SECRET ORIGINS Part 2 – Lioness
Gotham City, 2008
Selina Kyle had just finished a burglary, and was returning home to her apartment late one night. It was a pretty cold night, but it didn't bother her much. As she neared her apartment, she noticed movement coming form a nearby alley and investigated. At the sound of what appeared to be a whining cat, she approaches a box and gently moved a flap aside. To her surprise, she found not a kitten, but a little girl with cat features.
Immediately the girl arched her back like a cat and hissed. Selina was stunned at the sight, but quickly smiled and gently held her hand out. "It's alright little one, I won't hurt you." she said softly. The kitten slowly moved closer and sniffed at her hand. As she seemed much calmer, Selina found herself gently petting the young girl on the head. The kitten shrunk back from the petting at first, before leaning in and beginning to purr. "Can you speak?" She asked.
The Cat looked at her and tried to talk. "h….hello?" she said, with some difficulty.
"Do you have a name?" Selina asked. The little kitten shook her head. "A Family?" Another headshake. "How old are you?" The kitten held up three fingers "Okay. Where are you from?" She asked.
The kitten seemed to try and find the words. "L….Lab. Run….Away" she said slowly.
Selina understood and gently scooped the child up. The little girl flailed a bit until Selina began to pet her again. "Listen, I'm gonna help you. How would you like to come live in a happy home with me?" The kitten began to purr and quickly nod her head. "Now, what should I call you..."
"Cat….Catra!" the kitten yelled out.
"Um, I don't think-" Selina began...until she saw the kitten giving her the most adorable pleading eyes. She gave the deepest, most annoyed sigh she could muster. "Alright, alright. You're going to be Catra Kyle." She gently scratched behind the newly named Catra's ears and walked home.
Years later:
Catra was standing her ground against the kid trying to bully her. Despite her strange appearanc,e most of the other children in her elementary school left her alone. Not this idiot, this guy for whatever reason seemed to think it would be funny to try and pick on her for being a 'freak.' Catra didn't have any patience for this, and was doing nothing but snarking at him and standing her ground. This greatly displeased the guy, as she was making him look bad in front of other kids.
"What, got something to say to me cat freak?" the brat yelled.
"Yeah, you really think it's smart to pick on the girl with Razor Sharp Claws?" she deadpanned, popping the claws for emphasis.
"What you think a few little scratches scare me you little-" he began, before suddenly being lifted off the ground by his shirt.
"Get lost jerk!" Another female voice called out as he was thrown several feet away by a young blond girl, about Catra's age, fairly tall for her age. "And don't you ever come back, you hear me!" The wannabe bully quickly scampered off, as the other kids laughed their butts off, and soon dispersed.
"Thank you. Saves me the trouble of explaining to mom why I got suspended for raking my claws over his face." Catra said to the girl. The Blond walked over with a smile and offered a handshake.
"Don't worry about it. I hate bullies. My name's Adora, Adora Matthews, whats yours?" she said with a big grin.
Catra smiled back and shook her hand. "Catra Kyle. Nice to meet you Adora."
At that moment another kid ran over, this kid was much shorty and scrawnier. "Geez Adora did you need to throw him like that?" the boy asked.
"I may have gotten carried away, eh Kyle?" Adora replied, rubbing her head in shock. Then she looked at Catra. "This is my friend Kyle Smith. Kyle, this is Catra."
Kyle smiled and shook her hand. "H-hey, I'm Kyle, nice to meet you."
Catra tilted her head as he ears twitched. "Why so nervous?" she asked.
Kyle rubbed his head nervously. "People...tend to pick on me here. Adora protects me a lot." he replied.
Adora smiled and patted his back, making him stumble. "Yeah but you're one optimistic little guy, y'know?" she said with a smile. "So Catra, wanna hang out with us? I can show you around more."
Catra smiled and purred, "I'd like that a Lot Adora."
2018:
Catra was relaxing in Selina's home, waiting for her mom to get back. She had something to both ask and show her. She'd been doing alright in school and absolutely ACING her gym class (in hindsight expected due to being a cat) but she wanted more from life. Normal life was mundane for someone with her abilities. And she was gonna bring it up with her mother.
Sure enough, Selina soon re-entered in her Catwoman costume, pouring out and counting the jewels she had stolen. "Welcome home mom." Catra said, looking at the gems. "Big haul today huh."
Selina sheepishly shrugged, "You know I can't help it Catra. Theft is bad, but It's like an addiction for me." she explained.
"Oh I know. I wanna help." Catra said, surprising Selina. "Don't you dare try to lecture me about it. That would be SO hypocritical."
Selina rubbed her head. "It's dangerous you know. You could get arrested or severely hurt." she tried talking her daughter down.
"Mom, I can handle myself. Do I need to get the eyes out again? I'll get the eyes out again." She said with a catlike smirk, prompting a laugh from Selina.
"I hope you realize that I'm going to run you ragged teaching you the ropes right?" Selina said with a smirk of her own. She walked Catra to the bed and pulled out a sketchpad. "Now then, first things first, what did you have in mind for a costume darling?"
2021:
The Lioness, Gotham's newest Catburglar, was leaping across the city's rooftops, with the GCPD in hot pursuit. Her costume was a full suit, with a red longsleeved top, tight black pants, and a cat-themed red mask over her eyes and mouth, the eyes of the mask being bright green. She wore black gloves on her hands with her claws exposed, no shoes, and her shoulders had what looked like a fur collar around them. She also had a utility belt, for the few gadgets she carried. She had just finished robbing a local Museum exhibit, stealing a gold falcon statue, and had hidden her spoils away while she lead the police on a merry chase. She was CLEARLY enjoying this.
