Videl contentedly sighed to herself as she shuffled around on the mattress. The comfort factor she was experiencing was unlike any other she could recall in her life. As she kicked the bed sheets slightly a surge of cool air ran underneath, repelling some of the warmth. On instinct she rolled backwards to the centre of the bed where she could escape the cold. Her movements were then cut off as soon as she bumped into a hard, rock like figure. The woman's eyes shot open at the unexpected sensation, and she was quick to realise that this bed, nor room resembled anything to her own single bedroom apartment.

Slowly the memories of last night's events pieced together in her mind. The reunion, the dinner, the dancing… And of course, the fact that she had kissed Son Gohan. And if she was correct in thinking that she wasn't dreaming last night (Added with the fact that she was completely undressed under the sheets) a kiss wasn't all they had done last night. Videl casually rolled over to her side so she could face the man lying beside her in bed. He was peacefully sleeping, mouth slightly open as he breathed heavily. The sheets were halfway down his torso revealing his toned upper chest area. The sight of his angelic face and masculine physique had Videl smiling like a love-struck teenager. She never would have expected her night to end with her in bed with Son Gohan of all people. But now here she was, and she wasn't in any position to complain.

The thoughts of their late-night activities sent a shiver up Videls spine. She had been with only a few men in her life, but despite this she wasn't exactly a bumbling, insecure virgin who struggled with the concept of sexual intimacy. (She was Videl Satan after all) However she may as well have been by the way Gohan had acted last night. She never expected him to be so assertive. The way he touched her last night was unlike any sensation she had experienced. His movements were controlled yet fluid, he was dominant yet also caring and gentle. Videl honestly felt bad for any tenants of the nearby apartments. The way she had reacted to their activities last night would have been enough to wake the entire floor. The crime fighter shuddered, there was something so passionate about their love making that lit a fire in her. She almost felt jealous at the fact that Gohan clearly had much more experience with other women before her; How else would he be able to do what he did to her if he didn't? Videl wasn't the possessive type, but the idea of ever allowing another woman near her Gohan was out of the question.

'My Gohan? Where did that come from?' Videl asked herself. 'We haven't even been together for a whole day and I'm already labelling him mine' She shook her head, taking in his handsome features once more and tracing patterns with her index finger on his chest, as she laid her head on the pillow between his shoulder and neck, breathing in his scent. Ah, fuck it! He is mine!' She relented, giving in to her feelings. 'Hard to believe he is half alien' Her eyes continued to scan him for any oddities. Their conversation last night stuck in her mind, the intergalactic emperor, the Saiyan warrior race, the dragon balls. It really was a plethora of information to accept in such a short span of time. 'And he still has more to tell me'

The doctor then allowed a light snore to pass through his lips which made Videl giggle lightly. She responded by pecking him on the cheek. Gohan's eyes fluttered open on the contact and their eyes met, mere centimetres apart from one another.

"Hey" Gohan whispered, cracking a half smile.

"Hey" Videl responded, wearing a smile of her own as she nuzzled into his chest.

"How are you feeling?" He asked, wrapping an arm under her waist and around her midsection. Videl pressed herself into his side, relishing in the warmth he offered.

"Better than I have in a long time" She responded flirtatiously, winking to him. "You?"

Gohan smirked. "As long as this is what I get to wake up to? Then I'm perfect" And just like that Videl's walls broke and she blushed. The fact that Gohan had become so confident was difficult to adjust to.

"Very smooth Casanova" She giggled, laying her head back on his chest, listening to his heartbeat as his hands combed through her raven hair. Videl fiddled idly with the bed sheets, thinking back to last night. "Hey, can I ask you something?" She questioned, almost sounding somewhat unsure.

"Yeah?" Gohan responded, lifting his neck to look down on her.

"How many… How many other women have you been with before me?" She asked very curiously.

"Why the sudden interest?" Gohan chuckled, surprised by the personal question.

The woman shrugged, meeting his gaze. "It's normal for a woman to be curious about her partners past experiences" She paused. "At least I think it is".

"So, we are already exclusive?" Gohan's grin widening.

"Not unless you wipe that smug smile off your face and answer the question" Videl mock huffed, earning a light chuckle.

"Okay, fair enough" The Saiyan submitted, pecking his new girlfriend on the cheek. He then paused momentarily, weighing the answer to the question he had just been asked. "Off the top of my head I believe the answer is three" Videl raised her eyebrows in surprise, staring deeply into his eyes for any signs of dishonesty. At this point though she would be willing to accept his word on any matter considering all he had laid out for her last night.

"Three huh?" She echoed with a hint of doubt.

"Yeah Three. One was from a village near my family home in the mountain ranges. The other two I met here in West City. Why? How many were you expecting me to say?" He questioned, aware of Videl's surprised reaction.

"Honestly, after last night I would have expected more than just three" She ran a hand up his torso and to his neck.

Gohan settled into a sly grin. "Maybe you just drive so crazy that I don't feel the need to hold back" Though Gohan was as modest as they came, he still had a shred of pride, and such a compliment from Videl Satan of all people was enough to make that apparent.

"Did you love them?" The Satan girl questioned.

"They're the reason I decided to never sleep around with strangers again. I quickly realised that it was the emotional connection I wanted. Not just a one-time fling"

The raven-haired girl squeaked as her boyfriend flipped over so that she was now trapped under him as he ran a hand up the exposed skin of her thigh. "What about you?" He whispered, leaning his face towards hers, brushing his lips over hers in the softest contact he could muster.

"What about me?" She asked through baited breaths.

"How much experience do you have? As your new boyfriend I think I'm allowed to know, right?" He laughed.

Videl paused. "Three as well" She whispered. "Though I only really hooked up with them as a means to get back at my father. He's always been so overbearing about my love live I felt so suffocated. If he had his way, I would live my whole life alone" She placed a hand behind Gohan's head and pulled him towards her. "But none of them were nearly as fun as you. And I never really had that connection with them either. Believe me when I say that my father's rules are the last thing on my mind when you're around" She quickly closed the gap between the two and crashed her lips to his. As the pair broke a part, they smiled to one another. Neither could recall a moment in their lives where they had felt more content.

"Why don't we get up?" The Son man suggested. "I still have to finish our story from last night".

Videl nodded. "I'm eager to hear about what happened next" She hungrily took in the sight of her boyfriend as he busied himself with his nearby wardrobe, picking out a pair of light blue trackie pants and covering his lower body. He then took out a large grey T-shirt and threw it over to Videl.

"You can wear that for now if you want" He sent her a genuine smile. "I'm going to make some coffee. Do you want some?"

Videl snatched up the shirt like it was her lifeline and held it against her chest. "That sounds great. Can I use your shower?"

"Sure. There's a fresh towel hanging on the rack" He then exited the room towards the kitchen.

As Videl entered the bathroom she inspected herself in the mirror. Her lipstick had been smeared in several places, no doubt due to all the kissing last night, and her hair was ruffled in all directions. She quickly set about rectifying these issues with a steamy shower which helped clear her mind. 'It's so weird. Gohan's an alien, the great Saiyaman, a doctor and not to mention my boyfriend' Her smile widened. 'I suppose I could do worse'

After drying off she threw on the shirt Gohan had given her. It managed to reach halfway down her kneecaps, she also allowed her hair to hang down her shoulders, slightly damp due to Gohan not seeming to own a hair dryer. 'I guess when you're blessed with such incredible hair genetics you don't need any hair maintenance' She concluded with a hint of envy. 'Must be specific to Saiyans'

The thought of the warrior race occupied the woman's mind. She could easily accept the idea that there was life beyond planet Earth, it was an expansive universe after all. However, it was another matter to believe that there were beings capable of destroying entire planets and annihilating whole races with a single gesture. And Gohan was one of those beings.

'I can't imagine how it must be. Being one of only a handful of your race left in existence' Videl thought to herself. Honestly, despite the fact that the man had clearly inherited incredible fighting genes and physical attributes, she couldn't help but pity the doctor. Here he was, all the power of a warrior race at his fingertips, yet he was in a world that couldn't comprehend it, couldn't appreciate it. A real-life alien trying to live amongst humans. The idea of his struggles with high school only weighed even more heavily on the Satan woman knowing that fact. She could only find solace in the fact that they had managed to make up and all was forgiven.

Running a hand through her damp hair, Videl bit her bottom lip as she looked over herself in the mirror. She was honestly shocked when Gohan had confessed he had a crush on her throughout high school. Not only that, but he had complimented her on her skills as a fighter, her determination, her bravery and even her beauty. Videl knew she wasn't bad looking; she was never short of admirers through her teen years (Though she would often question the validity of these men on account of who her father was). Heck even one of her best friends, Sharpner had a thing for her before he turned his attention to Erasa. But the way Gohan spoke about her went beyond a simple admirer. He had clearly noticed more about her than most others had.

After drying off, Videl wandered back into the main living area. Where Gohan was busying himself in the kitchen, the sound of bacon crackling on a pan and coffee brewing in a nearby machine. The black-haired woman watched on in amusement as the Son man hummed to himself. Unlike last night, his hair was dishevelled and more unkempt than usual. He wore a pair of black, rectangular reading glasses. His chest was still open for her to hungrily run her eyes over, whilst his feet were bare, the only article of clothing being the pants she had seen him put on earlier. She kept herself quiet, enjoying the show of her now boyfriend happily working his way around the stove top.

"Are you going to stand there all day?" She heard the man call out, not bothering to turn to face her. Videl stiffened at the comment.

