A/N: So after watching Dirty Girls I had to write this! Please do not spoil the rest of the series in the comments. I hope you all enjoy!

Sunnydale Memorial

"Buffy? Hey B, wake up."

Faith's voice roused Buffy from her sleep, the blonde taking the coffee the other Slayer offered without comment. Her eyes moved down the row of hospital beds. Rona was unconscious, her arm in a sling. Kennedy was sitting up, sipping some water and whispering something she couldn't hear to an unconscious Xander, who lay in the bed beside her. Buffy took a sip of her coffee, blinking back tears as she laid eyes on her best male friend. His face was covered in bandages, the most prominent one being above his right eye. Or rather, where his right eye had once been before that sadistic preacher Caleb had removed it. She could still hear the madman's voice right before he took Xander's eye. Caleb had called him the one who saw everything.

"He was right you know? Caleb. He called Xander the one who saw everything." Buffy said quietly to Faith.

"We'll get this son of a bitch Buffy." Faith replied, the anger clear in her tone. She knew Buffy and the Scoobies stance on killing humans, but she didn't care. For what he did to Xander, Caleb was going to die.

"I was the one who didn't see everything." Buffy said, her voice breaking slightly.

"Buffy, what he did to Xander is not on you." Faith insisted. She knew what all-consuming guilt did to a person. She didn't want Buffy to go down that road.

"He believed in me. He convinced them to follow me. He was the one spending hours helping us with tactics and strategy. If Willow is my best gun, he's my right hand. The one person I have been able to depend on no matter what. We've had our disagreements, but at the end of the day, he has always had my back."

"That's the X-man for you. Loyal to a fault and heedless of his own safety. Not to mention he's fantastic in the sack." She said, and Buffy snorted slightly. Leave it to Faith to throw in an innuendo.

"Did I ever tell you how we met?" She asked, and Faith shook her head. Buffy grinned and proceeded to tell her the story, the brunette laughing when she heard that Xander had asked if he could have the blonde slayer.

"He asked me to spring formal once. I told him no, that he was like one of the girls. The truth is, he's the best man I know. I wasn't ready to be with him then. I was too focused on the bad boys, the mystery of Angel or Spike or Riley."

She looked over at his bed, closing her eyes.

"Xander, I'm ready now. Please pull through, please wake up. Please."

Beside her, Faith was saying a silent prayer of her own. Seeing Xander lying there brought back feelings she had long thought gone. She felt regret go through her as she remembered their one night stand and her subsequent actions once it was done. She had almost literally thrown him out on the street. Here this man was, spurned by both the Slayers, in her case, used and discarded like a used toy. But despite all that, he still fought by their side. He still went to war with them. He'd been one of the only ones to welcome her back without acting as though she was an evil lunatic. Faith promised herself that if he woke up, she would treat him better.

"C'mon X. Wake up." She whispered quietly.

In the bed beside him, Kennedy was whispering a similar prayer. He had gotten her away from Caleb, and it had cost him his eye. She and Xander weren't what you would call particularly close, but she respected him. She ignored the feeling inside her that said it may be something more than that. She didn't like men, not like that. Besides, she was with Willow. But even Kennedy had to admit he was unlike any man she had ever met. He had no powers. He didn't have the potential that she and the other girls had. He was just an average guy. But how many average guys would walk into a war with the denizens of hell? How many average guys would follow a girl with the destiny of Buffy Summers? Xander Harris had proven he was much more than an average guy. He was special.

A/N: So I hope you all enjoyed this story! I'm still undecided if I'm going to leave this as a one-shot or continue it. Please let me know what you would like to see in a review, and thank you for reading!
