The Scientist of the Owl House

Arc 1: Chapter 2: The Boiling Isles

Harry was still in shock seeing that completely different world from anything he had seen before. He was sure he had seen a griffin flying, a bunch of man trying to capture another mystical creature, and a bird with the face of a humanoid creature.

"Okay, what to do now? What to do now?" asked the indigo rebel, walking in circles, trying to think about something.

"Well, that explosion must have left the portal with some damages, so they probably won't be able of doing anything for a long time. But they I still need a place to hide for them, in case things get complicated" said Harry, finally thinking about something.

At that moment, he noticed something trying to bite his arm, failing to do so thanks to his metal technological armor.

"What?" asked the indigo rebel, seeing the creature. It was a pink fairy, with very sharp teeth.

"Time for dinner" said the fairy, creepily, while she continued to bite the boy. He quickly activated his armor and threw an electric attack at the pixie.

"Okay, I need a place, and I need one fast. These creatures sure seem to enjoy some human meat," said the indigo rebel. He quickly found a place between two trees. It was not perfect, but, at least, it was hidden.

He grabbed the portable lab and put it on the ground. As soon as he did it, he pressed a button, and it became a place that was big enough to sleep.

When he entered it, he saw things that reminded him of the life he used to have in the lab. A life that he wanted to forget. Mainly because there was an identical desk to the one that was at his cell.

But that was only temporary… probably temporary. He laid down on the ground and tried to fall asleep. Still, he felt a little bit worried about what could happen on his life.

"Okay, Harry. Time to relax. You have got a lot of things to do in the morning" said the indigo rebel.

"It might not be perfect, but it's the only think you have" he said, talking to himself. He closed his eyes and quickly fell asleep. That night had been really tiring, and tomorrow would be even more.

Harry woke up to the sound of banging on the walls of the portable lab. They were intense, impatient and worrying.

The indigo rebel quickly got up and went outside, trying to find out what was happening. When he left the portable lab, he saw two strong man that were punching the walls of the lab.

"Wait! Wait! Please, stop!" said Harry, trying to stop the two from destroying the only thing that was keeping him alive on the Boiling Isles.

"Are you the owner of this building?" asked one of the men.

"Well, technically, yes" said the indigo rebel, not telling the entire truth.

"It can't be here. The architecture doesn't fit with what Emperor Belos allows" said the other man.

'Emperor Belos? Who are they taking about?' Harry thought, trying to understand what they were talking about. However, he knew that it wasn't the right time to ask about it.

"Okay, then. I am going to go somewhere else" the indigo rebel said, pressing a button to change the lab to it's small form. But, he was stopped by one of the man.

"I don't think you understand it. This building doesn't fit the entire Boiling Isles style. It can't be placed anywhere" said one of the man.

"Well, I can sleep in the ground then, I guess…" said Harry, starting to worry a little about how he was going to handle this entire situation. One of the Conformatorium men sighed.

"You still didn't get it. YOU don't fit the Boiling Isles style" said one of the man handcuffing the indigo rebel.

"Wait, you guys are arresting me?!" asked the indigo rebel, not understanding while being so drastic.

"We are going to lock you at the Conformatorium. A place where people like you stay so that our society don't get plagued by weirdos like you" said the other man.

"But why? I didn't mean to do anything wrong!" said Harry, believing that the two men weren't being fair with him. Once more, he heard a sigh.

"Welcome to the Boiling Isles, kid. If you don't fit the standards, you need to stay locked away from the rest of the world" said one of the man, throwing the boy at the back of their vehicle.

Yeah, that day would not be easy for the indigo rebel, but he couldn't even imagine half of the things that would still happen.

Meanwhile, on a place not that far away from the scene that just happened, there was a place named the Owl House. There, the most powerful witch of the Boiling Isles, Eda Clawthrone, the Owl Lady, hid herself from the rest of the world.

As her roommate, she had a small demon, who said to be the kind of all of them, but, deep down, was a harmless child. They both had been living there for a long time.

Recently, though, a human girl ended up arriving at the Boiling Isles. She was now living with them, on a path of learning how to be a witch. However, she was having some… problems with it.

