Soon, the group arrived at Castle Greyskull.
"He-Man, we made it!" exclaimed Orko, but She-Ra shushed him.
"If I know Skeletor, and I do, then he's definitely here," said She-Ra. "Waiting for us..."
Man-at-Arms pondered on this. "You're right," he nodded. "It's too quiet."
"Look," whispered Thor, pointing to the woman who was trapped within the pillar of light. "It's the Sorceress."
"C'mon then," said Ram-Man. "Let's bust her out and find the other Masters."
With shared nods, the group approached the Sorceress' prison, making extra certain to not make any loud noises, and soon they were right in front of her.
"Hang in there, Sorceress," said Lionel. "We'll have you out in a jiffy."
He-Man tried to use the Power Sword to cut through the energy field, but it wouldn't budge. "By Eternia... Even my sword can't hack through this energy field!" he exclaimed.
The Sorceress opened her eyes. "Skeletor has imprisoned me within this energy field... Which only he can dissolve..." she replied.
Lionel blinked and cleaned out his ears. "Is it just me, or does her voice sound exactly like Princess Celestia's?" he asked.
"Heh... I thought that was just me." Atticus replied.
"You are in danger here," The Sorceress warned. "You must leave."
"We won't leave without you, Sorceress." Atticus replied.
"Gwildor, can your key open the door to this force field?" Thor soon asked.
"Of course." Gwildor nodded.
"Then do it now." He-Man then urged.
"It'll take time," replied Gwildor.
"Then let's get started." said Teela as she led Gwildor and Orko to the side.
"I have to take a reading and compute the gravitonic tones," said Gwildor as he pushed some buttons on the Cosmic Key.
"He's taking your power," realized He-Man.
Man-at-Arms looked over to the Sorceress. "How long... Until...?" he started.
"I can withstand Skeletor until moonrise...until the Great Eye opens on the universe," explained the Sorceress. "He's been draining my powers, little by little, but as long as he does not have all of it, there is still a chance of victory."
Suddenly, there was a loud noise heard from nearby. Teela's face paled. "...they're coming..." she realized.
"Orko, help Gwildor," instructed He-Man. Orko nodded and herded Teela and Gwildor behind a nearby structure as Skeletor's troopers filled the room, with Panthor, Skeletor, Evil-Lyn, Faker, Beast Man, Mer-Man, Clawful, Whiplash, and Twistoid.
The troopers stood in formation as Skeletor approached the center of the room. Despite his lack of facial flesh, a bony grin seemed to cross his face.
"Everything comes to he who waits..." he spoke. "And I have waited so very long for this moment."
He-Man glared. "Let her go," he told Skeletor.
"I don't think so," replied Skeletor casually. "As she remains trapped in that field, her powers increase my own; and when the moon reaches its zenith, the Great Eye will open and all the powers of Greyskull will be bestowed upon me, and your wondrous Sorceress shall die!"
"You dare threaten her life?!" Man-at-Arms cried out.
"I dare anything..." Skeletor scowled. "I am Skeletor. Throw down your weapons and pledge yourselves to me or you will join her."
"It's not her you want, it's me," He-Man told his sworn enemy. "It's always been between us."
"Silence!" Skeletor growled.
Evil-Lyn soon noticed something as she spotted Gwildor. "It's the locksmith. The little worm has another key!" she then informed.
"WHAT? No..." Skeletor barked. "Kill him!"
And so began another attack.
"Take cover, Gwildor!" He-Man warned their new friend. "Keep working!"
"Boy, I wouldn't give for a light-saber right now." Thor remarked to himself as he helped out his friends.
"You have a hammer... Which can change shape to any weapon you choose, depending on the situation," replied Lionel. "I think you'll be okay."
"Oh, yeah!" Thor smiled with a small laugh. "Forgot about that." he then used it to change into a light-saber like from Star Wars. "I got ya now, Bony Jim!" he then said with a gruff Scottish voice.
