When the three woke up, they found themselves in a strange state of mind where an older blonde girl was shown to be with five beings who were all different colors of red, green, yellow, blue, and purple.
"Where are we?" Chrissy asked.
"This is The State of the Mind," The blonde girl smiled a bit. "It's good to meet you guys. I've heard so much about you."
"Who are you?" asked LJ. "For that matter, how do you know about us?"
"Well, I'm Riley," The blonde girl replied. "Uh, Anderson, not Daring."
"Riley Anderson?" LJ repeated. "Ohh! You're Uncle Atticus's older niece from his sister Jessica."
"That's right, and I'm an emotion-bender," Riley replied before gesturing to the five beings beside her. "And these are my emotions: Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust."
"Nice to meet you all," Kimberly waved. "We're going to the subconscious to find out why we acted so strangely today."
"Please, allow us to direct you there." Riley replied.
"I'll help!" Joy beamed as she jumped out happily. "I know a lot about this place, right, Riley?"
"Joy, we're going to let the others have a chance to help out too like Sadness." Riley told her yellow emotion.
"Well, okay," Joy replied. "Come on, guys!"
"Yaaay." Disgust and Anger muttered.
"Gotta love that enthusiasm." Kimberly nearly deadpanned.
Riley took them up to an elevator which then shot them up to go to a special place called The State of Mind which looked like a typical business office of some sorts.
"Whoa, get a load of this crazy place..." Chrissy remarked as she looked around at the office-like room.
"All right, now this place should have files on what's been going on through your minds even if you don't seem to remember what happened before Akito and Emi found you guys." Riley said as she went with her emotions to get to work.
"So... You can talk to emotions...?" Chrissy asked the blonde girl.
"Oh, yes, that's a pretty long and complicated story that started sometime after I turned 13," Riley replied. "Oh, hey, guys." she then looked over to see other colored beings who seemed to be living emotions like Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust.
There seemed to be 22 other emotions who looked over to come by to help out the main emotions.
"But basically, emotion-bending is when I can control other people's emotions," Riley then continued. "On the night before my 13th birthday, I woke up and had this really strange dream, and I found myself in Headquarters which Joy told me about and she introduced me to herself and the others. It's a very rare ability, but somehow, I'm able to talk to them, and I usually hang out here to help out other people in their subconscious. I know it sounds crazy, made up, or even dumb, but I think it's kinda cool. They also told me about how Uncle Atticus was able to go inside my head along with his friends before he came to help me when we moved away from my favorite home of Minnesota and I ended up in San Francisco. I was also able to see my old imaginary friend Bing Bong again, but I thought he could use a new home. It was sad, but we both agreed. Luckily we found a great place to send him that Uncle Atticus mentioned called Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends."
"Oh... Cool," said LJ. "Guess we need to find our files, right?"
"Yeah, they should be around here somewhere," Riley replied. "Uh, could I get your full names?"
"Lionel Schwartz Jr." LJ replied.
"Kimberly Lodoza." Kimberly added.
"Um..." Chrissy paused. "Christine Damon-Dazzle-Blaze-Dusk."
"Wow, that's a longer name that legend of the very first, long-lost Powerpuff Girl before she got sent to Neptune on the way back to her 'home planet'." Riley commented.
"Oh. Sure." LJ shrugged as they leafed through the files.
"Found mine!" Kimberly piped up.
"Mine too," Chrissy added.
"...Got mine." LJ finished.
"All right, let's see what was going on," Riley said. "Who wants to go first?"
"The best goes first." Chrissy replied.
Kimberly hid an eye roll from that, but at least Chrissy wasn't a pain, unlike most girls who had a personality like hers. Chrissy soon opened up her file to see what looked like a bubble fly out which began to show what happened earlier today that would make her, LJ, and Kimberly look like vandals.
It showed LJ in the elevator with Genevieve, who changed into Despara. "Finally, I can drop that disguise..." she groaned as she looked at LJ. "And now... What to do with you...?"
LJ continued to stand there, in a trance.
"Hmm... I guess I could alter you up a bit..." Despara pondered to herself. "I could get you into trouble so you'll have nowhere else to go."
"Trouble... No place to go..." LJ muttered in a trance.
"Yeeeahh..." Despara smirked. "We should show them that you can be rotten to the core."
LJ gave a dizzy smile. "Rotten... To the core..." he muttered. "What... About... Friends...?"
"Friends?" Despara asked.
"Yeah... I should... Do stuff with... My friends..." LJ replied. "Like Kimberly and Chrissy..."
"Hmm..." Despara paused. "This might be harder than I thought."
