Legendary Heroes of Townsville

(Summary so far: Mojo was defeated in battle (most likely cause he was throwing), and the girls have finally gained the respect and attention of all the Townsville citizens! The current Mayor has told them he'd like to see them at a ceremony being held for the girls' heroic actions, much to HIM's annoyance. Katrina managed to warn them of his and Abysmal's arrival. Meanwhile, Mojo has constructed many robots to send into Townsville in case the girls' hero status is to ever take an 'unessecary dip'. Today, we bring you chapter 7 of Legendary Heroes of Townsville! As I'd usually say: 'Enjoy'!).

Chapter 7

As you probably saw in the previous chapter's summary (A/N: Oh now we're breaking the fourth wall?), the girls were asked to attend the Mayor's most recent ceremony. They were a little nervous about this, but the Professor told them 'Just stay calm during the thing, and you'll have nothing to worry about; I'll even come with if need be'. They all nodded in understanding, and the Professor decided to drive them over to Town Hall; once they got there, they exited in formal attire (A/N: Think 'Octi Gone' for a reference). The Mayor was waiting for them outside the building.

"Glad to see you three could make it. But... you needn't look so formal." He told them.

"Our Professor insisted we did this." Blossom explained.

"But now that you told us I'm never wearing this thing again!" Buttercup said.

"That aside... come along with me. We've yet to start, for we still have time." The heroes looked at each other and shrugged; then followed him in. "You probably are aware that changes have been made, given you've probably been alive for... quite some time now."

"Mhm... the old Mayor would never let the Town Hall look this good." Blossom admitted.

"By the way, that brings up a question: what was he like?"

Bubbles stepped in to answer. "Well... first off, he was a really short, bald, nice man who always did his job!"

"No he didn't!" Buttercup said. "She's right about the first three things but dead wrong about the last!"

"Don't push the matter any further Sourpuss. Mr. Mayor, although I hate to honestly side with Buttercup much to Bubbles' annoyance, they're both right, but Buttercup's even 'righter'."

Bubbles whined.

"But one redeeming quality I can tell you that he had, was a great sense of showing care for Townsville! He'd always call us for every emergency... though I really do mean 'every emergency'; monsters, villains, crooks n' criminals, he'd even sometimes call us in to open a pickle jar."

"He actually enjoys pickles that much?"

"You'd be surprised, he once even gave away the position of Mayor to our enemy Princess Morbucks!" Buttercup started.

"That sounds stupid."

"Over a room chock-full of sweets..." Blossom finished.

"That sounds ignorant."

"Well he may be stupid, BUT! He still holds a place in our hearts." Bubbles with the niceness again. "Right girls?"

"Yep." They both answered.

*Alarm*

"Oh that's the ceremonial timer! C'mon outside!" The girls followed the Mayor outside; well... more like they 'carried him outside'. "Oof... oh thanks for that you three. I can tell we'll be happy having you around."

They smiled and blushed at that.

Outside in front of almost everyone (who bothered to show up at least...) the Mayor stood up to the mic on the stand and tapped it, bringing everyone's attention towards him and the girls. "People of Townsville, who bothered to show up... *ahem* I've started this great ceremony to announce the return of our ancient heroes... The Powerpuff Girls!" Everyone clapped as the girls walked in front of the stand. "Now I ask them, girls? Would you care to say a few things?"

"I'd be honored Mayor." Blossom said as she flew up to reach the mic, she tapped it a couple of times and spoke. "Uh... uh..." Or she tried to. "Sorry... I'm a little nervous... ususally I'm good with these, but I guess after not doing it for some time I've lost my grip."

"It's a good thing I snagged this paper and pencil." Bubbles whispered to Buttercup.

"Are you gonna-?"

"Mhm!" Bubbles laid down and began writing on the paper. Once she finished writing that sentence, she showed the paper in Blossom's direction. "Hey sis!" Bubbles called over. Her sister turned and observed the paper, on it was a sentence Bubbles wanted her to read off of.

Blossom nodded in understanding and read the line directly. "Where was I? Oh right... *ahem*, As the leader of the Powerpuff Girls, I'll make sure me and my sisters keep Townsville safe from all harm!" She paused; Bubbles erased the previous line and wrote a new one. "We know it may not seem like we can handle it." Bubbles is writing again. "But I assure you all, that us three: Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup will show all the evil in Townsville who they're not to mess with!" Bubbles is writing again, but Blossom felt this time she could hold her own. "We only ask that you all support us out of the battlefield, and we in return will continue to support this city!" Everyone was cheering. "Please everyone, hold your applause, I don't feel like we deserve it just yet..."

