Hi, everyone. I'm so sorry for the huge delay! This chapter was really tough to write cuz it's kinda my first timer to write super hero magic and tech fight scenes. There were so many rewrites and delete for this to be complete. Hence the delay.
Plus, the covid cases in my country is decreasing a lot, so work had been really busy. So I had a lot to balance.
That said, here you go!
Oh, and yea, there's a post-credit scene here.
Loki was never the type of person who'd ask for help in anything. Even if he has difficulties to what he had been going through, he'd do his best to finish it on his own. The concept of a helping hand or assistance is just so foreign to him.
Which is why, when the Avengers and his brother came to their aid, it felt odd to him. Thor ran to his side as he blasted another mechanical robot with his axe, "I thought I told you that if you needed help, you'd give me a call," Thor stood by his side, his axe ready.
"I don't need help," Loki gritted his teeth, and used his green energy to blast off the robots off their ground and crashed to the wall. He used his levitating swords to slice the other robots down, "I can handle this."
"I can see that," he lifted his axe, small sparks of lightning began to flow, "Robots, huh? Not something I had never fought before."
A little further from them, Wanda released a powerful scarlet force and tore the mechanical technology apart, alongside her new Avenger members. The new Captain America flew back to her side and caught his shield, "Never thought I'd see the one who tried to invade New York now here to save New York."
"What's important is that he's on our side," the man with the metal arm replied as he was shooting another robot.
Loki snorted, unable to say anything. He's tired of people trying to refer him back to his past and at this point, for all he cares now, he's never interested to join their team anyway.
By the time they found the last of the robots together, Kang reappeared right in front of the Avengers. His expression was relaxed as if he knew that they could all beat his little minions. "Ahh, you guys brought help," Kang grinned, "Then it's fair for me to bring mine," he tapped something on his metal arm and suddenly, two portals appeared beside him.
And from the portals, four figures appeared from each of them, they were all wearing different outfits. Loki examined them all carefully…
And realized that they are all variants of Kang! They are all in their armored suits, one that looks like Iron Man's, but a lot more advanced looking. Some looked like they were built for defense, some were for the offense.
"This is what I've always wanted now," he laughed sinisterly, "All of you, against all of me."
"I've heard that before," Wanda murmured.
Then Kang pointed at her, "I see that you are quite stubborn to give up, missy. Then I suppose that we're going to have to take you by force," he then tapped his metal arm again, and a different portal appeared behind him, "I'm on my way."
Wanda shouted in horror at the realization, "They are after my children!"
"Oh no, you don't!" Loki shouted in anger, he's not going to let this man get away with it. He let his green energy flow and blasted an energy ball towards him. Sure enough, his variants blocked it, as he expected. Then, he made a curve blast. The green energy ball swerved around Kang and exploded right at the portal, sending the Kangs back, away from the Portal until it vanished.
Quickly, Wanda lifted a huge truck and slammed it onto the Kangs, throwing him off the ground. The Scarlet Witch's eyes turned darkly red like blood, as if ready to hunt, "You are not going after my children."
Loki turned to Strange behind him, "We need to get back to Kamar-taj, Mordo's there."
"Oh no, you don't," they heard Kang's voice, as if untouched. The variant of Kangs began shooting blasts at him.
Rapid shots began firing towards their target, far more powerful than before. Loki, Wanda, and Strange set up their force fields, protecting everyone from the coming attacks. The protection fields were able to block their attacks, except that they had to hold on a long time as the blasts coming at them were terrifyingly strong. It was like a huge nuclear was detonated at them.
By the time the shots and dust settled, they all could see bright glowing lights emerging from it. And there they are, the army of Kangs. They all had canons attached to their arms like Iron Man, except their energy blast, looks more advanced as it's bigger and the energy blast seems to be recharging for another attack.
The Kang in the middle, the one they encountered first, smirked, "You ain't goin nowhere, pal," he then waved his hand at his back and created another portal, "Just like y'all, I'm an ambitious man. I'll keep y'all busy with my guys. Have fun!" He then waved at them and walked back towards the portal. Kang vanished alongside the portal, leaving them with his other variants who are likely as strong as him.
The three magic users released their fields, Loki snapped, "We need to get him, NOW!"
"I can't go back," the Supreme Sorcerer released another mystic energy, preparing to fight coming Kangs, "If he destroys the Sanctum, part of the Dark Dimension can break in this reality and all hell will break loose."
"This place is ALREADY hell," Loki shot at him in fury, "He's tearing this place apart AND your little home where we kept the people who they target."
"Then we'll just have to take them out as fast as possible," Thor looked at the robot Kangs, "Together." At that mention, everyone nodded their heads. All preparing their stance to fight. "Never thought I'd be fighting alongside you, brother."
"Neither did I," The God of Mischief chuckle, he remembered watching his future and saw a time where they both fought alongside each other. It was game-changing when he saw that, and he wished to see that future more often. He prepared his stance, "I think we should give them our opening entrance."
"Sounds good," Thor twirled his axe, sending sparks of lightning to float around him, "Hey, cap. My brother and I would like to give them our opening entrance, get'em once they have our attention."
Sam nodded, he lifted his shield, "Give'em everything you got."
Thor nodded, and readied his stance, "Double team, eh? Shall we do the old way?"
"Why not," Loki conjured two steel blades, each rotating around him.
Wanda watched the brothers stepped forward as if protecting them. But she knew they had something up their sleeves, for she saw them when they fought together. Fierce, determined, and fearless.
Yea, that's what they are now. Real gods, punishing humans. The Kangs didn't look fazed, as if underestimating them. But they shouldn't have done that.
Suddenly, in a flash, it's as if they had Tommy's speed. They dashed towards one Kang, Loki was upright at his face. Loki got his attention and Kang thought he had him, and he raised his arm and blasted a shot at the God of Mischief.
