Chapter 3 – Explanations
The heroes now back in civilian clothes went with Wasabi's car to the Muirahara Woods where Emma had indicated. On the car of course was some of GoGo's camping supplies and her bike for when she will have to return home. Parking at the outskirts, the group got out and went to the table where their dhampir girl was waiting for them.
"Sorry we had to meet in those circumstances I hope that the people didn't thought that something was off while on the road." Emma said.
"GoGo stayed in the middle anyways and many didn't saw her, who did believed we were getting her to or from a costume party." Wasabi said.
"At least it was inconspicuous to a degree. And GoGo I hope it wasn't something too problematic in this…..situation at hand."
"The only thing I had to take care of is trying to make sure no one steps on my tail. And to be honest been a bit taller is something I like."
"Glad to hear this." She said checking her watch "We should go now the meeting is a bit deeper in the forest." Emma said taking the lead.
"How deeper exactly?" Hiro asked not too keen of going to deep due to the insects.
"Don't worry, it would be too far. You have to do however one thing, when you meet them don't make loud noises." Emma said turning to them.
"Who would make loud noises?" Fred asked with a smirk while she and the others were looking at him and with a bit of a glare Emma looked to Wasabi.
"Anyways let's go." The group started to enter the woods following the dhampir girl while looking around and as it happened they didn't went too far from where left the car, it was a small round clearing before dense forests were upfront, Emma then stopped walking.
"Why did we stopped?" Honey Lemon asked.
"There is where we meet, however someone must stay here to watch for possible trespassers and the curious. And Wasabi you will do it."
"Fine by me still I doubt there will be anyone that will try to come around here." He said.
"You never know, and besides you would freak for sure I can already tell that when they arrive." She said and the Afro-American somehow got a hint, especially that if aside from a hunter the second one who might know a bit more should be something else.
"I will stay here." He said getting on a downed tree trunk.
"The rest we go a bit further." She said getting into the center of the clearing.
"Well here we and how much we will have to wait till the expert your uncle called arrive?" GoGo asked, not knowing that the sharp year of the dhampir already moved indicating that movement was happening.
"Don't worry; they are close, nearly here."
"Wait a minute." Hiro asked going before her "They?"
"The one my uncle told about is the leader of a group of numbering five in total, each having a back-story."
"Back-story what do you mean by that?"
"Well in my situation with vampires I told how things are with them since I am half member of that species. But in this situation I have to tell that the best information we could get is now from another source that isn't necessarily a hunter." She explained.
"And by that you mean." Hiro asked before he felt a force hitting his right shoulder something large standing on it, moving his eyes slowly he noticed a large black fur covered hand with claws attached to an arm the same way. This now left him feel a sense deep dread before moving his head and saw a pair of yellow eyes and the big head of a wolf who was standing there in bipedal form, very tall and very muscular, a real werewolf.
"Hello there." He said with a smile before everyone turned around and saw him.
"Ahh Emma is he…." Hiro started barely breathing now.
"He is not alone." She said and then around, than other 4 werewolves jump from the forest to them each having different fur color, one male had brown fur another one navy blue while another was grey, they could also notice 2 females, the breasts giving it away, one of them having yellow fur while the other was had reddish. It was a whole pack and they were surrounded, all except Wasabi who on seeing this jumped behind the log while GoGo got a bit defensive, Fred got excited and Honey Lemon scared.
"We are surrounded." Honey Lemon said holding to her purse trembling.
"You don't need to worry they aren't going to hurt any of you." Emma said trying to reassure them.
"I guess they didn't expect meeting us now isn't it?" Said the first werewolf.
"It was the same reaction for me as well don't worry." She said before everyone turned to her.
"Wait Emma, you know them?" Hiro asked.
"They are the ones my uncle told you about. First of all meet William Wolf he is the Alpha of this Pack he comes from a long family of werewolves and was also a student of my uncle who graduated this year."
"Really?" Honey Lemon asked now impressed.
"I took up engineering with Professor Van Helsing, however as leader of a pack I needed to take psychology as side activity in order to help the ones who got by accident into this state." He explained while Wasabi started to come out from behind the log.
"Ohh is this night going to get even more interesting." Fred said in excitement.
"Been surrounded by werewolves would have logically meant people getting very injured in what is known." Baymax said.
