SECRET ORIGINS Part 3 – Glimmer
HONORING THE JUSTICE SOCIETY!
All footage is taken from historical news reels. The Video is property of the Smithsonian.
Over the 1900's, The first age of superheroes began wait the appearance of Wonder Woman, during the first World War. This was followed in 1931 by the appearance the Flash in Keystone city, followed Shortly by the Green Lantern, Alan Scott. The World was soon flooded with costumed crusaders willing to fight for peace and justice: Wildcat, Dr. Fate, Red Tornado, Sandman, Hourman, Arch-mage and Light Hope!
It would seen be announced in 1935 that these magnificent heroes had officially banded together, forming the Justice Society of America. However it was around this time that the world would change forever.
1939 – The start of World War II. As Hitler and his Nazi armies marched across Europe, members of the JSA began acting towards locating Axis spies within our borders. After the tragedy of Pearl Harbor, Wonder Woman of the JSA made a shocking public address to the entire nation.
"Actions like this, and what Adolf Hitler is performing in Europe are COMPLETELY unacceptable. From today onward, we are working with the Military and will fight to protect the ideals of Justice for the entire world."
Sure enough, shortly after this address, President Roosevelt made the announcement that the JSA would be formally deputized by the American Government, and would be headed for Europe as soon as possible.
Sure enough, London would be saved from another Nazi Air-Raid by the efforts of Light Hope, Arch-mage and Doctor Fate.
June 6, 1944 – The Justice Society is glimpsed by Allied forces at Normandy. Wonder Woman lead the charge personally
September 26, 1944 – Nazi General Vandal Savage holds off several allied attacks with a secret weapon. The Justice Society rushes in to destroy it.
September 27, 1944 – Vandal Savage is defeated by Light Hope and Arch-mage. The two heroes seemingly killed the madman, but no body was ever found.
By the end of World War II, The Justice Society was offered to remain deputized by the US Government, which they refused, preferring to act against domestic threats and crime.
However things took a somber turn for the team during the height of the Cold War. The Vietnam war, Nuclear build-up, and many many more incidents caused the Society to become disillusioned with the world at large, and the JSA officially disbanded. Furthermore, Light Hope and Arch-Mage made a formal announcement that they personally were retiring from Super-heroics as a whole.
Eventually, the various members of the JSA soon retired themselves, or passed away naturally. Nobody knows where they are now, save for Wonder Woman. However, America will never forget the sacrifices and heroics of the World's first ever superheroes! Truly, they are men and women to be honored!
Angela Moon chuckled softly as she watched the video, reminiscing about her time as one of the world's first Superheroes. She had come to Earth decades ago, having become exhausted with her homeworld of New Genesis, and their unending wars with Apokalips. She figured she could do some real good on a less developed planet, filled with a far less civilized species. She never expected to fall in love with the quaint young human species, and quickly ended up going native. Although she always did dislike her old name, Light Hope. Far too corny for her standards.
But she missed the old days. Of her old team, she married Michael, Arch-Mage, who's magic had made him borderline immortal. Jay Garrick was still alive, his powers seeming to slow his aging. Alan Scott disappeared somewhere in deep space, she all but knew he had fallen in the line of duty. Wildcat had died naturally, and from what his friends and family told her, peacefully. She still kept in touch with Wonder Woman, who had become part of a brand new team, the Justice League. Hourman and Sandman had all but dropped off the radar, retiring themselves. Kent Nelson has also had his aging all but stopped, likely as a result of his connection to the Helmet of Fate. She doubted the arrogant Lords of Order would lose their best Doctor Fate in years. And Red Tornado was a machine. He had moved on to the Justice League.
Angela's thoughts now, however, were on the most important part of her life. And how much trouble she was in.
"Angela Moon Jr, have you been in your father's magical equipment again?" She sternly asked. Her daughter Angie, a young, short tan skinned girl with bright pink hair curved upwards and deep purple eyes, tried and failed to hide the staff she had been messing with behind her back.
"….No?" she said nervously, until her mother gave her the look.
Angela sighed in annoyance. "Sweetheart I know you want to learn magic like your father. But he has decades of experience. You've only just begun mastering your Light-control." she explained, taking the staff away from Angie.
Angie groaned out loud. "Mom, you're a New God, Dad's a super powerful mage, and you're both LEGENDARY superheroes! I just wanna do what you guys do." she pouted, crossing her arms.
Angela gave her daughter a hug. "And if you want to be, you WILL be." she said softly. "But not until you've had proper training and have actually learned the extent of your powers. What your father and I did, with the Justice Society, was very dangerous. Especially considering we were heroes during a time of war." She calmly explained to her daughter.
Angie sighed and nodded. "I know, I know." she groaned.
Angela then looked at her daughter. "Tell you what, I'll see if any of my old friends would be willing to help your father and I train you. And I'll even help you with your suit." she said.
"You mean it?"" Angie said as her eyes lit up.
Angela nodded, before putting on her serious face again. "Of course, you KNOW you're grounded for the moment, right?" she deadpanned.
"….crap."
2021:
Doctor Light was tired of nobody taking him seriously. Yeah he lost to the Titans once or twice...maybe a dozen times… but he was still a villain that would normally be a match for the Justice League. And he was going to make damn sure people knew this. Using his light powers, he staged a robbery at the largest bank in Washington, and rather than make his escape, he stood his ground and yelled out. "Bring me the Justice League! Come on out, I'll take them all on at once!" he loudly boasted.