However, what he shot was a projected image of Loki. The real Loki appeared behind him and stabbed him at the back with one of his steel swords, stabbing right through his chest.
The other Kangs reacted and tried to shoot him back, but Thor landed right behind Loki and let out a discharge of lightning, blasting back the Kangs onto their backs. When one of the offenses Kangs managed to recover, a sword stabbed right to his head and vanished in a flash as well. It vanished as Loki and Thor dashed together and aimed on one of the Kangs that has a huge defense suit.
Loki dodged left and right a couple of times, with the aim of losing his balance while Thor released huge bolts of lightning right at the defense Kang and the other Kangs, just to blind them off, but this particular huge bolt was aimed at where Loki is aiming for.
The God of Mischief lunged and waved his levitating sword at him, slashing and slicing his armor. Truly turning him confused. Just like before, the defense Kang blocked it. However, Loki expected this.
Because this time, he was so preoccupied with Loki that he forgot that Thor was near him. The God of Thunder slammed his axe sideways on his helmet, throwing it off the ground. Once the helmet flew off, Thor circled again and decapitated his head.
The headless Kang became motionless and dropped dead.
Wanda watched in awe as the brothers fought together. There was so much pressure placed upon the Kangs with just them both, they managed to throw him off-guard. The brothers then targeted another Kang, but the others are about to take aim at them by flying, readying their canons at them.
The Scarlet Witch decided that this is her time to shine too. Wanda flew up and concentrated on her magic, she created a huge mist, enveloping the Kangs. She can't say whether one of Nightmare's powers could attack her again, so she switched her tactic. She's going to do what she did to Thanos.
As the Kangs were staggered, she lifted them up and one by one, and tore their armors away. Little by little, Wanda was able to chip their armors away.
However, some managed to break free from her restraints and shot her, staggering her back. Stephen came in and summoned his shields, assisting Wanda before the blasts reached her.
The rapid shots were stopped as Sam swooped in, throwing his shield at the Kang. It bounced onto his chest, knocking him to the ground, and rebounded to another Kang before it returned to Sam. One of the Kang was about to shoot him with his arm canon until Bucky appeared with a terrifying speed and connected his metal fist on his face. The Winter Soldier repeatedly punched him in the face until he made sure that Kang was down.
"Go," Thor suddenly shouted as they were fighting off the other Kangs.
Loki looked at him briefly before quickly turning back to their enemies, who just threw in small metal balls that quickly turned into robots, "What?"
"Get back to your girlfriend," his brother boomed, "That man might have a connection to what may have happened to Jane, I need him captured!"
Loki nodded, he didn't know what happened to his lady, but he didn't need him to tell him why they all need to capture Kang, "I'll leave them to you, brother," he didn't need to look back to see whether his brother acknowledges him or not, because his mind is already occupied with Sylvie's safety. He needed extra hands to help him fight Kang, "Strange! Wanda!" he shouted, "We have to get back to Kamar-taj!"
Wanda blasted another ball of energy to the Kangs, to which they managed to block. She turned to Loki, "But what about the Sanctum?"
"I'll handle it, you both go," Strange immediately replied, "I'll protect the Sanctum with the Avengers."
"Damnit, Strange," Loki growled in frustration, "Kang and Mordo are likely in front of Sylvie and you're the only one who can release her!"
"Wong can," he pointed to his friend, who fought beside him, "Bring him with you!"
Wong nodded at him and made a quick portal, "Quickly, inside now!"
Strange created a huge shield in front of them, "Quickly! Go! I can't hold them off much longer!"
Loki nodded, "Stay strong," he couldn't believe he said that, but he felt like he needed to. Quickly dismissing that thought, he turned back to the portal with Wanda and Wong and the three of them jumped into the portal. I'm coming, Sylvie.
Sylvie struggled to stand up, trying to face Mordo off again. Damn, if only she could use her magic. She could barely even stand up, with her powers gone, healing is a huge issue. Her long-sleeve arm jumpsuit was torn, leaving it half sleeve and her arm received a huge would.
The Goddess of Mischief struggled to stand on her feet, but she let out a gasp when her ankle gave her away. When did she sprain her ankle?
"Sylvie," the twins cried out to her, each taking their positions beside her, "Are you okay?"
She tried to say yes but the pain on her ankle gave it away, "No," she coughed.
Tommy grabbed her arm and tried to pull her up, "We've got to get you out of here."
"Mobius," he has his tempad, he could get her out of here, she looked around her surroundings. Projections of Mordo were fighting the sorcerers and Minutemen, but the real Mordo is nowhere to be seen. And where is Mobius? "Have you seen Mobius?"
"I'll go find him," he zoomed for a minute and reappeared again, "There," he pointed towards the debris from the fallen gazabo, that was likely thrown from the impact of Mordo. There, Mobius was on his back, eyes closed.
Oh no, she gathered her strength and stood up, not caring about the pain so long as she knows if Mobius is alive. She needed to know if her friend is ok. Sylvie limped towards him, Billy walked beside her whilst Tommy, understanding what she intended to do, zoomed towards him. When the super speed child arrived before him, he quickly checked his face and placed his head close to his, then he looked at her, "He's alive."
Sylvie sighed in relief, and quickly limp to him to see for herself. Something hit his head, for blood is trickling down his forehead, and he's covered with soot and dust. She immediately collapsed to his side and shook his shoulder, "Mobius! Mobius!"
Her friend furrowed his brows, groaning, "Urgh…I think I hit my head."
"You sure did," she muttered, breathing out a sigh of relief knowing that he's alright, "We have to get you out of here. Can you stand up?"
Another explosion blasted near them, to which they ducked. Luckily, the impact wasn't so hard to throw them off again. Sylvie did her best to stand up again, trying to see who made that shot.
