Another old gamer fanfic long overdue and forgotten in my folder. Not sure how this will be received. I always had a weakness for world colliding and conflict breaking between vastly different groups.
EDIT: Forgot to add additional things to the stat window for one of the characters.

[Alliance Announcement]
{Major Bubba Kusssh}
New Outland Region Exploration
FTAO: {Outland Expedition Certified}
Attention! We will be mounting an expedition into the upcoming new Outland region in 15 minutes, so we'll be forming up in the Main Operating Base. Please sync with its voice channel.
Remember that you should only bring necessary equipment with you or you'll risk losing everything upon death in the Outlands. We'll be going in completely blind like {Troop Captain Sintard} and those brave unfortunate souls who were put under his command during last night's organized skirmish, so be prepared for anything.
Some of you may die, many of you I'm certain, but it's a sacrifice we're willing to make.
{Mercenary}! Please organize at the Right Wing of the Main Operating Base and see {Captain Mockeyes} and {Lieutenant Huang} for further instructions.
Let's do this, gamers! Glory to Avalon-Estria!

In my defense, I thought the enemies were, with their fancy uniforms and flags, harmless distractions.

[World of Remnant]
[Sanus Continent, Kingdom of Vale]
[Emerald Forest]
"… And this is where I found Ren again!" Nora Valkyrie waves her hand widely at an overhead hanging tree branch. "Well, I dropped in on him, but that's not important! You should have seen him take on that two-headed Grimm all by himself!" The orange hair girl made a chopping motion with her hand. Her aqua-colored eyes beaming brightly as she reenacts what she saw. "With his bare hands, he palmed strike that two-headed snake and made its head explode!"
"Oooooh…" A blond girl with lilac-colored eyes, Yang Xiao Long, made an O shape with her mouth as she listens intently to Nora's retelling of Lie Ren's tussle during the Beacon Academy Initiation.
"That's amazing, Ren!" A blue-eyed blond boy named Jaune Arc exclaims, "I can't imagine how I would hold up against a Grimm like that. With my bare hands at that…"
"Thank you." Lie Ren, or Ren for short, is a quiet boy with black hair with a pink stripe that matches his eye color. "But despite what Nora made it sound like, I had great difficulties when I encountered the King Taijitu."
"Ugh. I can't believe I got caught up in the food fight…" Weiss Schnee, a white-haired and blue-eyed girl, groans for the fifth time at her participation in yesterday's greatest food fight in history.
"Both teams were caught up in the moment." Pyrrha Nikos brush away a strain of her head hair, bright green eyes shining underneath the forest shade. "We were lucky that our punishment was to clean up the mess we made on the floors and walls."
"Not to mention you were being overly dramatic in playing your part as a fallen teammate while Ruby's the grieving teammate." A cat faunus with black hair and amber-colored eyes, Blake Belladonna, gently bumps Weiss on the arm with her elbow and smirks at the heiress's grimacing face.
"I might have gotten carried away." Ruby Rose bashfully rubs the back of her head. "But wasn't that cool? It's just like in the stories where a hero grieves for his fallen comrade and is suddenly imbued with heroic powers, sweeping away his enemies in one go!" Her silver eyes dance excitedly in tune with her swaying black hair with red tips. "I totally won that food fight singlehandedly."
Nora crosses her arm with a smug look, "That was a fluke, and we're going to win in the upcoming Vytal Festival!"
"I'm definitely taking that up as a challenge." Yang sized up the smaller girl and grinning, "I still haven't thanked you for launching me into the sky with that watermelon hammer during the food fight."
"You're on!"
"We're a few weeks away from the Vytal Festival." Weiss flatly cuts in, "Don't cause too much trouble or neither team might be able to compete."
"Boo. You're no fun." Nora slumps dejectedly and rests the handle of her giant hammer on her shoulder. "Remind me again why we're out here again?"
"Well, with the training ground filled with students from the other Huntsman Academies and the third-years working on their assignments in Forever Fall," Pyrrha counts with her fingers, listing off the hassle they had gone through to find somewhere to train. "Emerald Forest is the only place available."
The majority of the students from the other Huntsman Academies are currently sightseeing around Vale. There's a possibility that every area suitable for sparring would be packed once they've settled down. Because of this prospect, Team RWBY and Team JNPR, led by Ruby and Jaune respectively, had decided to seek permission to use Emerald Forest as their training ground. While the forest is near the school campus, numerous Creatures of Grimm are always prowling around the forest, so they shouldn't be careless out there.
This in turn limits some of their training, but they could improvise. After all, each team had at least one destructive team member, that being Yang and Nora. They will need the extra space that only the forest can provide.
"Pssh! We could have just taken the training ground ourselves with just eight of us." Nora points at the forest around them, "Most of the Grimm here isn't even that strong. Sure, we'll be sparring with each other, but where's the excitement?! The tension, the fight for our lives! It's going to be boring!"
Weiss pinches her forehead, "Don't be so dramatic."
"Says the Ice Queen playing her part."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
Ren allowed himself a small smile as his partner playfully taunts the white-haired girl. However, he can't shake the feeling that something is amiss. A gut feeling. A feeling with an important lesson attached to it.
Be careful what you wish for.

