Angel: To the person who asked me to write Sing, I actually wrote a journal on Deviantart. It's called Shows and/or movies I'll never write, and every single film so far from Illumination is on that list at number 12. Not kidding. Every single film is on that list. I personally don't find Sing good enough to write. Because Illumination right now doesn't have anything that really speaks to me. Aside from the first two Despicable Me movies, which I like but wouldn't write, I don't really gravitate towards their other films. I said in that journal for example that I'd rather watch the first Sonic movie trailer with its horrendous gag-inducing initial design than to write Hop, which was the second film from them. And since it's the only Illumination film so far in live-action with animation in it, that's saying a lot given how I feel about Hop.

Look, even if Sing was the highest-grossing thing from Illumination, I still wouldn't write it. I've seen every single film from them so far, and they don't do anything for me except Despicable Me 1 and 2, which I find good but not worth doing. So there is no point in trying to ask me to do a film from a studio that I have no passionate feelings towards since most of their films are average in my opinion. If you like Illumination and their films, great! But as for me, it's a hard pass writing anything from them.

The spaceport, where Ari's father used to work, was on the moon specifically, ships coming in and out around the buildings. The spaceport was bustling with life, birds flying past. Jim and Ari stepped down the boat that was their transportation. Ari was wearing a new outfit, since she didn't want to go in her Benbow uniform. She was now wearing a purple dress with long sleeves and a long flowing skirt, a white vest over her clothing. She was also wearing brown boots, and her hair was in a low ponytail. He had never been there, but Ari had visited a few times when her dad forgot his lunch sometimes...Both of them looked excited, Ari glancing at a pupgoat in an alien's arms. Ari chuckled at it fondly.

"Remember when you wanted one of those?"

"Yeah," Jim gave a lighthearted chuckle. "I...kept asking Mom if I could have one, and she said no way. Well, not those exact words, but you get the idea."

She giggled and he smiled at her. He reached out for her hand and then recoiled it back, unsure if she would mind. Ari smiled back at him and they stared into each other's eyes again. Her eyes softened at him as she remembered what he told her.

You might not want to be around me for the time being. I'll just drag you into my messes, and that's the last thing I need.

"Jim...I-"

"Jim! Ari!" Their smiles dropped and Jim sighed at the interruption, looking up to the sky. "Oh, kids! Wait for me!" Ari glanced over her shoulder as Delbert came out of the bus, wearing...a scuba diving suit of all things. However, it was clearly too big for him, and it clanked every time he moved. Jim laughed slightly while Ari slapped his arm lightly.

"Well, Jim, Ari, this should be a wonderful opportunity for the three of us to get to know each other," He smiled awkwardly at the duo, standing between them. "You know what they say, familiarity breeds, um...well, contempt, but, in our cases-"

"Look," Jim interrupted him. "Let's just find the ship. Okay?"

He walked off and Delbert's glass shield fell on him. Ari patted his shoulder lightly. "Don't take it too hard, Delbert. Can I call you that?"

"Oh! Why, most certainly, Ari," He nodded in agreement and she smiled. "This shall be a first step in connecting with each other as-"

"Delbert. I already consider you a friend, you know."

"Y-You do?" He stammered, pulling up his glass shield.

"Sure I do! It's not about the journey when you're exploring, it's also about the friends you make too," Her smile then faltered. "Anyway...Jim's having a hard time connecting with me too..." She stared up ahead as she watched him walk away from them. "I mean, he asked me to stay away, and yet it feels like old times when we interact...so I don't even know what my point is sticking around if he wants me out of his own business...It's like I don't even know him anymore or what he wants." Her eyes saddened and he blinked at her, staring up at Jim.

"But...aren't you two childhood companions?"

"Yeah...that's pathetic, isn't it? And yet it's my fault that I made it this way...why did I stop talking to him? Why didn't I stay?" She pinched her nose with a sigh. "I'm...I'm the reason why he's like this..."

Delbert reached out to comfort her, but she shook her head rapidly, walking off. "Let's just find Jim and this ship..."

He bit his lip, feeling bad for the two. He could tell that Jim didn't really want to be distant from Ari, as by their previous interactions that he had seen. And yet, Ari did bring up a good point...why was Jim acting like they were old friends, and yet asked her to stay away from him?

"Ari!"

He looked up as Jim went back to the girl, taking her hand. "I found someone who knows your dad. Come on!" She blinked as he dragged her along with him.

