Sonic speeds over to Sophia, patting her cheek. "Sunshine, wake up!" He rapidly slaps her cheeks together and then he gasps as he sees the scar on her face, but it has the pink glowing substance over it. "What...is that...?"
Tom swerves to get the harpoon loose, and Robotnik activates his drone car's winch and it pulls Tom's truck. Sonic turns to Tom angrily.
"You know what? I was wrong about you. You're not the Donut Lord at all. You're more like...the Jerk Lord! And now Sophia's hurt!"
Sophia slowly opens her eyes, which he doesn't notice as she slowly sits up. "Have you noticed the harpoon stuck in our dash?!" Tom exclaims at him, glancing over his shoulder at the window and at his daughter. He watches her touch the scar forming, and she pulls back her hand, shocked to see the pink substance mixed with some blood.
"What...?" Then the pink liquid is absorbed through her cut, and she winces in pain. Sonic turns to her in relief.
"Soph, you're okay!"
She glances towards the front and opens her mouth in shock. "Who is shooting a harpoon at the car?!" She looks behind her and sees the other car while Sonic jumps back into the passenger seat. Tom slams on the gas pedal and the harpoon starts to get loose. He slams the truck against the traffic barrier, causing Sonic to fall out of the truck since he's not wearing a seatbelt. He lands on the windshield.
"Sonic!" The two exclaim, and he now looks very upset staring at them.
"I was forced from my home!" He starts giving off blue energy like he did at the baseball field. "Your home is perfect, and you're leaving it! Why would you do that?"
Sophia opens her mouth in disbelief as she stares at him. Tom is also shocked at him. "Your body!" He calls out and Sonic looks at himself in a panic.
"Oh, no, no, no, no, not again!"
"Again?" Sophia furrows her eyebrows in confusion. She glances away in thought and gasps. "Wait...so you were behind the power outage?! That's why they're after you!" She narrows her eyes in anger. "And now because of you, we're being chased!"
"It was on accident! I-I was just lonely and upset earlier," He tries to explain to her. "And don't change the subject, you're leaving your home and didn't tell me!"
"Hey, guys," Tom tries to get their attention, but they don't hear him.
"It wasn't your business to know yet!" She clenches her fists. "I told you how I was feeling because I felt like I could trust you!"
"But apparently not trust me enough to give me a vital detail! Do you know how that makes me feel?"
"Hey!" Tom snaps his fingers, but still nothing.
"Just because you spied in on us for 10 years doesn't mean I know you enough to tell you everything!" She argues back and he gasps in disbelief, glaring at her.
"Yeah, well, there are some things I don't tell you either! How about that?!"
"Guys!" Tom calls out and they turn to him in irritation at the same time.
"What?!"
"Hold on!" He warns them.
"Why?" Sonic asks him, still glowing.
"Because I'm gonna do this!" He slams on the gas pedal to get the harpoon out of the car and it works. Sophia is thrusted backwards into her chair while Sonic goes flying. She turns around and looks out the window.
"Sonic!"
He curls up into a ball and runs into the drone car, releasing an electromagnetic pulse that knocks the drone car onto the side. "Dad, turn the car around now!" She urges him and he does so, drinking back up to the drone car. He stops it and Sophia scrambles out of the car, running up to the scene.
"Sonic!" Tom calls out for him from his spot.
"Sonic!" Sophia cries out in concern before they both see him in his ball form. "Sonic?"
He uncurls out of the ball and the girl slowly steps up, her heart hammering in fear. He slowly gets up and she sighs in relief. He groans, holding his head and swaying around. "Guess I had a bonus life..." He notices the drone car and gasps, speeding past Sophia. "Oh, yeah, baby! Sonic, one. Big tank, zero," Then he starts flossing and the girl laughs at him. "I'm sorry. Did we get that on camera?"
"How are you not dead?" Tom asks him incredibly from the car.
"I have no idea! Do you see me dancing?"
"Yes, I saw you dancing," He confesses while Sophia runs up to him. She bends down and hugs Sonic, to his surprise.
"Thank god you're okay!"
"Of course I'm okay," His eyes soften, hugging her back. Tom smiles a bit at the two. "Sorry I made you worry."
"Hm?" She blushes as she pulls away, feeling a bit awkward now since they were fighting not too long ago... "Ahh...y-yeah, I guess you did now I think about it..." He smiles at her bashfully and then he turns to the drone car.
"Is that all you got?!"
"No, but thank you for asking. And for also giving me a weakness that I can exploit later on..." Robotnik sends out another drone as a red eye glows from the smoke.
"Uh oh."