[Alliance Territory, Avalon-Estria Sovereignty's]
[Alliance Center Fortress, Eden]
It's not often the players of Remnant: Online experience a massive update patch focusing on the Outlands. A new massive world to explore and conquer, along with some quality improvements.
Many individuals, groups, and alliances will be taking their first step into the new regions, seeking to establish themselves in unexplored lands. An occurrence like this on a weekend would draw many players out of their usual activities or inactivity. It's a perfect chance for them to gain fame, glory, and riches. With many alliances and individuals pouring into the new Outland region, there'll be many land grabs and clashes before things settle down.
New coalitions will be formed and broken between alliances and fierce battles for resource-rich lands will be fought. It's an exciting prospect for many, especially for large alliances such as the Avalon-Estria Sovereignty alliance.
Deep within the alliance territory, members of Avalon-Estria flock towards their Center Fortress, Eden. A massive fortified castle was constructed along the mountains. Their weapons are holstered, gears accounted. Everyone gathered on a wide-open field, eagerly waiting for the interdimensional gate to the new Outland region to open.
"Hey, Ian! Haven't seen you in a while!" A teen with dirty blond hair at fair length and light brown eyes ran up to staircase to greet a familiar face. "You ready for this?"

"It's the ones with all proofs and writings?"
"Yeah, and I don't want to talk about it."
"Fair enough."
"But I did pass though."
The two lean on the rails of the stone balcony, overlooking the Main Operating Base field that's almost packed with alliance members. The air is filled with loud chatter as they socialized with one another to kill time. The chattering begins to die down per the ticking timer. One minute left. It won't be long before the gate opens, allowing them to march into the new Outland region.
As the countdown begins, one of the high-ranking members, 'Colonel' Alexaroth, leaps onto a floating platform to address the crowd.

"Alright! Shut up, shut up, shut up!" His loud voice carried through the chattering contingent of players. "The gate is about to open so those who are part of the Recon teams or Expeditionary Task Force step forth and get ready to die to whatever is on the other side. I also call dibs on Deqoin's boots, so get out there and make us proud."
"No. Fuck you. You furry."
"Are you disrespecting your commanding officer?"
"Yes. Does this mean I'll finally be demoted?"
"No. More paperwork for you."
Laughter and friendly jeers ripples through the crowd as those who were assigned to the Recon and ETF march up with looks of amusement on their faces.
The racket quickly died and their attention shifts to the pillar of light blazing up to the sky. Faint images of scenic views flicker within the gate, displaying glimpses of the world ahead of them. With the gates to the new Outland region opened, the advanced team proceed through the gates with strings of excited whooping and laments.
"Good luck!" Roland cheered on the advanced team, then turn to his friend. "So, is your little cousin joining us?"
"Who? Kieran?"
Despite being a university student with nothing more than a work-study job, Ian is taking care of his little cousin, Kieran, while his parents are working overseas. Of course, he receives money from Kieran's parents to offset the financial burden. The two have an older and younger brother dynamic at times, occasionally annoying the other.
"Yeah."
"I think so. He's tracking some bounties we put out on the Dead End right now."