And right at their front, out of the smoke, stood Mordo. His eyes are yellow and full of rage, his cape swaying, and sparks of dark magic surrounded him. Even without magic, she can feel how much hate and anger were in that dark magic he possesses.
Sylvie limped towards him, her ankle still hurts…..no, everything hurts. To be truly honest, she's tired already. The Goddess of Mischief was ready to just faint and let the darkness consume her.
But if she did that, Mordo could get what he wants from her. God knows what she wanted from her.
"Now," Mordo boomed, his demonic voice sends chills down her spine, the dark magician stretched his arm towards her, offering her his hand, "Will you step in calmly? Or must this all end with a fight?"
"You started it," she spat.
"Stubborn to the end," he hummed calmly, before glaring daggers at her, "Last chance, Sylvie Laufeydottir. And I would recommend that you choose wisely, for you are on your own here."
"She's not alone," the voice of a child interrupted him, and in a blink of an eye, two young boys stood in front of Sylvie, their body language showed that they are prepared to fight the dark magician.
Mordo let out a howl of laughter, "This is your little army? They still need to learn in school."
"I learned plenty," Billy retorted back by letting out blue smokes flow in his hand. Suddenly, Mordo's eyes turned blue. Sylvie didn't know what he did to him, she turned to Wanda's son in confusion. But the boy didn't look at her back and instead, turned to his brother as if signaling something.
Tommy smirked and zoomed out of their view. Suddenly, the dark magician was pounded by an invisible silver force repeatedly, in the face, stomach, and every inch of his body. No matter how many times Mordo tried to recover, something seemed to hit him multiple times.
Sylvie had to blink a couple of times to realize that it's Tommy who was doing just that. She can hear the constant whoosh from the mischievous child, attacking Mordo with blinding speed.
Billy on the other hand was grinning, he then turned back and let out another blue energy. She followed his line of direction on what he's looking at, and before she knew it, the debris from the collapse gazabo began floating. Huge chunks of rocks and boulders flew towards the child slowly, as if ready for the signal to attack, and Billy quickly turned around, "Tommy, now!"
The assault stopped, Mordo began to recover quickly, and Tommy appeared at the other side of the field. When the dark magician realized the boy that popped out of nowhere, his eyes turned bright yellow of fury, "You…."
But Mordo couldn't finish his sentence when huge chunks of rocks and boulders slammed at him, raining down like a meteor on him.
Sylvie looked at Billy, who swiftly waved his hands like his mother did, raining down the debris and rocks on the dark magician. It's as if he was giving him no mercy, "That's for the nightmares you gave me!" and stuck his tongue out. She was impressed, Loki taught them both well.
Tommy zoomed to his brother's side and looked at Sylvie, "Come on! Let's get out of here!"
The Goddess of Mischief snapped out of her awe of the twin's skills, she remembered that Mobius was still injured. Quickly, she turned back and limped to her friend, who is sitting on the patch of burnt grass, holding his injured arm. Damn, she didn't realize the attack got him good, "Mobius," She cried as she kneeled by his side, "Are you alright?"
"Not out yet," he groaned in pain, his suit torn.
Sylvie pulled his other uninjured arm slowly around her neck, "We have to get you out of here," slowly, she did her best to get him up on his feet. Her own ankle isn't as painful as before, but what matters now is that Mobius is out of here and safe. But her own injury made it difficult for her to even hold him properly, she needed help, "Billy," she called.
The boy jogged to her side, like her, his red and white long sleeve shirt was torn, but not as bad as hers, "Yea?"
"Can you help me carry him outside?"
Billy nodded, the son of the Scarlet Witch let his blue magic flow and slowly envelope around Mobius, helping her to lift him up.
Mobius blinked when he realized he was slowly elevating, "Woa, neat trick, kid."
"Thanks," Billy beamed.
"Alright," Sylvie nodded, "Let's all head to the back door," then she turned to Tommy, "Tommy, I need you to get out of here. As fast as you can, and find your mother and Loki. We'll catch up with you later."
"But you can't get through it," Tommy chimed.
"I'll go as far as I can," she told him as they were getting out of the battle, "Once you are all outside, I need you to find your mother and Loki. They'll come and help us."
Tommy nodded, "Okay," then, the boy disappeared, leaving a gust of wind behind.
Just as they were about to continue to head to the gates, something grabbed her, yanking her off Mobius. She shrieked in surprise, trying to process what just happened. She can hear Mobius and Billy shouting her name. When she looked down, she saw her body is wrapped in dark sinister mist, restricting her movements and pulling her further away from her friends.
She struggled on the grip as best as she can but to no avail. Her eyes then caught the sight of a pair of yellow savage eyes, and sharp dagger-like teeth, "You are a fighter, I'll give you that," Sylvie found herself face to face with the possessed Mordo, his face looked a little bloody but otherwise, unharmed, "But all that for nothing."
"Get off me," she growled and tried to lift her arms up but the mist holding her back has an iron grip.
"How very feisty of you," Mordo dismissed her struggles, "I can see why they kept you alive."
"SYLVIE!" she can hear Mobius shouted for her.
Dammit, why are they still here? "GOOOO!" she shouted back before she gasped when the mist that restrained her tightened its grip, pumping the air out of her lungs.
"And the ever so noble goddess," he chuckled darkly, "I can release their shackles that they held upon you," and at that, Mordo waved his hand and suddenly, something appeared out of her chest, it was grey and orange that shaped like a lock. The moment that mystic material is completely out of her body, her body's immune systems immediately kicked in. She felt as if the wound on her arm was patching up, her concussions seemed to subsidize, and her injuries were sustained. What is this? "Do you see now?" Mordo hissed at her, "I can release you from your godforsaken prison, you are free to go wherever you want and wherever you please, and your so-called friends of the TVAs do not need to interfere every time you go anywhere," the dark magician's eyes then glowed and his pupils constricted, "I can bring you back to your mother, what you always wished."
