Angel: We still haven't gotten a date for the Rise of the TMNT movie! Not even a real trailer yet or character designs, but we have a date for the Loud House and they're releasing the Green Lantern Ryan Reynolds movie soon on Netflix for…reasons *blank look* Nice to see where priorities lie.
Yeah, if that movie doesn't come out soon, I'm going to have to write it next year because I won't have time to do it in the fall because of school, so thanks for that Nickelodeon. You officially made Treasure Planet the last movie I could do for this year. Hope it was worth the wait…
12 years later...
A 15-year-old Arianna looked down at the ground, her eyes sad as the thunder struck over her head. She held a flower in her hand. She had grown her hair out so that it fell down to her hips, tied in a low ponytail with the end in a slight curl. Her bangs rested over her cheeks as she was wearing a black dress. A tear rolled down her cheek as she bent down, placing down the flower.
Oliver Elliot Johnson, age 59
Beloved father and friend
She placed a hand on the tombstone in front of her, squeezing her eyes shut as she let herself cry. Her father had passed away after their home was raided by pirates a few days prior, leaving her orphaned. When the raid occurred, she thankfully managed to get away, but he sacrificed himself to make sure she got out alive. The pirates who raided them demanded money while they threatened to kill her. At the risk of his own life, he tricked them by giving them fake coins and in turn, they murdered him. Arianna had managed to escape while he was distracting them with the fake money, therefore, she did not see him being killed.
But she did find his body when she came back home. Along with finding her house having been exploded.
The horror she experienced could never be matched...
She looked at her watch and stood up, holding her bags. Sarah had heard the news and immediately insisted that Arianna come to stay with her and Jim. She was hesitant, but she had nowhere else to go, and she did remember that she was very close with them...or at least, used to be. The deal was that Arianna would work for Sarah in her Inn, and in turn, she would be rewarded with a home, food, and other necessities.
The two families were still friends, but they had fell largely out of touch with each other over time. Arianna had gotten caught up with her schooling and her dream, while her father continued working, but he did manage to find more time to spend with his daughter until his death...she didn't even know if the two would remember her since it had been years since they had interacted.
She snapped out of it and reluctantly left the tombstone, a depressed look over her face...
Sarah opened the door and gasped upon seeing the girl. "Arianna...you've grown so much!" She engulfed the girl into a hug, frowning sadly. "I am so sorry to hear about your father...he was such a good man."
"He was..." Arianna agreed with her sadly. Sarah gently ushered her inside.
"I'll let you rest and then you can help me out at noon today. I've left your work uniform on the bed. You can reconnect with Jim later on today. I'm sure he'll be glad to see you."
"Thank you, Mrs. Hawkins," The girl smiled weakly at her, but the woman scoffed at her, waving it off.
"Oh! None of that. We've known each other too long for you to be calling me Mrs. Hawkins."
Arianna chuckled at her. "Okay then...Sarah."
The woman smiled and hugged her again. "Rest up now. You'll need it for your first day of work!"
She nodded and let go, taking her things upstairs. As she did, Sarah sighed at her retreating.
"The poor girl..." She frowned to herself. Arianna was an orphan now, and she would have to face some things herself that her parents wouldn't be there for...
Jim was grinning so widely that his teeth was showing. He was riding his solar surfer, his wind and clothes blowing hard. He gripped the sail tightly to straighten it. He rode off of a cliff, taking off into the air. He looked back with a smirk before he pressed his foot, soaring faster upwards. He let himself fall backwards as he started doing tricks, spinning around rapidly. He was heading towards the ground, but when he reached it, his mast opened up again, and he was flying the board inches off the ground.
"Yaaaa-hoo!" He screamed at the top of his lungs, his voice echoing throughout the cannon. Up ahead, he noticed a yellow sign, which he ran over. He straightened himself as an alarm blared, skidding along a surface as he hollered. "Whoo!" He soared away and saw a moving wheel, which had compartments opening and closing multiple times. He smirked and headed straight for it. He moved his foot as his mast fell.