"Don't over think what is generally known isn't quite correct." Hiro said.
"Glad some know that." Said the navy blue werewolf.
"And I need to ask what do you mean by accident?" Honey Lemon asked.
"Renegade werewolf attack people, we stay more in the countryside, near fields and forests and our territory usually includes the woods around our homes in the villages and small towns some packs like this one is doing everything possible to defend the territory and the people in it against renegade packs of werewolves or lone wolfs and were-creatures. And I believe that there is one here whom you probably know yourself. Honey Lemon isn't it?" Will said.
"Ah yes but what do you mean I might know someone?" She asked.
"Hello Honey Lemon." Said one of the female werewolves the one with yellow blond fur stepping at first glance she didn't recognized her until she noticed her braided hair and a blue bracelet at her hand.
"Willa? Willa Wild?" Honey Lemon asked in shock.
"Shocked isn't it?" She said with a smirk.
"Never expected I would see you in this form." GoGo said.
"You know her?" Hiro asked.
"We were colleagues at organic chemistry but her specialty was bio engineering." Honey Lemon said before turning to her.
"I live at a farm with my family not too far from here I went to SFIT in order to learn more to help my parents around."
"It's no wonder why you were going outside at night when full moon was coming." GoGo said.
"But how did this happened?" She asked.
"When I was 9 years old I was attacked in a camping trip by werewolf gone rogue. My parents were of course shocked about what happened it was no wonder especially after been on the spot I was lucky that Will's parents came and told us that they could help me. It didn't took too long until I managed to see how to control myself. This of course gave me an opportunity to both help my parents and protecting my little brother and sister." She explained with a smile.
"This is really something I didn't expected." Honey Lemon said with a smile to her.
"And what about the others?"
"Well little half-vampire here did tell all of you that each have different backgrounds." Will said and they nodded.
"Javier." He pointed to the brown werewolf "Inherited Lycanthrope from his father while having a human mother, however his father turned renegade and had to be put down by him when he tried to attack his own family and so he took up the position of becoming a cop one of the best I would say, having now a way to protect his mother and other relatives." He said before turning to the white one.
"Xavier here had inherited a family heirloom, the belt of the white wolf which turn one into a white werewolf, very useful in winter especially for scouting." He said before turning to the navy blue werewolf.
"Remus is someone who inherited lycanthrope from his grandfather. There are some people who don't manage to inherit it especially if he has a human grandmother and a normal human is born like his father was."
"I was scared at first but I embraced this and also gives me a way to protect my little brother and little sister, younger then my brother alongside my parents. Also my girlfriend likes werewolves." He said with a sense of pride.
"And for Anna here." Will pointed to the reddish one "She inherited it from her mother, she also has 2 twin brothers who sometimes get picked on time by time and she jumps to the rescue. Her mother also tries to help her despite the fact that her mother came from a pack of deeply conservative reactionary werewolves who didn't wanted to mingle with humans at all."
"Like how Emma explained to us about good vampires and bad vampires." Hiro said.
"Exactly."
"Well then I hope you would be able to tell me a bit more about this new form."
"Ah yes the new were-cheetah GoGo Tomago a real honor." He started before Fred came in the way.
"First before everything I have to say this is a real honour, pack leader or Alpha wolf. This is one of the most exciting things ever in my whole life." He started to rabble with deep excitement, however it didn't impressed Will.
"Is he one who looks too much into movies and books about us?"
"About many things actually." Wasabi called from some miles away not moving from where he was placed.
"Hey Wasabi don't you want to come you saw that everything is safe." Hiro called.
"No, no I am fine over here besides I have to watch out for possible tourists coming by. I will try to join later."
"You don't know what you are losing." Fred called.
"Trust me I don't lose anything." He called back before taking a seat on the log "Except for the idea of screaming at werewolf movies, as if I would ever watch one." He said to himself, thanking God for the fact that he never was interested in such stuff, the "bad" luck was finding out that this stuff is real while the good luck about this was the fact of not been how it is portrayed.
"Good thing I was never into such stuff, because I would have surely lost my mind." He murmured to himself.
"Anyways what can you tell me about how to deal with this thing now?" GoGo asked showing the medallion.
"Her uncle told us that you might know more about this kind of stuff regarding those medallions."
