"You did what?!" exclaimed Phineas.
He and Candace were both outside D.E.I., where Candace finally told Phineas what she had caused with his friends.
"They were suspicious of me!" exclaimed Candace. "I couldn't convince them everything was okay! And then Buford called me, and I mean Candace, a 'psychotic chick'! That's when things went wrong..."
"Wrong how?" Phineas demanded to know.
Candace fidgeted with her/"Phineas'" fingers. "Well, I kinda shoved him down, and then Buford grabbed me, asking for a challenge. Isabella tried to break us up, but, I, kinda, maybe, sorta, struck her instead." She grinned sheepishly. "Not to mention giving her a black eye?"
Phineas became horrified when he heard that. "You smacked Isabella and gave her a black eye?!"
"It was an accident! I meant to hit Buford!" complained Candace.
But that only made Phineas even more upset. "Oh, well that's very helpful!" He said sarcastically, and paced.
"Oh! And another thing?" Candace added.
"What?" snapped Phineas.
Candace flinched, now frightened by her brother's temper. "It seems like I, also, finally got my summer-long goal to bust you with Mom…" she blushed.
Phineas went dumbfounded for a second, and then dropped his/"Candace's" jaw. "What?!"
"But the good news is, you're not busted for your inventions! But for Isabella's black eye, and your odd behavior!"
"Why would you do that?!"
"I don't know! I-I couldn't help myself!" Candace studied the betrayed look of her brother's - or rather her own - face, and hastily tried to apologize. "I'm so sorry, Phineas! I never meant to cause any of this-"
Still, Phineas wouldn't accept any of this, and put on an angry smile. "That's. Great!" He hissed. "That's great, because now Ferb and all our friends are gonna hate me for this! No wonder why I banned you from coming near me again!"
"Maybe it's not too late?" Candace suggested.
But Phineas refused to listen. "Of course, it's too late! You get into a fight with Buford, you hit Isabella and give her a black eye, and you finally get me in trouble with Mom! This should all make you happy now!"
"No! I-" Candace cut herself off. She decided to stick to their main problem and put their new disagreement on hold for a while. "M-maybe we should focus on switching back?"
Phineas pulled himself together, and agreed. "You're right, Candace. We've gotta concentrate on the riddle in those scrolls. So, what exactly did it say?"
"Like I remember?"
"Well, I don't remember either."
"Well, I hate this!" Candace paused.
"So do I! It's very-"
"I meant everything I've ever done to you and Ferb!" Candace cut him off.
Phineas went silent. He turned to her, realizing that she wasn't really talking about the body switch.
Candace began to sulk. "And it was all because of your tree accident in the first place! Getting you busted, didn't make me feel good, at all. It was the biggest mistake I've ever made. I'm the one who should be busted for trying to bust you and Ferb."
Hearing her say that made Phineas taken aback. "Candace," he said, softly. "You don't mean that…?"
She nodded, sadly. "Yes, I do. I have to admit, your inventions truly aren't as bad as I thought they were. Your creativity is one of the best things about you and Ferb ever, Phineas." Candace sniffled, on the verge of tears. "You can do anything. That's why I've always been secretly proud to be your older sister. I'm just so ashamed of myself, right now. I can't believe you and Ferb both share this incredible creativity gift, even after all those horrible things I said about you. After being such a horrible sister for the past years. Now, I want more than anything to fix this for you and Ferb. What have I done? What have I done?!"
Candace began to cry, as tears poured down her/"Phineas'" face like a fountain.
Phineas showed some empathy for his sister. Gosh, he thought to himself. Does Candace really mean it? Is she really sorry for everything? Was I really that blind with her own thoughts? I wasn't too hard on her yesterday, was I? Maybe I was. Feeling sorry for Candace, he knelt down in his sister's body, and gently pulled her closer for a comforting hug.
Candace buried her face in Phineas'/or rather her own chest, sobbing.
"It's okay, Candace. I know, it's a hard day for us," Phineas said, softly. He patted Candace on the back. "Just breathe. Deep breath. We'll go home, we'll find those scrolls, and I promise you everything's gonna be just fine."
"How?" weeped Candace.
"We'll just reread that riddle in those scrolls, and do whatever it says in order to switch back."
"Phineas?" Candace looked back up at him. "Do you think we'll ever be able to switch back?"