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" A mysterious thundering voice laughed, which scared everyone. The girls suddenly got on guard. The entire city became engulfed in a red light as the voice spoke. "You heard her! They don't deserve it! Because after all... what's the point if they're to fail eventually!?" Pink fog started to settle in. "They've fought for the protection of this city, only to fall from my hands many years ago!"

"HIM!?" The girls said in a surprised manner.

The figure spoke as its body materialized in front of everyone. "So you still remember me? How nice... Speaking of nice, don't think I'm here to make friends!" Lightning crashed as he laughed evilly, scaring the pants off everyone (not literally) as they screamed in fear. "A standing ovation? Didn't expect this... but I'll take it, ahahahahaha~!"

From below in front of the Town Hall, the Mayor poked Blossom on the back. "GAH! Oh, what's wrong?"

"Obviously you see what's wrong! Who is that freak anyways?"

"That's 'HIM', or His Infernal Majesty as he's sometimes referred to. The strongest villain we've ever clashed with in our years of crimefighting!" Blossom answered.

"He's also pretty much Devil Incarnate, so it makes sense as to why he's so arrogant about his power." Buttercup explained.

"He's the meanest, rottenest, rudest-est, baddie we've ever seen! He's so bad, I made up words to describe him!" Bubbles said.

"Well... is there anything you three can do?"

"We'll try to get HIM to leave somehow..." The girls spun around and they were now in their usual dresses. "Good thing our usual dresses were under our fancy-shmancy ones. Now let's fly!" Blossom said as she and her sisters flew up to face the devil himself. "Hey! Lobster!"

"Who are you calling LOBSTER!?" HIM angrily asked.

"YOU!" The girls charged at HIM and were about to punch him in the face, until he shot paralyzing rays from his eyes. "AH!" They all exclaimed.

"C'mon... really? Surely you don't insist on trying to beat me THAT way..."

"Got a problem with that Sunburnt?" Buttercup asked.

"Hey... mind the insults if you please! If you must simply know I'm only here for introductions... not to brawl with three big-headed, bug-eyed freaks!"

"Yeesh... lay off the insults HIM." Blossom said.

"Anyways, like I said... I merely stopped by to say hello to everyone. Is THAT such a problem hmm?" He said with mock sadness. "Anyways I best be shoving off. I'll see you next... hmm... Tuesday perhaps?"

"NO WAY!"

"My aren't you three awfully cranky today? Why don't we fix that with some punishment!?" He held his claws out to the sides of the field containing the girls, and unleashed a jagged bolt of energy at them. When HIM decided the torture could end, he let the heroes fall out of the sky, and onto the floor.

"Ugh..." Was the only word Blossom could muster.

"Like I said... next Tuesday... THAT'S A WEEK FROM NOW YOU HEAR ME!?" No response. "Good! Well then see you three later ahahahahaha~..." He disappeared in a swirling void of pink mist.

The girls managed to get up from the crater they created, and rubbed their heads, backs, fronts, and even their souths. "Hey heroes? You good?" A curious person asked.

"Yeah..." Said a beat-up looking Blossom. "A little tingly but other than that... yeah."

"Girls!" Two voices cried from the distance. It was Katrina and their Professor.

"Katrina? Professor?"

"Oh thank the heavens you're fine! A little beat around here and there but you three look fine to me." Save for a few torn pieces of clothing and bruises...

"Will you be fine!?" Katrina asked.

"Do you really have to ask? We've been in beatings like this ALL the time! Our Chemical X gives us super healing; bruises, cuts, you name it, we can take it!" Buttercup assured her.

"Although... HIM has really gotten stronger, even I don't remember him being that powerful..." Bubbles said as she rubbed a sore spot on her arm. "I hope all turns out well though..."

"Same here..." Everyone else said.

"Well let's get you three home. Although you seem fine, maybe you should rest and let your powers heal you." Professor Utonium told them.

"Fine..."

(Back at their home)

Back at the Utoniums' home, the girls' suffered injuries have healed already after five whole hours.

"Hi girls. Glad to see you're all fine. Hey, I just got off the phone with my mother, she wants to know if you'd love to stay over at our home for the night."

"Your parents know we exist now?" Bubbles asked.

