The garden
"So what do you want to do?" I asked, sipping of a cuppa.
"Oh, I'm not really sure," Saguru said,"But tonight is going to be clear out, maybe we could scout out a good spot for stargazing."
I paused and looked out at the trees, they hung over just about everything, finding a clearing might pose as a difficulty.
"Well actually I think I know a place. It's been awhile, but I'm sure it'll work. We should check it out," He said, looking out at the path near the back of the garden.
We finished up and walked on toward the place Saguru had in mind. From behind us a door opened and was shortly followed by merry shouting and laughter. We glanced behind, Aoko and Kaito were running around.
"Aw they're kinda cute together," Saguru said, aloud.
Kaito stopped running about, although he didn't see us at first. He locked eyes with me, his expression changed from merry to annoyed.
"I heard that you jerk," He shouted.
Aoko paused and turned to face us, her face turned bright red. Saguru tugged on my arm, they way he always did when we needed to go.
"Yeah, we'll be going now. Bye!" Saguru whipped around and ran.
I hitched up my skirts and followed. The path ran alongside a brook, which wound its way through the underbrush. When I had caught up with Saguru he had stopped running. He leaned against a tree painting, trying to catch his breath. I stood there and laughed.
The brook bubbled, and flowed lazily on into the wood. Over head the sun glowed brightly, it's rays bowing through the pink blossoms. Birds flew about their songs proclaiming the new born spring.
"It's just a bit further," He said, taking my hand.
We walked on in silence, taking in our surroundings. We came into a clearing only 20 meters in diameter. From there the blue sky was visible, the horizon was dotted with many clouds and stretched out to where the tips of mountains showed their pointed heads. The brook ran through bisecting the clearing, a quaint bridge, covered with ivy, lye across it. The wind blew through the trees shaking loose the pink blossoms, scattering them on the ground and lifting them again in swirls of soft pink.
I ran out to the bridge and peered over the edge. The water was clear and weaved in between rocks and stones. When I looked, up I swore I never wanted to leave. The sakura trees sprawled out on the hillside, only the roof of the Tudor manor was visible, sinking into the sea of pink flowers.
"It's like a dream," I said as Saguru walked over and stood next to me.
"I knew you'd like it," He said, resting his hand on mine.
I smiled brushing my hair out of my face.
"You shine brighter than any other," He said, pulling me in by my waist. He rested his forehead on mine,"You are my truth."
He leaned in closer till our lips met. My heart felt light. I threw my arms around his neck, deepening what had begun.
He pulled back and rubbed his nose against mine," Princess," He said, his voice faltering.
"Yeah?"
"C-could you see us g-getting married?" He didn't seem disappointed, but rather curious.
I looked into his eyes and blushed,"Yes," I said, meekly,"Yes I could."
His face brightened,"I love you," He shouted, picking me up by my waist and spinning around.
Heiji's pov
Near the clearing
8:37 pm
"Beautiful isn't it," Kauzaha said.
"I don't know, I guess so," I said, looking up through the trees, the sky was dark and only a few stars could be seen between the branches.
"What do you mean I guess so?" Kauzaha said.
I shrugged.
"Why are you so weird," She said, as she trotted ahead.
"Come on, it's just a bit further," Saguru shouted back at us.
I shifted the blanket in my arms to make it easier to carry. Somehow he was different, during the Koshen he seemed cold and distant, like he was only trying the bare minimum. Now he seemed warmer somehow, it seemed like he actually cared, and wouldn't settle for anything haphazard. He was different, more open and charismatic, when she was around him he seemed more vulnerable, like he was putting his guard down.
"Here," Hakuba said with a smile, we were in a clearing. The dark sky stretched above us. The stars were like little pin holes with a vast light behind them, some grew brighter and dimmed again, each one was different, the sky was ever changing, never the same.
We laid several blankets on the ground and sat on them, staring up at the endless night sky.
I looked around, Isabelle and Saguru sat together cuddled up under a blanket. Saguru spooned her in his lap. Together they harmonized, softly singing an English Ballad. Their song was short but sweet, I didn't know the words, the song itself I vaguely understood. When they had finished their brief recital they laughed and whispered things to each other in voices barely loud enough to hear.
I was jealous, jealous to the bond they shared. I wish it was easy, why can't it be easy.
"They complement each other don't you think?" Kauzaha said, sitting down next to me.
It was true, they were similar but their differences complemented the other. Saguru is calm and collected, Isabelle is charismatic and extroverted. Contrary to his normal flirty personality Saguru seemed to get flustered every time someone mentioned their relationship, I guess that's how she knows it's real. I've noticed that Saguru isn't very good with people, but Isabelle seems to get along with everyone.
Isabelle, Isabelle is smart, smarter than she lets on. She can't handle compliments very well, when she is complemented she'll blush and her eyes water. Saguru handles complements quite well, he'll thank you and that's it. Isabelle, she'll thank you, she'll cry softly, and you can tell she feels flattered, you can tell she means her words of gratitude.
"Yeah, they do," I said.
