Meanwhile, Sonic is being a ball by hiding his limbs, hiding with the other sports equipment in the garage. Most of it was Sophia's since she plays both volleyball and soccer in school. And she used to play several other sports with her dad when she was younger.

"Okay, I'm a ball. Just a normal ball. I'm blending in like a ball. Shh. Stop talking," He reveals his eyes, keeping out for the drone. "No, you stop talking. Be quiet, Sonic. YOU be quiet, Sonic! Oh, I hope they aren't scanning me with X-rays. I had a kind of embarrassing lunch."

Another drone comes into the attic and also starts scanning. They get even closer to him from both sides. "Don't freak out. Don't freak out. Don't freak out." They get inches away from him. "Don't freak out. Don't freak out. I'm freaking out!" He rolls out of the way before the lasers could touch him. He opens the ladder and then rolls down the stairs. "Why don't you have your staircase carpeted?!" He hits the kitchen table, alerting both Robotnik and Tom.

"Compared to what I-"

He stops once the noise is over. "...Old pipes."

"Yeah," Robotnik isn't buying it, though. "Probably just the house settling. Nothing to see here!" He pretends to leave before he pushes past Tom and rushes inside to locate the noise.

"Hey!" Tom shouts after him just as Sophia arrives home by car, no one noticing her arrival since they're already both inside. She stops the car near the mailbox and steps out, staring in confusion at the truck in front of her.

"We've got the cake, the banners, the guest list...Soph? Soph!" Maeve calls out from her phone. Sophia puts it to her ear, still eyeing the truck.

"Yeah, that's great. Uh, I'll text you in a bit. I've gotta see what's up inside my house." She squints at the camera on top of the truck.

"What are you talking ab-"

Sophia hangs up, putting her phone in her pocket. "If this is the electric company, I must be older than I thought..." She gets back in the car, going up the driveway.

The two men look...to see a raccoon eating at Tom's cake. Robotnik glances around skeptically.

"Here's the thing...I'm never wrong."

"Well," Tom pats Robotnik's shoulder. "First time for everything, I guess." He walks over to the counter as the raccoon leaves through the dog door. "Would you like some cake? I hear raccoons have the cleanest mouths of any animal that routinely eats garbage."

Robotnik chuckles and gives Tom a blank look. He turns away, stopping when he finds something. He's staring right at Sonic's blue quill, which he pulls out to show Tom. "Look at that. I was right," A sinister smirk is on his face. "Note the lack of surprise," He waves a hand in front of his face. Then he looks angry. "Shall we try this again?"

He whistles Ride of the Valkyries and a flying drone slowly approaches Tom. Sonic watches from underneath the counter. The drone arms itself, pointing at Tom. He looks to Dr. Robotnik in disbelief.

"I'm going to give you five seconds to tell me where it is," He strokes the quill with his fingers.

"Dad?"

Tom freezes at the female voice as he hears his daughter entering the house...just coming home from school. Sonic gasps at the sight of her, his heart racing in fear.

"Oh no," Both he and Tom murmur in unison. He had forgotten that she had a half day because of the power outage, and that she would be home soon. But never did he think that she'd have to step into this! Both of them didn't want her to get involved because who knows what this crazy guy would do to her? She steps forward, looking at her phone while texting her friend.

"Dad, I'm home from school. By the way, there's a giant black truck outside, did you-" She looks up and then sees Robotnik with the drone pointed at her father, freezing in place. "Call over the electric company...?"

"You must be the daughter he talked about, with your outdated and meager piece of technology," Robotnik smirks knowingly at her and Tom gives her the signal to leave. She looks at him unsure, but he pinches his nose and then wiggles his pinky. That was their code for 'leave me behind, I got this.' Because he's a cop, he taught his daughter several things in case something like this happens. Not the exact same thing, but something similar. Sonic also gestures for her to leave, but she couldn't see him obviously.

Sophia slowly steps backwards, preparing to escape as she turns around, but Robotnik grabs her arm and pulls her back, grabbing her into a hold. "And what's your name?" He questions with a big grin.

"Let go of me!" She growls out, trying to break free. "Who the heck are you and why are you pointing that...that thing at my dad?!"

"The name is Dr. Robotnik. Your father is hiding something from me, and he refuses to have the brain cells to give it to me. So maybe he needs a little...incentive to get his tiny brain working." Another drone comes in and points its weapons at her, and she gives a look of fright. "Five."

"I don't know what you're talking about, leave my daughter out of this," Tom growls at him.

"Four," He tightens his grip on the girl, who struggles in his hold.

"Dad, what is going on?!" She demands while squeezing her eyes shut.

"Hey, tough guy, I'm a cop. And you're threatening an officer," He holds up his badge. "And holding his daughter hostage."

"How can you threaten somebody who never existed?" He keeps his hold on the girl while approaching Tom. "Three. Come on! Rack your brain! You might be able to come up with some lame excuse to go on living and to save your meaningless offspring." Sophia grits her teeth at the insult before she glances to her right and sees a frying pan on the counter right next to her. She looks between the drone in front of her and the pan. Neither it or Robotnik seem to be paying attention to her. "In two..."

