The local bus was then riding over to drop off Angelica and the Eds at their new temporary residence during their visit.
"So, this is farm life, huh?" Eddy asked once they stepped off of the bus.
"Sure looks like it." Double D agreed.
"Sprig should be around here somewhere." Ed said as he took a look around.
"Excuse me, but did y'all say you were looking for Sprig?" A black-haired woman, dressed like a country housewife asked as she came over.
"Uh... Howdy... Yes, ma'am, we did," Angelica replied. "Do you happen to know him?"
"Why, of course, I'm his ma," The woman smiled proudly. "I'm Martha, but you may call me 'Ma Speevak'."
"Nice to meet you, Ma Speevak," said Double D. "Ed decided to invite us to visit Sprig."
"So, you're Ed, that boy from the suburbs, huh?" Ma Speevak asked as she saw her son's pen pal.
"That would be me, ma'am," Ed nodded as he bowed to her before sniffing the air. "Mm... Something smells good."
"Ah, yes. I'm cooking some turkey for dinner," Ma Speevak smiled. "I hope that that's alright."
"It's not these jawbreakers the boys have told me about, but it sounds nice." Angelica replied.
"Sprig is doing his chores down at the farm," Ma Speevak smiled. "Maybe you should go see him and he can help you get settled in. It's really nice to meet y'all."
"Likewise, Ma Speevak." Double D replied as he and the others headed out onto the farm to look around for Sprig.
Ma Speevak smiled warmly as she went back to doing what she was doing.
"Can't be too hard to find the farm, right?" Double D asked the others.
"It smells here." Eddy complained.
"Just think of it like that time we were staying with Rolf," Ed replied. "Before ya drove him crazy."
"...That wasn't my fault." Eddy narrowed his eyes.
Ed and Double D both rolled their eyes a bit as Angelica looked all around.
They soon found the farm and began to look inside as Sprig was hanging around the animals, such as the cows, pigs, and chickens.
"I think we found Sprig," Eddy said before calling out. "YO, SPRIG!"
"Huh?" Sprig blinked before looking over. "Oh... Uh... Hey..." he then looked over at Ed. "Hey, wait. I think I know you."
"Yeah; it's me, Ed!" Ed replied. "You know, your pen pal?"
"Ed!" Sprig smiled.
"Sprig!" Ed smiled back.
The two then shared a friendly guy hug.
"Oh, how very sweet." Angelica smiled.
"Ah... Brought some your friends along?" Sprig asked, seeing the others.
"Yes, I did," Ed nodded. "Double D and Eddy, and this is Angelica, Eddy's girlfriend."
"It's very transcendent to meet you, Spring Speevak." Angelica greeted as she eyed the farm boy sweetly.
"Oh, uh, thanks," Sprig replied. "Good to meet all of ya. Sorry you had to come to a boring rundown farm though..." he then groaned a bit.
"Ah, it's fine," Eddy shrugged. "We needed the break from the suburban life, anyways."
"I'd do anything to get out around here though," Sprig said before shrugging. "Sometimes I think I'm not meant to stay around the farm forever like I think my parents want me to."
"Well, what do you wanna do, Sprig?" Double D asked.
"Well, one thing I wouldn't mind is to do something like this," Sprig said before showing his comic book. "To be a cool superhero like Brock Rocket. He has missions all over the galaxy and gets to have a lot of fun with beating up bad guys, traveling to intergalactic worlds, and of course, no chores like cleaning up after the livestock."
"That sounds pretty awesome." replied Ed, taking a look inside the comic.
"Yeah, it's the coolest," Sprig beamed. "He's an intergalactic hero who fights crime all over The Solar System while keeping a secret identity. Can you imagine doing something like that?"
Double D and Eddy looked at each other before laughing bashfully and nervously.
"I wish my life could be cool like that." Sprig said softly.
"It's no Evil Tim, but it is pretty neat." Ed had to admit.
"SPRIG!" called a high-pitched voice. "TIME FOR SUPPER! MOM MADE TURKEY!"
"And I thought Sarah had a grating voice." Ed complained to himself.
"That voice was like Sarah up to 11." Eddy added.
There was then a bit of a crashing sound which nearly shook the ground around them.
"What was that?" Angelica frowned in concern.