Somewhat caught off guard as well as a little embarrassed at being caught ogling the man, Videl walked over to the counter. "I didn't think you'd be able to hear me" She admitted with a smile. "Besides, I was enjoying the show"

Gohan returned the smile. "I didn't hear you" He stated. Videls eyebrows raised in surprise. "Remember how I told you about how one of the uses of energy is the ability to sense living things?"

Thinking back to their long-winded conversation last night, Videl did recall Gohan going into some detail regarding energy manipulation and its uses.

The night before:

"The whole point of Piccolos training was to have me in fighting form for when the Saiyans arrived. He saw potential in my abilities. The hardest step was gaining access to my energy" Gohan explained.

"Energy?" Videl questioned. "Is that how you're able to fly and do those light tricks?" She thought back to when The Great Saiyaman, who she now knew was Gohan, would fire off projectiles composed of pure light at criminals, subduing them almost instantly.

Gohan nodded. "They're actually called energy blasts. But yes. Accessing your inner energy is what allows one to do all those things. Energy is a power all living things possess. But it can take years to learn how to use it effectively, though that varies depending on a variety of factors such as genetics and overall strength".

"Wait. So, you're telling me that even humans can fly? It's not just some alien power you have?" Videl's eyes widened with what looked to be hope.

"Sure. I know a plenty of humans who can do more than just fly by utilising their energy. It's actually a versatile tool".

"Like what?" Videl edged closer to the man, their knees touching as she did so, hanging on his every word.

"Well, like I said, flight and blasts are one thing. But there are powers that allow you to blind opponents. You can also use it to increase your strength and speed by outputting more of your reserved power. My father even learnt a technique that allows him to travel to any position in the entire galaxy faster than any conceivable speeds. It's called instant transmission" Gohan paused briefly, almost laughing at how engrossed in the tale Videl seemed. "But one of the most beneficial techniques to learn is energy sensing".

"Sensing?" Videl thought aloud.

"It's basically like a sixth sense" Gohan tried to explain. "Since every living being has a pool of energy within them, that means we are all in some way connected. Energy sensing is the ability to home in and locate a person from anywhere in the world if you concentrate on pinpointing their energy output. It's actually possible to detect an energy signal from someone in an entirely different galaxy with enough training".

Videls eyes widened. "Woah. So, you can tell where anyone is right now?"

Gohan shrugged. "Depends on who I'm looking for. It can be harder to find someone who has a small reserve of energy. This can be because they aren't too strong, are badly injured or choosing to mask their energy to be harder to trace. It's typically easier to find someone who has considerable amounts of energy or that I am familiar with" The man then took a moment of silence and shut his eyes briefly. "For example. My mother doesn't have access to her inner power, but since I've been around her all my life, I can tell she's at our family home in the mountains with my dad and Goten. However, if you asked me to find someone I didn't know then I wouldn't really be able to, unless of course they had an insanely high-power level that was unfamiliar too me"

"Gee. This energy thing is super awesome." The realisation quickly dawned on the woman. "You must really hate everything my father has said about it all then. Calling it tricks and those who use it, cheaters".

Gohan shrugged again. "Honestly, we never let it affect us. It's really just a shame that it all fell into obscurity. There used to be a time where energy users were far more common. Especially during the world tournaments. But I suppose it can be seen as a positive in some regard. Energy is a powerful weapon, and it can be deadly in the wrong hands. There would no doubt be people out there who would abuse such power for personal gain".

"I suppose" Videl remarked thoughtfully. "Does it really take years to learn?"

"For someone who isn't athletically gifted, probably. But for someone like yourself who is a long-time martial artist, I doubt it would pose too much of a problem to access your energy. It's the mastery that is the lengthier process" Gohan paused, eyeing Videl with a knowing smirk. "You know, if you really want to, maybe I could give you a few pointers on how to use it".

Videl very nearly fell out of her seat at the comment. The prospect of flying in the air without the assistance was something straight out of fiction or limited to a far-fetched dream. "You mean, you would be willing to teach me how to fly?" She asked, almost crashing her lips to his once more from pure enthusiasm.

"That. And much more" He smiled.

Present Time:

Videl nodded her head as she recalled the conversation. She absent-mindedly responded to his statement before setting into a determined stare. "Do you really think you'll be able to teach me all the things you can do?"

Gohan nodded. "Of course. Energy is readily accessible to anyone wanting to learn. I meant it when I said I was willing to teach you" He noted the way she nearly leapt off the walls and chuckled. It was reminiscent of when he promised Goten his first flying lesson. "But that will have to wait" He calmed her. "We will probably need a change in scenery before we can really start any training".

Videl's brows furrowed in confusion and impatience. "Why can't we squeeze in a quick session now?"

"There are too many distractions" The Saiyan responded. "You need a tranquil place to properly find your inner power. Somewhere you can clear your mind. It's best to have somewhere with plenty of space and little noise, and this apartment doesn't provide either of those" He gestured to the sounds of the city streets beneath his building, producing all sorts of bustling noise.

"Well then, what is a good place?" She queried, whilst accepting a freshly brewed cup of coffee the man placed on the counter for her.

Gohan took a sip of his own coffee as he continued with breakfast. "I used to find the most calming places to be out in the mountain ranges near my old house. You're hundreds of kilometres removed from all this out there" He suggested. Videl nodded slowly, understanding. She was about to counter that a trip to such a place would take hours. But she thought better of it after recalling the speeds Gohan was capable to reaching. "But enough of that" He proceeded to stack a mountain of bacon, dozens of eggs, and whole loaves of bread on the countertop. Videl's eyes widened at the quantity. "Because breakfast is served" He beamed.

Videl wanted to be sick. Not because the food she was offered was poorly made. In fact, it was amazing, she was glad to note that Gohan seemed to know his way around the kitchen. That was an excellent quality in a man after all. What made her sick however was the scene of Gohan chowing down on several kilos of bacon and downing whole eggs in an instant.

"I take it your eating habits are attributed to your Saiyan side" She quipped. Gaining Gohan's gaze as he looked to her, his cheeks filled to the brim.

He nodded sheepishly and forced down the food before responding. "We Saiyans require a lot more to function. We're not entirely sure what causes it. But we suspect our extreme metabolism is due to our naturally high power. The more energy you access the more you become fatigued, and your body needs to recuperate".

"Then that's going to take some getting used to" She put on a devious grin. "It may even be a deal breaker in this relationship if you can't do anything about those appalling table manners".

Gohan mock pleaded. "I promise I'll be good!" He exclaimed, placing his palms together in an effort gain forgiveness. He only managed a handful of bows before the two broke into a fit of laughter.

After cleaning the dishes and finding a place on the couch once more, Gohan continued on with his story from the other night. "Right so. I believe the last I told you was how we attempted to wish my dad back to life after planet Namek exploded".

Videl nodded eagerly. "That's right. Then the dragon told you he was actually still alive, but he didn't want to return to earth".

And so Gohan plunged into another fantastical tale. Detailing his father's recount of the events as well as what followed proceeding the defeat of Frieza. There was a brief pause in the story as Videl questioned Gohan several times in regard to Trunks arriving on earth and claiming to be from the future. Eventually the Son boy made it to the part of the story where Cell would now be formally introduced. He paused.

Videl leaned forward, noting his apprehensive expression. "So…" She trailed. "What happened next?"

Gohan opened his mouth to speak, but abruptly closed it. Videl placed a reassuring hand over his, sending him a warm smile. "Hey. Whatever it is it's okay" she said, thinking he felt she would think less of him for what he was about to tell her.

He shook his head. "It's not a bad thing. It's just…" He paused. "I'm not sure it's right of me to tell you about this part at the moment"

"Why not?" She retracted her hand.

Gohan's lips set into a line. "I will. But we need to go and meet with someone before I can. It's only fair that we do"

"Who is it?" Videl wondered.

The tall man opened his mouth to respond before he seemed to become transfixed with the nearby wall. His eyes widened as if he was staring into the distance. Videl didn't even get a moment to ask a question before Gohan interrupted. "Oh no" he shot from his seated position.

At almost exactly the same time there was an odd ringing noise that resounded through the room. What followed that were three figures who appeared to materialize out of thin air. The closest of the three was a man, clad in an orange gi, sporting dishevelled black hair with his index and middle finger pressed to his forehead. To his left, a hand placed on his central man's shoulder was another male. Though this one was somewhere in his mid to late teens, his hair similar to the older man's. Their facial features near identical. The last of the three was a middle-aged woman, hair tied into a bun, wearing a yellow robed outfit.

It didn't take long for Videl to deduce that they were the Son family… Whom she was now sitting in front of, wearing nothing but one of Gohan's T-shirts and a pair of black, lacy underpants.

Silence hung in the air for what felt like an eternity. Videl flushed all shades of red, Gohan placed a curled fist over his mouth. Chichi turned away, her hands covering her face from the sight, Goten stared openly, jaw almost hitting the floor. The only person in the room who didn't appear out of place or flustered was Son Goku. The man wore a confused look. "Hey Gohan. Who's your friend?"

"Dad" Gohan stated slowly. "What did I tell you about using instant transmission to enter my house without warning?"

"I tried to stop him Gohan!" Goten waved a hand in front of him after finding his voice.

Goku, meanwhile remained oblivious, cocking his head to one side. "I thought you'd be happy to see us. Besides, we wanted to hear about that school thingy you went you to last night".