"Ever since the Mojo battle."

"Tell her we accept; but also tell her to give us time, Buttercup still feels sore in the head."

"I do NOT!" She got up immediately and suddenly her world started spinning. "Woah... woah... okay... yes I do..." She sat back down.

"I'll make sure to tell."

(At the front of her home)

Katrina knocked on the door of her house and her mother answered. "Oh hi honey! So what did they say?"

She looked up towards the completely-covered-by-blonde-hair face of her mother. "They said they would. But they need more time to heal."

"Well that's fine and all. I just wanted to know about their current conditions is all."

"They told me it's nothing to worry about. They said they'd-"

"Be ready when we're ready!" Blossom interrupted. Katrina turned around and saw the three heroes floating down in front of the Melinski's home. "Hello Mrs... Uh..." She suddenly stopped.

"Bloss? Is there something wrong?" Bubbles looks over at Kat's mother. "Uh..."

"Oh come on, you too? Why are you sudden- uh..."

Katrina managed to break the suddenly stunned girls. "Why are you three freaking out over my mother?"

"Oh... sorry... I didn't know your mother looked like one of the people who were familiar to us." Blossom admitted.

"Familiar how?"

"She looks like Ms. Bellum."

"Oh? You know my great-great grandmother?" Kat's mom asked.

"Your WHAT!?"

(Inside)

"Let me guess... the hair covering my face? Also a trait from my great-grandmother, and my grandmother, and my mother."

"I can see why the resemblance is WAY too obvious now. You ARE a Bellum!" Bubbles said.

"How do you go from redhead to blonde?" Buttercup asked.

"Buttercup I think it'd be better not to question how genetics work." Blossom told her.

"So for how long have you three fought crime for?"

"Oh wouldn't you like to hear it? To put it simple, we've been fighting crime since 1998, but ever since 2021 we were trapped in statues. That was until your daughter freed us."

"How were you three made?"

"In a lab." Buttercup answered.

"She asked 'how' not 'where'." Blossom told her.

"Fine... but you two gotta help me explain the whole story got it?"

"Fine..."

Blossom decided to start off. "We were made in a lab one night, our father that we simply call 'the Professor', decided that he wanted to create the perfect little girl."

"That was us!" Bubbles interrupted. "Or at least... it was supposed to be us..."

"Anyways... he used three ingredients. Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice. We know it seems rather improbable that those three things created us, but one last thing was added, which eventually led to our creation!"

Buttercup tagged in. "Jojo was the Professor's pet chimp/lab assistant, but he wasn't a very good chimp. In fact, he's the reason we even look like this, can fly around like this, and shoot lasers from our eyes! Honestly... not sure whether to thank him... or hate him."

It was Bubbles' turn now. "He was given an enlarged brain thanks to the Chemical X-plosion that birthed us! Jealous of the Professor giving more attention to us than him, he left, and hid away until we left from school without any knowledge of where home was! He took us in and made us act like villains!"

"And then he managed to get his hands on some Chemical X, which once he drank it all, turned him into a giant hulking monster! We managed to get our act together eventually, and we stopped him using all our powers!" Buttercup said after the jumpcut.

"Well... all our powers is more of an overstatement. It took some serious grit but we managed to win at least. After that ended, Townsville respected us, and many villains fought us for years to come!" Blossom finished.

"And then for the first time ever! The day... was saved! Thanks to... the Powerpuff Girls! Our team name came up later down the line." Bubbles said.

"Wow... I'm impressed, I'm surprised everyone forgot who you three were! With such an amazing story to tell, how could anyone forget you?"

"Well... that started back in 2021..." Buttercup started.

"...And then eventually Katrina found our statues hidden in the large mountain and freed us! Bringing us back into the world of living! Think you get it now?" Blossom asked.

"I can only come to two things. One: Katrina, I'm rather disappointed you didn't at least tell us you were leaving."

"You were asleep." Katrina said.

"And two: I feel awfully sorry for you three..."

"You don't have to. It's fine, as long as we're back we're happy." Bubbles said.

"Well I'm happy to find out that the three heroes hiding outside of this city have some kind of connection to my family's past."

"I'm surprised to find out our new best friend's mother is connected to the Mayor we know! She was his secretary!" Blossom said.

"Man... saying all this out loud really gives off the feeling that we time travelled huh?" Buttercup said.

"Now that you mention it... yep." Everyone started laughing. Ohohoho! Welcome back girls!