Suddenly, she saw a familiar face from a distant memory. She was fair with long hair, but she couldn't determine the color as there is a bright light around her, and she gave her a soft smile. Her visions came back again, and she's face to face with the dark magician, "What was that? What did you do to me?"
"That was a memory of yours that I managed to pull out…"
At the mention of his act of invasion of her memories, something insider her burst into fury, along with her scream of frustration. She didn't realize she let out a blast of green energy and scattered the mist that restrained her.
Mordo looked surprised at her sudden outburst and backed off. Sylvie landed on her feet as the restrains gave away, her ankle is healed. But that didn't matter, this person just invaded her most precious memory and she's not going to let him get away with it, "Get out of my head," she growled.
The possessed magician only smirked demonically, "I am Nightmare," he sneered, "Nothing goes unhidden from my watch."
That did it. She immediately lunged at him, releasing a ball of green energy, and blasted at him, only for him to block her attacks easily. But she didn't care, she did all she could to inflict him any damage, giving him short-range combat, combined with her magic.
But Mordo-Nightmare held on, he summoned dark orange shields, the way Stephen Strange did and blocked her attacks.
Sylvie then switched her tactics. When she lunged at him, she concentrated all her powers into her hands, charging her magic there and fired, releasing a huge beam of hot energy. Of course, she knew that Mordo would block that, so she didn't waste any more time. By the time her last blast was off, she immediately charged at him and did a quick reversal, catching him off guard. The goddess of Mischief then gave him a hard hit on his head and kneed his back.
Mordo-Nightmare staggered at the impact, but she didn't just stop there. She gathered her strength and let her magic flow out of her, restraining him the way he did to her. But this time, she allowed her magic to circle around his neck and squeeze his windpipe.
Ah ah ah, you are going to repeat the same mistake again, a sinister voice in her head echoed. And it's not even her voice.
It was Nightmare!
Go ahead, kill me, he provoked, I was the one who caused you all this pain, didn't I?
Sylvie violently shook her head, "STOP TALKING! SHUT UP! ALL OF YOU!"
You can never kill me, dear Sylvie, the voice chuckled, I will always be alive in your mind, Nightmare laughed, Go on. Kill me. Release me from this imbecile of a magician.
If she kills him, they won't be able to interrogate the true culprit of this multiverse. And they'll all be back to square again. Just like before. She can't do that, not when Loki did all he could to keep her safe from the Midgardians after what she did. With a heavy heart, she loosens the grip of her magic.
"Fool," Another new voice behind her said, startling her.
Sylvie immediately turned back but before she could see who it was, something grabbed her neck and lifted her up. She thrashed and clawed whatever was grabbing her, her neck felt cold, something metal was choking her.
"You are late, Kang," Mordo-Nightmare hissed. Kang?
"Sorry, got caught up," Kang said sarcastically. Sylvie slowly opened her eyes to see this Kang, and found that this Kang to be absolutely lunatic. For this Kang has ridiculous armors on him. Did Loki and the others lose? "The magicians here called the Avengers," he then turned to Sylvie with a sick grin on his face, "Well, well, well, Sylvie Laufeydottir. I told you that we'll meet again, didn't we?"
Even gasping became difficult, this Kang has an iron grip on her. She couldn't even process what he just told her as breathing began to become way harder.
"This one is feistier than I thought," Nightmare-Mordo said, "But her powers are now back."
"Don't worry, I got her," Kang whistled, "You do your thing."
The possessed magician nodded, and he levitated himself to her eye level. He then lifted his hand and placed it on her head, "You chose this path, and now you'll earn the consequences of your choice," and at that, his palm began to glow.
Suddenly, her head felt like it was run over by a truck, and she screamed in pain. She had never felt such a headache in her life, and it's like her soul is trying to escape her body. Mordo was absorbing her power!
Sylvie tried to break free, she tried to use her powers but to no avail. The pain of her injuries is back again, and it's worst than before. Is she going to die?
"Give me….everything," Mordo hissed.
Sylvie screamed and screamed until her throat turned hoarse. It was too painful, her head is about to explode. She couldn't even think anymore, there's nothing she could do but allow whatever fate will befall her….
Until it came to a stop, but she didn't know what stopped him from going further before her visions went a little dark, and felt someone caught her midair.
Tommy didn't know where to start. Where did Mom go? All the magicians were fighting inside Sylvie's big cell, nearly everything is quiet. Oh, darn it, where could he start? Sylvie needs him to find Mom and Loki.
The least he could do is to find a first aid kid for that Mobius guy. The child zoomed to their room, where he vividly remembered a red box with a plus sign at the top. He rummaged through the wardrobe and checked under the bed, but was still unable to find any. He then zoomed to several rooms and ransacked them, but still unable to find any. Tommy felt like he became slow every time he zoomed into a room and didn't find what he was looking for.
Suddenly, his eye caught a wardrobe at one of the hallways. He immediately opened it and found it! Tommy felt a surge of small victory, this might help that Mobius to recover and find Mom!
Just as he zoomed out of the halfway, running across the training ground, he crashed someone big and tumbled to the ground together, dropping his grip on the first aid. The boy rolled on his side until he stopped by the small steps. Weird? He was sure he didn't see someone. What if it's another Kang?
Tommy quickly got up on his knee and scanned his surroundings to see who he crashed into.
And found Loki groaning on the ground, "What the hell was that?"
Tommy hadn't felt this much joy to see someone since his mother found him and his brother, he smiled so wide that his cheeks hurt, "Loki!"
"Loki," the voice of his mother followed, she came through a portal. No wonder he didn't see them coming, "Are you alright?"
The boy felt a surge of so much joy in his mom, he didn't even realize he was crying. He immediately dashed to her and gave her a fierce hug, "Mom!"
