My Pov

I opened my eyes and found myself in my room. Wait... how'd I get here? And when did I fall asleep? That's when I remembered-

"Marty!" I flung the covers off me and hurried to the elevator only to be stopped by Numbuh 1.

"If you're worried about your brother Numbuh 7, don't be. He slept over last night, because he wanted to be here when you woke up." he said.

"When did I fall asleep?" I asked.

"Well, according to your brother, you usually fall asleep after crying a lot." Numbuh 1 said. I thought back and remembered that I do in fact do that. "He's downstairs." Numbuh 1 moved out of the way. I went into the elevator and went down into Numbuh 1's house. I went downstairs and started looking for Marty. I went into the living room and saw him asleep on the couch. I gently shook him and he snapped up.

"Melody!" Marty cried. I grabbed his hand and he looked at me.

"I'm right here Marty. I'm right here." I said. He took a deep breath before pulling me into his lap and into a tight hug. He stopped shaking after a while.

"How?" Marty asked. I pulled back and looked at him.

"How what?" I asked.

"How are you still eight? The same age you were when you ran away?" Marty asked.

"It's complicated and... wait, ran away?" I said, in confusion.

"Yeah. I remember seeing you and David with your friends during recess and then the next thing I knew... you were all missing." Marty said. David? Friends?

"I'm not the only one missing?" I asked. Marty pulled out a folded piece of paper of his pants pocket and handed it to me. I took it and unfolded it. It was a missing notice from eight years ago. On it was a group picture of me and five other kids. Three boys and two other girls.

MISSING

Bruce Irwin, 9

David DeWitt Jr., 10

Ashley Lawrence, 9

Leonard "Lenny" Forbes, 10

Constance "Connie" Herrera, 9

Melody DeWitt, 8

Were last seen at recess. Were reported missing the next day when neither of them were found to be at the other's home.

I felt my chest tighten, my heart quickened and my throat dried. My hands started trembling, causing the paper to slip from my hand.

"Mellie?" Marty asked, gripping my shoulders. Tears flooded down my face as my shaking started to get worse. It was all coming back to be now. All the haze and fuzziness faded away as the memory played in my mind like a movie.

My team and I were on a mission to infiltrate Father's mansion and steal the blueprints for his latest plan. We had been trusted with this task because, as Sector Z of the Kids Next Door, we are the best there is.

"Everyone quiet! This is possibly the most dangerous mission we've ever been on." Numbuh 0.1 warned.

"Yeah, no kidding." Numbuh 0.3 said.

"So, what's the plan?" Numbuh 0.2 asked.

"Father's building a machine called 'the Delightfulization Chamber'. From what we've learned , the machine will turn kids into prissy, obedient, adult-loving zombies!"

"We can't let that happen!" Numbuh 0.4 exclaimed.

"And we won't." Numbuh 0.1 assured. We all nodded in agreement. "Alright. Numbuh 0.5, do your thing." She took out a case that was actually a computer scanner. She did a quick scan of the mansion to find an access point.

"Well?" Numbuh 0.1 asked.

"There's a blind spot on the roof. We can go in through the chimney." Numbuh 0.5 answered, closing the case.

"Okay. It's now or never, Sector Z." Numbuh 0.1 said. We quickly and quietly made our way onto the property before we each shot our G.R.A.P.P.L.U.H(Grabs Readily Available Pipes Pulling Leaders Upward Hastily) toward the roof and pulled ourselves up. We went in through the chimney. As soon as we were in, we spilt up. "Everyone stay on the look out and whoever finds the blueprints first, radio the others." We all nodded and went off. Before I did, both Numbuh 0.1 and 0.2 stopped. "Be careful Numbuh 0.6."

"Be care in here Mel. This isn't going to be easy like all our other missions." Numbuh 0.2 said.

"I'll be fine. I've been part of this sector for three years. You've all trained me for this." I assured. They both smiled at me before heading off in separate directions. I looked toward the direction I chose to go. "You all have trained me for this." I quickly and quietly made my way through the mansion trying to find those stupid blueprints. "Where could he be hiding them?" That's when I heard yells and protests. I realized who the sounds were coming from. "Guys!" I quickly turned and ran in the direction of the yells. That's when I saw two men dragging my team down to the basement. I quickly ran behind them and found myself in room. That's when I saw it; the Delightfulization Chamber.

"So there's six of you." a voice said. I turned and saw him. The very man every child feared; Father. I jumped back.

"Where's my team?! Where's my brother?!" I demanded. He then started to laugh at me. He then pointed toward the Delightfulization Chamber. I followed the direction of his hand. My heart dropped as I saw my team was in that thing. That's when I heard a humming sound and saw he had turned it on! "NO!" I ran to open the door only to be hit with a fireball. I flew and rammed against the machine. That when when the humming noise got louder. I looked and saw sparks starting to fly from the chamber. The screams of my team intensified.

"No! It's blown a fuse! It's going to explode!" Father exclaimed. I gripped onto the lever of the door and turned to turn it, but it was stuck.

"Mellie, run away!" David cried.

"But-" I started, but was cut off by Ashley.

"You need to go." she said. Lenny chimed in.

"You have to tell the KND what happened." he said.

"You have to keep going for us." Constance added.

"You'll be the last of Sector Z. It's up to you now." Bruce said.

"Okay. I promise." That's when a blinding last cloaked the machine.

"TELL THE KIDS NEXT DOOR WE'LL MISS THEM!" my team cried before the machine exploded, throwing me back into a wall. I blacked out just as a huge shadow emerged from the wreckage of the chamber.

I gasped as the memory ended. I saw that Marty had wrapped me in a tight hug.

"Mellie, what happened?" Marty asked. I hiccupped as I tried to calm down. I managed to calm down and said:

"I remember. I know where the others are."
