"Sir, I am telling you, this Division is real."

"Not one shred of proof."

A newscaster was speaking. He only caught the tail end.

"Fletcher, former rising star of the Central Intelligence Agency was killed after a firefight with federal officials."

He saw her face. Her brown eyes. He heard her voice.

"Welcome to Division."

Then he saw Percy.

"Impressive Mr. Fletcher. Now you're going to help us."

Then he saw her again.

"Love you."

Ryan Fletcher bolted upright in the bed, feeling the sweat on his forehead. He felt his heart racing.

"Nightmare again?"

He turned his head, looking into her brown eyes.

"The same one. Every time."

"I'm worried about you Ryan. You haven't been sleeping well, and don't try to argue with me."

He sighed, taking her hand.

"I know. It's just nerves I guess. If we pull this off, it's going to cause a major shit storm."

"I know that. But it's the way it has to be. They have to believe the cover story. You can still come with me you know." She said with a smile. He kissed her, and then shook his head.

"Like you said, they have to believe the cover story. One dead operative with no body, they'll believe. Two of them will raise too much suspicion. Besides, you need someone in there to watch your back."

"It'll be years before I start something." She said to him, her tone almost pleading.

"I know, and we will have no idea what happens if one of us isn't on the inside. We both know you're the better field operative. Percy's already talking about letting me start working with Birkhoff on a couple of ops if today goes well. In a couple years, who knows? Maybe I'm running operations." He said, and she smiled.

"If that's the case, I'd actually be okay working there. So long as the king and the queen bitch are dead." She said, and Ryan chuckled.

"We'll get there. One day at a time. Now, let's go over the plan one more time."

"Okay. Here's the plan." Nikita said, kissing him hard on the lips.

"We spend today making love, then we go over the plan while we have dinner."

"Is that an order?" He asked, and she smiled.

"Absolutely."

Division-48 Hours Later

"Excellent work Ryan. The loss of Nikita was tragic, but the objective was completed. You've done a great service for your country." Percy said, walking over to the bottle of scotch he kept in his office. Ryan had drank from it exactly twice. The first time when he officially became an agent, and the second when he had changed the mission parameters in the field. Roan had been irritated, but Percy and Amanda had praised his initiative on that day. Nikita had praised him that night.

"Thank you sir." He replied, accepting the drink Percy offered him.

"To another successful mission, and to Nikita. Perhaps the finest agent this organization has ever seen." Percy said, raising his glass.

"To Nikita. Rest in peace." Ryan said, raising his own.

The two men drank from their glasses, sipping the scotch slowly.

"How did she die again?" Percy asked.

"We had just executed the target and were making our exfil. We were crossing a bridge and the soldiers fired. Nikita pushed me out of the way, took two in the back and went over the side. I killed the soldiers but there were more coming. I wish I'd done more."

"You did all you could. I know she would say the same. She was proud of you, you know? Told me you were her recruit. Her best recruit. I'd like you to take two days, get some r and r. Then I want you back here. You've got a bright future ahead of you with Division."

"Yes sir." Ryan replied, finishing his drink and walking out of the office.

Then he went to the garage and left Division. Twenty minutes later he pulled into a small apartment complex. He ascended the stairs to the third floor, opening the first apartment on the right.

He tossed his keys on the counter and walked over to his bookshelf, pulling out an atlas. Opening the book to page 12, he removed a hollowed out piece of the book and pulled out a disposable cell phone.

"How'd it go?"

"Worked like a charm. They don't suspect anything. I've got two days off. Any chance that-"

"No. You know that."

Ryan sighed audibly.

"I know. I love you."

"I love you too. Now go get some rest."

"Yes dear." He said, and she laughed.

"I see I've trained you in more than just tradecraft. Good man. Sweet dreams."

"Sweet dreams." He replied, hanging up the phone and replacing it where it was. They would use this phone for a week, and then they would change it up. This was the part they both hated. The separation. The loss. But they would get through it. They would kill Percy and Amanda. Then they would have it all.

Two Years Later-Division Operations

"Ryan, you need to take a look at this. Right now." Birkhoff said, and Ryan walked over.

"What?"

"A security camera in Philly caught this two hours ago." He said, pulling up an image.

"I don't know how to tell you this man but...Niki's alive."