"Woah, easy there, tiger," his Mom said, she then cupped his cheeks and wiped the tears off his face, "Are you alright, baby? Where's your brother?"
Right! His joy turned to panic, "Mom! Mom! You've gotta get back to Sylvie's room! Someone attacked us there!" at the corner of his eyes, he saw Wong behind her too.
Mom's face turned fearful, "and where is your brother?"
"He's with Sylvie and her friend," he chattered as quickly as possible, "He's trying to get her friend out of the cell but, he was hurt."
When he said that, he heard Loki swore and ran to where Sylvie's room was.
"Come on, Tommy," Mom grabbed his hand.
He complied and followed her lead, he felt so much safer with her now.
Loki had never felt this much fear and rage in his life. He should've seen this sooner, and now, she is defenseless. He should've fought with that damn Strange for her freedom. That's why he found himself racing to get to Sylvie as fast as he could.
As he neared the entrance to the cell, he saw two people plopped on the floor. A child and a man, the man was sitting with his back against the wall while the kid was kneeling as he faced him. When he got closer, he realized it was Billy and Mobius!
The pair heard him running and saw him coming towards them, Billy waved his arm, "Loki!"
The God of Mischief immediately kneeled and slid beside his friend, "Mobius, why are you here?" he looked so beat up. How could that Mordo do this to a defenseless man?
His friend grabbed his arm like his life depends on it, "There's no time," he groaned, "Sylvie's still in there."
He wanted to leave, but Mobius looked like he needed a lot of attention, or he won't be able to recover, "But, you…"
"I'll handle it," Wanda caught up with him, alongside Tommy and Wong, "You go find Sylvie, I'll see to his injuries."
Loki nodded, "Thank you, Wanda."
"Wait, I wanna help," Billy stood up.
"Me too," Tommy skipped towards him, "We helped protect Sylvie just now, we can fight that magician again."
Impressive, he thought, but he can't let Mordo get the children too, "Boys, I need you to stay with your Mom. In case anyone attacks her."
"But the enemy is in there," Tommy pointed to the entrance of the cell.
"You came to me for help so that you can fight by your mother's side, well this is that moment now. Okay?"
"But…." he protested again.
However, Loki's patience wore thin, "just stay with your mother." And without a second thought, he barged into the cell door together with Wong, running past through the mist.
When he arrived in the mystic cell of Sylvie, the sight before him made him stunned. Here, the mystic of art magicians and the Minute Men are together, fighting a whole bunch of Kang robots and Mordos. Which is which?
And everything is on fire. The fields were set ablaze, the gazabo destroyed, and smoke was filling the area like wildfire. How could he let this happen?
"It's chaos here," Wong murmured, "He had caught us off-guard."
"Maybe not," Loki determinedly said, he won't let a mortal with a ghost get the best of him, "Come on, we have to find Sylvie." Wong nodded and together, they ran to the debris, hoping Sylvie that she isn't buried underneath them.
"I can't sense any source of life in the debris," Loki said. He didn't want to think of the worst on why he couldn't sense her…
Until an ear-piercing scream echoed the entire field, making them turn towards where the source came from.
And there, at the edge of the field, near the lake, stood two people. One of them was choking someone by the neck and the other levitated to their level. It didn't take a second for Loki to realize that the person who is being choked right in front before his eyes is Sylvie.
Without a second thought, he dashed towards them as fast as he could, pushing every being of himself. He then summons his blades, the weapons levitated behind him. With a motion of throwing off his hand, the blades charged right at Kang and, whom he presumed as Mordo.
Mordo saw it and immediately drove his attention away from Sylvie and conjured his own shield. His shield looked so similar to Strange's, but it was dark. And his eyes, it looked so demonic even he himself could tell that he was possessed.
Mordo smirked, "Well, well, well," he grinned, canine teeth gleamed under the light-filled with smoke, "The God of Mischief."
Beside him, Wong stepped forward, "You've changed, my old friend."
"Part of the change is growth," he replied.
"Except yours is going backward," Loki commented, he looked at Sylvie to see if she's alright. By the way she's gasping for air, she's alive, but not well. She looked battered and beaten, which boiled something inside him.
Mordo saw him eyeing Sylvie, "Ahh, yes. Which is why," he levitated behind Sylvie, motioning something to Kang that made him let go of her. The Dark Magician enveloped her with his dark magic and levitated above them all, "she is the key for me to go forward," he cupped her cheeks with his pointy slender, and disgusting fingers. Sylvie's eyes are closed and in pain, it looked like she was fighting for her life, "A feisty brawler she is, I now understand why Nightmare wanted her so badly too. She resisted every way she could from me to absorb her powers."
Loki couldn't stand him talking any further. Letting his energy flow in him, he released a burst of green energy to his head, nearly hitting Sylvie. Mordo didn't expect that and took the hit, it was a huge gamble. As he was hit, Mordo's magic seemed to disconnect from Sylvie, and she was falling to the ground.
"What the hell are you doing?" Even Wong was mad at him.
But Loki didn't hear it, he launched himself between her and the ground. And caught her before she could even crash. The gods tumbled on the ground and came to a stop as they both took a splash, thankfully the side of the lake they slid off to was shallow, only wetting their bottom.
Loki didn't even bother to check his own injury and adjusted Sylvie's position as he holds her back, "Hey, Sylvie. Sylvie!" he panicked, her neck was bruised, a hand mark left its print there. Small scars peppered her face, and her sleeves were torn, letting the world see her wound and scars. He looked back at Mordo and Kang, "What the hell did you want from her?"
Kang shrugged, "In my data, she's got cool powers to enchant anyone. Needed that."
"You wanted the Power of Wakening, not her," Loki growled.
