"I don't think the gun will be necessary. Will it Alicia?"

Clark kept his voice as even as he could, hoping that the shock he was feeling wasn't present on his face. Alicia Baker was standing in front of him. His mind flashed back to the time they had spent together. Meeting her in the elevator, their date that ended with her teleporting into his bedroom. Clark having to stop her before she harmed anyone else.

"No Clark. No guns are needed. Sheriff, I'm not here to start trouble. I'm just here to check in. Part of my release from Belle Reve." She said, walking over and handing Jo the documentation.

She skimmed through it quickly, and then she nodded once.

"Alright Miss Baker. Everything seems to check out. You'll check in once a day here, and you'll be staying with your mother. Attend school, live life. What about the block on your ability?"

Alicia raised her left arm, showing a dull grey bracelet that was on her wrist.

"My newest fashion accessory. It sends lead into my bloodstream every hour. Bye bye powers."

"Alright then. You're good to go. But Alicia? Don't cause any trouble."

"Yes Sheriff uh-"

"Lupo."

"Lupo. Nice to meet you. Good to see you again Clark. The uniform looks good on you."

"Thanks. Guess I'll see you around." He said, and she nodded.

"I guess so."

There was a long moment of awkward silence. Then Alicia turned and left the Sheriff's office.

"Well that was-"

"Awkward." Jo finished, and Cark nodded.

"You told me about her. I'm guessing you left out a couple of details?" Jo asked quietly.

"We used to date. She knows my secret, not that she'd ever tell anyone. She's one of the only people I've ever met that I felt like I could be myself around."

"Should I be jealous?" Jo asked, only half teasing. She liked Clark. She did. She also knew that they hadn't decided to pursue a relationship. But she needed to make one thing clear. She wouldn't be someone's second choice. She'd dealt with that once. Never again.

Clark didn't respond for a moment. He would be lying if some of his old feelings hadn't immediately resurfaced when he saw her enter the Sheriff's Office. However, he also remembered how their time together had ended.

He shook his head.

"No. There's nothing between us. Not anymore. I think I'm gonna go get a cup of coffee, if that's okay. You want anything?"

"That's fine. I'd just like coffee. Cream, one sugar. Thank you. I'll call if something comes up. Please do the same. Remember, we're partners. Plus, you're the only friend I've got in this town." She said, and he smiled.

"Will do."

Then he walked out of the office, thinking about the day he'd had so far. Little did he know that today would be tame, compared to what next week would bring.
