SECRET ORIGINS Part 7: Perfuma
Somewhere in South America, 2020:
The village of Plumeria was a peaceful place, its inhabitants avoiding all technology and instead relying on the land to survive. Food was never short, and even times of drought were no threat to the village. The reason for this prosperity, was due to the gifts possessed by the bloodline of the Village chiefs, the Willow family.
They were connected to the Green.
The Willow family have long since been followers of and tied hand in hand with the Green, their daughters being gifted with plant controlling and growing powers. Usually the Daughters of the Village chiefs help tend to the Village's crops, hide the village from view with the local forests, and commune with the Green. In return, the people of Plumeria give the utmost respect to the local flora and fauna, only hunting and farming what was required. The wielder of its energy was given a title as well, the Perfuma. Though admittedly, they don't remember if that was the original title or not, it just sort of stuck.
The current Perfuma was the young Bloom Willows. She was a young, beautiful woman, tall for her age, with long blond hair, and wore a lovely pink dress and green coat. She also had grown herself a crown of flowers. She was very popular among the villagers for being gentle and kind.
She had been deep in meditation one day, communing with the Green. Through the plants of the world, she was able to see just what was going on outside their quaint little village. She was distraught to see how horrible things were in the big city. People would go hungry, criminals were running rampant, and even though there were Superheroes to protect the people, there were just as many villains to harm them. And then, she saw what absolutely infuriated her.
In Gotham city, there was a woman with similar powers to her. A Murderer, a maniac claiming to be acting on the Green's behalf, Poison Ivy. She had also learned of another madman calling himself the Floronic man. These people who claimed to have the best interests of the planet at heart and were instead simply mass murdering villains made Bloom sick to her stomach. She knew she had to do something about this, but she also didn't want to leave Plumeria. She'd end up having to consult with her mother.
She made her way to her hut, and asked her mother what she should do. Her mother thought a moment before saying, "I still have some control over the powers of the Green, I can keep the village safe in your absence. Do what you feel is right." She hugged her daughter as she said this. "If you feel you can be a hero to the people of the outside world, it's your decision, and I will respect it." She told her daughter, hugging her close. "Just remember, things will be very different outside the village than inside it."
"Of course mother." Bloom replied, beginning to pack a few things for her journey. "I just KNOW I can do so much good. And I can show people the good of the Green, unlike the monsters I've witnessed in my meditations."
"To think that the Green could be used so recklessly, with no regard for others. It's unacceptable." her mother said, keeping her calm as best as she could. "Just remember our motto. Never start a fight unless there is no other options available to you."
"I know mother. I will." Bloom replied, bowing in respect. "I….just hope I can adapt well to the big city.
Metropolis:
An Explosion rung out at the Metropolis Mint, as several members of Intergang staged an elaborate heist. They had planned this heist out for weeks now, even making sure Superman was offworld at the time, so they'd have more time to act. The Police were no match for the sizable group they had brought along, and they were quickly cleaning out the vault.
"Figures when big Blue's outta the way, the cops in this city can't do crap!" one of them yelled out.
"Mannheim's gonna be happy with this haul." Another commented. Suddenly, they heard someone walking in.
Bloom Willows, Perfuma, walked in silently and looked over the group. "What the...who the fuck is this?" The leader of the team asked in confusion. "Some hippie?"
Bloom kept her calm. "I am called the Perfuma. Mistress of the Green. I ask you lay your weapons down at once and surrender. I have no wish to harm you." she announced. This...was responded to by laughter and jeers.
"Perfuma?!"
"What the hell kinda name is that?"
The leader walked over and cocked his pistol. "Listen kid, This ain't a place for a hippie nobody like you to get involved. So how about you turn around and walk away, or I'll-" he was interrupted as a vine burts from the ground and tied him up, prompting panic from the others. Perfuma flashes a smile as she began manipulating the nearby plant life and growing vines and roots to quickly tangle and disable each of the criminals.