Sprig stood up and narrowed his eyes as he thought he saw something in the sky beside the full moon before a ship emerged from the clouds and soon crashed down across the ground once it landed, shaking the ground a bit more. Flames scorched around before a door opened up and out came a winged alien woman who was running, going through the cornfield as someone chased her and began to shoot lasers at her. Out came bug-like soldiers who hopped out and chased after the alien woman, not looking friendly, even if a little silly-looking.
"Whoa!" exclaimed Ed. "What's with the bugheads chasin' the lady?"
"I don't know, I'm not sure if I wanna find out, but something tells me that we should." Double D advised.
"Should we... Ya know?" Eddy hinted to the others. "'Get Warty'?"
The boys then looked at Angelica.
"I'm not sure if Sprig should witness it, but I think that this poor alien woman, whoever she is, could use your help," Angelica suggested. "As long as Sprig doesn't find out of course. It might be too much for him to handle. Either way, someone's in big trouble and she needs rescuing."
"So I say we stomp some bugs!" Eddy declared before one of the laser blasts hit the grain silo and knocked them off the top.
"WHOA!" Everyone yelped as they were knocked off-course and off-balance before they luckily and carefully landed on the ground so that they wouldn't have a harmful landing and were lucky to be alive in the situation.
"Gosh... What would Brock Rocket do in a situation like this?" Sprig asked himself.
"Be a hero and fight the bugs?" Ed guessed for Sprig's sake.
"What're you? Nuts?!" Sprig replied, still concerned.
"I've been called worse in the cul-de-sac." Ed shrugged in defense.
The alien woman was soon being chased as Sprig thought he now knew what to do.
"Be a hero, fight the bugs... For the record, I just wet myself." Sprig said nervously as he grabbed the pitchfork he found.
"Maybe don't do that!" Eddy added.
"Yeah... Brock Rocket wouldn't do that." Sprig had to admit. He then went up against the side of the barn and braced himself.
The alien woman continued to run for her life as the fleet of bugs continued to chase her.
Angelica soon took the alien woman to hide for her safety while Sprig attacked the robotic bugs with his pitchfork and they suddenly flew in the air and landed in a pile, defeated instantly. "You're safe for now, but we should keep going while they're still down," she then told the alien woman with her. "My warriors and this Spring Speevak boy will help keep you safe."
The alien woman looked at her and they all soon ran away from the bug pile.
"Stupid robot bugs." Eddy scoffed before he kicked the bug pile, unimpressed with them.
The bugbots got to their feet and continued their pursuit of the group.
"Gah! They're coming back!" Eddy warned the others before he went after them with the strange winged alien woman.
The bugbots then had glowing red eyes while chasing down the group and shot their lasers.
Sprig looked at the spewing grain out of the silo before narrowing his eyes. "Okay, guys, I only got one shot at this! Wish me luck!" he then told them as he brought out the pitchfork.
"Sprig! What're you doing?!" Double D asked in concern.
"Just trust me!" Sprig told him before throwing the pitchfork before it soon stuck to the silo, so he ran faster, then hopped up onto the pitchfork.
Angelica took the alien woman to safety while the Eds looked to see what Sprig would do next. Sprig soon grabbed onto the pitchfork and soon swung around the pitchfork and kicked away the bugbots before hopping back down on the ground.
"Man! Farm Boy's got the moves." Eddy remarked.
The bugbot got to its feet and fired off a shot from its laser rifle. Sprig leapt away, and a massive wave of grain spilled out, burying the bugbots underneath.
"All right, Sprig!" The Eds soon cheered, amazed and proud of the farm boy.
"Thanks... Guys..." Sprig panted and stood back up as he was sweating now from the hysteria.
The alien woman soon put her hand on Sprig's shoulder. "Thank you kindly, Earth child," she then spoke. "You and your friends have done wonders for me on your homeworld."
"Well, you're welcome," Ed replied. "Say... Who are you?"
"I am Princess Galaxandra," The alien woman spoke. "And I must know more about my Saviors."
"Ultra cool!" exclaimed Ed.
"Good to meet you, Princess Galaxandra," Angelica said to the winged alien woman. "Believe it or not, I understand the burden and curiousness of being in a strange land away from home due to danger thwarting me everywhere I go."
"Pleased to meet you as well," Princess Galaxandra nodded. "I would also like to pay you back for saving my life."
"Oh, no rewards are necessary." Double D smiled.
"Good deeds are their own reward." Ed added.
"Hey, now, let's see what she has to offer first." Eddy spoke up.