"Second berth on your right!" A robot on a ladder directed them.

"You can't miss it," An alien spoke up to them.

"Hey, thanks."

"Ah, that Oli...a real shame what happened to him," The alien stated, staring at Ari. "He talked about you all the time, you know. When you return, we'll throw a proper funeral for 'im."

"Yeah...I was the world to him, wasn't I?" Ari smiled weakly, waving to them. "Thank you."

"It's the suit, isn't it?" Delbert called out as he followed after them. "I should have never listened to that pushy two-headed saleswoman. This one said it fit, that one said it was my color."

"Yup, that's Delilah and Catherine, alright," Ari murmured to herself, as Oliver talked about them to her several times. She'd always laugh when he'd come home with the most ridiculous stuff that he didn't need...

"I didn't know what to do. I got so flustered!" Delbert defended as they continued walking.

"My favorite one from them was when he brought you that ridiculous poufy dress for you to wear whenever you 'come of age'," Jim snickered and she groaned a bit.

"Oh man, not that dumb thing...I oughta get Sarah to tailor it."

"It's my favorite because, well...you still looked beautiful to me no matter what you wore," He confessed and she blinked, staring at him. He looked away with a small smile. "Even though it was the stupidest thing you ever put on."

She blushed at him and before either of them could say anything, Delbert bumped into them from behind. Jim glanced back at him in annoyance for ruining the moment again.

"Oh, kids! This is our ship!" Delbert smiled at the sight in front of them. "The RLS Legacy!"

They stared at the ship in awe as it looked so grand and spectacular.

"Whoa!" Jim commented, Ari gasping.

"Wow...I'm actually seeing it with my own eyes..." She murmured as they stepped forward. The three boarded the ship.

"Stow those casks forward!" Someone bellowed out. "Heave together now!"

"How cool is this?" Jim asked Ari before bumping into something squishy. He looked up and realized that he had bumped into an alien, who looked ready to fight him. "Sorry about that," He stepped away immediately. "I didn't mean-"

The alien started making angry fart noises, blowing air right into his face and messing up his hair. Ari laughed at his appearance and he smirked at her. "Go on, laugh, Rosalind," He mocked at her and she gasped a bit, blushing in embarrassment.

"Using my middle name? Really? That was low," She pouted at him. Delbert stared at her and then blinked in realization. Rosalind meant pretty rose, so Jim was either calling her that just for the sake of it or to tease her, but Delbert easily saw that it was both.

"Allow me to handle this," Delbert then started making farting noises with his mouth and armpit, smiling at the alien when he was finished. The alien looked happy and was most likely laughing at whatever Delbert just did. "I'm fluent in Flatula, children," He informed the duo. "Took two years of it in high school." He blew a raspberry and saluted to the alien.

"Flatula? Cool," Jim smiled as he fixed his hair.

"Of course you'd think so," Ari rolled her eyes in amusement as she brushed her hair back to normal with her hands. Jim and Ari then caught up with Delbert, who was talking to a large Rock entity wearing a red uniform.

"Good morning, Captain. Everything ship-shape?"

"Ship-shape it is, sir," He put his hands behind his back. "But I'm not the captain. The captain's aloft." He gestured up to the sky. A cat-like woman ran across the beam, jumping off and grabbing a rope while flipping. She landed on another beam and then grabbed a rope, twirling before landed on her feet. Delbert's glass fell over his face again, the three glancing at each other.

"Amazing..." Ari murmured in awe of the captain's skills.

"Mr. Arrow, I've checked this miserable ship from stem to stern and, as usual...it's spot on," Her previous harsh look turned into a smile. "Can you get nothing wrong?"

"You flatter me, Captain," He tipped his hat to her.

Then she smiled, turning and facing Delbert, her eyes widening. Then she seemed amused as a smirk hit her. "Ah. Dr. Doppler, I presume?"

"Uh, um...yes, I-"

"Hello!" She interrupted, mimicking yelling. She then knocked on his helmet. "Can you hear me?"

"Yes, I can! Stop that banging!" He scowled at her.

"If I may, Doctor, this works so much better when it's right-way up and plugged in," She fixed up his suit and he flinched. "Lovely. There you go."

He took off his helmet. "If you don't mind, I can manage my own plugging!" He protested, unplugging the suit.

She seemed to ignore him and then took the hand that held the plug, staking it. "I'm Captain Amelia, late of a few run-ins with the Protean Armada. Nasty business, but I won't bore you with my scars. You've met my first officer, Mr. Arrow. Sterling, tough, dependable, honest, brave, and true."