"Yea, but that Red Riding Hood wasn't going to give in her powers, so I needed an alternative," he scratched his head, "then came this guy," he pointed at Mordo, who is fighting Wong. Loki didn't even realize that they both were having a stand-off while he was ensuring Sylvie didn't crash, "Told me a better way to do it, so I bought it."
Before he could spit back at him, he felt Sylvie twitch in his arms, driving his attention away from him and to the one he cared for the most, "Sylvie? Sylvie!" he shook her warily.
Her eyes slowly opened, "I feel like crap."
The fact that she can still throw out a wit made his sigh in relief, "Are you alright?"
Sylvie slowly nodded, "Good thing you were here quick," she tried to sit up, he pulled back a bit so that she can do that. She looked at him, "Where are the twins?"
"They are with Wanda," he assured her.
"Good," she began to stand up, and glared at Kang, "Because they wanted them."
"And you too," he added.
"Just realized why."
Kang was about to fire at them, and the two gods were about to prepare themselves for the coming attack…
Until another portal appeared. Loki thought that it may be another ambush, but it was Mordo who appeared and attacked Kang. He blinked, this must be Wong's doing because he did the same during their training too. Both Mordo and Kang collided and crashed to the ground.
Wong ran up to them, "Are you both alright? Sylvie?"
She nodded, "I'm fine."
"Alright," he the conjured a mystic art from his hand, "I'll break the seal that negates your magic…." He stuttered to a stop when he seemed to realize something, "It's not there?"
Loki furrowed his brows, "What?"
"Mordo took it out," she answered, "He wanted my powers, so he was the one who broke it." That explains why she was able to heal her wounds and recovered quickly it seems.
"Damn, I forgot that he knew that spell too," Wong cursed.
"Anything else we need to know about your friend so we can beat him?" Loki asked as his eyes are locked to their targets, who just recovered.
"The Ancient One managed to disconnect both Mephisto and Nightmare, that's why Mephisto now is still asleep, but Nightmare is just another part of his consciousness," Sylvie said behind him.
"Glad you were informed beforehand," Loki chastised, "You know anything about these ghosts, Wong?"
"The Ancient One should've put you to sleep for eternity," he stated to Mordo.
"She did," he smirked, speaking together with Mordo's voice, "But thanks to this gentleman, I can roam freely here. I do not need to worry whether someone would invade in my origin, and now," he floated above them, "I can kill you all."
"Or I'll kill you," Loki growled back, summoning his blades, ready to strike.
"Wait, don't!" Sylvie shouted, making him turn to her in confusion, "If you kill him, you won't be able to kill Nightmare!"
Loki turned back, "Mordo is the one who wanted to wake Mephisto! But he managed to reach his consciousness only."
"The more reason we need to kill him!"
"No!" Sylvie immediately cried out, "He is the genie in the bottle, if you destroy the bottle, he still won't die!"
"She's right," Wong added, "Nightmare now resides within Mordo, who seems to have gladly accepted him. If we kill Mordo, Nightmare will only go and find another host to possess, just like now," he bitterly said, "We can only capture him."
"Damn!" Loki was hoping that killing Nightmare means they get to kill Mephisto altogether. This ghost just had to go ahead and create a whole new identity of his own.
"That's right," Nightmare-Mordo laughed, hearing their conversation as if letting them uncover his secrets on their own, "The Ancient One didn't think that I'd be able to do that, but I knew when she was about to defeat me, I had to do something," he said, "I cannot be defeated, nor can I ever die. For I am from hell itself," he cackled sinisterly, "The Ancient One only erased my existence, but not my being. That's why I can now roam freely in this world without the fear that someone will come after me. Hence, my two new forms. I've waited for a thousand years for this moment, and it's finally here!"
"You ghost just can't stay in the underworld, can you?"
"I wanted Earth," he laughed, "Nothing more than that."
"Then screw you," Loki finally blurted, sick of hearing a ghost talk to him. He charged at Mordo and Kang, and swung his levitating blades at him, together with a burst of green energy from his body. Wong and Sylvie joined in, summoning their own magic to fight them off. The both of them face Kang whilst Loki specifically wanted Mordo on his own as he forcefully pushed him away from Sylvie. There's no way he's letting him absorb her powers.
"Pathetic," Mordo-Nightmare howled in laughter, as he and Loki danced in the air, switching blows after blows, "You are hesitant to kill me, you'll never be able to do that."
Shit, Loki cursed in his head, his only weakness is to defeat him in his origin. But not even anyone knows where it is. And even if they did find it, who's to say that he'll be way more powerful in their own place? The Ancient One didn't provide enough information about these two damn ghosts. "We'll just have to capture you and make you talk then," he chastised.
"I like to see you try," he smirked as he summoned a mystical whip, and aimed at him.
Loki waved his hand and his blade rushed to his front just in time to catch it from whipping him. He stood his ground to hold him off, not letting him go.
Just then, he could hear more portals opened behind him. He fearfully thought that it'd be more Kangs….'
Until a huge lightning bolt struck Mordo, throwing him off his balance and disconnecting his powers from him. As he was about to fall, he quickly got to his feet and landed smoothly with whatever powers were left during his recovery.
Loki too floated down gently and looked back to see what that was.
And found Thor and the others he fought with back at the Sanctum there, "Sorry we're late," he flew to his side.
"Better late than never," he said.
Wanda also appeared behind the portal as she flew swiftly towards the group, she turned to Loki, "Mobius is okay," she said to him, "He's at the TVA with the kids now."
Loki nodded in appreciation, "Thanks."
"Mordo," Strange walked beside him but looking straight at his old now corrupted friend, "I knew that it'd be you."
Mordo gave him a more sour face at the sorcerer, it's as if the person was able to take over the demon inside him, "I told you, Stephen," his deep demonic voice said, "The bill comes due."
"I really wish you didn't turn into….this," Strange summoned his Mystic shields, "We were great friends in the past. You taught me about all this magic stuff."