Tom glances at the drone and then at his daughter. He notices that she's distracted by something and he bites back a smile because that's her thinking face.

"One!"

Sonic rushes out of hiding. "Wait! Don't hurt them!"

"AAAH!" Robotnik screams at the sight of him. Sophia grabs the frying pan while he's distracted quickly and swings, hitting it against the drone. It bumps into the other one and they crash into the staircase.

"Whoa!" Sonic blinks at her in awe. Tom then punches Robotnik in the face before Sophia swings around and hits him in the head with the frying pan, knocking him onto the ground. She sighs in relief and Tom smirks at her.

"You're a cop's daughter, alright."

"Was there any ever doubt?" She smiles at him, spinning the frying pan in her hand. "And I gotta say, Dad, that punch was so awesome! Five seconds with the guy, and I wanted to do the same..." She glares down at Robotnik.

"You were awesome too, Sunshine!" Sonic beams up at her and she finally gets a good look at him. Her eyes widen and her mouth slightly opens, dropping her frying pan in shock.

"...Umm...talking blue hedgehog in our kitchen, crazy guy on the floor, two drones pointed at us...thanks for the distraction, whoever you are," She glances between him and Tom. "Uh, I have a question, Dad. No wait, I have ALL of the questions!"

Before either of them could respond, another drone flies in, as it had sensed that something was wrong with Robotnik. It scans the two Wachowskis, looks at Robotnik on the floor, and deems them threats, and Sophia's frying pan only confirms it.

Tom grabs her hand and Sonic's as the drone starts firing at them. Sophia jumps for the ground as they crawl to avoid fire. The lasers start breaking everything and knocks some stuff over. They scramble to find a place to hide.

"This feels excessive!"

Sonic notices the drone and then gets an idea. The drone scans for them while the two hide. "Stay behind me," Tom whispers before noticing that Sonic isn't behind them.

"Where'd he go?" Sophia whispers as they look around. They peek behind the table to see Sonic climbing onto the shelf behind the drone. Tom shakes his head no and Sophia mouths the same thing, waving her hands in denial. Sonic just nods and gives them a smug look. Then he jumps onto the drone.

"Hiyah!" He's sort of controlling it as the two duck their heads again. "Don't worry, I got it right where I want it!" He and the drone start flying around as they scramble for cover. Meanwhile, Sonic is having the time of his life. "Can you believe Amazon is gonna deliver packages with these things?!"

"I'd prefer the old-fashioned way than this!" Sophia mutters to her dad, covering her head with her arms as lasers go off over the table.

The drone tries to shake the hedgehog off of itself. The family pictures get hit, glass flying onto the floor.

"This was a horrible plan! What was I thinking?!" Sonic exclaims as Tom sees something. He gestures for Sophia to lay low. "I'm gonna puke!" The drone throws him off onto the ground. Tom grabs Ozzy's dog dish and then smacks the drone, destroying it. Sophia rushes over to the hedgehog, who's a little dizzy from the spinning.

"Come on!" He scoops up Sonic and runs off, Sophia following after him. "We gotta get out of here!"

"Oh, don't tell me that's all you got!" Sonic eggs on as they rush down the stairs. "I'm just getting started! Let me know if you wanna go round two with the blue!"

"Yeah, I don't think we'd win that fight," Sophia throws open the driver's back door and jumps in. Thankfully she parked right next to her dad's car and not behind it. Tom tosses Sonic in the passenger seat and gets into his truck. He starts it, backs away, and then drives off as quickly as possible.

Agent Stone arrives in his own car, followed by several others. He opens the door, staring after the truck. He glances inside the house, while noting that Dr. Robotnik's van is still outside. He rushes inside and sees Dr. Robotnik on the ground.

"Doctor! Are you okay?" He helps up his boss. "I saw a guy and a girl race out of here and thought-"

"That you should stop them?" Agent Stone clamps his mouth shut. "Open your mouth...and say you thought that you should stop them."

"No, I thought that maybe I should check to see if you were okay-"

Robotnik grabs him by the mouth and pulls him forward. "You know what's hard about being the smartest person in the world?"

"Everyone else seems stupid," Stone muffles to him.

"Stupid, yes! Way to go! You got that one!" He lets go of the agent, wiping his hands on Stone's jacket. "Whatever this creature is, it's our job to secure it, neutralize it, uncover the source of its power. And if it resists...we take it apart...piece by piece," He puts his glasses on, but they're crooked from what Tom and Sophia did to him. "See what makes it tick...Stone?"

"Doctor?"

"Call Optical Illusions," He takes off the glasses. "Tell 'em I need new frames," He tosses them away. "They know what kind I like," He starts to leave and he turns to Stone. "Oh, and bring that quill. I have...plans for the Wachowski daughter that will show her...you don't hit Dr. Robotnik with a FRYING PAN! I just need a little time..."

"Yes, Doctor," Agent Stone nods and takes the quill with him while Robotnik leaves the house.