"Well, I'm kind of preoccupied at the moment. So, forgive my lack of enthusiasm at your arrival" Gohan strategically moved a few paces to his side, as to block their view of the mortified woman. He turned back to her and tilted his head to the bedroom. "Feel free to grab some clothes" Videl, not needing to be told twice, nodded furiously. Nearly sprinting past the Son family to the safety of the bedroom.

As soon as she disappeared from view, the Son family all turned to Gohan. Chichi was the first to speak up, taking a step forward, index finger pointing, accusingly. "You have a lot of explaining to do mister".

Gohan backed away, a nervous grin on his face. Despite his radical character change over the past years, there was one weakness he would never be able to shake. His phobia of his scolding mother. Once his back reached a nearby wall and the outstretched finger bore down on him, he threw his hands up in the air, like a criminal submitting to authorities.

"Okay, okay" He sighed. "Videl and I got to talking back at the reunion, we kind of hit it off, surprisingly. Some things happened, and now here we are".

"Some things happened?!" Chichi advanced further, her face practically emanating steam.

Goten, quickly catching on to what those words meant, grinned slyly. "Oh! Gohan shoots and scores!" He chorused.

Chichi quickly reeled back on her youngest son. "Goten!" She barked, almost immediately receiving an apology in return, followed by silence.

"Oh, I get it!" Goku chimed in, snapping his fingers as if uncovering a secret truth. "You two were playing some sort of game last night" All three members of the Son family looked to the man, shaking their heads at his ignorance.

"We'll talk later Goku" Chichi said to her husband before looking back to her son. "As for you, I expect some sort of explanation right now, one that doesn't involve little to no details. I thought I taught you better than to be evasive around me".

Gohan just sighed. He had always feared the day he would find someone he could settle down with, for this very reason. If there was a personification of the word stubborn, it was standing in front of him as his mother. "Okay. What exactly do you want to know?"

"Why don't we start with a name for this young lady?" Chichi suggested, starting to settle slightly.

Gohan froze. "Well… You see, the thing is" He trailed off. He noted the heated look his mother wore, as well as the confused stares from his brother and father at his stalling. "It's… Videl. Her name is Videl".

Goten cocked his head to one side. "That name sounds oddly familiar" There was a brief pause as both Goku and Chichi seemed to register that the name as well.

Gohan sighed. "Her father is Hercule Satan. If that helps"

Chichi opened her mouth in an attempt to make an over-the-top remark, however, her son quickly moved forward, placing his palm over her mouth. "Don't" He warned in a hushed voice. "Look, I know there's a lot to process here. But can we please just be civil about this and not cause a scene".

Chichi gave a sceptical look, however she nodded, accepting her sons request. As he took his hand away from her, she spoke once more. "Fine. But expect a real explanation. From both of you"

Gohan sighed. "Come on mum. Can't we discuss this another time?"

"No, we can't. Because I spent a long time regretting sending you to that school. It was hard for me to know I was forcing you to do something that made you so miserable. Now, you attend an anniversary and suddenly you come home with this girl. I think I deserve some sort of clarity here".

Honestly, Gohan couldn't fault her logic. His mother had always apologised for forcing him to attend school. There were several instances where Gohan had isolated himself for several days from herself and Goten. He had even gone as far as to ask her why he couldn't just be normal for a day. Hearing that her own son felt like an outcast hurt her more than she showed. He nodded slowly. "Okay. Fine" He ushered the trio to take a seat on his sofa.

Walking to his bedroom, he was faced with Videl, fidgeting nervously with the sleeves of one of his jackets she had thrown over the T-shirt. "Well. That was awkward" She huffed.

Gohan cracked a smile. "Sorry about that. They tend to drop in unannounced regularly. I didn't really mention. But that Instant Transmission can be more of a nuisance than anything sometimes."

Videl smiled in response. "I guess it's a good thing that my dad doesn't know about it. If it's already bad with your parents. I'd hate to see how much my dad would abuse a power like that".

The tall man took her hands in his. "My mum wants to have a talk with you and me."

"About what?"

"She just wants to get to know you, I think. She's traditional like that".

Videl just nodded.

"Mum, dad, Goten. This is Videl" Gohan and the raven-haired woman walked out the lounge room. Hands intertwined. Videl gave her boyfriend a hard squeeze with her hand, it served to comfort her. "Videl. This is my mother Chichi. My dad Goku and my little brother Goten"

"It's nice to meet you. Gohan told me a bit about you last night" Videl bowed.

Goku cracked a hearty grin, rising from his seat. "Nice to meet ya Videl." He held out a hand which Videl took, shaking is several times.

"Oh hey. I know you!" Goten chimed in. "I recognise your face. Gohan used to have a stack of newspapers in his room with your face on them".

"Did he now?" She replied with a sly smirk.

"Oh yeah! He would always come home with a new paper every day and flip through it to find an article about you". There was a hint of teasing in the boy's voice.

"Well, isn't that something Gohan?" Videl said.

Gohan rolled his eyes. Due to their age gap and circumstances of their upbringing, the Son boys hadn't had the typical sibling relationship. They rarely had brotherly spats or arguments growing up. Gohan took on more of a parental roll than anything and Goten was always doing as his older brother said, idolising him as a father figure. Now, however. With Goku back to the living world for good, they were able to find the side of their relationship that they lacked. Goten figured out how to push his older brothers' buttons over the years, a past time he had come to enjoy.

"It was only to keep up to date with crime in the city. And I also had to make sure there were no leads to uncovering my identity as Saiyaman".

Gotens eyes widened. "Woah. Gohan, you're just going to out your secret identity just like that!".

Gohan grinned. "Don't worry, I already told Videl here about all of that last night".

There was a pause.

"You told her about being Saiyaman?"

Gohan nodded.

The youngest son cleared his throat. "Did you happen to tell her, you know…" He trailed off before leaning into his brother, his voice a low whisper. "Anything else?"

Videl chuckled, clearly subtlety was not Gotens strong suit.

"I told her a few other things actually"

"Like what?" Chichi questioned.

"Oh, nothing special. Just about Saiyans, and the Saiyan invasion, training with Piccolo and the whole Namek ordeal" he turned to Videl. "What else was there? I did so much story-telling last night, I think I lost track"

Videl grinned. "You left out the Androids and that guy from the future".

Goku was the first to speak up after both Goten and Chichi appeared to be stuck in s stunned silence. "Wow Son, you really told her all that? She must really mean something to you then".

Gohan nodded, a hint of a blush on his face. "I know how secretive we are about our business. But I have no doubts we can trust Videl". He smiled warmly at the woman. Honestly, Gohan was just as surprised as his family that he felt compelled to tell Videl about his childhood. He couldn't deny that there was some sort of connection he felt between them that transcended anything he had ever experienced before.

"Well, if Gohan thinks it's okay. I won't disagree. How does it feel knowing about the Saiyans?" Goten asked Videl.

Videl rubbed her arm. "Honestly, it's still kind of overwhelming. It was less than a day ago that I had no idea about life outside earth. Know in the span of a few hours I've uncovered all that and much more. Like an eternal dragon that grants wishes and the fact that there is a whole other plane of existence that we go to when we die. And here I thought, Cell was the weirdest thing I ever saw or heard of. This is a hundred times that".

"Don't worry, you get used to it" Goten laughed.

"I'm just surprised there's more to the story. We only got to the part where the androids killed that Gero guy. It's like some weird Sci-Fi series".

"Well, you're about to get to one of the best parts"

"I was planning on taking her somewhere before I told her. Since, you know, a lot of events played out after Androids 17 and 18 were no longer bound to Gero". Gohan explained.

"Hm?" Goku hummed. "Oh, you're talking about the Cel…" Goku was swiftly silenced by his wife delivering an open-handed smack to the back of his head. The resounding crack filled the whole apartment.

"Now Goku. Don't spoil the story. I'm sure Gohan here doesn't want to spoil anything". She said slowly. The woman clearly picked up the hint her son dropped that he needed to take Videl somewhere. Where, she couldn't say. But she didn't need her big-mouthed husband ruining things for the pair by dropping any bombshells too soon. Approaching the young woman, Chichi noted the way she held herself, there was a certain glint in her eyes that brought her back to her younger days. "You're a fighter, aren't you Videl?"

"You can tell?" Videl asked.

"I've spent a fair share of my time around fighters. I used to be one myself. It's not hard to pick one out of the crowd".

"Gohan did mention that you and his father met at the world tournament. I actually remember reading several articles about you growing up. I always thought it was amazing for a female to qualify".

"My, it was such a long time ago. I can't believe people felt the need to write about it. I didn't even enter to win in the first place. All I wanted was to find Goku and follow up on his promise to marry me". Clasping her hands together. The mother seemed to be staring off into space at the memory. "It feels just like yesterday, doesn't it Goku? You and me fighting in the tournament and you proposing after".

Goku grinned. "Oh yeah. That was a really fun time. I remember not even knowing what marriage was at the time" he chuckled.

"You must have really hit your head hard when you fell off that cliff as a baby" Goten chimed in.

"Not as hard as this" Goku quickly grabbed his youngest son in a headlock, rubbing his fist against his head, laughing as Goten squirmed.

"Now, now boys. That's enough. We don't need a repeat of last weekend" Chichi looked to Gohan and Videl. "They destroyed one of our radish farms, and the entire valley when their sparring got out of hand"

"Again?" Gohan quirked an eyebrow.

"This isn't the first time" Videl asked.

