Feudal Diaries:

Warmth (Again)

Inuyasha © Rumiko Takahashi

Summary- It was always warm whenever she was around. For of InuKag Week 2021.

Inuyasha hated the cold... and not the kind of cold when you had some less than pleasant weather. He could tolerate the rain or the snow, that didn't bother him much due to his half-demon blood. However, he still felt cold at times.

At night, he'd lie awake, sitting on a tree branch and staring up at the sky... wondering why he was alone. It brought this coldness to his heart, causing him to shiver. It made him long for the days when he would sit in his mother's lap, listening to her hum her sweet songs into his ears as he slept. The way her arms wrapped around him always made the coldness go away... so when she died, it was no wonder he felt so cold now.

He did feel a warmth similar to that... but he left before the kind young woman could realize what he was.

Even after he met Kikyo, the warmth he felt just didn't feel as close. It was nice, he wouldn't lie about that, but... it just didn't feel right.

Now, things are different. With Kagome, the warmth felt closer and more real than anything he could ever imagine. The closer they got, the warmer he felt, so much that he would just grab her, pull her into his arms, and never let go. He loved this warmth of hers and he wouldn't trade it for anything. Hell, if being a full-fledged demon meant that he would never feel her warmth again, then he'd rather stay a half-demon... as long as he got to be with her.

Even those three long years where the coldness came back... he could still feel it within him. The warmth of hope that he would one day see her, again, even if there were times that he thought of giving up... because after she returned to him, it was like the warmth came back to him, tenfold.

So now, not only was he warm again... but he felt that warmth come back even stronger because not only did he have the woman he loved by his side, but he was surrounded by his five beloved children... and just one more on the way.

Yeah, this is pretty short, but I'm still proud of it. ^^

And I call it Warmth (Again) because I already have a drabble with the same title in this collection.