"The Justice League? Really…? Dude, you aren't worth their time." A female voice replied, and a new hero appeared in a burst of sparkles and light right in front of him.
She wore a dark purple unitard, with a light purple vest with a coattail that when down past her waist. A Gem was set into the chest area of the vest, and she wore white finger-less gloves that went up to her elbow, silver shoulder pads, And purple boots with teal coloring on her toes and heels. The Boots also had a gold Moon symbol on the front of them. On her back was a teal cape decorated with star patterns, and the outfit was completed by a light purple full head mask, with her mouth, nose and hair uncovered, and her eyes covered by Teal goggles.
Doctor Light looked at the newcomer in complete confusion. "Who...who the hell are you supposed to be?" he asked in genuine, utter confusion.
She smirked and snapped her fingers, causing sparkles to fly from them, and struck a heroic pose. "You can call me Glimmer!" she announced. The gathering crowd seemed put off by this strange new hero, and Doctor Light looked completely deflated.
"Look, kid you're brave and all but I'd much rather fight a REAL superhero-" he began...and then Glimmer teleported directly in front of him and landed a punch clean on his face. He stumbled back, off balance as she teleported behind him and round-house kicked him in the head. As he recovered from his stagger he growled. "Why you little, I'm gonna-!" he was interrupted again by Glimmer landing on his head. He fired at her, only for her to teleport AGAIN and land a solid punch in his stomach. She backflipped gracefully away from him and posed again.
"Please tell me the cameras saw that." she excitedly said. As she looked away briefly, she was hit HARD by a light beam and knocked flat.
Doctor Light approached her, gritting his teeth in anger and irritation. "No, no NO! I will not be humiliated by some sparkly, glitter covered NOBODY!" he yelled out, shaking in anger and charging up another attack. "Just fry you frigging pain in my ass!"
Glimmer's eyes widened under her goggles and she put up a Light-shield to block the attack, holding it as long as she can. She needed to take this fight a bit more seriously, or she'd get herself killed in her first ever Super fight. Standing up, she began to walk towards him, keeping the barrier up. When she got close enough, she made the barrier pulse, breaking Doctor Light's concentration, before throwing a handful of sparkles into his eyes, causing a flashbang effect. As he stumbled blindly, she leapt up and finished the fight by kneeing him in the face, knocking him out, to the cheers of the crowd. She smiled brightly at her victory as police came to deal with him, and reporters swarmed her.
"Alright alright, everyone please settle down, and allow me to introduce myself properly. I am Glimmer, the daughter of Legendary Justice Society Heroes Light Hope and Arch-Mage!"
Angela watched the news at home with her husband Michael, her just shook his head. "Our daughter is making Booster Gold look restrained." he quipped prompting a giggle from their youngest daughter, Winter.
"You would think she'd have learned to take things much more seriously." Angela groaned, face-palming. "Still she did good for her first real fight."
"I wanna be just like big sis." Winter said, ice forming around her hands. "I can be a superhero too."
Michael patted her on the back, "Now now Winter, you still have a ways to go before you can think of suiting up yourself." he explained. The 13 year old very quickly pouted, but nodded and watched the TV in awe.
Vandal Savage watched the news as well, keeping quiet in his sanctum. He never forgot his humiliating defeat to the Justice Society, and now his greatest enemies had brought up a new superhero? In the long run it didn't matter much to him. He would still need to destroy the Justice League if he intended to rule the world as it was. But even still, fate had handed him a perfect method of revenge for his humiliation in World War II. A grim smile appeared on his face as she turned the TV off. "Well Light Hope, Arch-Mage. You seem to have raised a lovely child. I look forward to seeing your faces when she falls before me."
To Be Continued….

Yep, it was Glimmer's turn. It honestly shocked me as I was writing this how….Booster Gold she was turning out. Mind you, I LOVE Booster Gold, but it's still hilarious. Also yes, the Justice Society DID exist in this universe. For the most part, the surviving members are their Young Justice counterparts. However, Doctor Fate is not. Doctor Fate has the appearance of his Injustice Counterpart, and the more friendly DCAU personality. I… do no like when media makes Nabu an unrepentant jackass
This can now be transitioned into this world's timeline of superheroism.
First Age/Golden Age – 1914 – 1960s. This is the era of the Justice Society and when Wonder Woman first appeared in the modern world. It ended with the disbanding of the JSA in protest of the Vietnam war.
Second Age/New Era – 1999 – 2012. This era was kicked off by the appearance of Batman in Gotham City, and solidified with the arrival of Superman in Metropolis. More Superheroes began appearing all over the world, and in 2006, the Justice League was founded by Superman, Batman, Hal Jordon, The Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl, and the Martian Manhunter. (SIE NOTE: I used Hawkgirl because of my love of the DCAU. Duh. The founding members are a mix of Pre-Flashpoint founders and the DCAU.)
Third Age/Next Generation – 2012-Present. The rise of the Sidekick. The first Robin begins to fight alongside Batman, Kid Flash makes his appearance, and many more young heroes begin appearing across the world. Capped off by the official founding of the Teen Titans in 2014, founded by Robin, Cyborg, Raven, Beast Boy, Kid Flash, Aqualad, and Starfire. By 2015, Robin changed his identity over to Nightwing. The Current Titans roster also includes the third Robin, and the Conner Kent Superboy.
So yeah… I have a LOT planned with this universe. And yes, Michael is Micah. I have been told his NAME but have not seen pretty much anything about him, I still only know the first season. No Spoilers.