"Ohh I am very familiar with this, it's like Xavier's belt. We also have the werewolf medallions. Those alongside the werecat medallions regardless of subspecies work in similar ways. Once one gets a hold of one he must have it before midnight otherwise you already have the picture of what could happen." Will explained.
"We do." Honey Lemon said.
"Well in this case the cheetah medallion works in the same way and from I see you wore it right when you had to. There are some things that must be taken into account, one of them is that the medallion after each transformation will have to recharge like a phone or a battery, this is done in the course of a month done only during the night and when there is full moon it charges completely. One aspect to be known is that despite that the full moon charges it completely, it isn't necessary to transform during a full moon like in our case."
"It isn't? Well this is really some good news." GoGo said.
"But how could one shift then if it isn't necessarily during full moon?" Hiro asked.
"Like with Xavier's belt, it is the wearer who can order it to transform. But there are 2 aspects to be known. Even if the medallion will still be charging during the course of a month but when the full moon is close, the medallion could influence one if it keeps it close. Those medallions are by essence very powerful, which is when the medallion comes it could cause a change. If you don't change at least once a month by all it is advisable for one to change at least once every 6 weeks. The power of those medallions if not used, could cause a change at random when you expect the least especially if you keep it close either wearing it or keeping it in a pocket or your bag."
"So one has to change at least once every 6 weeks? To prevent a change at random." She asked.
"In essence, yes. At least once every 6 weeks."
"When will I and the others know when the time has come?"
"If the medallion gives you more strength then one would normally has or when it turns you agitated. This is done mostly and only when you the medallion close to you like I said, in a bag, wear it or if you simply put it near your bed. But there is another way. By getting angry, if you are provoked or gets very angry then and have the medallion around then it will happen and also make one loose its mind for at least 5 to 10 minutes." Xavier explained.
"So I have to try to not get angry like today." GoGo said.
"You got angry?"
"Because of a twerp."
"We manage to calm her down by placing the medallion on her neck very soon. However the scene kind of made my evening." Fred said with a calm smile, remembering the event with gratitutde.
"Well today was also your first shift and surely it was also because of this. But by all accounts you should try to not get angry and have this near you. As it happens I believe I know who this belong to before you. It belonged to someone who had it for 3 generations. First one who had it stole it actually and become a thief while 2 of descendants use it for better purpose. However the one who got it now didn't wanted to be burdened by it and so it decided to rather give it away or pass it on to someone who might use it." Will explained.
"Well that is something now, and it's true that I can use it and usually I like to come in the woods to do bird watching, however whom I can rely to give it if I decide to actually, give it up?"
"I could take it, however you could try to use it for a time." Will said with a smirk.
"Who said I want to give it up immediately. I could use it for a time." She said with a smirk while the others looked at one another.
"Ahh, can we talk about this." Honey Lemon started with a stressed smile.
"Honey you don't need to worry I think I can take the hand in this." GoGo said with a smirk before on Baymax's belly a phone started to ring.
"Excuse me." Hiro said taking the robot to a nearby location that didn't showed the pack of werewolves to answer and immediately the heads of Karmi and Megan came.
"Hiro I heard that this night is another supernatural event, too bad we aren't there." Megan said.
"Yeah and you would not believe in what company we got ourselves now into." Hiro said.
"To whom he is speaking?" Javier asked.
"Don't worry; he is speaking to some who are trustworthy in this situation." Wasabi called to the group.
"Ahh will be there a problem if they join in as well they will not utter a word." Hiro called.
"You will be responsible for that, if you want to know." Javier said with a stern voice.
"I know that but they really could be trusted especially if they know Emma's secret as well and didn't uttered a word." He said trying to defuse the sitation.
"Hmm I let it be, for now." He said and then Hiro turned Baymax around and 2 girls in video-chat mode could make faces either of shock or amazement. Didn't knew which was more shocking GoGo as a cheetah or they been surrounded by 5 werewolves and they weren't torn to shreds.
"So a were-creature medallion equals the company of wolves." Megan said a bit of stress.
"Amazing is the fact that you had a conversation with them." Karmi said by all accounts she looked as if she saw every supernatural thing enough for a lifetime and werewolves and werecheetah that was a person in knowing.
"Ah yeah, I believe that is something that isn't for the faint hearted." Will said with a smirk.
"We will let you continue this conversation then." Karmi said with a stressed smile.