Lionel blinked in confusion. "...Sometimes, you baffle me..." he remarked.
Gwildor soon did his own work as everyone else did their part against Skeletor's army.
"At least this isn't as hard as I thought it would be." Sabrina said to herself.
"Let's hope we can make it outta this joint." remarked Ram-Man.
Skeletor continued to watch them from afar.
"Lazy villain." Cherry mumbled.
"Gwildor, can that thing get us out of here?" Mo asked the locksmith/inventor as he was hard at work.
"It will!" Gwildor nodded to her. "But where?"
"Anywhere!" Mo suggested. "Just do it fast!"
"I have to agree with that short-haired girl." Man-at-Arms agreed.
"Yes, yes." Gwildor said while using his invention.
"It's been fun, bone-face," said Lionel. "But we gotta be going! Where will we go? You'll never know! See you around, it's the end of the show!"
As he said this, Gwlidor and Orko managed to activate the Cosmic Key, generating a dimensional portal in the main room. The group of heroes soon began to disappear in a large beam of light.
"Find them. Trace them!" Skeletor scowled from that. "I want them and the Key hunted down and brought to me."
"It looked as if he was punching the keys at random," Evil-Lyn stated simply. "There's no way to tell where they went."
"Monitor the frequencies!" Skeletor replied. "Wherever they are, they'll use it again. When they do, lock it in. He-Man lives and possesses that Key. I must possess all, or I possess nothing! Find them, especially those meddling friends of his from another living realm."
Meanwhile, in a small field on Earth, the Cosmic Key's portal crackled with energy as He-Man, She-Ra and their friends tumbled out onto the ground, with Lionel keeping Cherry from falling into a muddy area. Gwildor, however, landed headfirst in the mud.
"Ugh... I feel like my bottom's on backward..." Cherry let out a small groan.
"Yeah, me too." Atticus added.
"Are we safe though?" Sabrina wondered.
He-Man soon went to help Gwildor out from the mud as Teela and Man-at-Arms chuckled a little. "Are you alright?" he then asked the inventor.
Gwildor soon shook himself a bit like a dog from the cold mud.
"Trust a Thenarian to find someplace to land." Teela joked as she and the others came over.
Gwildor coughed as he sat up. "Thank you... I could've suffocated in that loathsome stuff." he remarked.
"Quit complaining," said Teela. "It's only mud."
"Easy to say when you don't have clogged gill slits." replied Gwildor.
"Maybe you should blow your... Uh... Nose?" Atticus suggested.
Gwildor did something like that which left a bit of a mess from his ears.
"Gwildor, we must get back to Eternia." He-Man advised.
"If you're through clearing your gill slits, maybe you can tell us where we are?" Man-at-Arms added.
"We could be anywhere," Gwildor replied as he didn't seem to know. "Any planet in the galaxy. Any planet in a thousand galaxies. I had no time to renominalize my coordinates.
"Could this be... Earth?" Thor wondered based on his surroundings.
"Perhaps," replied Lionel. "But it's another Earth... More specifically, the 1980's Earth."
"What makes you say it's the 80's, man?" Thor asked before randomly laughing at his attempt from the slang.
"Because that's when this movie was made." replied Lionel.
"Ohh..." Thor said with his tongue out in a goofy fashion.
"Okay, uh, Gwildor, how do we get back home?" Cherry soon asked.
"He doesn't even know where we are," Atticus defended. "Aside from Earth in the 1980's."
"I'm not a Torktum, you know," Gwildor added before taking his invention. "I wouldn't build a device that didn't store its home coordinates. All we have to do is punch the energizer switch, and-" he then noticed something very wrong. "Where is the Key?"
"It's gone!" Sabrina gasped.
"Guess we need to look for it." Ram-Man replied.
"Perimeter search," said She-Ra. "Each of us will take a sector."
Suddenly, they heard a rustling in the bushes.
"Intruder!" Thor gasped.
