.
On the other hand, her 15 year old son, equally as young as her daughter grows, his body strong. A combat ability which far surpasses even adults, knowledge which transcends many boundaries, yet he is still at the tender age of teenage-hood he lacks complete normalcy. He is not lacking in friends, however, he maintains distance with all even Miya, at the time he should be having fun, he spends it fulfilling his duty and watching over his sister. When he should be dating girls, he spends it either working on progressing magic or completing missions for the army. He never asks to be spoilt, and it takes Miya a couple days even a week to find out that he had accomplished well academically or physically from external sources. His cold/ non-existent personality is often mistaken for maturity that goes beyond someone of his age. He is poorly treated within the Yotsuba by many, as an artificial magician, and looked down on. Upon hearing the cold "haha-ue." she responds everytime, begging to see a smile on his face, yet faces disappointment at the same indifferent expression.
Her children are her balance, she takes comfort within her daughter's cheery and loving nature, while she watches her son protecting them with everything he has. Not as a son but as a guardian. Today, her children are about to start high school. Miyuki had expressed her desire to go to a normal high school, Tatsuya had accepted full ownership and responsibility of protecting Miyuki, although Miya had told him that she would share the burden, he vehemently refused saying,
"This is my job as a guardian, I cannot let Miya sama face any issues due to my own incompetence." It should be mentioned, during Yotsuba gatherings and meetings, the distance between Miya and Tatsuya seems even bigger, in front of the Yotsubas, Tatsuya became a simple Guardian not the child of the Miya.
Thus they all changed their names to Shiba temporarily, to not face any issues.
Miya's characterisation
Yotsuba Miya can be described as a beautiful person. In outward features, she is certainly what someone would call a beauty, however, her body is frail due to her trying to assist her sister who was kidnapped, as she had turned the experiences into simple data, her sister had some type of grudge against her, however, despite the distance between them, the act of seeing her sister in so much pain due to the failure of her son's experiment, she has become slightly nicer towards her in a passive manner. Miya's husband is a man working at FLT, who had decided to marry a second woman. She personally couldn't care less, as she more or less knew the reason to be Tatsuya, it didn't mean her husband didn't love her, it just meant that he was coping with things in a different way and she would accept that. Miya acts rather cold to all people, except her husband, sister, son and daughter. Although, she would act indifferent to her son as well, after the Okinawa incident, she saw that he had a strange dedication to protect her even though he was not programmed to do anything for Miya.
She felt that perhaps, Tatsuya's simple nature as a human encouraged him to protect her, since she was his mother and so she decided that there was no point in trying to push him away since it changed basically nothing.
A/N: Alright guys, that chapter 1. I decided to give an overview of how things right now are from a historic point of view and show the differences in my story.
Miya is still alive, no she won't act like a cold empress, that may seem OOC, but this isn't canon so I got free reign. Miyuki is from the beginning not very obsessed with Tatsuya, so that I can steadily work things between Tatsuya and Mayumi.
Things will remain the same until, the thesis competition after which I will change the story to go my way. Hope you enjoy this character profile and look forward to the chapter that will soon come out. For those who don't know my chapters are typically 10,000 words long, I don't know if that will be the case with MKR as well, but we'll have to see.
