Saguru's pov

It took us about five minutes to walk to Edoka, but sure enough we got there. Many eyes watched us as we walked toward the front entrance, it was hard to tell but I think they were watching me because I was walking with Princess rather than coming by car.

I looked around at the other people watching us, The guys mostly looked confused, but many of the girls looked at us as if they were trying to burn holes in our chests with their eyes,"Hey Princess, if any of the other girls get mad at you I want you to know that you're my favorite person."

She looked around,"You know if it gets bad we could lie about being cousins, and then see how long it takes for them to find out it' not true," She said with a mischievous grin.

"That idea isn't half bad."

"There's no such thing as a bad idea, only poor execution,"She said, smiling.

We walked to our classroom and took our seats, the teacher had placed me next to Saguru in the back of the classroom, this was a mistake, you see Isabelle on her own is generally well behaved and quite reserved, but when you place me next to her we both end up slapping our idiocy on the table for everyone to see 'Isn't it beautiful', it's not that we talk during class it's just that we always finish our work early and start goofing off in the back of the classroom, this is when being the 'good kid' pays off because we get away with just about anything. One time we just started playing poker during class, those were the days.

Isabelle's pov

Kaito and Aoko walked into the classroom along with several other people I hadn't been introduced to, there was one girl who had light brown pigtails and glasses, and another girl she was by far the prettiest girl in the school but something about her presence just rubbed me the wrong way. Kaito scanned the room, we locked eyes, he smirked mischievously at me, I glared back at him. He began walking over in our general direction. I glanced over to my left, at Saguru he was reading an article about some famous Illusionist.

"I saw you guys come in to school today," Kaito said.

"I see you walk into school with Aoko every day, Kaito," Saguru said with out looking up.

"Yeah but you never walk to school," Kaito added.

" 'I never walk to school." Can we really focus on the word never there, I would like to point out that never is an absolute. Now as you said 'I never walk to school,' but as I said never is an absolute, meaning I wouldn't have walked to school today, but I did. Since I did walk to school today that makes that statement invalid and a prime example of a classical fallacy," Saguru said, still fixed on the article.

"Okay, but why did you walk to school with her in the first place?,"Kaito asked, slapping the magazine to the floor.

Saguru looked at the magazine on the floor,"Well that was rude." His expression was blank not showing any signs of emotion, a perfect poker face.

Kaito turned to me,"What was all of this about?"

I stared at him blankly, turned, and looked out the window.

"Hello, are you just going to ignore me?" Kaito said, stepping into my line of vision.

"Kaito, it's rude to talk to a girl you don't know the name of," Saguru said, picking up the magazine.

"Well it's rude to ignore people," Kaito said, glaring at Saguru.

"That may be true, but perhaps you're sizing up the situation the wrong way," I said.

"Oh so now you're talking,"Kaito said in a mocking tone.

"You don't really care about the answer to your question do you, you're an intelligent individual, but you're still a child at heart, you seek attention. Your jealous aren't you," I said.

"Why would I be jealous?"

"Haha, before Saguru transferred you were the center of attention, you were probably the most popular guy here, you were so used to that treatment that when some one new came along you didn't know how to share the spotlight, you became jealous because he gained the popularity that you had worked to hard for, you see him as a threat don't you, despite the fact that he's done nothing to you," I explained.

"Even If that were true, why would I want anyone's attention?" he seemed angry at me. A small crowd gathered around us eager to hear my explanation.

"Do you really want to know?" I asked.

"I want to know what stupid explanation you have for your stupid theories,"He said in an annoyed and cocky manner.

*sigh*"Oh alright, be wary, might not like what you hear. A person's past has a major impact on their actions in the future. At a very young age each and every one of us was taught various lessons and morals by a families and loved ones. In order to truly understand someone you may want to understand where they come from, you'll want to understand their past. Kuroba Kaito, your father was Kuroba Toichi, a magician, famous worldwide. Your father left eight years ago due to an accident, since then your mother has traveled all around leaving you alone. *sigh* I know that kind of life all too much, it hurts, all you can do is try to hide the pain, but the pain never goes away. You can try to fill the empty void in your heart with the admiration of others but it will never be the same."

The group of people around us looked for any signs of confirmation.

Kaito grit his teeth,"What do you know of grief?"Kaito snarled.

I could hear the sirens, the sound of those sirens ripping through the rain, the sound of weeping, the screams of an infant. That was ten years ago, those sirens still haunt my dreams.

Something squeezed my hand underneath the table. It was Saguru, he held my hand out of sight of the others.

I took a breath,"Ten years ago, ten years ago April 28, somewhere around 9:30, my mother-," Saguru squeezed my hand again almost saying I didn't have to, I squeezed back to say it was alright,"My mother, she- she took her own life. It hurts to think that someone like that would throw away their life like that, it hurts more to think that my sister will never know her voice. At lest you know that your father loved you. I cant even be certain that she cared at all," The words were hard to force out. But when I was done they lingered in the air.

I looked at Kaito, he stared back, his expression was blank but his eyes, they seemed to apologize, They seemed to say,'You understand my grief'

"I'm sorry,"I said truly meaning it,"I hope you don't resent me."

As the bell rang the teacher walked into the room, the small crowd had dispersed, each person walking to their designated seat as if nothing had happened. Saguru squeezed my hand one last time before letting go 'Thank you for your support Saguru'

Saguru's pov

I made my way over to where Bella was waiting outside.

"Princess," I said as I walked up to her,"Why- why did you say what you did back then?"

She looked at me, the sunlight glinting off the glasses that hid her innocent emerald eyes.

"Well, it's true, without realizing it his actions have been reflecting his life and inner thoughts, it's basic psychology. As for why I said that, the best answer would be, so that he can see his behavior isn't good for him or for any one and try to change for the better,"She said as we started heading toward her flat.

We continued in silence for a while and then I remembered.

"Princess, the other day you said your father wanted to see me, but you never said what time,"I said, quickly checking my watch.

"Oh yes that's right, he wanted to meet you and a few other detectives at your mother's cafe at quarter after four,"She said.

"Okay, do you know why?"

"No, I'm not actually supposed to know about it. I only know that much because he asked Rose Adler to come,"She said, grinning.

"So are you going to be there?"

"He asked me to come so I will, why wouldn't I?" She asked.

"Well he's your father after all, what if he recognizes you?"

"Aren't you forgetting something, I'm an expert with disguises, I'll be fine."