"Want... To have... Fun... With friends..." LJ responded.
"Friends... Who'd wanna be my friend?" Despara replied with a small sigh.
"This is kinda sad." Riley commented which made Sadness glow a bit.
"I... Thought... We were friends..." said LJ, sounding confused.
"...Right," Despara replied. "Anyways... You and your girlfriends are gonna be evil as you can be."
LJ nodded, before it changed to show footage of LJ, Chrissy, and Kimberly's dreams they had earlier.
"It's my picnic dream..." LJ said.
"It looks pretty cute." Kimberly smiled to him.
Of course, they soon saw LJ being restrained by them and hypnotized by Maleficent.
"Is that us doing that?" asked Chrissy. "Granted, I look sort of hot in that dream, but I'd never restrain LJ!"
"I don't know," Kimberly replied. "It might be illusions. Riley, do you know for sure?"
"Hmm... Let me take a closer look..." Riley said as she went to do what she was taught to do from Joy.
"Gosh! That looks quite scary!" Fear commented.
"Ah, suck it up, Plum Nose!" Anger rolled his eyes.
"So... What's the verdict?" asked Disgust.
"Hmm... It seems that these are Chrissy and Kimberly-" Riley began.
"No way!" Chrissy cried out in dismay. "Why would I do something like this?!"
"You were manipulated in your own dreams by a strong force that visits dreams," Riley replied. "Such as a Dream Walker, a worker from Dream Studios which is like the movie capitol of the world of Hollywood, or maybe even The Boogeyman who specializes in a substance known as Nightmare Fuel."
"Boogeyman?" asked LJ. "But we beat that guy when we were just kids! So then it must've been that Despara girl!"
"I don't know this Despara girl well, but she seems quite untrustworthy." Riley cautioned.
"Not only that," said LJ. "But that freaky nightmare must've unleashed our bad sides into our subconscious, giving them life and allowing them to temporarily take control."
"This is remarkable..." Riley commented.
"I kinda like it." A doomy and gloomy-looking emotion smirked.
"You would, Mr. Gloom." Anger rolled his eyes.
"Ooh, this is bad!" Fear panicked, glowing brightly as Riley tried to keep calm, but since he was glowing, it meant that she felt scared now. "This is very bad! We gotta! We gotta! We gotta do something!"
"GUYS! CHILL!" Kimberly shouted. "Maybe we can find our other selves, and try to reason with them."
"It's a 50:50 shot," said Chrissy. "But it's the best one we have."
"I like those odds." said LJ.
"I'll have to work into this a little," Riley said. "Joy, we should get to Headquarters."
"Oh, yay!~" Joy beamed from that. "I thought you'd might like to come by there. I mean, I have loads of ideas and plans to help out in any situation."
"How about the current one?" Disgust deadpanned.
"I... Uh... I guess we could brainstorm?" Joy grinned sheepishly.
"That works," replied another emotion, Indifference, with a shrug. "I guess..."
"There sure are a lot more emotions than I thought." Kimberly commented.
"Mm-hmm~..." A cute pink emotion who looked very young nodded.
"Aww... And who are you?" Kimberly smiled.
"My name's Passion." The emotion girl smiled back.
"Passion, you shouldn't be here," Disgust told the young emotion. "This is for grown-up emotions. You should be back in Child-Like Wonder Island with the others."
"Oh, you mean like with Nostalgia who has a filter on her goggles?" Passion replied. "I'm sorry... I got bored waiting for you and Daddy."
LJ snickered a little at that.
"Go back, Passion, you're not old enough to be in Headquarters yet." Disgust pointed sharply.
"Aw, man!" The emotion girl pouted and walked off.
"Well...that was fun," said Kimberly.
Chrissy did a double-take. "Guys? Do the mirrors here usually have reflections that look different from your usual looks?" she asked.
"No, why?" Riley replied.
"I think we're busted." Chrissy then said.
Everyone soon turned around to see evil-looking doppelgängers of Chrissy and Kimberly.
"This is bad! This is really bad!" Fear panicked. "Someone's after us!"
"Let's get 'em!" LJ replied as he took out a rope and lassoed them both. "Now to find the bad me!"
"You rang?" asked LJ's doppelgänger, who emerged from the shadows.
"I'll get this one!" Kimberly said, shooting laser lassos to rope him up with like what LJ did.
LJ's double kept dodging and moved out of the way with a smirk.
"Oh, he's clever." Kimberly glared from that.
Chrissy soon took a deep breath and let out a Sonic Scream to make LJ's double stop moving around so that they could get a hold of him.