"Eda! Wake up!" said Luz, trying to wake her teacher, who was laying on the sofa, almost sleeping.

"Believe me when I say, when she drinks so much apple blood, like she did yesterday, she spends the entire day on this state," said King.

"But she promised to teach me a new spell," said the human girl.

"Don't worry about it. And look on the bright side, this means that we can do all that Eda doesn't want us to do" said the small demon, with a mischievous smile, slowly walking away from the couch.

However, the Owl Lady noticed it and, with her head still on the couch's cushions, made a magic circle to bring her roommate back to her side.

"I might be tired, but I am not crazy" said Eda, with a completely exhausted voice.

"Come on, Eda. You promised me" said Luz, still trying to wake her up.

Eda sat down on the couch and started to search in her hair for something.

Luz was intrigued about what was going to be, thinking that it would be something related to her magical studies. In the end, it was a list.

"If you want to do something useful, buy these items and bring them to me" said the Owl Lady, handing her the list.

"Huh?" said the human girl, feeling slightly confused.

"They are for a potion that usually make me feel a little bit better. Now, if you don't mind, the mama here needs to take a nap" said Eda, going back to laying her face in the couch.

"Okay, then. I will come back soon. Be careful, you all" said Luz, happy to help her teacher. At that moment, hooty opened the door.

"Goodbye, Luz. Pay a lot of attention at your surroundings. Oh, and could you please buy me a…" said the door creature, being ignored by the human girl.

At the same time, Harry was trapped on the back of the vehicle, trying to take a look at the Boiling Isles, but he could see barely anything at his position.

"Okay, these men are sending you to a place you have no idea of where it is, or how it works, or if they might kill you. You need to think about a way of running away" said the indigo rebel, to himself. As soon as he did, he looked at his hand.

"First, these handcuffs," said Harry. "They are made of metal, which means that the right amount of heat is going to help me out" the indigo rebel said, pressing a button of his armor.

He started to feel the heat, sweating a little. Luckily for him, though, the armor was only getting heated on the outside, so, he wouldn't be burned.

After a few seconds, the handcuffs became loose enough for him to free himself.

"Now, I don't have those to worry about these, but I still need to think about a way of running away," said the indigo rebel.

This step would be slightly more complicated. He couldn't simply destroy de doors of the vehicle, and jump of it, since he had basically no idea of what was outside.

Besides, depending on the place he landed, the two men could quickly bring him back to the vehicle, and make his escape even harder.

He decided it was best to try to hear what the duo was talking about on the front seat, hoping to hear something that could help him.

"It seems we are approaching Hexside. That school sure is something, right?" asked one of the men.

"It sure is a mess! Those hallways are so confusing, an entire child could disappear and never return!" said the other man.

That was the opportunity that Harry was waiting for. A place that he could finally outwit those two men and find anywhere far away from these Belos's rules.

The Indigo Rebel got in front of the door, activated his laser, and cut the back doors of the vehicle in two, and jumped off that place, and ran into the direction of the school.

"The prisoner escaped!" said one of the two men, seeing what happened.

"After him!" said the other, leaving the vehicle. Harry, seeing that he needed to be fast, pressed a button on his armor, and activated a fast mode so that they couldn't reach him, however, there was a small problem with this function…

"THIS BOOTS ARE OUT OF CONTROL!" screamed the indigo rebel, not being able of handling the incredible speed that this mode had.

He continued to run until he ended up bursting through the school's front door.

That school sure had some differences compared to a usual human school. The lockers seem different, the uniforms seemed pretty unique, and some students didn't look that much like humans.

But, when you are running away from people that want to lock you on a place that you know absolutely nothing about, you have no time to notice what is happening on your surroundings.

"There he is!" said one of the Conformatorium men, trying to reach the fugitive, making Harry try to run even faster.

In front of the indigo rebel, on that same hallway, a girl with green hair was talking to other girls, with her back turned to the direction the whole scene was happening. At her side, there was a purple slime monster.

"And that is how I create my perfect abominations," said the green haired girl.