Chichi sighed. "You'll quickly learn that Saiyans are basically toddlers with superpowers. Stubborn and completely uncontrollable. Even Gohan here blew up a mountainside when he last visited us. A place that need I remind you, was one of my favourite places in the mountain area"

"I said I was sorry" Gohan held his arms out. "But it was dad who deflected the blast to the mountain anyway. I was aiming it to the sky".

"But Goten was the one who distracted me. I couldn't concentrate when he was asking me questions in the middle of my spar with Gohan"

"Yeah. But I thought we agreed no energy blasts that session anyway. So, it's all Gohan's fault" Goten countered.

Videl watched on his amusement and shock. She never thought in her lifetime that she would witness a blame game over who was responsible for blowing up a mountain. Chichi noticed the look and chuckled. "Don't worry. This is very typical, and you will get used to it. Trust me" She assured.

Once the dust had finally settled on the argument. Or at least, once Chichi had scolded the trio for their ridiculous behaviour before the blame could be accurately pinpointed. The Son family and Videl took a seat in the lounge room.

"So, do you work Videl? I'd imagine that being the daughter of Mr. Satan must mean you would be set for life. At least from what I've heard regarding your family wealth" Chichi asked.

"I never wanted to live of inheritance" Videl responded. "I started working for the police every so often when I was sixteen. Initially I only wanted for it to be a side gig for me to help with my martial arts training. But eventually I wanted for it to be a full-time career. So, after I graduated, I applied for the police force full time. And I'm now a detective for Satan City. I always hated the idea of living easily. I guess I just wanted to accomplish everything on my own".

"That's admirable. No woman who lacks determination and ambition could handle life with a Saiyan man, trust me" Videl blushed at the comment. It was still odd for her to be reminded of the fact that she and Gohan were officially something more than friends. "It certainly takes a lot out of you. But they are truly special individuals. At least my boys are. Maybe not so much Vegeta, honestly I wonder how Bulma ever puts up with him".

"I still can't believe how close he was to wiping out everyone on earth. I guess my father should be thanking you for being there that time around when he wasn't"

Chichi went silent for a moment. "Right"

"Oh, Vegeta's not so bad" Goku stated. "He may always be mad, but he cares about his family. I can tell. And I could see that side of him when I first fought it. It's the reason I told Krillin to let him live after all".

"And it's your pure heart that made me fall in love with you" Chichi said dreamily.

Videl smiled at the married couple before addressing Gohan. "It must have been scary, having your four-year-old Son fighting in those battles".

Chichi nodded solemnly. "I was terrified. It hurt me so much knowing that Gohan was off risking his life. And with Goku not being around at the time, it was doubly difficult. I felt like I lost everything important to me in a single day when Gohan was kidnapped and Goku died".

"Well, I guess we're both glad that they came out of it. I don't know what kind of future I would have if they hadn't. But I doubt it would even come close to what I have to look forward to" She placed a hand on Gohan's who covered hers with his other. They shared a smile with one another.

Chichi smiled lightly. She casually observed the way her son watched the young woman as she spoke. There was a fondness in his eyes that reminded her of her own husband. The way he looked that her that made her feel as if she were the centre of the universe. Chichi had always waited for the day that her son would find companionship. At that moment she knew, there was a connection between that made them destined for one another. And no matter Videl's lineage. The guardians of earth had made the right choice for her son to be happy.

A few hours passed. The Son family were happy to converse with the new couple about various topics. Videl was able to tell her story of her upbringing, the loss of her mother and her passion for fighting. Goten acted like a giddy kid all over again when she detailed her first taste of victory at the junior world tournament, as did Goku to some extent. Overall, Videl felt comfortable within the family dynamic. They acted like any loving family should, it made her forget that three quarters of the family weren't even fully human. She had always yearned for this kind of family growing up, however fate had other plans for her.

After saying goodbye to the trio, Gohan and Videl watched as Goku and Chichi sat together on Nimbus cloud, heading back to the mountain area, whilst Goten flew in loops around the couple, speaking animatedly as he did so. Goku had offered to instant transmission them home, but Chichi wanted to enjoy what she called the 'scenic route'.

"You have a nice family Gohan" Videl said, a wide smile on her face.

Gohan grinned back. "They're something alright. I sometimes forget how different we are to normal people that it's a culture shock when I return to the city after a weekend away. Just remembering not to fly or use my strength on a daily basis can be a challenge".

"I guess I never really thought about how hard it would have been for you to hide it all at school".

"I had to kind of learn how to be a normal high school student. Everything was just so foreign to me that I always two steps behind. It was just so strange having to focus on not performing too well and drawing attention to myself. But I guess it didn't really work since everyone thought I was weird anyway".

"Well, I never found you weird. Just fascinating really" She teased.

"Is that why you would try to follow me home on my first week. Because you were fascinated?" He raised his eyebrows.

Videl looked like a dear in the headlights. "You knew I was following you?" she asked without much thought.

"Energy sensing, remember?"

"Oh, right" Her ears took on a red shade of embarrassment. "I'm surprised you never said anything. Because that's some real stalker level actions".

"Honestly I thought it was fun. I liked to see how far I could lead you before taking off without you seeing. I remember once you followed me for over half an hour".

"That's so embarrassing" She covered her face with her hands.

Gohan laughed. "I'm sure teenage you would have flipped your lid if you knew I was messing with you".

The woman huffed. "She probably would have broken her fist on that hard head of yours".

After clearing up their plates and cutlery from breakfast, Gohan took a shower of his own. Videl took the time to read over a paper that Gohan had typed and printed that sat on his coffee table. The paper might as well have been in another language with all the terminology meaning very little to the woman. Thought she did manage to get the gist of what she was reading, apparently Gohan had been writing about some form of regeneration tank that could heal major injuries in humans within a few hours.

"Bit of light reading?" The man asked, now changed into his casual wear.

"Just trying to translate some of this. You're working on some kind of healing tank?"

"Somewhat. It's more of refining the idea from a Capsule Corp invention. Though theirs are very impractical. They are too large, consume a lot of power and cost a lot to make. I'm meant to present this to a panel of experts to hopefully get funding and an engineering team that might be able to help".

"Can't you ask Bulma yourself?" She asked, remembering how closely the Son family appeared to be with the Briefs.

"I'm sure she would happily take on the project if I asked. But I would rather go about it the professional way. I want to know that my colleagues can respect my ideas without just doing things without approval, simply because I can".

"Well, I can respect that" She smiled. "I like someone who can solve their own problems" Placing the paper down, she looked out the window to the balcony. "Do you think you could give me a lift back to my place in Satan City? I kind of need to grab some of my own clothes if you were still planning on taking me out to finish your story like you said".

The man nodded. "Sure thing. Satan City is our destination anyway".

Arriving at Videl's inner city apartment, the woman proceeded to pick out a set of clothes. Her apartment wasn't as lavish as Gohan's. It was modest, two bedrooms, a bathroom, in a medium sized apartment building that was a stones throw from the main shopping strip in the city. The apartment wasn't as well maintained as the Saiyans. Police reports were strewn about the place and some dishes had yet to be put away.

"Sorry about the mess. I wasn't expecting to bring anyone home with me" She chuckled. Stepping out of her room sporting some simple active wear.

Gohan waved a dismissive hand. "No big deal. It's a pretty nice place. But I'll be honest, I expected you to be living in some penthouse on account of your father".

"I haven't accepted a single Zeni from him since I moved out. I wanted to make it on my own out here, instead of coasting off his fortune" She began rifling through her bag for her belongings before turning back to the man. "So, where are we headed?"

"You wanted the rest of the story, right? Then we've got to meet up with the someone so I can tell you all the details".

"Oh, a friend of yours?"

"Not exactly"

Videl eyed the gaudy mansion with surprise. She turned to her boyfriend with an inquisitive stare. "And why did you take us to my father's house?"

Gohan sighed. "You're just going to have to trust me on this one. I know you don't like secrets, but it will all make sense soon. Let's just see if we can find your father".

"He might not even be home. He's always taking spur of the moment holidays these days"

"Trust me. He's home"

"Energy sensing?"

Gohan nodded. "I can sense him around the back of the house"

After being let in by the servants. Videl navigated the house to the back door, where Hercule could be seen, lounging in the son by the pool, a newspaper in hand and a glass of whiskey on a table beside him.

"Dad?" The woman called out. Taking a step forward to her father.

The man whipped his head around, a broad grin on his face. "Videl!" He jumped from his chair and made a dash towards her, pulling her into a warm embrace. "I wasn't expecting to see you here. But I'm glad you decided to visit your old man"

Videl laughed. "It's good to see you too. Sorry I haven't visited sooner. But work has been keeping me very busy".

"Oh, I know how important your police work is. Everyone in Satan City knows how much work we Satan's do to keep them safe from harm" He bellowed with an arrogant laugh. "I've been busy as well. Training very hard"

"Yeah. I can see that" She stared at the whiskey beside him.

Suddenly, Hercule noted the figure who was standing several feet behind his daughter. He noted the features of the young man, his physique, and the jet-black hair. There was a sense of familiarity that he couldn't quite place. Something that brought him back a decade to the whole Majin Buu fiasco.

"Videl. Who is this?" He asked hesitantly.

The man slowly took several strides forward. He held his hand outstretched.

"Dad. This is Gohan. He was one of the people I went to high school with. And we met up at the reunion last night".

"Mr. Satan. It's good to see you again. You're looking well" Gohan commented.

Instantly the wave of dread and fear instilled itself in Hercule's mind. There was no mistaking it now. This was the same boy who had defeated Cell and was part of the group who had fought against Buu all those years ago.