"Sonic! Sophia! Get back in the truck!" Tom shouts at the duo. Sonic takes Sophia bridal style, rushing over to the open door.
"You go! I'll catch up," He places her in the car and she looks down at him.
"Be careful, Sonic," She bends down to kiss his forehead and he chuckles.
"Y-You know me, Sunshine, I will!" He tells her with a nervous wave and she closes the door. Tom takes off in the truck. Sonic zips over and opens the passenger right door, swinging over it and climbing back in. He closes the door and a smaller car drone deploys from the damaged drone. "I think that tank just had a baby."
"What is it with this guy?!" Sophia asks in annoyance as she looks back to see it. The smaller drone car arms itself and starts shooting homing mines at the truck. Sonic looks past the girl and watches as it approaches the car.
"Incoming!"
Tom swerves to the left to avoid it, and the mine goes towards a minivan ahead of them.
"It's my turn!" A boy and a girl are fighting over a tablet. The father is driving while the other is on her phone, putting on makeup.
"You just had one! It's mine!"
"Hey, stop fighting or I'm taking that thing away!" The father scolds them.
"Yeah, right, Dad."
The mine attaches itself to the bottom of the car and gives out an electromagnetic pulse, sending the car spinning. They all scream until it finally comes to a stop. The truck drives past them with Sophia peeking out from her window, waving back at them apologetically.
"Sorry! But hey, this will be a story to look back and laugh on," She smiles sheepishly with a shrug as she crawls back into the car. The mother's lipstick is across her face while the other three are traumatized, panting. The boy holds out the tablet to his father silently.
Sonic climbs into the back of the truck. "Where are you going?" Tom looks over his shoulder.
"Just drive the car. I'll take care of this. And if I don't make it, just ditch me. You both seem good at that."
Sophia sighs wearily, a hand over her forehead. Tom looks at her from the rearview mirror, noticing that she's really distraught over her fight with Sonic. The hedgehog watches as the mines fire and he jumps, running towards them. He rolls and takes one, throwing it at another one to make it explode. He then lands on two more, skating on them as he finally gets to the drone car while holding the last one. He looks right into the camera.
"Hey, everybody! Welcome back to my livestream!" Sonic announces, annoying Robotnik. "Today, we're destroying robots! Step one, errap!" He attaches the mine to the drone car, jumping off and running back towards the truck. The electromagnetic pulse causes the drone car to be thrown off course and crash. "Yes, we did it!" Sonic cheers from the truck.
Then another robot emerges from the crash, speeding past a car and wheeling over to them. "We did not do it. Who is this guy?"
"Crazy, is who he is!" Sophia states as she glances over her shoulder.
"Ever wonder where your tax dollars are going?" Robotnik asks smugly.
"My turn," Tom unbuckles himself from the car. "Here, just keep us going straight." Sonic crawls over to the back and over to the driver's seat. "I put us in cruise control." He and Sonic switch, the hedgehog laughing.
"Ha ha, I feel just like Vin Diesel!"
Tom reaches for a flashlight. "It's all about family, Tom."
"Soph, open the door," He tells her and she props it open. The robot gains spikes from its wheel and catches up to them. Sophia holds onto her dad's arm while he's hanging onto the door. The robot comes over and he swings, but misses.
"Quick suggestion. Roll up into a ball and smash him with your body," Sonic calls out.
"Unfortunately for you, we don't have that advantage," Sophia tells him and suddenly gets a headache, gritting her teeth as she puts a hand on her temple.
"You okay?" Tom asks her and she shakes her head, snapping out of it.
"Yeah."
Sonic swerves and Tom barely manages to hold onto Sophia's grip. "Whoa! Where'd you learn how to drive?"
"Here. In this truck," Sonic is looking at a manual. "It's happening as we speak!"
He swerves to avoid the robot, but Tom still can't hit it with how far he is. "I can't reach it! Bring him in closer!"
"What?" The hedgehog wonders in confusion.
"Bring it in closer! Hit the brakes!"
"Oh, you mean this one?" He hits the gas pedal and they go faster. Sophia stumbles a bit before she takes off her headband, looking at how sharp the ends are.
"The other brakes!" Tom shouts at him.
"Right to accelerate, left to brake!" Sophia instructs and he does so, knocking Tom back a bit. The robot hits the door and Sophia throws her headband at the wheel. It gets caught, causing the spikes to break off as the wheel starts to get a flat.
"Yeah!" Tom cheers and swings the flashlight, knocking it onto the road. "That was great, Soph, thanks. Whoo!"
He climbs back inside the truck.