SmertDirt – 86,020 Lien

With his semblance making masking his presence and rendering him invisible, Kieran can easily sneak up on his unsuspecting targets without detection.
Semblance [Invisible Waltz (ACTIVE) – The user becomes invisible to all forms of senses for 25s. Enters a 12s cooldown] [Costs 170 Aura]
However, according to the intel, one of them has a semblance that can deactivate the semblances of others in a certain radius, meaning Kieran's invisibility will be dropped if he gets too close. Since his gears and stats are that of a cloak and dagger assassin instead of a sniper, he'll have to remain patient until he can get close. So, for the time being, he'll have to keep replenishing his Aura to keep up his semblance.
'Come on… Just go into the Outlands already.' Kieran mentally egged on his targets.
Once his targets enter the Outlands, he'll be able to collect not only their bounties but all their gears and money on them. That is if the fighting doesn't destroy or badly damage the loot. However, the same could be said for him should he failed to assassinate his targets, which is why he had to take a small detour to drop off his Lien and valuable gears.
One of the Dead End fighters with a skull respirator swivels his head in his direction, making the boy freeze.

His speed immediately went up several notches, becoming a blur to the untrained eye. Nearing the closing gate, Kieran hastily reduced his speed as he crossed through dimensions, enveloped by a white light.

[Sanus Continent, Kingdom of Vale]
[Emerald Forest]
"This is exactly what I was talking about!"
Weiss angrily brush away the dirt on her pristine white clothes while scowling at Yang. The two teams found a great clearing to use as a sparring ground. Unfortunately, the brief and intensive fight between Nora and Yang resulted in the sparring ground becoming nothing more than a landslide. Uneven clumps of dirt and craters litter the entire forest, making it difficult to traverse.
Now they'll have to find another part of the forest to train unless one of them wants to painstakingly smooth out the forest grounds. So far, their 'training' has been nothing more than scenic hiking for a decent training spot.
"You're wearing heels!" Nora points out while cleaning her ear. "Not my fault you slipped."
Yang nods in agreement, "She got you there."
"Guess we'll have to find another spot." Jaune scratches his head, "At least there aren't that many Grimm out here today."
"It's strange that we didn't encounter a single one this deep in Emerald Forest." Pyrrha said with a frown, "Not even a single trace of a Grimm."
The others were piqued by her statement. They too begin to wonder where all the Grimm went. Emerald Forest had been eerily quiet.
"I dunno." Nora shrugs, "Maybe something caught their attention? It's been boring without the Grimm." She narrows her eyes and hums, lips drawing up into a grin. "It's quiet. Too quiet… Detective Nora is on the case!"
The sound of grass rustling went unnoticed, except to Blake due to her cat ears being more sensitive to sound than human ears. Her cat ears twitching and turning, taking in the faint sound of grass rustling. She silently puts her hand out to make her teammates stop talking, while she listens in. Whatever it was, it's closing in at an alarming rate.
Blake drew her weapon, Gambol Shroud, and faced the direction where the sound was coming.
"Something fast is coming this way. Several, I think."
The rest of Team RWBY and JNPR upholstered their weapons without a word, preparing for the worst. A series of heavy footsteps were audible but muffled among the soil and grass. The footsteps ceased when it reached several trees toppled over from the sparring earlier, roughly fifteen meters from their position.
Everyone gripped their weapons firmly, getting into their defensive stance.
SHIING! SHIING!
Two perfect cutting patterns flash right and left across the toppled trees, branches within the cutting pattern cleanly slide off the fallen trees, healthy green leaves fluttering in pieces like cut flakes and paper sheets.
WHOOOOSH!
A sudden blast of wind shattered the fallen trees, sending splinters and dirt everywhere. Team RWBY and JNPR shield themselves from the strayed debris, squinting into the dusty air, trying to catch a glimpse of whoever or whatever was responsible for the blast.
The dusty air quickly scattered, revealing four armored and armed individuals. Three of them wore skull bandanas that obstruct their lower face. Of the four, one of them stood out from the rest.