She drops a smoke bomb and using its cover, leapt over to another building and used her claws to dig into the wall and slide down safely. Just a few more minutes and she'd have given the Cops the slip. Just then, a pair of Birdarangs hit the wall near her head and sthe stopped in her tracks, rolling her eyes and turning to face the newcomer. Even if he wore a mask, she knew exactly who he was. It was hard not to, considering that she knew who his mentor was through Selina
Robin, the Boy wonder. The third one to be exact, her friend/rival Tim Drake.
"REALLY Catra?" Tim Deadpanned, leaning on his staff with a grin. "You just love leading us all on a chase don't you?"
Catra giggled with a purr. "You know me sooooo well little Robin~" she quipped, letting her claws out for the inevitable fight. "I don't suppose you'll let me go if I say please?"
"Sorry kitten, you know I gotta bring you in." Tim responded, twirling his bo staff. "Look on the bright side, at least you won't have too heavy a sentence if you put the statue back where you found it."
Catra scoffed and rushed him on all fours, leaping at him slashing. Tim easily dodged the half-asses slashes and gave Catra a jab in the side with his staff. She tried again, and this time he whacked her on the butt, prompting a catlike yowl. "Hey!" she protested.
Tim chuckled. "Sorry, sorry." Then they got serious. They traded blow after blow, each landing a hit on the other in almost a trade off. Catra was very careful not to seriously injure Tim, and Tim did likewise. Eventually, Catra managed to tackle Tim to the ground and smirk. "Gotcha now little bird, time to clip your wi-" she began to gloat, before he kicked her off of him and knocked her on the head with his staff, knocking her down. Catra groaned as she laid face first on the ground, and Tim cuffed her.
Catra, her voice muffled by the concrete groaned, "I hate you Tim." she deadpanned as Tim sat her up and leaned her against the wall.
Tim chuckled, "I know. You'll beat me sometime. Look on the bright side. It was me, and not Nightwing, Batman, or Power Princess." he quipped.
Catra stifled a laugh. "If Adora came to arrest me, I'd just have to give her a cute look and she'd back off." she said smirking as the Police arrived in the Alley.
"Uh-huh. Well, better hope the judge is favourable, Lioness." Tim said, helping load her into the squad car.
The Car drove off, heading for the GCPD. IT didn't get far however before a thump was heard on the roof. The cop driving pulled over and looked out his window, and was suddenly dragged out of the car. Selina soon opened the back door and smirked at her daughter. "Really Catra? You actually got caught?" she said with a laugh, as Catra picked the cuffs on her wrists with ease.
"Robin caught me off guard." Catra admitted, stepping out of the car and hugging her mother. The Polivce officer attempting to drive her tried to get back up, before Catra knocked his lights out. "But I did give the GCPD one hell of a chase~"
"What did you steal this time?" Selina asked as she walked with her daughter.
"Gold bird statue." She replied. "Didn't want it. Just felt like proving I could."
Selina grinned. "And where did you put it?" She asked. Catra just gave her cat-smirk as they walked off.
Detective Bullock and Commissioner Gordon were headed to the Commissioner's office, having recently heard of Lioness's escape. "I'm telling ya Gordon, We gotta start crackin' down on people like Lioness. And Clearly Batman doesn't care, otherwise her and her thieving mother would be behind bars by now." Bullock yelled in his usual loud manner.
Gordon rolled his eyes. "We've got more important things to worry about Bullock. Joker's escaped from Arkham, and we still haven't managed to find where Two-Face is hiding. We're stretched thin and you know it." he explained. "We'll be able to track Lioness down again when we have the manpower."
"And I'm telling you, send me out on my own and I'll drag her in by her tail." Bullock boasted as they walked into Gordon's office.
And sitting right there on his desk, was the fucking statue that Catra had Stolen. With a note.
Gordon gave Bullock a look and took the note from the Statue. As Bullock stammered in absolute confusion, he read through the note and sighed heavily, facepalming. "Well….that's a case solved I suppose."
The Note was pretty quick and to the point:
To Commissioner Gordon:
You can have it back now. Didn't really want it, just wanted to prove I could do it. Honestly you should really update the security around this thing~

Secret Origins Part 2, today we cover a "villain" origin.
I just could not resist making Catra tied into Catowman. Despite making her a villain, she's not really….evil. Just really fucking bored with mundane life.
I have no idea why Tim and Catra ended up being so friendly with each other. It just sorta happened.
Catwoman is based mostly on her Arkham self, wearing her Arkham Knight uniform, just with her suit fully zipped up and not exposing her cleavage. Seriously, that seemed very impractical to me…
Tim Drake as Robin is based primarily off his DCAU personality, with a bit of the Comics, and the outfit of his Young Justice cartoon counterpart.
They didn't appear but were mentioned so, Nightwing is his Arkham counterpart, with a bit of the comcis, and is in his Arkham Knight appearance. The Blue outfit, not the red, because Fuck the New 52. Batman is based primarily off the DCAU, but wearing a more armored outfit that resembles the Young Justice Seasons 1 and 2 costume.
Furthermore, Barbara Gordon is Oracle, following the events of the Killing Joke story, and the current Batgirl is Cassandra Cain. Once again, FUCK the New 52 and how it mistreated Cassandra, the best Batgirl. Also Screw the Birds of Prey movie, that was AWFUL.
Ranting aside, I hope you all enjoyed this story! Leave a Review if you did. Still havent watched past season 1 of She-Ra. No spoilers please :)