"Wait, you two know each other?" Videl asked.

"We've ran into each other a few times" Gohan nodded, making up for Mr. Satan's lack of response who merely had his jaw hanging low. "But we haven't crossed paths for over a decade now"

"Why didn't you tell me about this sooner".

Gohan let out a heavy breath. "That's one of the reasons I brought you here. See, there's a lot more to this story. And your father is the person we needed to meet up with to discuss it further".

"What do you have to do with Gohan dad?" She questioned.

Hercule looked back and forth from his daughter to the young man. Still remaining silent.

"Videl. Can you perhaps give us a few moments? I think there is something I would rather run by him first"

Videl eyed him sceptically. "I'm starting to feel a bit left in the dark here"

"I promise, you'll get your closure. But this is really important. Okay?" He flashed her a reassuring smile.

The woman noted the sincerity in his tone and how soft his features were. She silently hoped that his damnable charm wouldn't be used as leverage against her for much longer. Because she doubted, she could resist it. Without another word, she nodded and headed back inside, closing the door behind her.

Gohan looked over to the man. "Why don't we take a seat?" He suggested.

Mr. Satan however did not budge. "You're… You're really him, aren't you? The delivery boy… The one who fought Buu in that desert".

Gohan nodded. "So, you remember everything? I wasn't sure if you would recognise me after all these years".

Hercule gaped. He hadn't expected to be recognised. Was he serious? Since when does someone forget something so life changing and earth shattering? The entire population of earth had perished during Majin Buu's rampage, including his own daughter. And through some miracle which he did not understand, they were resurrected, though, with no memory of what had transpired during that time. Flashbacks to watching this young man fight a battle with Buu in the wasteland came back to him. As did the battle against Cell.

"Is Mr. Buu still around? I heard he was training with Vegeta recently".

"He… He's out in space, fighting aliens or something" The older man stammered out.

"Ah, I see. I take it he's been keeping his power concealed while he lives with you".

Mr. Satan nodded slowly. "He's a bit hard to control sometimes. But he mostly keeps things hidden well enough. It was more complicated when Videl use to live here. Having to explain how a giant pink man was suddenly joining us"

"I suppose that must have been difficult, considering how nosey she can be".

Hercule's eyebrows furrowed and her sent the man a warning glare. "And why are you hanging around with my daughter anyway"

"Well, you probably don't know this. But we attended high school together. And we met up at the reunion last night and got to talking about some things"

Hercule rose to his feet. "Listen here buster. I don't know what it is exactly you're planning here, but Videl is my little girl, and I won't be allowing her to hang around with any strange boys. I forbid any man who can't best me in a fight from seeing my daughter".

Gohan chuckled. "Well, I'm didn't exactly come here to challenge you to any fights" He paused, slowly beginning to stand. "But if that's what it must come to, then who am I to stand down".

The older man frantically began waving his hands in front of him. "Woah. Take it easy there kid. Don't be destroying anything on me here. I didn't mean to offend you" He sighed in relief as Gohan lowered himself back down. "So, what exactly have you been talking to Videl about then?"

"I'm going to be honest with you here sir. Videl and I spoke extensively last night about various things regarding my background and upbringing. As you have probably noticed by now, I'm not exactly normal. Someone filled you in on the Saiyan's back when we were fighting Buu, right?"

The man nodded. "The tall green one did say a thing or two about them. Something about them being super powerful aliens. Wait, you aren't one of them, are you?"

"Yeah, that's them. You see, my father, the one wore the orang gi. He was my father, and he is a full blooded Saiyan. My mother is a human, so I'm technically a half breed"

"And you told Videl about this?"

"That, and many other things. Including the about how flight is possible, the existence of life outside our world and how all those light tricks you talked about are real fighting techniques"

"You told her about it all?" His eyes widened with horror as her received a nod in response. "What about…" He looked around, before leaning in close. "The Cell games?"

Gohan shook his head. "That's the reason I brought her here. See, I'm not comfortable with telling her about all that without giving you the opportunity to break it to her yourself".

Mr. Satan pointed a finger accusingly at the man. "You expect me to just tell my daughter about all of it, so you look like a hero to her? No chance you little runt. I don't care how many giant bugs you kill. I refuse".

Gohan shrugged. "I'm not here seeking any form of permission or compliance from you. In fact, whether or not you tell Videl yourself is entirely on you. If you refuse, then I will just tell her myself, and you will have no input into what I say. I'm merely here to give you the chance to do right by your daughter. She grew up living a lie, orchestrated by her own father. I could have told her ten years ago about all of it and that would have been the end of it. Luckily for you though, I didn't. Out of respect for you, man to man, you can either step up and lay it all out for her. Or you can back down and let me decide where things go from here. It's up to you Sir".

Head hanging low, Hercule knew that this young man in front of him was giving him an opportunity he did not deserve. Nearly all her life, Videl had believed his deceit and boasts. And despite affording her a life where she needn't worry about financial problems, she had built an identity around her father's newfound fame, power, and success. She used to aspire to reach the heights of her father, following his legacy and proving that the Satan family were born combatants. And for that, Hercule felt nothing but shame.

"I've been a real failure as a father, haven't I?" Her buried his face in his hands.

Gohan was shocked with himself. After all these years, he figured this moment would have held some level of satisfaction for him. After all, despite not ever wanting credit for his bloodshed. The Son man also disapproved of some of Mr. Satan's actions and comments that tarnished the image of his group who put their lives on the line for his and the worlds safety. However, in these moments of self-pity that he was witnessing. There was a sense of sympathy and understanding that went along with his. "I can't really speak too much to the whole parents' thing, considering I don't have any kids of my own. But I can tell you only ever wanted what was best for Videl".

Hercule sighed. "I just wanted to protect her. The sudden success came so fast after the Cell Games. And she just idolised me so much. I didn't realise how selfish I was before it was too far in. Hurting my little girl was the last thing I wanted to do".

"That's just the thing" Gohan said, placing a reassuring hand on the man's shoulder. "Videl isn't a little girl anymore. She's a grown woman, living all on her own. At this point in her life, she deserves to know the truth. And she can handle it".

"How can you be so sure? Why is this so important to you?" Hercule looked the Saiyan in the eyes.

Gohan smiled. "You and I both know that Videl is strong enough to deal with this. She's been dealing with tough situations since she was young. Maybe it's selfish of me, but I personally need for Videl to know the truth"

"Why?" Hercule eyed Gohan with suspicion.

"Because I can't allow myself to be involved with someone who doesn't know about my life. And you've seen firsthand what that entails. It would be fair on her if I kept it hidden from her".

"Involved with her!" Hercule roared. "So, I was right, you do have an obsession with my daughter! Well, I forbid whatever it is you have in that head of yours".

"Let me make myself clear, Sir. I intend on continuing to see Videl. I also intend on allowing her to know the truth about both you, me, and herself. That includes both the Cell Games and our fights with Buu. So, I'm giving you one final chance to make your decision".

Walking back into the house, the pair of men found Videl sitting in the lounge room, scrolling through her phone. She looked between both me and beckoned them toward her. "You two finally done?" She asked impatiently. "What were you two talking about?"

"Not much. Just getting re-acquainted" Gohan rubbed the back of his head, taking seat across from Videl. "But we do have something that we needed to bring up with you".

"You do? Both of you?"

Gohan nodded whilst Hercule wordlessly took a seat beside his daughter.

"Everything okay dad? You're looking a little pale" Videl asked, noting that her father appeared to be almost devoid of any emotion.

"I'm fine" He reassured, though dread continued to mount within him.

"I suppose I should tell you exactly why we came to meet with your father" Gohan started. "Remember how I told you last night that we needed to continue the story of my life by meeting with someone?"

Videl nodded.

"Well, that someone is your father"

"Dad? How is he connected to all this?" She looked to her father.

The man sent his daughter a sympathetic glance, before sighing heavily. "Videl. You know how much I care about you right?"

Videl's eyebrows furrowed. "What's happening? This doesn't seem like I'm about to receive good news"

Gohan nodded slowly. "Videl, do you remember where I left the story last night?"

"Yeah. That guy from the future. Trunks, right? He warned you guys about the androids. And you ended up killing that Gero guy and one of his androids".

Gohan once again, nodded. "That's right. And this is where the story gets a little more complicated. See, after we got rid of Gero, we ended up finding another Capsule Corp time machine that had arrived on earth before Trunks had".

"A second time machine?"

"Yes. Only this one had been stolen from a different Trunks in different timeline."

Both Hercule and Videl's faces went blank at the statement. "Do you know what that means" She asked her dad. He shook his head.

"I understand how this might be a little confusing. Remember how Trunks came back in time to help my dad with his heart disease and warn us about the androids? Well, there was another timeline, where Trunks did both those things and then returned back to his timeline, where the androids were no longer a threat. However, they did not destroy Gero's lab during that time. And despite managing to eradicate both Androids 17 and 18 in his time. Trunks was overpowered and killed by Gero's secret experiment, who then stole his time machine and came back to our time".

"Woah. So, there are a bunch of these timelines then? This is really crazy. So, what was this whole secret experiment? And why did it go back in time?"

"It was Gero's greatest killing machine. And it went back in time because what it required to obtain absolute power could not be found in his time. He needed a power source to achieve his perfect form"

"Perfect form?"

Gohan breathed out heavily. "What we found near the time machine was the imperfect form of what you know as Cell"

The room went silent. Videl's eyes widened, Hercule eyed her closely, gauging her reaction and Gohan nodded slowly, expecting a response.