"OHHHHH!" Robotnik exclaims from inside the truck. "GIVE ME A BIG, FAT BREAK!"
The lens from the wheel robot turns into a tiny helicopter, which flies up to the truck.
"Oh no, what now?" Sophia asks in dismay upon seeing it.
"Aww, this one is cute," Sonic comments at it. "Let's keep him."
Then the helicopter starts slicing right through the truck. "Ahh!" It works its way around the window frame.
"Oh, come on!" Tom states in disbelief.
"How could something so adorable be so terrible?" Sonic couldn't help but ask as they watch. The helicopter is almost done as Tom tries to swat it away, to no success. Sonic looks out the window. "You've got car insurance, right?"
The whole window frame of the truck goes flying off, and they all scream. Sophia watches in shock as the thing crashes onto the road. The helicopter flies over to Sonic, who grabs it.
"Buzz off." He yanks off the body, but the core of it starts beeping in his hand like a bomb. "That doesn't sound good."
"No, beeping is bad! Get rid of it!" Tom urges as Sonic tries to shake it off.
"I'm trying!"
Sophia looks over his shoulder and examines his hand. "Is this thing made with gorilla glue?!"
"Throw it out the wind—throw it anywhere!" Tom exclaims at him.
He groans as he stands up, trying to shake it off and failing. "I can't get it off!"
"All right, I'm pulling over," Tom moves what's left of the car over to the grass while the hedgehog is still trying to get the thing off. When he stops the car, Sonic speeds out of it, running around while trying to remove it. The two get out of the car as he thinks he got it, but it's stuck on his head.
"Did I get it?"
"Nope," Tom points to his forehead as the two run over. He's holding a handkerchief while Sonic yelps, trying to shake it off. "Here, hold still," Tom removes the bomb using the handkerchief and then throws it hard.
"It's going. It's going...it's still here."
Tom looks at his hand to see that the bomb is on it, attempting to shake it off. Sophia removes it and throws it, only to get it stuck on her hand.
"Ahh!"
Sonic speeds over to her, grabs the bomb and a stick, and speeds over to a rock. He tries prying the thing off with the stick. "Get off me."
It works as it's stuck to the large rock now and he laughs victoriously. "Ha ha! Nailed it!"
Sophia listens in on the ticking and panics. "Sonic, get away from-"
The bomb explodes, sending them all flying. The two Wachowskis land side by side in the dust, though the landing did hurt.
"Oww..." Sophia murmurs, sitting up slowly and holding her head. Not only did her side hurt, but she was still having this headache somehow...
Tom looks up ahead and sees Sonic unconscious on the ground. "Sonic!" Sophia looks up and gasps, scrambling onto her feet. They rush over to him, and the man gently turns him over. "No, no...no, no, no."
"Sonic...!" Sophia whispers sadly, blinking back tears. He presses his ear against Sonic's chest. He looks around as they're the only ones there. And even if someone did come by, it'd be hard to explain a blue talking hedgehog.
"Hey. Come on. You're all right. Wake up. Wake up." He looks towards his daughter and pulls her in for a one-armed hug to comfort her. "He's gonna be okay, Soph. We just...we just need to get some help," He whispers to her.
"W-Where are we gonna find help all the way out here?" She sniffles a bit, wiping away her tears with her arm.
"Your mom...yeah! Your mom, she's close by! We can drive there and ask her to help. She's a vet, so she's gotta know something, right?" He gets onto his feet, holding Sonic and they both rush over to the car.
She just hopes that he's right on this...
Robotnik is breathing and panting heavily from his loss against the three, Agent Stone watching him.
"Did we get 'em? Oh. No, there they are. They're real survivors, those three."
Something in Robotnik snaps at his failure to capture them, slowly looking over to him. "Can we have a moment?" They both go over to a wall. "Pin yourself to the wall."
Agent Stone puts a hand over his neck, doing so. Robotnik then presses his face very close to his. "You know, I won't miss you when you're gone. Human beings are unreliable and stupid, and I care very little about them. My machines are diligent, relentless. They're everything to me!"
Then he notices something from Agent Stone's jacket. He reaches out and pulls it up to see the blue quill glowing. He pulls it out for inspection.
"Omoshiroi," Robotnik speaks the word interesting in Japanese. He presses the tip to his tongue, and it shocks him, giving him a violent twitch to the head. "Hmm?" He tries giving it to Agent Stone, making him confused.
"Seems that with each passing day, this amount of power gives me possibilities that only that creature can give me! Speaking of creatures...the effects of that girl he's so disgustingly attached to should be sinking in..."