"Come on!"
He zipped right through one with ease. "Whoo! Ha!" He gripped onto his mast when it appeared again. "WHOO-HOO!" He screamed at the top of his lungs, flying back towards the sky.
A siren blared behind him and he glanced over his shoulder. He winced as he recognized them well. He rolled his eyes to himself.
"Oh, great..." He groaned at this.
Meanwhile, at the Benbow Inn, Sarah and Arianna were hard at work. The girl was tasked with washing the dishes and simply serving food. Sarah would also introduce her to some of the customers so that they would be accustomed to her presence. So far, she seemed to be doing fine...for the most part.
The girl looked down at the dishes she was currently washing. She was wearing a white bandana tied over her hair, a blue dress with long sleeves, and a white apron over her waist. She also had black flats on, with her hair tied in a low bun. The dish was clean, but...she saw her father's reflection in it, making her place the dish back into the sink so she could scrub it gently. Her father worked very hard to try and give the girl her dream—to have her own ship so she could travel the world and make her own adventures along with them. But she'd never have it realized because the pirates took all of their savings...and he was so close to buying the ship...
Thunder struck and she glanced towards the window, sighing. "Keep hoping, Ari. It might happen someday," She whispered to herself as she continued washing. She'd just work hard so that she can earn enough money to buy that ship. Not just for herself, but for her father...
Sarah stirred a pot. "Mrs. Hawkins!" A woman called out.
She turned around, carrying a platter filled with food as she acknowledged her. "I know—refill on the purp juice! Coming right up, Mrs. Dunwiddie!" She called back, approaching a table. "Ari, I need you on purp juice!"
Arianna pushed open the door, rushing past Sarah to get her a cup. "There we go, that's four powered spheroids," She put down the first plate and a toad alien boy pushed it towards his father. "Two lunar eclipses," She put down the next plate. "And it's a big bowl of Zorellian jelly worms for the big boy!" She grinned and set down a bowl of worms in front of him.
"Awesome!" He exclaimed, disintegrating his silverware and digging in by using his hands instead.
"Enjoy!" Sarah told the family, with no issue with his preference.
She rushed to a table that was next to the window, where her dog-alien friend waited.
"Sorry, Delbert! It's been a madhouse here all morning," Sarah told him, smiling gratefully. "But thank stars I have some help around here now."
He closed his book, putting it down. "No problem, Sarah. Ah, do you mean your new hire? I was wondering if you added someone to assist you. I'd love to meet her."
"Of course! I'll bring her over. Here," She gave him his dog food and a bowl of water.
"Ah! My Alponian chowder with the extra solara seed," He unfolded his napkin and placed it in his shirt. "Mmm! Yum!" He watched as Sarah left. He smelled his food and exhaled before he noticed a little toad girl looking at him with large eyes. "Hello," He greeted awkwardly to her. "What brings you here...curious little...one?" She didn't respond and he scooped up a bite with his spoon. He was about to enjoy it when he realized that she was still watching him. "Go away," He shooed her away as politely as possible. He glanced around for anyone who looked like her. "Are your parents around?"
The dog alien sighed as she was quiet. "What's the matter? Cat got your—ahh!" He yelped as she opened her mouth, her frog tongue snatching the food from his spoon.
She swallowed it with a grin, bouncing away as Sarah came back with Arianna. "Oh. They're so adorable at that age!" Sarah said fondly, a hand on her hip.
"Ah, yes...Deplorable," Delbert muttered, putting down his spoon. "Uh! Adorable," He corrected himself, earning a small snicker from the 15-year-old. He unfolded his napkin from his shirt as he didn't feel so hungry at the moment.
"Delbert, this is Arianna, Oliver's daughter. Arianna, this is Dr. Delbert Doppler, I've known him for just as long as your father. He's a regular here at the Benbow."