"So anything else there is to know aside from what I should do with the medallion so that I wouldn't lose my mind or turn when in this form when I shouldn't and when I get angry?" Asked GoGo.
"A small aspect there is to be known." Will said getting out a bag he was carrying to open it.
"First of all fetch." He threw something at her from his bag and the half-cheetah Korean girl caught it and immediately felt her hands starting to irritate a bit.
"auch-auch." GoGo whined changing the hands that hold the object before Honey Lemon caught it and immediately was amazed by what she was seeing. It was a chalice, made of pure gold with 4 precious gems at 4 points of it.
"Wait! This is a chalice made of pure gold." Honey Lemon said amazed holding the object.
"The object isn't that important as it is the material is made from. While silver is irritating us werewolves while in this form so is the gold irritating the werecats while in the form? What is important is when in were cheetah form, to not touch gold. You already felt the results as of why you shouldn't." The Alpha explained.
"So in this form I must not touch anything made of gold, I am not too much with jewels anyways."
"Good to know." He said.
"From where did you got the chalice still?" Megan asked.
"My great-grandfather won it and took it from a were-panther who ironically like gold and to collect different precious objects."
"Probably stolen, again not something expected." Karmi said crossing his arms.
"So aside from those things is there anything else." GoGo asked.
"That was most of what is to know I have to say mention that the most important thing is you to not get enraged or too angry because it could trigger change as for when you are in this form you have to try to exhaust it during the night. Oh and for the full moon I must say that if you keep the medallion in the light of a night with full moon and you wear it or carry it, it could also trigger. Despite what I said that it isn't necessarily to transform during a night with full moon if you keep it locked, and not expose it to the moonlight. Oh and when you turn back to normal it isn't necessarily to wear the medallion but for good measure it is better to have it."
"I see, but what about sleep?"
"It is recommended 8 to 10 hours of constant sleep so that one could be rested for the next day." Baymax said showing a diagram while the images of the 2 girls were placed on the left side Karmi's image been above Megan's.
"You can sleep in this form without any trouble even in this form but while in it you will not require too much sleep, with the medallion that gives you this form and power you need to use it, preferably in different ways to exhaust the magic."
"Not too different from what I do during the day." GoGo said with a smile before looking at the moon and by all it gives her a somehow desire to do something.
"I wouldn't do this usually, however in this form I need to do something." She said.
"What are you talking about?" Hiro asked while she smirked.
"ROOOOAAAAAAAARRRR" GoGo roared so loud which by all accounts could make anyone drop to the earth and this happened to Wasabi.
"I needed that."
"Ha-ha not the only one, welcome to the club." Will said before he and the other werewolves turned to the moon as well.
"AAAAAAAAWWOOOOOOOOHH" The whole pack howled which again made the other fall even the girls in the video chat.
"It seems it is enough for werewolves to howl and makes one run away. No need to go into a slashing, bashing or any kind of killing or destruction spree." Megan commented getting back on her video chat while getting back on her chair.
"I guess the wild imagination of people was also linked when regular wolves were also involved when they howled." Karmi said trying to get back on her seat as well holing herself by her desk.
"Good deduction there." Willa said with a smile.
"Well at least we got all the information needed." Wasabi said coming to them at last.
"We thank you a lot Will you were really helpful." Emma said to the leader of the pack extending her hand to shake his.
"No trouble there, send my regards to your uncle Professor Van Helsing I am glad he was my teacher."
"No problem, by the way I need get my…..chalice back." He said before noticing someone drinking from it, and it wasn't Fred it was actually Honey Lemon who poured some water from her bottle.
"Sorry, couldn't help it, drinking from a real golden chalice is really a privilege." She said with excitement.
"Who wouldn't think that way?" Will said with a calm smile, taking it and from his bag took a hanky to clean it.
"Now we should go back to our territory further north." Will started before Fred went before them.
"Ah before you do that, can I ask you several questions?"
"What do you want to know?" Anna asked.
"First of all Emma and her relatives told us about the fact that werewolves and vampires aren't sworn supernatural enemies. But surely this information has to have a glimmer of truth in it?"
"Well we aren't enemies except for some who want to compete with how famous is one or the other. However there is a bit of rivalry between us because of one aspect in our case."
"And what would that be?" Wasabi asked.
