Thyme 23
Thyme-courage, strength
Isabelle's pov
A small crowd gathered around him, it seemed everyone wanted to hear what Saguru had to say. I made my way over to Saguru's parents, they both wore a look of concern on their face.
"Fear not, he knows what he's getting into,"I said.
They both turned to me, I looked over at Saguru our eyes met and lingered there. Saguru's china blue eyes seemed to sparkle as he smiled.
"A hundred times it seems I've worn that face, but every time he proves my worries irrational. It brings me joy to see his face light up right before he explains everything,"I said, just as my father placed his hand on my shoulder. Every muscle in my body contracted leaving me standing stiff, none of them wanting to ease back to normal.
My jaw quivered but I kept staring back at Saguru, he had already turned away, part of me seemed to think that if I kept looking out that he'd be able to help.
"Alright Hakuba-kun you have our attention," The inspector said.
Saguru nodded,"Thank you Megure-Keibu."
"I've already established this,"Mouri-san said,"It's suicide, suicide, suicide."
Saguru sighed,"One might say that's the only word you know how to say,"Saguru muttered under his breath,"You see but you do not observe, surely a detective like yourself would know a suicide when he sees one. This is merely a murder made to look like one."
"And do you have the evidence to prove this?" Mouri-san asked.
"As a matter of fact I do,"Saguru said, calmly.
"Then prove it," Mouri-san said, quite rudely.
"With pleasure,"Saguru retorted with a perfect poker face,"Suicide you say? Before I get on with it I want you to answer one question for me."
Mouri-san grunted.
"Alright. In the event that this is indeed a suicide what purpose does the silencer hold?" Saguru asked as he raised a brow. Saguru follows a silent rule during his deductions, never ask a question you don't already know the answer to/
I understood at once what he meant unfortunately Mouri-san didn't. He looked at Saguru confused,"The silencer was obviously used so that no one would hear the gunshot."
"And then what? true no one would hear the gunshot, but he'd be dead in a cleaning cupboard only to be found fifteen minutes later, and if he wasn't discovered then he would've been found later in the evening by one of the employees. Now that alone isn't enough to say this is murder, but that is only the first thing I observed. Inspector what hand was the gun held in?"Saguru asked.
"In his right hand."
"I cannot express how important that small detail is. Now the second thing I noticed was that his wallet was in his left hand pocket, more on that shortly. The police didn't even bother to check the table where Meijers had been sitting, table 13. The murderer missed a detail as well,"Saguru said, his back turned to everyone,"Meijers was left handed after all."
"What makes you say that?"
"Thank you for asking," Saguru said, turning sharply on his heels,"Yes Mr. Meijers was left handed and the proof is right here at table 13," Saguru said, gesturing to a vacant table,"There's a spreading knife on the table, cream on the right side of the blade meaning the left hand was used. The tea cup was placed on the saucer at a 240 degree angle, and as I said before the wallet in the left pocket, both signs that point to someone left-handed."
"Brilliant," superintendent Hakuba muttered, he'd never really seen Saguru solve a case before.
"I see what you mean but if this is murder, then who-" The inspector began but was interrupted by a sudden burst of laughter.
"Haha. Don't you see the victim showed no signs of struggle witch means the culprit must have been someone he knew, someone he trusted. Evan Meijers didn't come here alone, no, his companion told me himself that he was asked to come. Isn't that right Nathanial Davidson," Saguru said, turning to a middle aged man who standing among the crowd,"You are the victim's trusted father in-law."
The man jumped at the sudden accusation, he gritted his teeth,"You're adorable this isn't some game you know. I have no reason to murder him."
"Oh you certainly have a motive,"Saguru said, with a smug smile,"Your daughter Anna. Your daughter Anna married Evan Meijers about a year ago, she loved him, but the love was only one sided, you can tell by the state of Evan's wedding ring. Evan probably married Anna for her inheritance, I can tell just by the way you dress that you've got money. As soon as poor Anna found out she was heart broken and committed suicide. It probably didn't take you long to find out why she took her life. When you did find out you where out raged so you arranged a meeting the lot of you, took him back to the place where Anna had died, and shot him in the right temple framing it as suicide."
"You have no proof, your conspiracies mean nothing without proof!" Mr. Davidson protested raising his voice, he raised in Saguru's face,"No proof."
"Who said I had no proof?" Saguru calmly.
The other man's face lost expression.
Saguru smiled,"I admit, you gave me a hard time with that. You didn't leave much evidence that pointed to you behind but that's when I realized the silencer. The silencer was used to allow you to slip out and dispose of the evidence before the body is discovered, however the victim was found much sooner than you had planned. You didn't have time to dispose of the evidence properly. Now the washrooms turned up empty, so if my deduction is correct you should still have them, the gloves you used to hide your finger prints."
"Your insane!" Nathanial proclaimed, taking a step back.
"Really? Then perhaps you wouldn't mind showing me what's in your pocket," Saguru said, stepping forward,"Besides even if you'd manage to dispose of them forensics will be able to find traces of gunpowder on your clothing. The truth always comes to light, you know."
Davidson snarled, he plunged his fist into his pocket,"Damn you!" He shouted, trowing the gloves violently to the floor.
"Keibu-san, take him away. The sooner you do the sooner we all can wash our hands of this affair," Saguru said, walking over to where Kaito, Aoko, her father, Conan, Saguru's parents, and myself stood,"Close your mouth Kaito you're not a codfish."
Saguru's father came up to him, he shuffled awkwardly,"That was really quite-"
"Brilliant!" I finished trowing my arms around Saguru's neck.
Saguru trembled given the sudden gesture and compliment.
"Yes quite brilliant," his father said.
"Oh ah t-thank you."
"Wait, Isabelle I thought you said you weren't interested in dating," my father said, seemingly to drop into the conversation out of nowhere.
I froze my face flushing immensely.
"Wait, please, you have to listen," Saguru said, getting quite defensive.
"What nonono, I'm just glad to see that my daughter isn't a complete failure."