"Before we knew that we were lied," he replied angrily, "And now, you decided to pervert further this power you have, and chose to stop this."
"By attacking everyone?"
"A small price to pay, for the greater good," he smirked.
Kang then flew towards Mordo-Nightmare, "This ain't good," he said, "The magicians and time people here defeated our robots and illusions. And the Avengers are all here."
The Dark Magician hummed, "Then we'll have no other choice," he looked at them, "They left us with no other choice," he then walked towards them, his cape swaying behind him a litter higher even when there's no wind, "Any soul will do then."
The last sentence made Loki more alert, this means that they'll target anyone!
Mordo-Nightmare's body was suddenly enveloped with much darker magic, his shadow began to grow in size in front of him, it's like the shadow of a sunset, except that there is no sun. The shadow kept increasing in size until its form looked like another shape of a person, for this shadow looked like it has spiky hair, and his ear turned very pointy and sharp. This is definitely an entirely different person.
"That shadow," he can hear Sylvie murmured at the back, her voice was filled with fear, something he rarely heard from her, "It's Mephisto."
Nightmare-Mordo laughed sinisterly, "Now, that I have everyone here, I'll just have to take any souls to replenish my strength."
"We won't let you," Strange stated firmly.
"I'd like to see you try," Nightmare-Mordo cackled. Suddenly, his shadow began floating in the air, creating a huge hand. The hand suddenly strikes a sorcerer and dangled him in the air. Behind the Dark Magician, appeared a huge dark portal. The hand then threw that sorcerer into the portal and disappeared, replaced by a pair of huge eyes.
Loki heard a gasp from Strange, "That can't be…"
"Dormammu? Yes," the Dark Magician crossed his arm proudly, "You made a bargain with him not to return to Earth, and he upheld that part of the bargain. But no one said that he isn't allowed to appear through a portal while in the body of someone else."
"What do you mean by that?"
He smirked, "Dormammu was able to obtain Mephisto's body in the deepest part of the Dark Dimension, and right now, before you are the unconscious body of Mephisto," he looked back and spreads his arms, "But because Mephisto is still in a deep slumber, Dormammu can only use a small part of his being, sad."
"You bastard," Loki cursed in anger.
"Now," he swiftly turned back, "All of you can now be the strength for him to feed," and with a flick of his fingers, the portal began to yawn wider. And it began to absorb whatever it can fit in its mouth.
Loki and the others felt like they were pulled by a heavy gravity towards that portal, they all stood on their grounds, holding on.
"Everyone, we can't let him get us!" Strange shouted as he conjured his mystic whip and pierced it down the ground to hold him steady. Then, he summoned his shield to block the force that is pulling them.
Loki and the rest of the sorcerers did the same, one by one, they each created force fields of their own and helped everyone to hold on.
"Got any ideas to stop your friend, Strange?" Sam shouted.
"I'm working on it," Strange struggled.
"Well, work faster!" Bucky cried, "I can't even move properly like this."
"You cannot escape this power," Nightmare-Mordo boomed, Kang was protected beside him from the pull, "So long as you cannot bring yourself to kill me, and Mephisto resides in the Dark Dimensions, no one can stop me!" the fallen debris was beginning to get absorbed into the portal, "Once Dormammu pull you into the Dark Dimensions, he will take each and every one of your souls, while you can do nothing but watch as your life is snuffed out! Your lifeless body will only float aimlessly in the Dark Dimension."
Loki heard a yelp, and beside him, it was Sylvie who gave out. She slipped off her footing and was pulled by the invisible force. The God of Mischief quickly reacted, and managed to grab her hand, preventing her to be sucked into the portal, "Hold on!"
"Surrender, Sylvie Laufeydottir," Nightmare-Mordo howled, "You are only delaying the inevitable. In fact, because you are a god, your soul will be even enough to spare the life of the others here."
Something clicked in Loki's mind at the mention of soul. A soul can reside in another person's body, it can also stay in objects. Your lifeless body will only float aimlessly in the Dark Dimension. The bond of those two souls must be strong in order to awake again. This will be a long game, he looked at Sylvie's eyes. Only she can stop all this now, and he is confident that she'll do just that, "Sylvie!"
He pulled her as hard as he can and conjured a bubble for them both that could only last a moment. He quickly grabbed her shoulder, "Do you trust me?"
"What?"
"I said, do you trust me?"
"Of course," she didn't hesitate to say it, how could she not?
Loki nodded, then he conjured his dagger. Sylvie recognized that blade. For it's the same dagger he used to describe what is love to her that day in the train. His hand that holds on the dagger began to glow, and so did the dagger. Suddenly he was gasping hard as if wounded, making her confused. He then took her hand and placed the blade to her palm while looking at her with so much adoration, something Sylvie had seen it a couple of times, but this one looked like he is truly seeing even more about her, as if looking right to her soul, "I know that you'll find me," he murmured weakly.
Sylvie furrowed her brows, "What? What are you…" but she didn't get to finish her question as he pulled her to a deep kiss. She was so stunned at his sudden action, and for a while, she could just get lost in the war kiss and forget everything.
Then he pulled back hastily, "I love you, Sylvie," he finally confessed, making her eyes blow wide in shock. And at that, he conjured enough magic in his hands and, with the last strength of his power, he pushed her back until she's beside Thor. His brother managed to catch her arm. He sighed in relief that he had enough power to do so. Now, he'll know that she'll be safe.
"Loki?" Thor shouted at him, "What are you doing?"
The God of Mischief didn't have the strength to reply back. He could only suppress a smile to him before turning back towards Mordo and Kang. He could hear people calling for him, but it was dull and weak.
"You hope to be the one who sacrifices his life now? How noble of you," Nightmare-Mordo cackled.