"Please, Captain," He smiled at her.

"Oh, shut up, Arrow. You know I don't mean a word of it."

Delbert cleared his throat. "Excuse me. I hate to interrupt this lovely banter, may I introduce to you Arianna Johnson and Jim Hawkins?" He gestured to the two teens, who were still glancing around the ship.

"It's nice to meet-"

Amelia got into Ari's face, causing her to clamp her mouth shut. She rubbed her chin at the girl, looking at her outfit first. "Hm. I guess she'll suffice. Not that she'll do much to redeem herself on this ship unless she proves otherwise," Amelia looked at her up and down. Ari flinched and huffed at her.

"Excuse me? I don't need to prove anything to anyone my worth as a person," She argued back firmly. "I could care less what you think of me."

Amelia blinked down at her, looking a bit taken back, but then she regained her composure immediately. "Oh, this one's got some fire in her, doesn't she? Well, it can only go so far."

"Ugh!" Ari crossed her arms, looking away as her initial opinion had now soured.

"Jim and Ari, you see, are the ones who found the treasure-"

Amelia suddenly grabbed his cheeks hard, silencing him. "Doctor, please!" She glanced at the...very suspicious looking crew, who then went back to work. "I'd like a word with you in my stateroom," She spoke lowly after letting go of Doppler.

Once they entered her stateroom, she closed and locked the door behind her. "Doctor, to muse and blabber about a treasure map in front of this particular crew demonstrates a level of ineptitude that borders on the imbecilic, and I mean that in a very caring way."

Delbert looked flabbergasted at being seen as an imbecile. Especially after the plug-in stunt from her earlier. "Imbecilic, did you say? Foolishness, I've got-"

"May I see the map, please?" Amelia interrupted him, holding out her hand. Jim and Ari looked over to Delbert, silently wondering if it was okay. He was about to argue to Amelia when he saw their looks and then gestured to her.

"Here," Jim carelessly tossed it from his pocket and she caught it.

"Hmm," She inspected it with interest. "Fascinating." Then she glanced at the two teenagers. "Mr. Hawkins, Ms. Johnson," She opened up a cabinet where a small open chest was waiting. "In the future, you both will address me as 'Captain' or 'ma'am.' Is that clear?"

"Ugh..." Jim groaned, rolling his eyes. He really didn't want to give her any respect; he already didn't showcase that with the police...not only that, he didn't care for the Captain's reaction to his friend.

"Yes, Captain," Ari didn't look particularly happy about that demand either, given Amelia's first impression of her, but she'd rather stay out of trouble unlike Jim. She kept her eyes on Amelia as she nudged Jim, who gave her an accusing look. She crossed her arms at him, gesturing to the cat woman.

"Mr. Hawkins?" She asked again sternly.

"...Yes, ma'am," He finally relented to her.

"That'll do," She closed the cabinet shut, locking it. "Gentlemen, lady, this must be kept under lock and key when not in use. And, Doctor, again," She approached him. "With the greatest possible respect, zip your howling screamer."

"Captain, I assure you, I-"

"Let me make this as...monosyllabic as possible," She took a seat at her desk. "I...don't much care for this crew you hired," She pointed at him with an annoyed expression on her face. "They're...How did I describe them, Arrow? I said something rather good this morning before coffee."

"A ludicrous parcel of driveling galoots, ma'am," He reminded her and she smiled.

"There you go. Poetry." Though, she did give a quick glance to Ari, who was now examining things with Jim. She wouldn't admit it, but something deep down told her that Ari wasn't a 'driveling galoot.' She seemed to be much more competent and headstrong, to say the least. But she still hadn't seen Ari's skills yet to change an already negative opinion when she first laid eyes on her.

"Now, see here-" Delbert slammed his hands on the table.

"Doctor, I'd love to chat, tea, cake, the whole shebang, but I have a ship to launch, and you've got your outfit to buff up," She booped his nose, to his disbelief. "Mr. Arrow, please escort these two neophytes and Ms. Johnson down to the galley straightaway. Young Hawkins will be working for our cook, Mr. Silver, while Young Johnson will be our scullery maid during our expedition."

Jim stopped playing with the mechanism as Ari dropped her bag in shock. "W-What? The cook?!"

"A scullery maid?!" Ari exclaimed in slight anger.