"Charmed to meet you, Arianna. I'm terribly sorry to hear of your father's passing," Delbert's eyes softened at her and she wiped fresh purp stains off on her apron. She had to squeeze it so that the juice was fresh.
"Please, just Ari is fine," The girl smiled a bit, waving a hand. "Any friend of Sarah's is a friend of mine, and...thank you for your condolences."
"She'll be staying with us and in turn, she'll be working here. If you need anything, just ask her."
"May I ask where your mother is, Ari?" He asked curiously.
Both Sarah and Arianna winced at him, the woman gesturing for him to take back that question. "Umm, it's a little-"
"My mother died after giving birth to me, so I don't even know what she was like."
"Oh!" Doppler's eyes widened and then he frowned, feeling awful. "I-I'm so sorry, I didn't wish to-"
"It's okay. My father never talked about her either...so I don't even know her as a person," Arianna admitted slowly. Her mother Eloise died from complications of childbirth the day after the girl was born. Sarah and Oliver usually didn't talk about her because it was a touchy subject. She couldn't even tell Ari stories about Eloise even, because Oliver never wanted to speak about her since it was a private matter. She did feel a lack of an emotional connection since she didn't remember what her mother looked like even. And it wasn't like anyone had stepped up to tell her.
"Hm..." Delbert rubbed his chin as he stared at her. He had a small feeling that he knew her from somewhere. "You wouldn't happen to be the same Arianna that grew up with Jim, are you?"
"I actually am," She nodded at him. "It's been years since I've seen him or Sarah, but I'm glad we can make new memories together."
Sarah smiled at the girl, a hand on her shoulder.
"If you'll excuse me, I've got to continue with the purp juice. It was nice meeting you, Dr. Doppler," She smiled a bit, walking off.
"It was extremely kind of you to take in the girl, Sarah. I can't imagine losing a father at her age..."
"Yes, well...I just hope that she feels welcome," She sighed, glancing over her shoulder. "She's had a lot to sink in being a teenager and an orphan. I've seen her so many times that it only felt right that I would be the one taking care of her."
"Speaking of children, how is Jim doing?"
"Much better!" Sarah sighed in relief, giving some dirty dishes to Arianna. She acted quickly and ran over to the sink in the other room while balancing the dishes just fine. "I know he had some rough spots earlier this year...But I think that with Ari's help, he can turn to the right corner."
The door was slammed open by the robo cops, with Jim in between them.
Sarah gasped as she dropped the dishes and they fell onto the floor.
"Mrs. Hawkins," One of them greeted, holding onto Jim's shoulder.
"Jim!" She exclaimed upon seeing him.
"Ooh...wrong turn," Delbert turned away, placing his fingers on his temple so that Sarah wouldn't know he was watching.
Jim cleared his throat nervously, brushing off the robo cop's hand and stepping forward. "Okay, thanks for the lift, guys."
The cop grabbed his shoulder again, pulling him backwards. "Not so fast."
Arianna peeked outside from the window from the door, eyes widening as she saw the situation. "We apprehended your son operating a solar vehicle in a restricted area," The cop stated to her. "Moving violation 904, section fifteen. Paragraph...um..." He was blanking on the exact paragraph.
"Six," Jim spoke up, rubbing at his cheek.
"Thank you."
"Don't mention it," He glanced up at the robo-cop.
"Jim!" Sarah scolded him and he looked at her with apologetic eyes before looking down in shame.
"As you are aware, ma'am, this constitutes a violation of his probation."
Arianna gasped a little before groaning knowingly. Jim could be a bit stubborn, so she could tell that the whole 'solar surfing' thing had been going on for a while now.
"Yes, yes. No, I understand," Sarah stammered nervously. "Um, but could we just-"
"Um...ahem!" Delbert cleared his throat, getting up from his table. "Pardon me, officers, if I might, uh, interject here," He stood in front of Jim. "I am the noted astrophysicist Dr. Delbert Doppler. Perhaps you've heard of me?" There was silence from them. "No? Uh, I have a clipping."