"For your heroism, I would love to give you all free scholarships to The Celestial Academy and begin classes tomorrow." Princess Galaxandra soon bestowed upon them.
"Whoa... Cool!" Ed exclaimed. "We're gonna see a space school!"
Eddy rolled his eyes in response.
"Erm... It seems interesting..." Double D blinked.
"Yes. Be ready to depart in approximately 153.3 Plutonian hours." Princess Galaxandra told them with a nod.
"All right, sounds good," Eddy shrugged. "That gives us plenty of time... Right, Sockhead? I mean, Pluto ain't a planet anymore." he then looked at Double D who was The Smart Guy in their group.
"Well, yes, 153.3 hours is a long time for a day on a planet like Pluto, but for Earth, that would be 24 hours exactly, Eddy." Double D clarified and informed.
"Ohhhh." Eddy nodded.
"Rest up, you have earned it for stopping those meddling bugdroids." Princess Galaxandra told them.
"Oh, no problem," Eddy replied. "Don't mention it, erm... Your Highness."
"Very good," Princess Galaxandra nodded to them. "Have a fun time tomorrow and I hope it's all worth it."
The group smiled, looking hopeful and excited.
"SPRIG! YOUR SUPPER'S GETTING COLD AND YOU WON'T GET DESSERT!" The voice soon came back.
"Well, guys, we better get some supper," Sprig told the Eds and Angelica. "I guess saving an alien princess from bug robots works up an appetite."
"You said it." Eddy nodded as he and the others went back to the house.
And soon, Sprig sat with his pen pal and new friends along with his family to have a turkey dinner, even if it wasn't Thanksgiving yet.
"So son, you were given an offer with your new friends to go to a fancy new school for a while?" Mrs. Speevak asked her son.
"Uh, yeah, that's about right," Sprig nodded. "Sorry it's short notice, but it's hard to pass up on a good offer like that, huh?"
"I agree, son," Mr. Speevak agreed. "Just make sure y'all stick together... Fancy schools can be pretty big and overwhelmin' on new people... Makes city folks skittish and soft-handed."
"I hear you loud and clear, sir." nodded Double D.
"So... Sprig is gonna move out?" A cutesy young girl with blonde hair spoke up cutely and innocently. "Can I have his room while he's gone?"
The Eds rolled their eyes as this girl reminded them very much of Sarah if she tasted like a sugar bowl-infested case of diabetes.
"No, Sprout, you can't take Sprig's room, he won't be gone long." Mrs. Speevak cooed and patted her daughter on the head.
"Hmph... We'll see about that..." Sprout pouted and crossed her arms before looking at the Eds and grinned angelically and batted her eyelashes. "Hiiii~"
The Eds each gave each other a knowing look, and then turned back towards Sprout.
"You're all cute and handsome~" Sprout grinned. "Who wants to be The Fairy Prince to my Fairy Princess?"
"Aww... You're so cute," Angelica smiled at the young blonde girl. "You remind me of myself when I was a little girl."
"You have excellent taste." Sprout smiled back innocently.
"Excuse me while I find a container for my sanity." Eddy muttered sardonically.
"At least it's not as bad as Sarah and her infatuation with Double D..." Ed muttered.
The three Eds then shuddered in disgust about Sarah's unhealthy crush on Double D, though it probably wasn't as bad as when Marie Kanker was in love with him, though Marie proved to be a lot better than her sisters Lee and May, especially since she started going out with a good friend, Ambrose Spellman.
The turkey dinner was eaten with much gusto and everyone enjoyed it as Sprout just looked lovingly at the three Ed boys, much to their discomfort.
"So, I gotta leave tomorrow with my new friends," Sprig told his new parents about The Celestial Academy. "I need to pack plenty of stuff and I'm sorry I won't be able to help out on the farm. You guys understand, right?"
"Why, sure, Sprig," Mrs. Speevak smiled softly. "We just want you to be safe and have fun."
"Thanks, Ma," Sprig replied. "I'll get packing once I head to my room."
"We'll get settled for the night too, ma'am." Angelica added.
"Good," Mrs. Speevak smiled fondly. "Be sure to pack plenty of clean underwear."
"Yes, Mom." Sprig said bashfully.
"My mom says the same thing no matter where I'm going." Ed whispered to Sprig in understanding.
"Guess it's universal." Eddy shrugged as they went upstairs to get themselves settled.