"Amity, don't you think you are being overzealous?" said one of the girls, on a completely uninterested tone.

"Or maybe, you just have to learn to be jealous, Boscha" said Amity, reprimanding the other girl. In that precise moment, Harry ended up bursting running the abomination, making the girls creation explode, and getting him entirely full of purple abomination slime.

"Sorry!" the indigo rebel said, feeling bad about what happened to the girls creation. Amity sighed.

"I have no idea about who that kid is, but I don't like them" said the green haired girl, being angry about what happened to her abomination.

Even after this, the Conformatorium men still were after him, so he still couldn't stop to run.

Also on that hallway, the principal of the school was going to leave his office, so that he could take a look at how his school was.

"This day on Hexside has been so calm, until now. Maybe, I will finally be able of enjoying been a principal, without having to handle any kind of weird problem" said the principal, opening his door to leave to another inspection.

However, as soon as he did, he ended up witnessing, the scene of Harry covered in abomination slime running right in front of him, and soon after, seeing the two Conformatorium men running after him.

"Sigh… I would like to say this is the weirdest thing to ever happen in this school, however, that would be a lie" said the principal, being disappointed that, once more, he wouldn't have a calm day.

The indigo rebel continued his escape, changing direction to another school hallway, leaving more students confused, mainly a small boy and a girl with glasses, who couldn't even imagine why that abomination boy was running from two Conformatorium men.

"Do you think this has anything to do with Luz?" asked the girl with glasses, thinking about her human friend.

"Honestly, it would be weirder if it didn't" said the small boy, knowing how their friend used to create some weird situations.

After more and more running, and a lot of tactics to try to run away from the two men, they were still after the indigo rebel.

Harry had run so much that he ended up arriving at another exit of the school. It was a little bit smaller than the last one. The indigo rebel wanted to keep running on the school, but he couldn't change directions anymore, thanks to the speed, so, he ended up leaving it.

"The situation right now couldn't get worst" said Harry, noticing that he was without any kind of options, he had lost the control of his boots, couldn't change directions, and the two men were approaching him.

But he ended up miscalculating, since, every time you say that things can't get worse… they get… and a lot.

As he continued to run, he ended up seeing that right in front of him, there was a cliff that would lead him to his doom.

"I need to turn these boots off" the indigo rebel said, trying to reach a button on his boots. While he was trying to do it, the cliff was getting closer and closer. It was only a matter of time until he died.

He was trying, really trying, but on his current position it was not easy. The fact that the two men were shouting right behind him, making him even more nervous. Finally, after so much time, Harry turned his armor off… but it was too late, and he ended up falling off the cliff.

The two men, after a lot of running, finally arrived at the place the indigo rebel fell.

"Yeah, that kid is dead, no way of him surviving it" said one of the men. The other one nodded, and both left the place.

That was the end of Harry's life. There was no way that he could have survived such a big fall…

...

...

...

...

...

However, what they didn't know was that the indigo rebel was able of, on the last second, holding on some rocks.

"Now, I just need to find a way of getting out of it… somehow" said the indigo rebel, having basically no idea of how to do it.

Meanwhile, Luz was on her quest to find the ingredients for the waking up potion. She had arrived at a tent, where the salesman had received the list.

"Well, most of the ingredients are here, young girl. But this last one, is out of stock" said the salesman, handing the young girl the ingredients she asked for.

"Wait, so you don't have griffon fur?" asked the human girl.

"Exactly, and it's going to be out of this fur for a long time. The laws related to griffon fur has been going though some changes, and, I probably won't have it until it's all solved," said the salesman. Without any other options, Luz accepted the situation, and left the place.

As she was walking through the forest that was in the path for the Owl House, she was trying to find a solution to solve the lack of griffon's fur.

"Come on, there must be a place I can find this fur" the human girl said to herself, still thinking.

While she walked through the forest, she heard a noise. Intrigued by what she heard, she ended up following the noise. While walking through some trees, she saw a creature sleeping on the ground. It was a griffon.

"It seems that the universe is on my side" said Luz, with a small smirk.

She started to tiptoe on the direction of the creature, aiming to their fur, being as careful as possible to not wake them up.