He-Man shushed him and the others before gesturing quietly so that they could check out what it was without bringing out unnecessary attention. They came around the bushes and looked around cautiously.
"Scan the area, Man-at-Arms." She-Ra advised.
Man-at-Arms brought out some sort of tracker to see what it was. "Alien lifeform," he then told the others. "Big."
"Let's shoot it." Teela suggested.
"Wait," He-Man stopped her. "It might be intelligent life."
The branches rustled as a cow stepped out of the woods.
"By the Sorceress, it's ugly..." Teela remarked.
"Seems pretty harmless," replied Orko.
"Unless you're lactose-intolerant." added Lionel.
The cow mooed.
"What a hideous cry," said Gwildor. "Maybe I can communicate with the poor creature."
"Uh, guys...?" Thor spoke up at first.
Gwildor soon tried to moo back at the cow to talk with it.
"Gwildor, I don't think that's gonna work," Thor said. "It's a cow. They're good for hamburgers and milk for my Frosted Flakes."
"He-Man, I show 0.84 chromons until moonrise on Eternia," said Man-at-Arms, showing him a device. "We'd better find the key, and fast."
"What's your plan?" asked She-Ra.
"When we find the key, Gwildor will set the coordinates for Greyskull," explained He-Man. "We'll use the element of surprise."
"Oh, sure; we'll drop right into the throne room, fight off 2 or 3000 of Skeletor's crack troops, break into the forcefield, and free the Sorceress." Man-at-Arms remarked sarcastically.
"Right," said He-Man as he felt a sudden rush of dizziness and clutched his head.
"He-Man... Are you alright?" She-Ra asked in concern.
He-Man panted in mild exhaustion. "F-Fine, Sister; it's just that I've never remained in this form for this long." he replied.
"What's wrong with you?" Cherry asked He-Man with an eyebrow raise.
"The Sorceress' powers are being drained... And since both her power and my own come from Castle Greyskull..." explained He-Man; but before he could finish, an orange glow surrounded him, and he was back to being the scruffy-haired teenager Prince Adam. "Then I'm not exactly able to keep my transformation stable."
"Hmm..." Atticus replied. "Very curious, but at least now you're conspicuous."
"Sure," nodded Lionel. "The only problem will be explaining just how exactly Prince Adam managed to get all the way here."
"Yeah, that's another thing." Atticus agreed.
"Perhaps I should change myself too." She-Ra suggested.
"Then it would just make it harder to explain how you got here as Adora." added Thor.
"Ugh... I feel like I'm with Cath right now with her logic..." Cherry sighed a bit. "How are we gonna pull this off?"
"We could say I somehow teleported them here and disguised them to blend in," shrugged Lionel. "Just saying."
"Okay, that works, I'm not picky," Cherry replied. "I'm just a little low on ideas myself right now."
"Sorry..." Lionel shrugged. "I could say the same for myself..."
"Don't worry, we'll think of something eventually." Atticus assured them both.
"Moo... Moo? Moo!" Gwildor continued to the cow.
"Gwildor, please, I don't think that's gonna work," Thor replied. "Let's just find someplace to go while blending in to the decade of weird fashion choices, pretty epic movies, and killer music with educational cartoons."
"Aunt Vesta always told me that the 80's were the best decade in every century." Sabrina shrugged to herself.
And so the group headed off towards civilization.
"I dunno about you guys, but I am hun-gry," Thor commented. "There's gotta be someplace to eat around here."
"I'm sure we can find something like a McDonald's." Cherry replied.
"Or maybe a Wendy's..." Lionel added as his stomach roared like a stock grizzly bear.
"Hm..." Thor hid a small smirk. "Your stomach sounds like mine at Thanksgiving."
"Hopefully something comes up..." Cherry said, nearly tripping and stumbled against Man-at-Arms.
The man sharply turned to her with his sword, but stopped himself from hurting her once he saw that it was her. "Don't scare me like that." he told her.