Mr. and Mrs. Spreevak then went to wash the dishes.
"Ma and Pa say you can stay with Sprig in his room," Sprout firmly pouted to her brother's guests. "His bigger and better room... I wouldn't mind takin' it for myself~"
Ed rolled his eyes a bit as he remembered one time that Sarah and Jimmy tried to take his room despite being in the basement while Sarah got to have a room upstairs to herself.
"And maybe you can stay with me in my room for the night~" Sprout then beamed hopefully at Angelica.
"Well, I suppose I could," Angelica replied. "It might be nice."
"Yaaay!" Sprout beamed and hugged Angelica suddenly. "You can be like the big sister I always wanted instead of dumb old Sprig!"
"I'm sitting right here, Sprout." Sprig deadpanned.
"Whatever~" Sprout grinned darkly at him.
Sprig groaned and rolled his eyes a bit.
"Don't worry, Sprig. We got your back." Ed said to Sprig.
"Thanks, Ed," Sprig nodded. "Good to have some back-up, but at least I won't be with Sprout for much longer."
"And I definitely won't be with Sarah." Ed then smirked.
The other Eds agreed on that.
Eventually, after dinner was finished, the group helped to clean up before they would see their sleeping arrangements. Sprig soon came over to his bedroom door and opened it up. Ed, Double D, and Eddy soon followed him inside afterward to explore the room. It was a very simple room, but there was a simple bed by a window with a barely touched stack of textbooks and a messy collection of comic books from stories such as Brock Rocket, Danny Phantom, and even something about "Attack from The Planet Yugopotamia". There also appeared to be a bunk bed in the corner for three that was conveniently there.
"Well, this is my room," Sprig told them. "I, uh... I cleaned it as best as I could before you guys came over." he then said, though that seemed to be a lie.
"Still, looks pretty nice at least." Eddy commented.
"It's a bit homey, but the conditions are still rather pleasant." Double D added.
"Nice bunk bed," Ed said. "Looks like it was made just for us."
"Pa heavily insisted on it," Sprig nodded. "He just loves keeping busy with his hands."
"Convenient... But cool." Eddy shrugged as he scampered up to the top bunk.
"You get the top bunk?" Ed asked Eddy.
"Why not? I'm the leader." Eddy smirked.
"Since when?" Ed smirked back.
"Since the beginning of time, Lumpy," Eddy chuckled as he got settled. "Besides, I'm the real brains of this outfit."
"Sure, if you say so..." Ed rolled his eyes as he sat down on the bottom bunk. "At least the bed's pretty cozy for the most part."
"I hope so," Sprig nodded. "You don't have to get used to it for too long 'cuz we got something new coming up tomorrow and I just hope that's at least a better experience than my old school."
The Eds nodded as they got comfortable.
"I just hope you guys have a good night," Sprig smiled. "I wonder what it's gonna be like at this new school?"
"Maybe like Galaxy High School from what I've heard about," Eddy shrugged. "I just know that some guys better keep away from my Princess Angelica."
"...Princess Angelica?" Sprig asked.
"Long story." Eddy quickly covered up.
"His special girl," explained Double D. "Princess is just like his nickname for her!"
"Right..." Sprig said then. "I knew that."
Eddy rolled his eyes a bit.
"I'll be right back, guys," Sprig said as he walked out of his room. "Nature calls. Make yourselves at home."
"Thanks, Sprig." The Eds replied as they were soon left alone in the room to get settled in for the night.
"Eddy, why didn't you tell Sprig about Princess Angelica?" Ed asked. "I mean, we faced those bugdroids for Princess Galaxandra with him, couldn't we trust him with BattleToads knowledge?"
"That's just the thing, Ed," Eddy shrugged. "I don't know right now. It might be risky."
"For once, Eddy's made sense and a good point." Double D agreed.
Ed yawned. "Welp... I dunno about you, but I'm gonna nod off." he replied.
"You do that," Eddy nodded before smirking. "Sweet dreams of Udrogoth tonight, buddy."
"Very funny," Ed rolled his eyes before smirking back. "Sweet dreams of Princess Angelica tonight."
"You two..." Double D shook his head a little.
"Enjoy dreaming about Kimiko~!" Ed and Eddy smirked as they dozed off.
Double D grumbled before he soon went to bed after Ed and Eddy. Sprig came inside before smiling at his new friends before he went to join them to bed.