"It's just a little bit of fur… they will probably not even notice" said the human girl, bringing her hands closer to the fur, so that she could grab some fur.

"And done! Now, I just need to slowly walk away and…" said Luz, interrupting herself when she noticed she had steeped on a stick, which made a noise.

The griffon, who, just seconds ago, was sleeping, suddenly woke up. Yep, the human girl sure was in massive trouble.

"Hey, there, beautiful griffon" said the human girl, with a nervous laughter. The creature roared and grabbed her.

"Oh, come one, why does it always have to be like this!" she screamed, as the creature took flight.

Meanwhile, Harry had a hard time to climb those rocks, but, when you are used to the Green Light training, it was not the worst thing that you would have to go through.

"Okay, those two probably think I am dead. I won't have to worry about them for a while. Now, back to my mission!" said the indigo rebel.

"Help!" a voice screamed. Harry was taken aback by what he heard.

"What has just happened?" the indigo rebel asked. He started to look around for where that sound could come from. He came across the sight of an enormous flying creature that was holding a girl.

"Help! I can't do anything against this griffon!" said the girl, calling Harry's attention.

It didn't even take a second, the indigo rebel was already preparing his armor for a powerful jump.

"So, here we go!" said Harry, jumping on a velocity way bigger than any human would ever be able of doing it.

He ended up landing right on the creature's back. He started to search for the girl that he heard screaming.

"Hey, is everything okay here?" the indigo rebel asked, as he found the girl on the creature's claw. As soon as she heard his voice, she turned her head to see him.

When they saw each other's heads, they ended up noticing something. Both shared a trait that none expected to see another living being have on the Boiling Isles.

"You are a human too?!" the two teens asked, at the sight of them both having round ears, instead of the usual pointy ones that the witches had.

"Okay, I know that you know basically nothing about me, and probably have no idea of the kind of person I am, but, believe me when I say, this is the only chance we both have of surviving, so, please, trust me" Harry said, offering his hand.

Even though, as he said, she didn't know anything about him, Luz had no other choices to do in that moment, so she accepted the offer, and grabbed his hand.

The indigo rebel, then, seeing that she trusted in him, activated the electric option of his armor, and gave the animal a slight shock. Just enough for the two of them to break free.

The two of them ended up being released by the animal, and started to fall.

"Now, what?!" the human girl asked, while holding the boy's hand, while waiting for the boy to continue his plan.

"Hold on tight and wait a little bit" said the indigo rebel, pressing a button on his boots repeatedly. The human girl started to get worried, since the ground was getting closer and closer.

"Just a little bit more and…" he said, finally noticing that it was going to work. Finally, his boots activated. This time, they were unleashing a blue energy, which made them be able of floating.

To make sure that the human girl didn't get hurt, he dragged her closer, basically hugging her.

After some seconds, the two finally landed safely on the ground. The two stopped hugging and sighed of relief.

"Thanks, I almost become griffon's dinner" said the girl.

"No problem. We humans have to stick together, right?" the indigo rebel said.

"I am Luz Noceda, the witches apprentice. Nice to meet you" said Luz, presenting herself.

"Well, I am Harry… Indigo, prodigy scientist" said Harry, doing the same thing. Both shook their hands.

"A scientist? Wow, that's so cool! That explains all this fancy technology you got there" said the human girl, fascinated by the boy.

"So, how did you end up here on the Boiling Isles?" asked Luz, not imagining how he could have arrived there without using Eda's portal.

"Well… it was… the result of an experiment. I ended up going through a technological portal, and now I am here. And you, how did you ended up here?" the indigo rebel asked.

"Well, I ended up going through a magic door, and now, I am learning how to do magic, living with a powerful witch and a feracious demon at the Owl House. And you, why are you here?" the human girl asked.

"I am here to… study magic. I am trying to find a scientific explanation for magic" Harry said, making up another lie.

"That's so cool! And where are you living? Did you also find a cool adoptive family?! Do you also have an old and powerful mentor to help you?!" Luz asked, really curious and interested about the life that the boy was having on the Boiling Isles.