"Cell? As in, our Cell?" She got another nod in response. "You mean that Cell was something that came from a different time entirely?"

Hercule perked up at the fact. This was the first time he had also been privy to the origins of Cell. "You mean that freak came to us because of you guys!" He jumped out of his seat.

Gohan ran a hand through his jet-black hair. "Ironically, because Trunks did such a good job at destroying the androids, that was what lead Cell to us in the first place".

"Why would that matter though?" Videl asked.

"Because Cell was created to be the perfect lifeform. Capable of adapting and learning in ways that we couldn't hope to. Gero managed to obtain DNA from all of the fighters in our team. Using it to give Cell the genes that would allow him to be unbeatable. But there was one thing that Cell required to reach his full power and that was the other androids. See, Cell was supposed to absorb the power from both Android 17 and 18 and use it to further his strength. But when he was finally ready, Trunks returned to his timeline and rid it of the androids. So, Cell realised the only way he could achieve his perfect form, he would need to travel back in time, to when the androids were released and find them that way".

Videl sat wide eyed. "Every time you give me some added information, I can hardly believe it". She turned to her father. "Did you know about that dad?"

Her father shook his head. This was just too much to take in. Hercule had never imagined that time travel and killer cyborgs were a part of the narrative. "I had no idea who even made Cell. Let alien that he travelled through time".

"It wasn't exactly something that we advertised. We never made anything about us public knowledge. Partly for the safety of our privacy. But also, to avoid a mass panic". Gohan reasoned.

"There's just one thing that I don't understand about all this. If you guys knew about Cell before the Cell games. Why didn't you guys show up to fight him?"

Both Gohan and Hercule straightened in their seats. Mr. Satan looked at the boy, who returned the stare, shrugging to the father. "Who said we weren't there? Your dad wasn't the only one who showed up to fight Cell. There was another group who arrived that day, remember?"

Videl pondered the thought for a moment. Being sixteen years removed from the event, she needed a second to recall the broadcast. She recalled the entrance of several unknown fighters appearing to fall from the sky. Then it clicked. "Holy shit, you guys were there. The mystery fighters. I can't believe I didn't put it together before. You guys were the gold fighters. You were doing that Super Saiyan thing, right?".

Gohan smiled. "Yeah, that was us. Me, my father, Vegeta. The whole team showed up that day to face Cell".

"You were there as well? But you would have only been twelve years old…" She paused. Her eyes widened. "You were the kid that was with them! The one they said was the water boy, right?" She nearly leapt forward onto the man. "All this time, I assumed you were dead. I remember watching you fight Cell. I couldn't believe that someone my age was going toe to toe with that monster"

Gohan gave her a sad smile. "It wasn't exactly my fondest memory. I know you have a lot of questions. But we need to backtrack a moment before we can keep going".

And so Gohan explained the events of Cell being discovered and the lead up to the Cell games. Both of the Satan's sat with wide eyes as he spun his story about training in the hyperbolic time chamber, achieving super Saiyan for himself for the first time and the battles that took place with Cell prior to and after attaining his perfect form. Both father and daughter recoiled in disgust as Gohan vividly explained the process of how Cell managed to absorb both androids, using their power as his own. Eventually stopping at the morning of the Cell games commencing.

"So, your father really had some sort of plan up his sleeve?"

"That's what he kept on saying. I never really understood how he was so carefree. I mean, this was the strongest opponent we had ever faced. But he acted like it wouldn't be a problem. Even on the day, I figured he had somehow managed to access some hidden power that none of us knew about".

"So, what was it?"

"You'll find out" Gohan laughed. "But first, what exactly do you remember about the Cell games before the broadcast cut out?"

Videl hummed as she accessed her memory. "I remember dad fighting Cell first, but he tripped and got knocked out of the ring" Hercule gulped audibly. "Then that man in orange. Your dad I assume?" Gohan nodded. "He fought Cell. And I remember him giving up, saying that Cell was too strong for him. Then… He called out for you! He said Gohan!" She jumped to her feet. "That's when you fought Cell, right?"

Gohan nodded again. "It wasn't what I was expecting if I'm honest. We all just assumed that dad was going to take out Cell all on his own".

"So, why did he call on you?"

Gohan glanced toward Hercule, before turning back to Videl. "He believed that I demonstrated a power during our time in the hyperbolic time chamber that was enough to be able to beat Cell. Something that awakened whenever I got mad. You remember how I told you I managed to hurt Radditz when he I got angry?" The girl nodded. "Well, my dad figured out that whenever I was pushed into a corner and my anger engulfed me, a hidden power within me would burst out and give me crazy strength I didn't even know I had".

Videl went wide eyed. "Your father really put all that pressure on you? He forced you to fight when you had no idea about your own power?"

"He did. And you probably remember what happened next. Cell wasn't intimidated in the slightest at the threat of my power being unveiled. In fact, he only became more curious, willing to do anything just to see it. So, he started beating me, badly. I've been hit a lot since I was four years old. But the punishment I took that day was unlike anything I had experienced. Android 16 even jumped in and attempted to self-destruct to destroy Cell along with him. But even that failed".

She remembered the clips of the young man being thrown into rubble and squeezed without mercy. The way his cries and screams seemed to echo across the baron wasteland. All those who witnessed the broadcast seemed to go silent at that point in the battle. Then out of nowhere the tall man with the orang mohawk grappled with Cell before eventually being blown to pieces. The mere memory of seeing his body parts blown in several directions nearly made her sick.

"I remember that". Hercule said, his voice low and head glaring into he ground. Listening to the young man speak about the events of that fateful day. "Watching you fight that monster. I couldn't believe what I was watching". Gohan noticed the way the man's hands were clenched around his pants, shaking with frustration.

Videl snapped back to reality. Up to this moment, she had almost forgot that her dad was even in the room with the pair, or that he was actually present whilst these moments in time were actually taking place all those years ago. "Why didn't you jump in to save him dad? What were you doing at this point? And what about your group, Gohan? Surely they could have helped you"

Hercule did not remove his eyes from the ground.

"Cell was too powerful for anyone" Gohan responded, his eyes also cast down. "Anyone who interfered would have been obliterated on the spot". Videl was about to ask a follow up question, but Gohan continued. "Eventually Cell realised that my power wouldn't be brought out by just beating me. So, he turned to attacking my friends. That's when he made those little blue clones of himself, the Cell Juniors. And he set them on my dad and our friends, hoping that it would get me mad. And even that wasn't enough. I wanted to fight, I wanted to be strong enough, but I just couldn't find it within myself. That is, until Android 16's head landed right next to me, and he started talking to me. Thanks to your father".

Videl straightened and turned her attention to her father with a questioning glance. "You threw a head at someone? You never mentioned anything like that before" She informed him. "Also, how in the world was he still alive?"

"He was an android, remember? They run on the chips implanted in their brains. So, despite his body being destroyed, he could still communicate. Though I never did find out what he said to you Mr. Satan". The Saiyan looked toward Hercule.

The man grimaced, vividly recalling how the dismembered head started pleading to be taken to the young boy on the battlefield, appealing to his sense of bravery to do him the deed. "He told me that he needed to talk to you and asked one of us to bring him close enough to you so you could hear him".

"Why have you never said that before?" Videl asked curiously.

"It wasn't something I really felt like telling everyone"

His daughter seemed unconvinced from the answer but chose to leave it for the time being. For now, she turned her attention back to the story. "So, what did he have to say to you?"

Gohan turned his eyes upward, seeming to be deep in the memory of that moment. "He told me that there were some opponents like Cell could not see reason. That it was okay for me to be willing to fight on the side of justice, and I didn't need to worry about holding myself back. And lastly, to protect nature and the animals for him" He paused, his voice wavering slightly. "And then Cell killed him, right in front of me". Gohan turned his head away. The memory remained fresh in his mind, the sight of Android 16's final wish being followed by his demise was something that Gohan had never forgotten. "And since 16 wasn't human in any way, he could not be revived with the dragon balls".

Videl placed a hand over her mouth. She had heard several times how Gohan had bore witness to deaths and bloodshed. However, in all those instances, the effects of death had been beaten thanks to the use of the Shenron's power. But now, hearing how that wouldn't be the case, Videl couldn't help but empathise with her boyfriend. She leaned over and placed a hand over his knuckles. "I'm so sorry, Gohan". Gohan nodded slowly. Videl could hardly fathom how the man was so positive in his outlook of life after all that he had witnessed. It just wasn't fair, for such a young kid to be forced to fight for his life and for the fate of a world that hadn't given him an ounce of recognition or thanks for his deeds. She couldn't think of a single person who would be either emotionally, mentally, or physically stable after all he had endured.

Gohan swallowed the lump in his throat before continuing. "That was what gave Cell all that he had asked for. Watching 16 die, it made me angrier than I've ever been in my life. All of that hidden power came flowing out of me. And that was what caused the broadcast to cut out. My power being released".

The room went silent as Gohan collected his thoughts. Videl slowly stood from her seat, setting herself down next to the man, rubbing his back as he smiled sadly. "It's never easy to remember that day. And I wish that things got easier from then on. But it only got worse. The Cell Games were far from over".

Hercule meanwhile had his fists clenched. He felt an overwhelming sense of frustration towards himself. After all this time, he had been coasting off an accomplishment that belonged the man in front of him. Whilst he was living a lavish lifestyle, reaping the benefits of a lie. Gohan was mourning the loss of a friend and dealing with the trauma that witnessing such an even had caused. 'A twelve-year-old kid' he said in his mind. 'A kid, fighting to save all our lives. While all I did was fake a stomach-ache and deny that it was nothing but a cheap trick. Not even bothering to fork over a single Zeni to him and his family'.