"YEOWCH!" LJ's double screamed, dropping to the ground. "Okay, I give up! Just make it stop!"
Kimberly shot out her rainbow lasso and wrapped it around LJ's doppelgänger.
"Alright, Bogus," said LJ. "What's the big idea using my body to wreak havoc?"
"Because, you should accept your true destiny." LJ's double smirked.
"I don't believe in destiny," said LJ. "And if you really WERE anything like me, you'd know turning evil is our worst nightmare. Because then... We'd be no better than Mandy."
"Come now... There must be something you want..." LJ's double replied. "Haven't you heard the old saying that it feels so good to be bad."
"The actual Devil tried that with my mother and there's no way I'm doing that." LJ glared at him.
"Besides, sure being bad is fun, but it's fun at the expense of others," said Kimberly. "And anything at someone else's expense isn't worth getting."
"Oh, you'll give in," LJ's double smirked. "Even if it takes the whole two weeks."
"Yeah, well, you can tell Maleficent or whoever you're working for that it's not gonna happen, so nyah-nyah!" LJ said, reminiscent of his father. "And besides... This is MY BRAIN! I'm in control! I'd NEVER wanna be evil, EVER! Because what good is all that power if my family hates what I become?" he added. "You may be me, but you're not the me I want to be."
"I'm afraid that you'll give in eventually," LJ's double smirked. "We have ways of being rather persuasive."
"Oh? And what could you guys possibly give me that I don't have?" asked LJ.
"A special opportunity in life," LJ's double replied. "Especially someone who cares about you. How do you even know that your parents even love you? Your mother seems a bit cold and distant."
"LJ's mom might be scary, but she's a wonderful person!" Kimberly said. "Just... Don't make her mad around Halloween time."
LJ smacked his double across the room. "SHUT UP!" he scowled. "My mom loves me no matter what, and my dad is an awesome guy! I've heard enough. Get. Out."
"You'll regret ignoring me, LJ... You'll see... I guess as they say in London... Bye, luv!" LJ's double smirked a bit before he seemed to fade away into nothingness, making the rainbow lasso drop to the floor.
"Bastard..." LJ growled. "Even if it kills me... I swear I'll never be anything like he is!"
Kimberly and Chrissy soon hugged him.
"Aww... I love you too." LJ smiled, hugging them back.
"Well, that wasn't so bad, but I feel like you haven't seen the last of him," Riley said. "So, you're in Europe?"
"Yeah, we're in London right now," Chrissy nodded. "I think after London is Paris."
"He could pop up again there!" LJ exclaimed. "So if he does rear his ugly head, then we'll have to prepare for him!"
"Then Germany and Ireland..." Kimberly continued.
"Maybe even Tokyo!" Chrissy then gasped.
"Uh, Chris? That's Asia, not Europe." Kimberly said.
"Oh... Um... Heh... Never mind then..." Chrissy said sheepishly.
"If you're done here, I can take you back to where you once came." Riley suggested.
"Thank you, Riley," said LJ. "We'd be glad to go now. I'm feeling more confident in our abilities."
"Alright, it was good seeing you guys," Riley smiled. "We'll have to do it again sometime."
"Hopefully under better circumstances." Kimberly smiled back.
Riley soon held onto their heads which made their eyes glow and pass out before the three soon woke up back into the Waking Realm.
"Good news, gang," LJ smiled. "We went in and handled the problem!"
"So, you guys are good now or what?" Angelica asked. "I swear, you guys go through the weirdest stuff sometimes."
"Yeah, I think so," said LJ. "Though if they should return, I may have to split them off from ourselves, like Kami and Piccolo."
"And hey, being normal is overrated." added David.
"Ugh." Angelica rolled her eyes from that.
"You'll understand when you're a few years older," shrugged LJ as he snapped his fingers. "There. Now the wall is all clean and nobody remembers what happened to it."
"Mm-hmm..." Angelica crossed her arms a bit.
"I can't believe that happened, but hopefully it'll stop the rest of the time we're in London," Kimberly said. "Most people are are pretty polite and I'd like to make new friends if possible."
"And guys?" LJ said to Akito and Emi. "I'm sorry for what happened. You gotta understand that we literally weren't in control of our actions."
"Hmm... All right, I guess we can't fully be mad at you for that," Emi said. "And also for kinda being cryptic about what happened, but... You were technically kinda there."
"Physically, sure, not mentally," said LJ. "Now let's at least try to enjoy ourselves before we gotta go to the next part of Europe."