"Well I am not saying anything about her mother but vampire's part of them consider themselves of noble breed, some of them are snobs and brag about quite many things around us like how refined they are."
"And in the view of the vampires, they see them sometimes as brutes and animals by how they behave when they go out of control or when they turn things into a competition. And don't want to say anymore to trouble the mood now." Emma said.
"In all cases this is the general view for both sides." Will said.
"And the last one how did her uncle knew you are a werewolf." Honey Lemon asked.
"I helped him hunt down a vampire during a night with full moon in autumn." He said.
"Really amazing how the world of shadows work sometimes." Karmi commented.
"So do we continue to communicate in the future?" Hiro asked wanting to shake his hand
"Of course." He said accepting it but he regretted immediately because he was squishing it with his pure force.
"Hmmm what a grip." Hiro said before Will let go.
"Sorry about that. Sometimes I don't know my own strength."
"No problem." Hiro said still hurting a bit before Baymax came.
"The grip was very powerful it is advisable to apply cold ice or something very cold on it." He said getting the boy's hand and covered in his hands and emanated icy cold temperatures to lean the pain.
"Healthcare robot impressive, hold it with your teeth." Anna said showing her teeth.
"I will."
"Alright pack let's return to our territory." Will said before everyone started to go back into the woods while the others were watching.
"The more ones know about the supernatural somehow the more interesting it gets." Commented Karmi.
"And the more amazing." Fred said with excitement.
"Yet it is also advisable to watch out for the dangers that could come with it." Emma started turning to them.
"Events like this are another main reason why I also tried to never talk about this so that things like this wouldn't happen." She started turning a bit guilty. "By all I feel responsible for this, and by the way GoGo I do apologies for this happening to you."
"Hey it's not your fault, just because we know that you are part of the supernatural and we started to encounter it. Both the good and bad doesn't make you responsible in any way for what happened." Honey Lemon said taking her by the shoulders to look at her with an encouraging smile.
"She is right besides I don't think this will be too much of a burden. On the contrary I think I would try to make use of this thing night since I am here." GoGo said with a smile.
"We will prepare your tent then but I wouldn't like to stay here." Hiro said already hearing insects around right when he felt his hand back to full heath.
"Thanks for the encouragement. Still what happened to Mole after you managed to get GoGo wear the medallion when she turned?" Emma asked.
"We left him at his shop; I put a small message for him." Fred said with a smirk.
At Mole's shop the boy had managed to wake up after hours having a comic book on his face an issue of captain Fancy but not one of the rare issues which includes an adventure with cats.
"Urgh, what on earth just happened." He asked himself lifting the comic to look at it.
"Huh guess I had imagined everything, but boy what a dream." He said before he noticed he was having something on his belly, a slender yellow spotted cat.
"Gaah!" He screamed before with the cat who saw his face having a moustache but the thing that scared the animal was that his face had been drawn to look like a dog.
Back at the spot the team had managed to prepare GoGo's tent, it was done in a very short time and thanks to Emma's super strength she brought GoGo's motorbike to be near.
"Well everything is done have a good 'hunting' in the forest." Wasabi said.
"It will be more of a stroll around." She said before the were-cheetah girl started to run through the woods feeling everything around her and hearing every sound with all her enhanced abilities from as a were-cheetah. She was also running at a very high speed much faster than how she would usually run without her wheels and she liked it alongside climbing and jumping the trees and this went on till she reached the cliff where she would usually stay to watch birds once climbed there she looked at the moon and with great strength she gave another roar followed by a hiss.
"If I didn't know it was GoGo I would have said it was the Hybagon." Fred commented.
"The good thing is the fact that she wouldn't have to do this quite every month. By all accounts it is enough to keep people away." Wasabi added.
"The ones that don't know about this stuff anyways And how it works." Megan added.
"Sooo Emma we just now encountered Werewolves and Werecats or better said WereCheethas do you know any other species that could be now in San Fransokyo." Fred asked coming near the dhampir.
"Freddy maybe we should let her be for now. She surely is tired." Honey Lemon said seeing her already tired.
" 'yawn' I believe I can show you 2 others that close but we need to exit the forest and get to the coast."