"Are you the boy's father?" The one holding Jim pointed at the dog alien.
"Oh! Good Heavens, no," Dr. Doppler denied immediately.
"Ew!" Sarah added in. "He's just an old friend of the family."
"Then back off, sir!" Both cops yelled at Delbert. He flinched and raised his arms defensively.
"Thank you, Delbert. I will take it from here," Sarah told him.
"Well, Sarah, if you insist," He cleared his throat. "Don't ever let me do that again," He mumbled, earning a small smile. She watched as he went back to his table.
"Due to repeated violations of statue 15-C...we have impounded his vehicle. Any more slip-ups will result in a one-way ticket to Juvenile Hall."
"Kiddie hoosegow," The other one chimed in.
"The slammo."
"Thank you, officers," She pulled Jim forward, turning to him. "It won't happen again."
"We see his type all the time, ma'am," One of them said.
"Wrong choices."
"Dead-enders."
"Losers." Jim scowled up at them for that last one.
"Take care now," The cops then rolled out of the inn, closing the door behind him. Sarah turned to the customers, who were all watching, and then they went back to eating and talking to act as if nothing had happened.
"Jim, I have had it," Sarah started off angrily. "Do you wanna go to Juvenile Hall? Is that it?"
He walked up to a table silently, grabbing a tub and cleaning up. "Jim, look at me," She sighed at him, but he didn't respond still. "It's been hard enough keeping this place afloat even with help without you going-"
Jim put down the tub and turned around to her. "Mom, it's no big deal! I was careful. There wasn't even anybody around. Those cops just won't get off my-" Sarah glared at him, her hands on her hips, and that made him stop talking. "Forget it," He sighed and turned away.
"Mrs. Hawkins! My juice!" Mrs. Dunwiddie waved her empty cup in annoyance.
"Yes! I'll be right there, Mrs. Dunwiddie," Sarah told her and then turned to her son. "Jim, I just don't want to see you throw away your entire future." She rushed to get the juice while Jim picked up the tub, backing towards the kitchen. He sighed to himself.
"What future?"
He stepped in and flinched in surprise to see Arianna, who had gone back to cleaning the same time that the customers had turned away. He was so surprised that he almost dropped the tub he was holding. "W-What? Ari, is that you?!"
"Oh, Jim...hi," She turned to him with an awkward smile. "You...you look good." He noticed her look and then scoffed.
"You saw and heard everything, didn't you?" He asked knowingly.
"Yeah..." She bit her lip nervously and he joined her side, washing dishes with her. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to eavesdrop."
"It's nothing," The boy mumbled quietly enough for her to hear. "What are you doing here?" He replied casually.
"I'm...I'm staying with you and Sarah while I get back on my feet. My father passed away earlier this morning," Her eyes saddened at the reminder. He turned to her in surprise, watching her dry a dish forlornly.
"I'm...sorry to hear that," His expression hardened a bit at being reminded of a father.
"Thanks...but you never stopped getting into trouble, do you?" She turned to him, a hand on her hip. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. He was happy to see her again after so long, no doubt, but being in her presence gave him a nagging feeling. When she left, she and her father barely kept in contact, and it felt like he had lost a best friend, someone he was close to and he felt like he could've trusted her...but she didn't trust him back, or at least, not enough to continue her relationship with him.
"Look, Ari...I've messed up a lot of times," He started off. "And you don't know what I've been through. You might not want to be around me for the time being. I'll just drag you into my messes, and that's the last thing I need. But...you look good too. It was good talking to you again."
She blinked in shock as he backed away towards the kitchen door. "Jim..." She murmured, but he didn't say anything as he disappeared. She sighed slowly as he left, looking towards a locket resting on her chest. She opened it up and a hologram appeared, showing her, her father, and her mother...right before...
She bit her lip upon seeing it. If she wasn't trying to pursue her dream and trying to take care of her own household, she could've maintained a better relationship with him...
