Central City High 1990

"Everyone please focus on your studies and remember about the annual science fair." The teacher told his students as Lilith Clawthone was writing equations in her notebook as the school bell rang as she got up and roamed across the hallway where she then met up with her two outcast friends Camila Noceda and Raine Whispers who was practicing the violin while Camila was sketching them.

"Raine hold still will you?" "Just make sure you get everything," Raine said as Lilith approached them. "Well, I managed to do it." "Do what?" "Remember our group project?"

Lilith reminded the two as Camila then flipped through her sketchbook and stopped at a drawing.

"This one right?" Camila asked as Lilith responded, "Yes, just a few more tweaks and a bit of energy than the three of us will surely get scholarships!"

"It'll just be you since you built the damn thing," Raine exclaimed. "Meanwhile I'm sure music will be just as great and Cam your good at your art so we're probably getting them anyway."

"True, I still don't understand what my sister sees in you?" "Well, she has about what two years left?" Raine asked.

"Yeah and all for just stealing an ATM?" "A full ATM." Lilith corrected Camila as the younger Clawthone was mostly a trouble maker and was constantly suspended for pranks and whatnot until her arrest for the robbery.

"Well it's getting late and the fair is tomorrow so we should..." "Hey how about we just stay the night here?" Raine asked. "Are you joking?! We'll get suspended and kicked out of the fair."

Camila told them as Raine responded. "Hey I'm giving a speech about it and you all know how I do in front of a large crowd, Lily can just finish it while we're there, and Cam can just keep watch." "Lily, what do you say?"

Lilith was busy writing more equations as she stopped and muttered "Yeah sure." "Great! We'll hide in the locker room and wait till night and if our parents call we'll just say we're with each other at the other's house."

Soon the three nearly young adults then hid inside their lockers until they heard and saw the lights go off as they exited and fell. "Anyone got a light?" "I have a match." "Good enough." The three then headed to the gymnasium where Lilith broke the lock with homemade thermite as they turned on the lights and searched the display area until they found the one with their names on it.

"Found it!" Lilith cried out as she pulled the tarp away and saw the small but powerful device as the sound of lighting made her jump a bit. "What scared?" "N no plus the chance of any of us getting stuck is..." "Yeah, enough nerd talk let's just get this over with."

Raine then got on the podium as they pulled out a stack of notecards as Camila sat down with her thumbs up while Lilith was tinkering with the device as it turned on and started charging. "Uh is it supposed to do that?" "Camila asked. "It's just a small short fuse I can fix it."

Lilith then opened the small accelerator and was then shocked and flung across the room landing on a few chairs as Camila and Riane checked on her. "Hey wake up please." The sound of lighting woke up Lilith who's hair now had a bit of white/grey on it.

"Close it, close it!" She shouted at them to which Riane and Camila then ran to it as they slammed it shut.

"Screwdriver," Camila said as Riane handed her one as she began putting the screws back while Raine went to the podium to grab her instrument she brought while a screw then fell on the floor as Camila quickly picked it up and placed her hand on the accelerator just as Lightning then stuck the glass ceiling shattering it as it then stuck and exploded the accelerator.

The explosion and lightning then ran through Camila's body as red lightning then shocked Raine shattering the violin in their hands while Lilith burst through the door and dropped to the floor as a large amount of energy from the particles barely reached her as it then went back inside and vanished into nothingness.

Soon Lilith found herself sitting in a hospital waiting room with a bandage on her bleeding forehead while Camila and Raine were quickly rushed to the emergency room with Cam receiving a few first-degree burns and Raine having gone into shock as their nerves and veins were pure visible like blood red.

"How are they?" Lilith asked a doctor who responded, "Well the Latina will be fine but your other friend has severe nerve damage not to mention that they've lost all nerve connection with their hands and have severe scars."

Lilith then simply lowered her head as their parents then rushed in and quickly began asking questions about their children.

Over the next few days, Camila and Raine slowly recovered from Cam's burns healing in a few hours while Raine was hand therapy but to no avail. "What kind of musician am I if I can't play? and this..." Raine said looking at the red nerve scars as they were permanent. "I'm a freak." "Raine calm down."

Cam said as Raine simply struggled to use a spoon as it dropped to the floor before bursting into tears while Camila was then discharged after a week while Raine still stayed. Camila simply walked with her family as she then knocked on the Clawthore's door as Lilith's mother Gwen opened the door. "If you're still mad at her then..." "I'm not a just want to talk to her."

"Lily get over here!" Lilith then walked in her hair slowly looking a bit white and gray as she grabbed Camila and lead her to the basement which she had turned into a makeshift lavatory. "Uh, Lilith your still in there?" "Yes, and no I'm not losing my mind." "Then what's with all..."

Lilith then sat down next to a computer as she then printed/faxed a list of results. "What's that?" "Your blood results, and don't ask how I got it."

"Sure.." Camila said a bit fearfully as Lilith continued. "Do you feel any different?" "Well minus the large weight loss not much why?"

Lilith then pocked Cam with a sewing needle. "HEY!" Lilith ignored her as she then placed the small sample under a microscope. "Just look." Camila then looked and saw that the red blood cells were sparking with electricity. "What is this?" "Glad you asked, I believe that since you were in physical contact when the lightning struck the accelerator that it changed your molecular structure and DNA."

Camila felt like she was going to pass out as Lilith then held her and placed her in a chair. "So what? Nothings changed and it never wi..." Camila then simply took a step as a second later she found herself face to face with a wall as Lilith was in shock. "Incredible one second you were with me and now you're there." "What is this?"

Lilith then quickly tossed a baseball at her as Camila then stepped out of the only to see the ball was moving at a snail's pace as almost everything was slowing down as Camila then easily snatched the ball out of the air as everything then went back with Lilith holding a stopwatch. "That was barely five seconds." "What in God's is happening to me?"

Camila asked Lilith who then laughed. "Isn't it obvious?" "What?" "Mother and grandmother used to talk about stuff like in the "Old days," Lilith said pulling out a newspaper from a box and handing it to Camila who read the title JSA prevents german invasion on the US "Please don't tell me that you're saying that I." "Hey my mother and I wouldn't be here if it weren't for the Sandman." "Quién?"

Lilith then searched another box before pulling out a few comic books. "May I suggest that you start reading them just think of them as biographies." "But..." Lilith then went upstairs as Camila started reading.

Back at the Hospital, Raine was still struggling to move their fingers as their parents had brought them another Violin as Raine struggled to hold the playing. 'Cam and Lily get off easy but I'm the one who gets to suffer?!" Raine thought to themselves as the scars started to glow bright red as their eyes went from pure bloodshot red as Raine then removed the bow from the instrument sending a large shockwave that shattered a wall and glass around.