"Of course we will, Candace," Phineas assured her, positively. "Until then, we're still gonna have to continue to get through this together. Okay?"
Candace pulled herself together. She wiped her tears away, and put on a determined look while nodding. "Okay."
Just then, Phineas' flip phone buzzed in Candace's pocket, startling her.
"Oh, let me see that!" Phineas said.
"Well, at least I don't really have that much use for mine to tell Mom what you're up to, today," she stated, as she pulled the phone out of her pocket.
Phineas just ignored her as he took his phone, and looked at it. "It's Ferb: 'Phineas, when will you be back? Mom's asking to check on you, and should I postpone everything for today, and give all of Danville notice?'"
"Oh, right!" Candace remembered. "I asked Ferb to cover for me before sneaking out for this!"
Just then, Phineas gasped. "Oh, I completely forgot!"
"What?"
"Ferb and I already announced our plans for this summer to the whole town!" exclaimed Phineas. "We can't cancel, now!"
"So, what are you gonna do?" asked Candace.
"What are you gonna do, is the question, now," Phineas told her.
Candace rolled her eyes in dismay. "Right. My bad."
"Okay," Phineas handed his phone back to Candace. "Here's what you're gonna tell Ferb…"
Candace readied to text what Phineas was going to tell her to write back to Ferb.
"No. Don't postpone. I need you to make wax figures of us to keep Mom distracted. We're going on with the plans."
Candace typed all that down. "Wax figures, distract Mom, and go on with the plans. And… send!" She sent the message to Ferb. Then, she announced, "No matter how dangerous your crazy inventions are gonna be, I'll still go on with them for you, Phineas! You can count on me, this time!"
"Oh, and before I forget," Phineas remembered something else, "now, I can finally tell Buford I know exactly why Little Suzy Johnson gives him the willies."
Candace blinked, surprised.
Phineas nodded. "You were right about Suzy. She is evil."
"I told you so!" Candace told him, agitated.
"Well, now all that's about to change for good. 'Cause I'm gonna make sure Suzy never causes any more trouble with you, Buford, or anyone else ever again," Phineas said, winking.
That made Candace smile. "And how exactly do you want me to make it up to Ferb and everyone? For Isabella, I'll be sure to make it perfect and most heartwarming for you two ever. I'll bet you she's devastated now, since-" Candace immediately stopped when she saw Phineas' confused expression. "I… mean… however you want me to make it up to Isabella, you name it."
"Why?" asked Phineas. "Is there something about Isabella, you know, that I don't know?"
Umm… yes. Isabella has a huge crush on you, Candace hesitated if she should say it. But, she probably shouldn't be talking about another person's feelings for someone else. She worried that might be tattling on Isabella.
"No. No I don't," she bluffed.
Phineas stared for a moment. Then, he casually said, "Okay, then." He thought for a few moments, and then snapped his/"Candace's" fingers with a smile. "Of course! I did promise Isabella something last year…"
Perry watched as Dr. Doofenshmirtz tried to make amends with Vanessa.
"I know, I haven't always been the greatest dad ever," stated Dr. Doofenshmirtz. "I guess I was just so carried away on doing anything for you, because... I haven't always had the best times in my youth." He noticed Perry frowning at him. "Okay, I've never had any best times in my youth!"
But Vanessa shook her head. "No, not always."
Dr. Doofenshmirtz looked surprised. "Really?"
"I mean," Vanessa said, "you kept throwing all those silly parties for my birthday, you traveled half-way around the world, you performed a rap song in front of my friends, you never stopped looking for a Mary McGuffin doll… and you did it all for me."
Dr. Doofenshmirtz seemed touched by Vanessa's remark. "But, of course. You're my little girl." He caught himself. "I-I mean, daughter! Because you are my daughter." He sighed. "I was just trying to be a good father to you."
Vanessa smiled. "I know."
"Not So Bad A Dad"
(Vanessa)
"You were a sub-standard dad,
But the only one I had,
I grew up hearing your evil scheming down the hall,
But when I look at this thing,
It makes me wanna sing,
Maybe you're not so bad a dad after all,
At my first ever swim meet,
You stepped on the other team's feet,
At my recital you clapped louder than you should,
But when you taught me how to drive,
We actually made it home alive,
I guess it's possible not every part of you isn't good,
I know at times I would cringe,
Like when you wore all that fringe,
And when you went out of your way to catch that foul ball,
(background booing)
But this piece of plastic in my hand,
Makes me finally understand,
Maybe you're not so bad a dad,
Not so bad a dad after all…"
Vanessa warmly embraced her father. "I forgive you, Dad," she told him.