Their apparent leader is a young man with a respirator structured like a skull and is the second tallest in the group, possessing a solid build. The young man had brown eyes and light-ash blond hair that were combed to the side leaving his forehead wide. A piece of jewelry was pierced over his left eyebrow, solidifying his appearance of a punk. Gripped in his hand is a rifle spear with a large mounted blade and barrel that indicates the bullets he uses are of large caliber.
As for the rest of his teammates, aside from one of them being a faunus as indicated by his reptilian scales, they didn't stand out much save for the weapons they wield: An axe shotgun hybrid, a large mace with a spherical head with dual circular saws, and a glaive that can transform into a rifle.
Edgy appearance aside, Team RWBY and JNPR lower their guards, assuming that they are Huntsmen and Huntresses in training like them, likely from the other Huntsman Academies.
"Didn't know there were other students out here." Yang puts a hand on her hips and gave them a cool smile. "Never saw you guys before. Which academy are you guys from? I'm Yang by the way." She jerks a thumb over to her teammates. "And this is my team."
Their leader raised an eyebrow and glance at his teammates who shared the same mild confusion on their half-obscured faces.
"Hey! Don't forget about us!" Nora pouts, "I'm Nora!"
"Lie Ren."
Everyone, baring the edgy newcomers, begins to give their introduction.
Blake warily eyed the team of Huntsman in training, sensing something off about them. Years of training in the wild with the White Fang had honed her instinct and it's telling her that these four are dangerous. She shakes away her paranoid thoughts, admonishing herself for assuming the worst of others. Students come out to Emerald Forest to train all the time like what Team RWBY and JNPR were doing.
There's even a faunus among the group of edgy-looking Huntsman in training. Likely, this team doesn't discriminate which gives her an even better reason to shelve her suspicion.
"I'm Blake." She greets them with a nod.
All that was left was her team leader, Ruby, to introduce herself.
"Ruby Rose. Leader of Team RWBY." She said proudly. "Just a normal girl with normal knees training to be a Huntress!"
"… You have silver eyes?" The young man with the skull respirator asks in an unfamiliar accent.
Blake felt her fight and flight instinct kick in when she saw the glint of greed in the young man's eyes. She had seen that kind of look before. SDC Foremen, cutthroat bandits, greedy corporates… The ones who won't mind doing whatever it takes to make a profit or getting what they want. The fact that this showcase of greed was directed at her young friend and leader made Blake's blood boil.
Meanwhile, Ruby was briefly taken aback by the young man's sudden question. She quickly recovers and gave her response without missing a beat.
"Funny you should mention that. Professor Ozpin said the same thing to me when I first met him." She massaged the corner of her eyelids, looking briefly sad. "I got them from my mother, apparently."
Her friends noticed the change in both Ruby and Yang's cheery demeanor but decided not to press the issue since it sounds very personal. They were also curious about the significance of Ruby's eyes.
"I see." The young man coolly regards all of them, shifting his grip on his weapon.
Blake's ears twitch slightly as she heard the rustling of tree branches. Like someone was climbing onto a tree. Her amber pupils dilated when the sound of something was getting loaded. Instinct kicking in, Blake sharply turns to Ruby who was oblivious to the unseen threat. None of her teammates and friends had noticed.
"Is my eye color really that rare?" Ruby innocently asks.
The young man chuckles.
"They're special. Very special." He made a signal with his left hand, signaling the hidden sniper to fire.
"Watch out!"
Blake shoved Ruby to the side as a deafening crack echo through the forest. Acting purely on instinct, Blake activated her semblance, using her shadow clone to push herself out of the incoming bullet. She could see her shadow clone instantly getting vaporized by the speed of which the bullet was traveling through, continuing to fly past them and into the forest.
The bullet made embedded itself deep into a patch of grass which promptly exploded, raining dirt everywhere.
Yang's eyes widen and begin to blaze red. They tried to kill her! These people just tried to kill her little sister! She angrily turned at the assailants and lets out a furious roar, charging towards them with a fearsome expression.
Chaos immediately followed as their assailants let out an enthusiastic battle cry and met Yang and her friends head-on with murderous glee.