They soon continued to explore a bit on the way back to the adults and LJ's other friends along the way before they would have to leave London. David glanced up at the sky as he thought he saw a woman in a hat, coat, and scarf flying by on an umbrella somehow before rubbing his eyes and looking again only to see no one there, so he shrugged and continued to walk along with the others.
Eventually, they rejoined their parents back at the hotel.
"Man, it sure is great seein' old family again, huh?" Betty chuckled.
"Yeah, I feel the same way whenever we travel into the country to visit Hugh and Dottie and their son, Timmy-Ray," Stu smiled. "Not to mention Tommy and Angelica's other cousins like Tony, Tammy-Faye, or Emmett."
"I don't think we've seen them in a while," said Didi. "Maybe we ought to visit them sometime afterwards."
"Well... I dunno about you guys, but I'm all England-ed out." sighed LJ.
"I am too a bit," Zofia replied. "It was really nice to see up close though."
"Makes me think of Eloise and Giselle's nanny," Akito smiled to them, going to see them off with Emi. "She was a very interesting woman."
"Yeah, I liked her too," Emi agreed. "Something about her though made me think of Mary Poppins whenever I met her whenever she wasn't with Sir Wilkes."
David pondered. "I wonder... If that was what I saw just now?" he remarked to himself.
"You see something, Baby?" Cherry asked as she came into the scene.
"I... Could've sworn I saw some person flying with an umbrella just now..." David replied. "But I'm not sure if I really saw it..."
Cherry looked up into the sky a bit. "Well, whatever you saw, it's gone now." she then said.
David looked up. "Yeah... I guess you're right," he replied. "Let's get moving."
Everyone soon went to get ready to leave. Raul soon went to go after the others as he seemed a little late.
"What took ya so long?" Jenny asked her cousin.
"Uh, I had to use the phone for a minute." Raul replied.
"You were calling Malina, weren't you?" asked Martin.
Raul sighed. "...YES!" he bawled. "GOD, I MISS HER SO MUCH!"
"Oh, boy..." Martin and Jenny sighed from that.
"This is going to be an even longer ride now." Zofia muttered slightly.
"Tell me about it..." LJ replied. "Even without the threat of evil inner selves!"
"Do you have to leave so soon?" Winifred asked.
"Sorry, Winifred, but we have so much to see in so little time." Howard said to his cousin-in-law.
"Yeah, that sorta thing," Stu replied. "We only have two weeks, so we can at least make the most of it!"
"Be sure to come back again really soon!" Sir Cedric replied.
"Hopefully not soon enough." Kimi mumbled a bit.
And so the group left to collect their stuff and head to the airport.
"Well, I couldn't meet any cute British boys, but oh, well," Angelica shrugged. "I got a whole continent to visit."
"Whatever you say, Angelica." Tommy rolled his eyes slightly.
"Hey, maybe you'll meet a French dude," shrugged LJ. "It's a big continent."
"Hmm... French... Yeah..." Angelica said before smirking. "French guys are born romantics."
"Yeah! Keep your prospects wide and your hopes mid-level!" LJ replied as they arrived back at the hotel.
The adults got ready in their own way while the kids also got ready.
"I guess it would be nice to meet some cute boys on our trip." Kimi smiled at Lil.
"Maybe," Lil replied. "I nearly went out with that boy Brett when I was hanging around Leslie and Diane until they made fun of Phil."
"Always keep your prospects open," David shrugged as he walked past them. "Sometimes the best ones could be in front of ya and you never know until the last moment."
Lil and Kimi both looked bashful from that.
"Girls," Phil rolled his eyes. "I feel like they're plotting against us sometime. Don't get involved with a girl."
"Oh, but I've met an interesting one before we came here," Dil smiled. "She seemed to know a lot about aliens and was pretty unique to say the least."
"If she looks like you in a dress, I'm jumping out this window." Tommy warned.
"Nah, at least, I don't think so," Dil replied. "Her name was Narue."
"Huh... Sounds interesting," replied David as he sat down nearby. "Next stop, Paris, France!"
"Let's go then, mes enfants, huh?" Dil chuckled. "Did I say that right?"
"I dunno, let me ask our sister." Zofia shrugged honestly.
"Yeah, we'll probably see her in Paris." LJ added.
"Sure is nice to travel the world," Jenny smiled. "Mom usually tells me and Marty how she wanted to travel the world sometimes until Dad made her her very own hot air balloon. Just another day on the Albonquetine Islands I guess."
"Oh, definitely." agreed Nergal Jr.
"He was always doing stuff like that for her." Martin said.