"I'm such an idiot" Hercule said softly. "I'm sorry kid. I didn't just fail my daughter. I failed you as well. I shouldn't have done what I did, after all you had done".

Gohan stared at the man, he wasn't anticipating such a statement. Though he could tell where the man was coming from. Videl, however, was perplexed. "What are you talking about dad. When did you fail? You beat Cell and saved Gohan, didn't you?"

Hercule sighed, he supposed he was arrogant in thinking that this wouldn't ever catch up to him. "Videl. I want to apologise for what I've done. I didn't mean to do this to you".

Videl went to retort, but she felt a squeeze in her hand. She looked down to see her hand completely covering her own. She met Gohan's glance, there was a look that seemed to say, 'just listen'. Hesitantly, she obeyed the message.

"I know that all this time you've believed me to be invincible. That I'm the world champ, never beaten, never bested. I know that you looked up to me. But the truth is, I'm just a man". He paused. His eyes travelled from his lap to his daughter's face. "I always wanted to do what I felt was best for you. And I hope that after all this, you can find it in yourself to forgive me for what I have done, and what I have kept from you"

He looked to Gohan who sent him reassurance with a nod and half smile.

"The truth is… I never actually fought Cell a second time. The first time he beat me, he knocked me out of the ring like I was nothing but an ant. I did not trip and there were no light tricks. The truth is, I was powerless to beat him".

"What are you talking about dad? That doesn't make any sense"

"Videl" Hercule started as if he were talking to a young girl again. However, he was quickly cut off.

"I don't understand. What are you saying? How did you beat Cell if you never fought him again?" Videl stood from her chair.

Silence ticked by, not a word was said in response. Videl felt her breathing begin to pick up. She noticed how dejected her father looked. "Dad? Answer me! What are you saying? What about the dynamite kick? The way you beat Cell, remember?"

Hercule shook his head. "It never happened, Videl" He spoke softly. "It never happened. I made it up".

The woman felt a tear run down her cheek. "It wasn't real? How could it not be real? You said so yourself, you beat Cell, you killed him. You want to tell me that was made up as well?"

"Videl, please just…"

"Answer me dad!" She pleaded. In the back of her mind, hearing Gohan's side of the story, she knew that somewhere along the way, it did not match with her fathers. The way Gohan spoke about energy and his run in with various intergalactic powers, it almost felt too much for even her father to manage. Yet, she still held the firm belief that her father had at least proved he was a capable warrior himself by beating Cell. Yet, it was clear to her that Gohan was beyond the capabilities of any human, even her father. She just needed to know that she was wrong in thinking that.

"Videl" Gohan said.

"What!" She reeled on him.

"Give your dad a chance to speak. Please" He tugged her arm. His deep voice and calming aura settled her nerves slightly. Inhaling a deep breath, she took her seat.

Had the circumstances been different, Mr. Satan would have throttled the man for daring to lay a hand on his daughter. But in this situation, he was intrigued by how quickly she seemed to respond to his words. As if they shared a connection, one that reminded him of how his deceased wife would calm with a single touch of her hand.

"Mr. Satan. Please continue" Gohan said.

"Right" Hercule shook his head, breaking away from the thought. "I know this is a lot to hear right now Videl. And I really meant it when I said I hope you can forgive me for this. Even if not right away, maybe someday… I never killed Cell that day, in fact, I faked my stomach-ache because I knew just how outmatched I really was. The one who really killed Cell was the young boy with blonde hair. This man, right here. While I coward behind a rock for safety, he fought Cell by himself. And eventually killed him, saving us all". He paused, hanging his head in shame. "Before anyone could see what happened, his group took off to get Gohan treatment. The broadcast came back, and I took the credit for saving the world".

You could hear a pin drop. Both men watched Videl carefully as she started to tremble after hearing the information. "How… How could you…" She said, tears starting to run down her face. "How could you do such a thing!" She roared, pointing an accusing finger at her father. "You lied to everyone… You lied to me. You made us all believe that you were our hero! All while it was Gohan!" She started sobbing.

"I'm so sorry Videl… I never meant to…."

"Stay away from me! I lived my whole life believing your bullshit. Believing that you were a hero. But you're nothing but a coward. A con artist, taking advantage of the suffering of real heroes for your own selfish reasons. And even worse, you publicly denounced them, saying they were tricksters and frauds!"

Hercule's eyes widened in horror. This was the first time he had seen this look of pure hatred in his daughter.

"You have the audacity to ask for forgiveness? I idolised you, I wanted to live up to your legacy. Why the hell should I forgive you, after I built an identity around your lies and deceit? You knew what I was aiming for, yet you did nothing about it". She paused, looking at Gohan. "If it weren't for Gohan. Would you have ever told me about all of this?"

"This isn't…" Gohan started, but Videl was clearly beyond any reasoning from an outside source.

"I need him to answer me, Gohan" she said sternly. "I need to know just how far he was willing to go to keep up this con of his".

Part of Hercule was seething inside, this was exactly what he hoped wouldn't happen. Here Gohan was, looking like the hero, exposing the truth, whilst Videl put the blame on him. But the other side of Hercule knew, this was what he had coming. Gohan wasn't to blame for his misfortune, he was doing what Hercule should have done as a father, a long time ago.

"Honestly, I never thought about telling anyone about this" Mr. Satan responded, he knew that it would hurt her, but she needed honesty at this point. No more lies. "Not even you Videl"

"What about all those years, training me. Was that even real? Or were you just using me to keep our family name relevant? Did you have any real care when I won the junior tournament?"

"I've never felt more pride, than the day I watched you hoist that trophy. Watching you smile that day, I realised that I couldn't bear to ever hurt you. Not when you had done so much to follow in my footsteps. I only wanted what was best for you".

"Shut up!" Videl said through the tears. "Just shut up". She began sobbing into her hands. "I… I…"

"Videl. I know that you feel hurt right now. But you don't say anything you're going to regret" Gohan warned.

"Everything I've believed for the last sixteen years has been a lie. I can't just forget this Gohan"

"I understand. But at the end of the day. He's your father. You two are family. I've been in enough fights to understand just how important family can be. I've also seen enough foe redeem themselves, so I know that everyone has the potential to do good and make up for past mistakes".

Videl sniffled. "How can you be so positive right now? He stole your credit from you. He tarnished the legacies of everyone there that day. I could never forgive someone who did that".

Gohan looked to Hercule who was remaining silent, but carefully observing. "While I can't condone the comments, he directed at us. I also have to thank him for what he's done. Unintentionally, your father has provided exactly what we needed at the time. I could never accept the credit for killing Cell. I didn't mention it earlier, but my dad died that day as well. He didn't come back to life until seven years later"

Videl's eyes widened at the fact.

"The short of it is that he sacrificed himself to stop Cell from self-destructing and blowing up the entire planet. So, at the time, I had just lost my father and a good friend. And soon found out that my mother was pregnant with Goten. Not to mention I was also still twelve. I was hardly the person to be thrust into the spotlight. I couldn't provide the people of earth what they needed. Your father, however, could. He's charismatic and people listen to his every word".

"So, you're saying he's a good liar" She stated dryly.

"Maybe so. But he also stood as a beacon for people to believe. If the world found out I was part alien, there would be mass panic. Cell was already believed to be some sort of alien by people. It wouldn't help for everyone to know that there were people like me, walking around with enough power to blow up the entire planet on a whim. The world needed someone who could lead them through that crisis. The entire world watched entire cities be laid to ruin. Then suddenly, they were brought back to life. The fact that Mr. Satan could avoid a world-wide disaster by using his bravado is quite exceptional".

Videl shook her head. "You really are something, you know that?" She smiled sadly. "Even back in high school you could have told everyone about this and ruined my image as a form of revenge. Any normal person would have for how you were treated. And now you're here, defending my father and telling me that I shouldn't hate him for lying to me since I was a teenager".

"I grew up fighting. So, I prefer to avoid it when I can, I've had my share of hitting people" He chuckled. "I've also had my fill of seeing terrible things happen. Don't let this consume you Videl".

The woman turned to look back at her father. "So, you're saying I should forgive him".

"That's up to you. If you forgive someone to please someone else, you aren't being very truthful. I'm just asking that you understand your father, remember all the good he has done. And maybe down the line you can forgive in your own time. But please don't allow hate into you".

Videl rubbed her temple vigorously. It didn't feel natural for something like this to be forgiven and forgotten. After all, Videl Satan had a reputation of not tolerating lies. Even from an early age she refused to associate with the untrustworthy sort, and that trait had extended into her police work where she was adamant in bringing to justice the most conniving of shady persons. Now, she was presented with a con that had lasted for over sixteen years, one that had been used against the entire world's population. She thought back to all the acquired wealth that her family had suddenly been presented with during those years of peace. People flocked to her father for guidance, acknowledgement and out of respect for his power. She had personally seen him flaunt this fame for his own benefit, more than happy to accept their thanks and donations to his cause, which consisted of little besides the company of various women, hard alcohol, and personal holidays to exotic locations.

Thought it was not as if her father was completely devoid of care for the common people. She had personally seen him make generous donations to various charities, make contributions to local communities, and inspire many people to do good for their peers. She felt conflicted. Her father had utilised his opportunity to gain himself a carefree life where everything would be afforded to him without a single thought. Yet he had also used it to the benefit of those who needed it on occasion.