"Well, actually, I was trying to find a place to stay, but those Conformatorium guys almost arrested me. I am not sure where I can stay, to be honest…" the indigo rebel said, still not having a solution.

The human girl, however, had an idea about a way to solve Harry's problems.

"Why don't you move to the Owl House with me then. We have a really powerful security system. This way, those Conformatorium men won't be able of going after you. And we might be able of helping each other on our quests!" Luz said, being excited of having a human roommate.

"Are you sure?" Harry asked.

"Yeah. As you said, we humans have to stick together" the human girl said.

The indigo rebel, without any better alternative to what he could do, decided to accept the girl's offering.

"Okay, then. But will they accept me living with them?" Harry asked.

"Don't worry. I have already thought about that part" said Luz, with a smirk on her face.

Back on the Owl House, Eda was still on the sofa, even though, a little bit less sleepy. King was right on her side.

"Guys, I am back with the ingredients!" said the human girl, bursting through the door, being accompanied by the indigo rebel.

"Finally," Eda said, sitting on the coach, and grabbing the ingredients.

"Now, just need to make that potion" said the Owl Lady, stopping at the sight of Harry.

"Luz, why is there a boy in the living room?" asked Eda.

"Oh, Eda, King, I present you guys to a new human on the Boiling Isles. Harry Indigo! He needs a place to stay, so, I thought he could live here" answered Luz.

"Well, can he do anything to help us sell those human things?" asked the Owl Lady.

"If he can? Harry, show her that electric thing your armor can do" the human girl said.

The indigo rebel quickly activated his armor's electric function, which made it produce electricity. Eda got interested by it.

"Well, I guess he can stay then. Now, if you two don't mind, I seriously need to make that potion" the Owl Lady said.

"Hey, you! Listen here, human!" said King, dragging Harry's attention.

"Now that you live on the Owl House, you are going to obey to me, the King of Demons, if you don't to face my wrath!" said the small creature.

"Is that the ferocious demon you told me about?" the indigo rebel asked, whispering to Luz.

"Yeah, he believes he is scary and powerful, but he is just an adorable, cute baby" said the human girl, picking him up.

"He is just an adorable little guy" said Luz, petting King.

"Well, if you don't mind, I am going to put my portable lab outside" said Harry, leaving the Owl House.

"It seems we have a new resident at the Owl House, welcome to the family" said Hooty.

"Thanks, Hooty" said the indigo rebel, being polite with the house demon, instead of treating him coldly like the other three residents.

As soon as he left the house, he put the portable on a place close enough to the Owl House and pressed a button, turning the object back to it's real form.

"This place might be a lot different than the expected, but, at least, now, I have found a place to sleep" Harry said, feeling relief to finally be safe.

The Boiling Isles is nothing like Earth, and there is a large possibility that you might die if you are not careful enough. But, at least, he had another human that lived close to him. Maybe, this time at the Boiling Isles won't be that bad.

Meanwhile, back on Earth, the Green Light Scientists were still frustrated about the events involving the portal.

"That boy is going to pay for what he did!" said Cyan.

"Don't worry, Cyan. The Portal has been partially fixed," said Fern.

"Still, it doesn't have it's full power. We will only be able of sending one or two projects at a time. Three at best" said Cyan.

"We will just have to put our plan in action slightly slower than we planned," said Fern.

"And what about the boy. He needs to pay for what he did!" said Cyan, still mad with the indigo rebel.

"Don't worry, my dear Cyan. He is going to pay for it… soon" said Fern, looking at a genetic modified hyena they had as an experiment.

Yes, the Green Light Lab was not going to give up on their plans, or on their vengeance against the indigo rebel.

Author's Note: And that was the chapter. I know that the way Luz and Harry met was a little bit too cliché, but I had no better ideas.

On the next few chapters, we will have: Harry telling Luz the truth; a brief return to Earth; Harry meeting Willow and Gus; Amity being a jerk to Harry; people from Harry's past appearing.

As always, review, favorite the story, follow it, and share it with your friends. Also, follow me on tumbrl theowlcientist. There is a lot of interesting things there.