"Well, he clearly did it to impress her," Jenny smirked a bit. "I bet Dad could be a great partner for Dexter McPherson, Jimmy Neutron, and maybe even Susan and Mary Test."
"It's a possibility," replied Dib. "He got to work with Dad."
"Okay, I think we're all good to go," Gaz said. "Now we wait for the adults."
"And I'm gonna keep an eye out for any suspicious characters." Chrissy commented, looking around for Clarisse and Genevieve.
"Good idea," said LJ. "Things haven't been this crazy since last year, when we went to Beach City."
"Ah, Beach City..." Cherry commented as she walked by to check on the kids. "The Crystal Gems are really great company."
"Hi, Mom/Mother." LJ, David, and Zofia greeted.
"I just wanted to make sure you were good to go," Cherry replied. "Because if you forgot something here, I'm afraid we can't come back for it."
"Yeah... I think we're all good," said LJ. "Nobody left anything behind."
"I've got my necklace." Chrissy told Cherry.
"Oh... Good..." Cherry gave a small nod from that, still feeling unsure as Chrissy was raised by the Dazzlings and all and due to the past, but she became a little more accepting since Chrissy was very important to LJ.
LJ patted his mom gently as he sat down.
"All right, say goodbye to London, everybody!" Cherry then said.
"Goodbye to London, everybody!" Lionel replied.
"Heh." Cherry glanced at him for that.
The group chuckled as the plane took off for France, as Genevieve and Clarisse had managed to sneak on board with them.
"Goodbye, Akito and Emi... It was nice..." Kimberly said, looking out the window as they left London. "I'm sure you two will have a great family together someday."
"And we'll gladly visit you when you do," LJ added as he sat back in his chair... Before seeing the two sitting nearby. "Uh-oh... This isn't good!"
"What's wrong?" Kimberly asked.
"That no good mother and daughter team is back." LJ replied.
Kimberly and LJ then took a look only to see that it was true.
"Looks like it's time for an in-flight fight," LJ remarked. "Be on your guard, girls."
Kimberly and Chrissy nodded in response.
"Watch your backs." LJ said.
"I remember your sister mentioning that in one of her letters from her school when Princess Audrey was corrupted by evil." Kimberly commented.
"Yeah, guess she learned a valuable lesson in that." LJ replied since he wasn't there for that since he was far too young.
"We know who you are," announced Chrissy. "And we're not going to let you continue your evil plans for us any longer."
"Yeah." agreed LJ with a nod.
Genevieve and Clarisse looked over.
Kira gave a small glance before shrugging to herself as she sat comfortably with Chaz. "That woman looks like Angelina Jolie."
Chaz squinted. "You know, I can sorta see it!" he replied to Kira.
"You heard us," said LJ. "Your mental magic won't work on us anymore, because we're wise to your tricks!"
"That's where you're wrong," Genevieve replied. "Mother went and got some help. Isn't that right, Mother?"
"Oh, yes," Clarisse smirked. "I think you'll find it quite wicked and appropriate."
"From who?" LJ glared. "Your Villain League of Friends or whatever?"
"You shall see," Clarisse smirked. "I think it'll be quite surprising and good things come to those who wait~"
LJ, Chrissy, and Kimberly growled from that.
"Until then, enjoy the flight," Genevieve smiled. "I'd be glad to come over and keep you three company for the duration."
"That's a solid no thanks." replied David.
Genevieve shrugged. "Ah, fair enough. We'll be having plenty of fun in the City of Lights anyway." she retorted.
"Hmph." Chrissy crossed her arms with a huff.
"I just know I'll have a better chance of finding a cute boy in France than any other part of Europe since they're born flirtatious and romantic." Angelica smirked.
"Whatever she has to tell herself." Kimi muttered slightly.
"Hopefully Felicity and Chip can help with our problem," said David. "They have experience with this sort of thing!"
"Sounds good to me." Zofia agreed.
And so the plane continued on its trip towards France. Everyone slept after a while since the flight was quite long, but it was nothing new for the Rugrats' parents. LJ was keeping a very close eye on Clarisse and Genevieve, but eventually, he dozed off as well.
"Mother, should we act now, while he is asleep?" asked Despara curiously.
"Perhaps we could attempt some sort of action deep in his subconscious," Clarisse replied before smirking. "I've done it before."
"Then we'll have to both do it together," replied Genevieve as she transformed back into Despara. "But we'll have to coerce him into being evil. Time for a bit of shapeshifting!"
"That's a good bad girl~..." Maleficent approved. "Come with me then."
Despara gave a dark giggle as she went to work with her mother.