"I can't forgive you" Videl spoke, looking towards her father. "Not yet at least. But I don't hate you for what you did. I know you never intended to hurt anyone, you succumb to greed in a moment of madness and death. I can't excuse you for that".

Hercule's upper lip quivered, as he nodded, understanding what his daughter was saying.

"But I know you can still do good from all of this. I've seen you do it firsthand. If you swear to me that you're willing to use the Zeni you earn from here on to help those in need. If you want to label yourself as a saviour, then start acting like one to the people. It's the least you could do".

Mr. Satan shed a tear. "You don't want me to tell the world about my lies?"

Videl looked to Gohan and smiled. "I think Gohan said it best. The world needs a hero. While I think it would be the right thing. At this point, it would only cause further chaos after all these years if you were to confess. I hate lying more than anyone. But it's the lesser of two evils, we risk throwing the world into disrepair, or we allow for these times of peace to keep going".

"I promise. I'll do anything to earn back your trust. No matter what it takes. Even if I'm down to my last Zeni. I love you Videl. You'll always be my daughter"

Videl cracked a small smile to her father. There was a conviction in his tone that she felt was not misplaced. In fact, this is exactly what she needed to hear from the man. Before his encounter with Cell, Hercule had always been prideful and willing to stand to any challenge. In hindsight, Videl realised he had lost that spark when he returned home as saviour of humanity. Now though, she felt a reignition of the fire within him. "I believe you dad. And I know that one day we can go back to normal. Just please, don't ever lie to me again, okay?"

Hercule nodded vigorously.

"Good. Then I say we wrap up the rest of this story then. I'm dying to hear exactly what happened after that broadcast ended, now that I know my boyfriend here is the real person who saved our asses"

Hercule rose with a roar. "Boyfriend!"

The next half hour went by with Gohan going into great detail of the thrilling conclusion of the Cell Games. He explained how he had attained a new level beyond that of a Super Saiyan and how he had disposed of the Cell Juniors single-handedly and given Cell himself a rough beating of his own. Both father and daughter sat in silence as he explained his father's sacrifice and parting words before teleporting himself to another plane of existence. Then came epic beam struggle for the fate of the world. Even Hercule was on the edge of his seat, listening to the tale. He even wondered at parts of the story if Gohan was actually capable of winning, even though he had actually seen it firsthand.

"After that, I just blacked out. I didn't wake up until Dende revived me on the lookout. It all kind of blurred together from there. We eventually managed to wish back everyone who had been killed by Cell. With the exception of my father who decided to remain dead".

"Why didn't he want to come back?" Videl queried.

"He said that every villain that we had faced up to that point had been sent for him. So, to avoid any future conflicts, he felt it would be best if he didn't return and draw more unwanted attention"

"Did it work at least?"

"Somewhat. We didn't have any other aliens or androids attack us for a while. Seven years actually, and that was the longest period of peace we'd ever had up till that point".

"Wait, there was another monster? How many times do you have to fight these things?"

"More times than I'd like" He chuckled.

Just then, a small Labrador came bolting in the room, yapping whilst it ran around in circles. Hercule ran around the room to try and subdue the dog, however it quickly became a game of chase as the dog was darting under furniture to escape. As it passed Gohan though, it quickly stopped and cocked a head to one side. The man held his hand out to the dog, which gave him an experimental sniff. A second later, his tail began wagging and he leapt into the Saiyans familiar arms.

Gohan laughed as the dog licked his face. "Good to see you again. I'm surprised you remembered me" He looked over the dog. Unsurprisingly, there were notable signs of aging from ten years ago. Though there was as till a youthful exuberance in his eyes that hadn't dimmed over that time.

"You know Bee?" Videl asked, watching the scene curiously. She also noted how adorably gentle the man was with the young dog.

"He was still a puppy when I last saw him. I thought he would have forgot all about me".

"He's a loyal one" Hercule stated, taking a seat after running around. "I doubt he could forget a friend like you"

Gohan smiled.

Videl meanwhile puffed her cheeks. "Someone want to fill me in about all of this?"

Gohan cleared his throat. "Right. Well, you see Videl. There may actually have been another threat to earth that was greater than Cell. A being that has existed since the dawn of time, who was reawakened ten years ago with the intention of destroying the entire universe".

"After all you've told me up to this point. I can hardly be surprised"

"Can't fault that". He laughed. "But you should know, there is another secret that your father and I have kept from you and even the entire world. And this has to do with someone very familiar to you".

"What!" She stood up.

"Before you get mad at your father again. You need to listen and understand. Your father was given specific instructions not to talk about any of this".

"Who told him to do that?"

"We did" The man said with a neutral tone and was relieved when Videl appeared to calm down. "The reason we needed for this to be kept a secret is because it has to do with a friend of yours. Mr. Buu."

And so, another fantastical tale ensued, Gohan explained the origins of Majin Buu and the reason for him being awoken from his capsule. He recalled the events that he had endured which saw him battle the demon king Dabura and witnessing the rebirth of the pink menace. How he was presumed dead and transported to other world to train. Hercule would then chime in, explaining the state of earth and his encounters with what would then be known as the innocent side of Buu. Several parts of the story were hazy, as neither men were actually present to witness them, but Gohan did his best to piece it together from stories he had gotten from his father. Eventually, Hercule was to take over the story, as Gohan was no longer alive to witness the battle in the land of kai's, as he had been eradicated alongside the entire earth.

"We then used the Dragon Balls to wish back all of those who had died during the entire fiasco" Gohan explained. "But we were at a crossroads. The good side of Buu had survived the battle, and we had no reason to kill him. So, we made the wish to wipe the entire world's memories of Majin Buu so that he could live a normal life alongside everyone".

"You mean, my memories about Mr. Buu were taken away, so he could live in our house?" She questioned.

"That's right. He wasn't like his evil side. We knew that he deserved to be happy, but the world wouldn't be ready to accept him, and never would be. His destruction of cities during the influence of Babidi and while still carrying his evil side had been publicly broadcasted. We needed for everyone to forget about it all".

"So, I died. And I don't remember a single thing about it?"

Gohan nodded. "I know it's a lot to take in. It's not exactly an easy thing to come to terms with. I understand if you feel betrayed".

Videl paused, but slowly shook her head. "I'm not mad. I guess I'm just confused as to how I should feel".

The woman was struggling to process everything. She had actually been taken away from her body, sent to another plane of existence, yet it was all a mental blank for her. She wanted to feel angry. But she simply couldn't. It wasn't as if she deserved any special treatment at the time, Gohan hardly owed her anything at that time in their lives. Why would he have spared her memories? And her father, he knew about Mr. Buu, about how at one point in time, he had killed millions across the world. But he wasn't doing this for greed. He genuinely cared about the wellbeing of his friend. And when you're asked to keep something quiet by a room full of planet busters, she couldn't fault him for doing just that. He may not have fought Buu, but he had just as much influence during that time than anyone else.

"I guess, I should be thanking you for what you've done" She paused. "Both of you. It sucks to know that I can't remember any of it and am ignorant to the feeling of dying. But you guys saved our asses again, so for that, I can give you a pass I suppose". She smiled. "There aren't any other evil monsters, right?"

Gohan chuckled. "For now"

Leaving the Satan household was a bittersweet affair. Videl still hadn't forgiven her father for the Cell Games, but she had for Mr. Buu. But she knew this grudge wouldn't last too long, he was still her father, and she knew he wasn't going to wallow in self pity over the issue. For the first time in a while, he was going to get off his butt and do something to fix this.

Flying back to West City in Gohan's arms was a relaxing experience. The pair fell into a comfortable silence as they jetted through the sky. Videl studied the man. Never in her wildest dreams would she have imagined that such a man was even possible. He was a defender, one who risked his life from the age of four to protect humanity. Yet, no one knew of his bloodshed. He was honest, caring, respectful and cared little for personal fame and titles. Not to mention just being in his presence filled her with an overwhelming sense of safety and giddiness. If this is what love truly felt like, she was more than happy to let it last the rest of her life.

Arriving at the balcony, the couple looked over the city. "Big day, huh?" Gohan said.

"More mentally taxing than I was anticipating" She responded.

"Sorry that you had to experience it all in one day. It can't have been easy"

"Much easier than what you've endured for this stupid rock floating in space" She laughed, leaning into his side, her arms wrapped around him.

"So, you aren't scared? Knowing everything you know? Knowing that any day, things could go south again"

She shook her head. "I would be. But I know that as long as you're here, I don't have to worry".

He looked down on her, a smile tugging on his lips. "You've given me more of a reason to protect this life at all costs. And more of a reason to appreciate the peace that we have now". Leaning down, he met her lips in a brief kiss.

"You know" Videl laughed to herself. "You're lucky that I never found out about your secret identity back in high school"

"Why's that"

"I always planned that if I proved it was you, I was going to force you to teach me how to fly. And probably would have forced you to fight me in that world tournament"

Gohan laughed. "I'm not surprised. I wonder how things would have turned out for if you had done that back then"

Videl giggled. "I would have loved to have seen that. You would have buckled and agreed to all my demands. Considering how shy you were"

Gohan rubbed the back of his neck. "It would have been something. That's for sure"

Stepping back inside, the couple took it upon themselves to rest after a long day. Videl fell asleep soon after, cuddling up to Gohan, a wide grin on her face. If this is where her future lead her, then all she had, was time to enjoy it.