"Well good thing that is not too far away. Since it is where I parked my car." Wasabi said while everyone started to move towards the exit of the forest and back to the road and across from the parking lot where they were they could see the calm Pacific coast. Hiro was by far the most glad he was out of the woods since the bugs were starting to gather the group immediately went across from where Wasabi's car was parked and Emma with a pair of binoculars looked into a certain direction, a small lagoon near the old lighthouse she stayed there till she spotted what she wanted to show.
"Right there near that rock." She said giving the binoculars to Honey Lemon first and saw 3 girls one black, another while with blond hair and another Asian swimming which confused her.
"I only see 3 girls swimming."
"Me too, and I don't want to disturb their privacy." Wasabi said.
"Look closely to the water." Emma said and the 2 take a look again much closely to the water and that is when it struck, one of the girls, the Asian one had a large tail with Safire scales while the white one had light blue and the black one red.
"Wait they are…." Wasabi started.
"Mermaids." Hiro said amazed.
"I can't believe it." Megan said she and Karmi had their vision to be much closer to the scene thanks to Baymax.
"The thing with them is that when in the water their tails appear while on dry land they get feet, however each of them carry a necklace, which allows them to either turn to human or mermaid form no matter what."
"Well this is something really new, by the way is it really possible for their songs to allure someone to them?"
"You mean the alluring song that the legend tells to drag sailor's to their deaths. Its use was forbidden by them for over 500 years and only that one was able to do it. It usually began like this Come to me into the sea the rest I don't know since it is a forbidden song. As for numbers they usually stay only at the coast, but the number could differ it could be up to 10 or 20 here."
"Well another supernatural creature for the supernatural library." Karmi said.
"What are you all doing?" GoGo came to know what they were doing.
"Just discovering some of our more unnatural citizens of our city." Fred said before Honey Lemon gave her a pair of binoculars to see the mermaids.
"And for the other one, look over there." Emma said pointing to a house near the water close to that lagoon and there was a woman in the her 30s watering the plants but what struck them was the thing coming out from her pink dress.
"That woman has a snake tail?"
"That one is called a Naga."
"Naga? They are originally from India according to legend they are tasked to guard treasures, been guardians of wealth." Karmi said.
"They do indeed and are generally helpful to people, however one thing is to know. They usually tend to be very lovable when meeting people that they like and who likes them back it likes to cuddle and also they are good gardeners and are very protective of people that are part of their family and circle of close friends. It is said that then they marry humans they sometimes like to hold them in their coils."
"Well, look how myths and legends become reality." Hiro said taking another look at the Naga and somehow felt a small chill.
"But between us I am not quite fond of been cuddled by a snake lady during the night."
"Count me out as well." Wasabi said.
"They don't squeeze people to death." Emma said.
"We know, but been wrapped in the coils of a snake's tail isn't something one founds comforting." Wasabi said.
"You know, one wonders how it will be if some of those supernatural creatures, one from every species forms a team like that of Big Hero 6." Karmi said.
"That's exactly how I thought there are so many possibilities; just imagine how it will be a team with a vampire or dhampir, a werewolf or werecat, a Naga, a mermaid and so on. It could be an interesting mix." Fred said.
"I rather prefer the present ones at the moment." Hiro said.
"Not the only one." Karmi commented.
"Ohh, but this idea could be something." Fred commented.
"Fred, remember what I said." Emma commented.
"They have to remain in the shadows and not provoke attention to be discovered to not provoke who knows what panic. So let's better leave it that way." Wasabi said.
"Totally agree." The team aside from GoGo who remained on her camping trip had each returned to their homes, Aunt Cass of course was worried where he nephew had been and luckily the others confirmed that they had helped GoGo to go for a camping trip this week-end and also helped her set up, which was enough for her to calm down while in Emma's case her relatives been knowledgeable of everything weren't worried about anything. The next day things returned to normal and GoGo had also returned from her small time in nature after enjoying the morning watching birds when she turned human again. In the afternoon she met with everyone at the Lucky Cat Café telling them that all things went fine and that the medallion lost its power for the moment.
"So from what we can deduce is that you had quite a night as a werecheetah." Fred said.
"It was quite fine in my view, besides I really did enjoyed it and worked out throughout the night in that form, till I exhausted the medallion."
"Yet you remember what Will said. About using the medallion and that you had to try to use it at least every 6 weeks." Emma said.
"I figured out how to do it and for the moment I can deal with it, since I do enjoy it." She said before Crushroom came with her order.