"I did give you all a warning didn't I? I may not like Violence, but I am not afraid to fight back if need be." she explained, bringing up a quick-sprouting Tree to block gunfire and finishing taking down the Intergang members with precise movements and attacks, hurting them as little as possible. The Police were soon able to move in and apprehend them. She tried to quickly leave before anyone came to ask her questions, but she wasn't fast enough.
"Excuse me miss?" A voice called out. Turning, Bloom was quickly approached by Lois Lane. "My name is Lois Lane, I'm with the Daily Planet. Can I have a few moments of your time?" She asked.
"Um...how come?" Bloom asked, looking in confusion at her. "What's a Daily Planet?"
"You're...not from around here are you? I just want to ask you a few things. You just saved the day, and are clearly a metahuman. I really hope you won't mind?" Lois explained. "Especially since the only other plant controlling superhumans people know of are either villainous or apathetic."
"R-right." Bloom agreed, nodding. "I'm… well my village called me the Perfuma. At least we think that's the title, we don't have written records. I'm tied into a force called the Green, which ties all plant-life together. I left my rather isolated village because I thought I could be a huge help here." She began, sitting down on a flower she sprouted to tell Lois everything.
Hours later – Intergang Headquarters:
"GODDAMMIT!" Bruno Mannheim shouted, throwing his newspaper across the room, having read the article on the newest Superhero in town. "We plan this fucking heist for MONTHS, wait for the PERFECT moment to act when Superman's out of the way, AND SOME FLOWER-CHICK RUINS IT!?"
His bodyguard nervously cleared his throat, "Well, we can't have predicted this.." he explained. "At the very least, nobody is cracking in prison so nothing will be linked to you."
"I'm not worried about THAT! I'm furious about the fact that my business and operations are being CONTINUOUSLY disrupted by these costumed morons!" Mannheim replied, punching his desk. As he ranted, a booming sound was heard outside the room, drawing everyone's attention. They quickly ran out to check where it came from, and were greeted by what could only be described as a monster.
"Well, Mister Mannheim, I think I have a deal for you." The figure stated. It stood a near 7 feet tall, with chalky white skin, piercing red eyes and teeth, a gaunt demonic face, and pointed ears. The face had no nose, save for an empty space, making its head resemble a skull. It had a short Mohawk of bluish purple hair, and wore what appears to be a high tech power suit, Deep Grey with red highlights. There was a red symbol on his chest, of two large bat-wings on the sides of a small red circle, which held an Omega symbol inside. A Maroon cape was draped across his back, leading to a high collar that covered the entire back of his head. Everyone in the room was terrified by the figure and quickly drew their weapons, prompting it to scoff. "I come from a world with powerful technologies, which I am very willing to grant you."
"Oh yeah? And what's the price you freak?" Mannheim asked.
"Complete loyalty to myself, my Father, and the world of Apokalips. In exchange, you'll be granted weaponry potent enough to even kill Superman." the figure explained, prompting an interested look from Mannheim.
"And just who are you anyway? It's bad business to not know my partners." he asked, lowering his pistol. The figure gave him a sinister grin.
"You may refer to me as Hordak..."

Barely managed to get this chapter out today, Jesus. Yeah so this one is a lot shorter, I honestly had difficulty thinking of an origin for Perfuma…. I will admit I sorta just feel meh about her in the show. Hoping that'll change as I watch more. She's a 1-to-1 translation in terms of appearance and outfit to the Netflix show, since as the princess of an isolated village, I honestly imagine her wearing that.
And of course, how could I do a She-Ra story WITHOUT Hordak? I took one look at him and I thought "Apokalips" Immediately. It just fits. He is ALSO 1-to-1 the Netflix show, Season 1 at least. With exception of the Omega logo.
Mind you...I might have a lot for the NEXT origin as I have been VERY excited for it.
Please refrain from Spoiling the She-Ra netflix show, I am very slow to watch it and would like to remain as unspoiled as possible. Don't, however, let that frighten you away from leaving a review if you enjoyed ^_^ I very much enjoy feedback on my work, lets me know my time isn't being wasted.
I do not own She-Ra or DC
NEXT TIME: Got nothing clever here, it's OBVIOUSLY Entrapta.