"Aww!" Dr. Doofenshmirtz crooned, with tears in his eyes.
Perry watched the two in admiration.
The two parted from each other.
After a moment of silence, Vanessa was the first to speak. "So… what are you gonna do, now?"
"I don't know," Dr. Doofenshmirtz said. "Just as long as it doesn't involve anything evil."
Perry thought for a moment, as well. Then, he decided to remain focused on the reason he was here. So he walked over and pointed at the Brain-Switch Inator.
"Hmm?" Dr. Doofenshmirtz noticed Perry. "Yes, I know, Perry the Platypus. You want me to switch those two kids back. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do about it, now"
"Didn't you say that it needed some kind of scrolls to make it work?" asked Vanessa.
"Well, yes, it did," said Dr. Doofenshmirtz. "But your friends said they had already found them. I guess... now that we all know the Brain-Switch Inator works, and has already targeted those kids... I'm afraid it's all up to them now. They're going to have to fix their problem on their own."
Both Perry and Vanessa gave a look of concern.
"I sure hope they do," said Vanessa. "Come on. Let's go have fun with no evil involved." She turned at Perry. "You can come too, Perry."
Perry smiled, accepting the invite, and followed the two out of the penthouse.
"You know, Perry the Platypus," Dr. Doofenshmirtz said to Perry, as the trio walked out. "I think we'd make pretty good bowling buddies. Wouldn't you agree?"
Perry gave that some thought. Then, he nodded in agreement, and smiled at his nemesis.
Isabella was resting on her bed with a rather gloomy look on her face. She still had her ice patch covering her black eye.
Just then, a knock came on her window.
Isabella didn't even bother to look and see who it was. She knew it was probably Phineas, who had now gone looney today for reasons unknown, begging for forgiveness.
"Go away, Phineas!" She simply said.
The knock came again.
Groaning, Isabella got up from bed, and opened the window. "I said go away-" She started to blurt out.
But then, she stopped. To her surprise, it wasn't Phineas who was outside her window at all.
It was a white unicorn with a baby pink horn.
"Oh!" Isabella said, surprised.
The unicorn greeted Isabella with a cheerful whinny.
"Where did you come from, little guy?" Isabella asked. She studied the unicorn, and stroked its muzzle.
Whinnying again, the unicorn motioned down to the pink collar it was wearing around its neck. Instead of a name tag, was a note clipped on.
"What's this?" Isabella took the note, and unfolded it to read it:
I'm sorry, Isabella. Really, I am. Will you please forgive me? Please?
When she finished reading the note, Isabella looked back up to see "Phineas" and Ferb come from the corner of her house.
"Please?" asked Candace.
Isabella stared for a moment. Then, she took a glance back at the unicorn. Finally, she smiled a little. "Well, I will say that this is my very first unicorn. Unlike that rainbow you created last year… which was still beautiful."
Candace smiled back.
"So, what's its name?" asked Isabella, as she stroked the unicorn's muzzle.
"Ferb and I have decided to let you name him," Candace responded.
Isabella thought for a moment. She noticed a sparkling gleam in the unicorn's eyes. Then, it struck her. "I've got it! Sparkles! Because her eyes are so sparkly!"
Candace nodded her/"Phineas'" head. "Sparkles. I like that. It's actually a pretty good name for a unicorn. So… does this mean we're cool?"
Isabella smiled and nodded her head. "We're cool."
Candace smiled in relief. "Perfect! Let's go!" She swung her/"Phineas'" arm, and started to leave.
"Where?" asked Isabella.
"To get on with the rest of our schedule for the day. You didn't think I'd just cancel everything now, did you?"
"Oh, no," Isabella shook her head.
"Then, let's go!" Candace repeated, and headed off.
Confused, Isabella glanced at Ferb.
Ferb just shrugged, indicating he had no clue on why "Phineas" suddenly wanted to turn over a new leaf.
They decided to shrug it off, and followed Candace down the road.