"S-Sorry." Cherry replied.
"I think I see one of those Wendy's places over there." said Orko, pointing at a small building near a curb.
"As long as we have money, we'll be okay," said Lionel. "Though I imagine that the rest of you will need more... Contemporary clothing so that you don't draw attention to yourselves."
The rest of the group soon looked to each other from their clothing.
"I better handle this..." Atticus said as he decided to use his magic to give everyone more appropriate and modern clothes, though due to this being the 1980's, they had the clothes to fit the time period. "Huh... I thought it'd give them clothes from the 2000's... Ah, well, it still worked."
"Probably your magic affected with the time period we're in." Cherry guessed.
"At least it worked." Atticus shrugged with a small smile.
"Less talky, more munchy." Lionel groaned as they went inside and got in line to place their orders.
Everyone just looked wore out and hungry from what they had been through lately.
Soon after, they ordered several burgers, a salad, and nuggets, and sat down.
"That travel must've worn us out or something," Thor said, flexing his right arm before it seemed to growl like a stomach. "My muscles are growling."
"Well, we did have a lot to worry about with Skeletor's army." Cherry replied.
"Yeah... And knowing Mr. Bonehead, he's not gonna stop until he finds us." Lionel added as he ate his burgers.
"Let's hope it's not too soon." Mo said, adjusting her salad before getting ready to eat it.
Adam and the others looked very curious of the food as it was unlike anything they had seen before.
"Go ahead, it won't kill ya," urged Lionel as he drank his chocolate Frosty. "Plus it's tasty~!"
"Jooooin us~..." Cherry added as she took her vanilla Frosty. "Man, I wish they had a strawberry one of these."
"Well... When in Rome, right, guys?" Thor smiled.
Adam and the others looked at each other and began to eat with them and soon found that they enjoyed the food very much.
Nearby behind the counter, two girls were talking.
"I never thought I'd feel sad about doing this for the last time," sighed Julie Winston as she finished taking someone's order.
Her friend Monica chuckled. "Don't worry, Julie; they have Wendy's in New Jersey, too." she replied.
"Thanks a lot." Julie replied.
"I got a going-away present for you, but it isn't wrapped." Monica then began.
"You didn't have to do that." Julie replied.
"It isn't even in a box," Monica began to tell her friend. "It's a piece of advice, and I pray to God you listen to it."
Julie nodded to show that she was listening.
"If you break-up with Kevin Corrigan, you will regret it for the rest of your life." Monica advised.
Julie rolled her eyes. "Monica, this is not the 7th grade anymore; Kevin's changed, I've changed... Everything's different now."
"Fine, except for two things," replied Monica. "A: you still love him, and B: he still loves you."
Julie was changing out of her work uniform. "Kevin doesn't need me or my problems right now. I just feel if I stayed..."
"Julie, I know it's hard right now, but you don't have to move away." said Monica. "
"Yes, I do." Julie nodded with insistence.
"Your folks would have wanted you to stay." Monica replied.
"The best thing for me to do right now is to get 3,000 miles away from Kevin, my house, this town and everything, and just start out fresh." Julie said.
Soon, they heard the honking of a car horn.
"That's Kevin." Julie said as that signaled her.
"I'm gonna miss you." Monica cooed before hugging her friend.
Julie left the Wendy's and climbed into Kevin's van.
"So, uh... What time's your bus to the airport?" asked Kevin.
"8:30." said Julie.
Kevin sighed. "Oh, great. So you can make my sound check, right?" he asked.
Julie grinned. "Yes, I'll make your sound check." she replied.
"Alright." Kevin chuckled.
"I brought us dinner." Julie then said, bringing out a bag.
"Oh, boy, Wendy's." Kevin replied, taking the bag.
"I thought it was something different for a change." Julie smiled sheepishly.
"Yeah, well, it's not very romantic for our last date," Kevin said before they shared a chuckle. "Look, Julie, why don't you take a later flight-"
"Kevin, don't start that again," Julie sighed. "We decided."