Loki then used the last of his strength to conjure a mystic whip, the same way that Wong used to teach him and lashed at him. Mordo thought that he was trying to attack him, so he didn't expect it when it turned out the whip was aiming at his leg and tightened his grip, not letting him go.
The Dark Magician was confused, but he didn't have the time to process it as Loki was pulled by the invincible force from the portal, and at the same time, pulled Mordo along with him. Before Loki was nearly in the portal, he turned his body and threw a blade at Kang's helmet, ultimately shattering it. Which caught the Multiverse mastermind off guard.
Once he got through the portal and saw that it closed, he breathed a sigh in relief as his consciousness faded away.
"LOKIIII!" Sylvie screamed at the top of her lungs as she clutched his dagger. The portal closed, and the invisible force that was trying to absorb them all stopped. They could all move now.
But the portal vanished, along with Loki and Mordo.
Except for Kang, who looked just as starstruck as the rest of them as he saw the portal closed.
But Sylvie's shock turned to rage and anger, just like the time when she and Loki found Kang for the very first time. She quickly flipped the dagger around and, with a blinding speed, she charged at Kang.
The variant was caught off guard as the Goddess of Mischief slashed his helmet until it came off. Kang crashed to the ground and Sylvie lunged at him, kneeing his chest, ensuring that he won't escape her clutches. Then, with so much rage, she stabbed his chest armor multiple times in fury, ensuring that every single side of it is chipped off. She could hear people calling her but to her mind, she turned completely deaf. All in her mind lies revenge, and she didn't care if she'll kill him. He had ultimately brought the only person who ever loved her to his death door.
"Sylvie! Sylvie!" Someone called her and she can feel hands grabbing her shoulders, trying to stop her. But she shrugged them off quick and continued to destroy Kang's chest armor until it actually came off.
A strong hand then grabbed hers, "That's enough, Sylvie," with an iron grip, he pulled her to her feet and pulled her back away from Kang. She can see the others began to apprehend him and red mists quickly trapped his body, restricting his movements.
Sylvie struggled to get to Kang, "LET GO OFF ME, THOR!" She sobbed, she didn't even realize that she was crying, or that her heart ached so much.
Thor then pulled her to his metal chest armor and wrapped his muscular arms around her, "That's enough," he murmured to her softly, "Stop Sylvie. Please stop."
Sylvie, Stop.
The same plea that Loki told her in that void struck her like a bell. And then, everything began to sink in. Loki's gone. All that happened finally got her good. Her feet began to give away, and Thor picked up on it. They kneeled together and the God of Thunder continued to hold her close to him.
Sylvie's heart burst into a million pieces, and it struct a short circuit to her. She wrapped her arms around Thor's chest, and finally, for the first time in her entire life, she screamed in agony for someone dear she lost.
This chapter took me two weeks to create! Dangggg. I'll be honest, it's very very very difficult to describe fight scenes, but challenge accepted! That's why I missed my date to update, sorry. I tried, but work got in the way.
A few things I want to point out about this, I read where Kang is strong in his Iron suit like Iron Man's. But the strongest is his gun where it controls people. However, if I put that in this scene, it won't make sense because basically, he knew Mordo-Nightmare for the first time and learned about such powers. Because his other variants were defeated by Wanda, Loki, and Stephen, all magicians, he did all he can to stay immune to them. So, the concept of manipulation didn't occur to him yet.
And yea, Mordo knows how to release Sylvie in hopes that he can shift her side to him. After all, he was a student of the Ancient One.
I didn't put many scenes with the Avengers because our main guys are the trio magicians. As for Loki and Thor's double team, it's inspired from Kuroko no Basket: Last Game's tag team of Aomine and Kise. The same goes for the twins, I love to show a little mischief in them that Loki taught them for a while.
As for Sylvie, take note that she hasn't brawled for a long time since her arrest. So in this case, it's like she's harnessing her powers and finally able to break free. However, still weak because she hasn't fought for a while.
Dormammu was actually a last-minute put in because I thought it fits. After all, they are of a similar dimension, and it showed how dire the situation is. At first, it didn't make sense because Mordo fought him. However, since he's corrupted and followed the ways of Mephisto, is started to make sense that he would side again with Dormammu. At least, that's what I thought, what do you think?
And ohhh snapp! Did I just kill Loki? *Shrugs nervously as Kevin Feige points a sniper up my head.
So, what do you guys think? Let me know what you think of this chapter! This chapter actually took me a long long time to write, so… I'd like to know what you think about it. Was it too long? Did the fight scene make sense? Did ANYTHING make sense? Was it too harsh? Rushed?
Do let me know
With that said, hope you enjoyed it
"A worthy sacrifice," Nightmare floated in the Dark Dimension, looking at Loki hungrily, "A fine soul to feast."
Mordo looked at the demon with pride, "This is a fine soul indeed. The soul of a god."
"Yes," he raised his hand, "And soon, I will have enough strength for us both, to take back the Power of Wakening. That Scarlet Witch will never stand a chance against us."
The Dark Magician smirked, "Bon appetite, my liege," he gestured to Loki's body.
Nightmare waved his pointy and delicate hands and penetrates his body, searching for the soul. However, his hand felt like waving in an empty shell. He looked at Mordo in horror.
Mordo was confused, "What's wrong?"
"Where's the soul?" he whispered hastily.
"What?"
"WHERE'S THE SOUL?" The demon shouted.
"Is it not in there?" Mordo looked down at the god's body, he tried to sense the soul. But the demon is right, there's nothing in it. How did it escape? He looked at him, "It's not there. Where did it go?"
Nightmare didn't want to hear any more questions. One thing is for sure, God's soul is not in his body. He must've used that tactic to escape. He knew he should've taken the goddess instead. The demon lit in fury, teeth growling like a dragon, and his cape began to burn, "Curse you, Loki LAUFEYSOOOOONNNN!"