"Do what you can to kill her, but don't damage the silver eyes!" Xtravert barks in the party voice channel. "They're worth a lot intact!"
These NPCs who called themselves Huntsmen or Huntresses in training proved to be more of a challenge than they expected.
Despite being low-leveled mobs with hardly pitiful damage outputs, they outnumbered him 5:8 and are outclassed by the NPCs in teamwork and skills. If they weren't so well-coordinated, they would have slaughtered them without a sweat. Damn the game developers who keep designing these kinds of enemies.

A high-pitch whine accompanied the burst of explosive plasma that scatter into the air like a hundred faulty fireworks going all off at once. All with the pull of a trigger.
"What the?!"
There it was again! Someone keeps interfering with his aim!
iCrossedBill was more attentive this time and noticed the distinct black outline around his weapon before his aim gets thrown off. His eyes zip to the red-haired NPC girl, who seemed to froze along with the blond one at the display of the Proto-Powered 8 destructive capabilities.

A giant spherical object was launched at Yang, dual blade saws emitting a sharp whirring sound and nearly shredded the girl were it not for Pyrrha using her semblance to pull her friend back. The whirling death ball scorches through the ground and sharply turns through the trees to make a second run, keeping Yang on her heels.

Ruby and Weiss stand side by side, providing fire support from afar while Jaune fought as their vanguard, barely holding out against the last member of their party, Turtle18.
Jaune is then joined by Ren, who Xtravert had inadvertently blown back to his teammates, and the two pushed back their glaive-wielding opponent. This in turn provided room for Ruby and Weiss to continue their combination attack; a utilization of Weiss's Glyphs to imbued Ruby's bullets with icy properties. Three more shots were fired from Ruby's high-caliber sniper scythe, freezing SmertDirt's legs and hands, giving Nora the time to recover.
She dashes forth and swung her hammer with all her might, striking SmertDirt on his ice-encased chest, launching the player into the forest.

With her opponent thrown out, Nora then turns to assist Jaune and Ren, entering the beat down with her hammer swinging wildly.
A burst of gunfire caught Xtravert's attention, forcing him to turn around. Four bullets whiz towards him, one striking him on his collar bone and the rest bouncing off the shaft of his weapon. He glares at the one named Blake; amplifying his abilities with his skills and slash the air with his weapon.
Skill [Aura Augmentation: Inner Strength (ACTIVE) – Temporarily increase STR and Physical Melee DMG output by 60%] [Level 12]
Skill [Aura Augmentation: Gleaming Conduit (ACTIVE) – Imbues a weapon with volatile spiritual energy and increasing damage. At higher levels, new active skills will be temporarily unlocked for the duration] [Level 4] [Costs 210 Aura]

He could see Blake's amber eyes shrinking as she dodged the attack, using a shadow clone to tank the attack. Razor-sharp wind screech through the air and sliced the clone in two, saving Blake by a hair thread.
Or so she thought.
With a flick of his hand, Xtravert disperse the razor wind into a flurry of tiny, but condensed wind blades, sending them flying all over the air and battlefield, scattering friends and foes alike. Blake desperately maneuvered around the literal bullet hell, using her shadow clones to swing her out of the windstorm. Amid her fast pace aerial dance, she made the wrong move and swung right in front of an incoming wind blade.
Realizing her grievous mistake, she brought her weapon at the last second to block the attack, bursting the condensed wind blade and flinging her over the treetops.

"Blake!" Her friends cried out in alarm.
'Eyes on the prize.' Xtravert quickly formulates a plan to deal with the obstacles that are hindering them from taking the silver eyes with just him and Turtle18. 'All I need is one clean-cut and we're done.'
"Turtle! With me, bro!"
Dead End's residence scalie answered the call, shifting his glaive into its rifle mode, and used the recoil to disengage from the fight while suppressing his opponent's movements. Xtravert joins in on the suppressive fire, emptying his clips and launching several wind blades at the enemy.
Yet despite their efforts, Jaune managed to withstand the entire ordeal, protecting his allies with his shield.

"If we don't completely destroy it." Xtravert grunts in agreement, "But we want the silver eyes first and intact." He twirls his weapon and loosens his muscles. "Charge me."
The reptilian player smirks and puts a hand on Xtravert's shoulder.