"Okay." Kevin said with defeat.
Kevin soon started up the van and drove away from Wendy's.
"Kevin, I'd like to go to the cemetery to say goodbye to my parents," said Julie.
"Yeah... Sure." replied Kevin.
Meanwhile, the group continued to eat until they were about done.
"So, how's the food?" Atticus smiled.
"Not bad actually," She-Ra had to admit. "I really like these, how you call them, Frosties."
"Yeah, these are alright," nodded Lionel. "This is the second time I've had one."
"Good food." said Man-at-Arms as he ate.
"Yes, I've never had anything like it." agreed Orko.
Ram-Man nodded at that as he helped himself to the nuggets.
Thor smiled happily all around.
"You're just glad to share a meal with friends, aren't you?" Atticus smirked.
"...Maybe." Thor smirked back.
"It is pretty cool." agreed Sabrina as Teela got to her feet.
"I think we've wasted enough time," Teela soon said. "We'd better get back to our sectors."
"Aww..." Thor pouted like a little kid.
"We're nourished, so we must move forward." Teela insisted.
"We're coming," Atticus replied. "Though I don't think you have too much to worry about in this world."
"Apart from some culture shock?" shrugged Lionel. "Not much."
Meanwhile, Julie and Kevin were at the town cemetery; more specifically, at her parents' graves.
"I never told anyone this before... But it's my fault they died..." Julie said sadly.
"Julie, come on," Kevin told her. "It was a plane crash. Those things just happen."
"You don't understand," Julie said emotionally. "We were all supposed to go to the beach that day, but I said I had to study because
I wanted to spend the day with you. So they took the plane to Catalina instead."
"Come on..." Kevin said as he came to wrap his arms around her. "Your mom and dad wouldn't want you to blame yourself all the rest of your life. Would they?"
Julie sighed softly. "No."
The two of them hugged.
"God, I wish..." said Julie. "I wish I could change things."
"But you can't," replied Kevin as they walked away. "That only happens in fairy tales."
The two began to walk from the cemetery until Julie heard a beeping sound which caught her attention. Turns out that it was Gwildor's missing key.
"What is that?" Julie wondered as she reached out for the device.
"Julie, be careful!" Kevin warned.
"But, Kev, look at this thing."
"Whoa... That is incredible. What is it?"
"I don't know. Someone must have dropped it."
"Dropped it, are you kidding?" Kevin replied with amazement. "Look at the size of that hole! It's like it fell out of the sky or something."
The both of them yelped as the Cosmic Key flashed and beeped.
"This is one of those new Japanese synthesizers," said Kevin. "Here, lemme try it."
"Okay." said Julie as she gave it to Kevin.
This could only spell trouble for the two mortals.
Kevin took a hold of the key as it made a sound which made them both laugh. "Listen to this! This is hot!" he then said to her.
The key seemed to play musical beats for them.
"We've got to turn this in to the caretaker." Julie suggested.
"No way, come on, are you kidding?" Kevin replied as he kept playing with the device. "He'd just keep this for himself."
Julie watched on, unsure if this was a good idea.
Meanwhile, at Castle Greyskull...
Skeletor angrily shuffled while on his throne, feeling impatient.
"The Cosmic Key has been activated," announced Evil-Lyn. "We have a bearing on them."
Skeletor looked curious. "...How accurate?" he asked.
"Within a parsec eon." replied Evil-Lyn.
"The next time they use the Key, lock in the source and open a doorway." Skeletor soon said.
"Shall I prepare a full battalion?" Evil-Lyn offered.
"No. It may be a trap," Skeletor shook his head. "We'll send an advance group. Assemble the mercenaries."
Evil-Lyn nodded from that.
"Have faith, Sorceress," Skeletor said with an evil smile and chuckle. "You won't be lonely long."
Meanwhile, Adam and Adora made sure to keep their steps as quiet as they could as they continued their trek.
