Isabelle's room
9:30pm
Rain tapped on the window panes with a 'pitter pat'. The drops rolled down leaving streaks behind them. A flash lit up the room, 1.. 2.. 3.. 4.. 5.. 6.. 7.. 8.. 9.. 10.. 11.. 12, thunder crashed.
"The wind's blowing our way, it won't be too long till the storm's overhead," I muttered, turning in my bed to look at the ceiling. I just sat there staring up not really thinking about anything, just lying there drifting closer to sleep.
There was a nagging feeling in my gut that just seemed to scream at me yelling "something's wrong" but that couldn't be right, what would be wrong anyways? It's nothing, I'm certain of it.
After what seemed like forever I drifted off to sleep.
I wandered through a field of amber grain, the sky a brilliant blue. The laughter of children echoed throughout the dream. Out in the distance I saw two children running about laughing merrily, I recognized them immediately as Saguru and myself. I walked on towards them. Wicked laughter reverberated throughout.
Saguru stopped running and looked around, he took a step forward before collapsing to the ground. Radiating from where he fell the grass turned red and died, sinking into the ground. The grass withered away revealing Saguru, not as a child but as I know him, he lye on his stomach a crimson pooling beneath him. He looked beat up, blood trickled down from the corner of his mouth.
He stared at me dead in the eye, caution filling his gaze. He coughed,"You need to go, your not safe here,"he warned.
"No, I don't know what's going, but I'm not going to leave you like this!" I shouted, trying to take a step toward him. My feet sank into the ground, with each step getting deeper, and harder to get out of. Until only at an arm's reach of him, I couldn't move any further, I was waist deep and still sinking.
Saguru's eyes filled with tears,"You have to leave me! She'll kill you, wake up!"
I woke up shouting, calling out, screaming. I sat bolt up, breathing heavily. A flash of lightning lit up the room. I froze, stock still. Amongst the rain and thunder, there was another sound, the sound of two people breathing, me and the shadow only two meters from where I sat.
My heart beated so hard I could hear it in my head,"W-who are you?" I asked, slowly turning my head to look at them.
The figure grunted and lunged at me.
I did what any normal person would do,"Gagh!" I forced myself out the bed falling on my back with a loud 'thump'. For a split second I caught the reflection of a knife. I scrambled onto my feet backing up as faraway from them as I could,"Didn't your mother tell never to play with knives!?" I said, backing up toward the door.
From the hall I could hear the sound of multiple doors opening, followed by footsteps.
I looked around the room, the windows were closed,"I don't know who you are, or how you got in here. But I'll tell you this, you're messing with the wrong person!" I could feel something warm drip down my face, probably another nose bleed, I often got those during cases like this.
The figure wore a black raincoat, really that's all I could tell about them, it was too dark and I don't have the best vision.
The figure turned to the door which I stood next to, the knob slowly turned. As the door opened the person made the most pathetic knife throw I've ever seen. The knife hit the wall barely scratching it and then it fell to the floor with a clater. Saguru and Heiji stood in the doorway with the others behind them.
"Do you need any-" Saguru began, he caught a glimpse of the intruder, he took a step forward just as the shadow shattered the window and ran out into the wood. A scowl ran over his face, an expression that read 'I hope you're ready for your funeral you motherf***er', "Isabelle are you hurt?" He asked stooping down to pick up the knife, he had on a pair of white gloves.
"Yeah I'm fine, and before anyone even asks, the blood is from a nosebleed," I said. I pulled out my handkerchief and pinched my nose, tipping my head back.
Heiji walked over to the window, he scanned the floor.
"There's no reason to look for footprints by the window, the culprit was inside the house before they came in here," Saguru said.
More footsteps came from down the hall.
"What makes you say that?" Heiji asked.
Mr and Mrs Hakuba stepped into the hall outside of the room, they were soon joined by Lottie, and about 45 seconds later they were joined by Dai-san, Haru-san, and Mary-san.
"That knife is from the kitchen," I said, " You won't find any footprints over there. The culprit would've had to get the knife from the kitchen before coming here."
"What exactly is going on here?" Mr Hakuba asked, and rightfully so.
