Blue Jay's POV
I sat down on the sofa using my phone to try and check for a good gift to buy for Dick on his birthday.
There was only nine days left.
Nine days before Dick's birthday and I still haven't found a suitable present to give him.
Suddenly Batman's voice was heard on the loudspeaker causing my attention to move away from my phone screen.
"Robin, Blue Jay, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian, report for mission briefing."Batman ordered through the loudspeaker.
I frowned and simply shut my phone off before putting it away and head to the main cave.
It looks like getting Dick's birthday gift will have to wait.
A few minutes later, I stood with Miss Martian, Kid Flash, Robin and Superboy in the main cave, where Batman stood in front of a holo-screen.
"Rumaan Harjavti is the democratically elected president of Qurac."Batman explained. "Harjavti has been praised as a fair, wise leader. A humanitarian."
Another holo-screen popped up, this one showing a past newscast of Harjavti shaking hands with none other than Bruce Wayne himself.
"Sure."Kid Flash muttered sarcastically as he leaned down towards Robin and me. "Any friend of Bruce Wayne's."
"But five days ago, Harjavti allied himself with the dictator of the neighbouring nation of Bialya, Queen Bee."Batman added.
Superboy scoffed. "Not a fan."
"Few are."Batman admitted. "But Harjavti suddenly backs Queen Bee's baseless claim that Qurac and Bialya were one nation in ancient times. And has announced the countries will reunify in two days at a ceremony in Qurac."
Batman called forth another holo-screen and this one showed a recent newscast, likely from after Harjavti decided to ally himself with Queen Bee.
"After the ceremony, I will step down as president so that our rightful monarch, Queen Bee, may rule."Harjavti declared.
The broadcast then switched to a press conference in Al-Qawiyah, the capital of Bialya, where Queen Bee was making her own statement.
"I laud President Harjavti for unifying our peoples and I will gladly come to Qurac to be crowned sole leader of our nation."Queen Bee announced.
I frowned at Queen Bee's statement as I crossed my arms.
"And the Quracis are okay with this?"I questioned in disbelief.
"Hardly."Batman answered.
Then more holo-screens appeared in the air above the training circle that showed photos of varying protests from locations all over Dhabar, Qurac's capital.
"They're well aware of the brutality of Queen Bee's regime."Batman exclaimed. "But Harjavti has censored the press, silenced all legitimate protest and invited the Bialyan military into his country to enforce martial law."
"Queen Bee has to be controlling Harjavti."Robin insisted. "Doesn't she have the power to enthrall most men?"
"And some women."Batman added. "But not long-distance and we have confirmation she hasn't left Bialya. Something else is at work here. Find out what. Robin, you're Team leader."
My eyes widen in surprise while Robin appeared to be shocked.
Robin was undoubtedly one of the most qualified for the job since Aqualad was not with us at the moment.
"Promotion."Kid Flash remarked as he held up a hand for a high-five. "Sweet!"
"Me?"Robin said in awe. "What about Aqualad?"
"Busy helping Aquaman."Batman stated. "You're the next logical choice."
"Great."Robin muttered with a unhappy expression.
I looked at Robin quietly.
I know my boyfriend is trying to sound cheerful, but I could tell his heart wasn't really into the idea of him being the Leader of the Team.
"Dude, you totally left me hanging."Kid Flash reminded and still had his hand up for a high five.
Qurac

At about midnight in Eastern European Time, the Bio-Ship in camouflaged mode finally entered the airspace close to Qurac.
Or, more accurately, according to Robin, right above its border.
"We're right above the Quraci-Bialyan border."Robin declared.
"A border the Bialyans are in the process of ignoring."Kid Flash complemented.
I glanced towards where the speedster was looking in time to see a tank plow down a barbed-wire fence that had been erected in its path.
The barbed wire had to have been the border of some sort of paddock because I could see a herd of wildebeest grazing the field in front of the tanks, just before all of the animals bolted.
"No opposition."Superboy said. "Guess Harjavti really is in bed with Bialya."
"Wouldn't expect opposition here."Robin responded as he checked his wrist computer. "It's an animal sanctuary."
"The Logan Animal Sanctuary?"Miss Martian said.
I glanced at Miss Martian with a surprised expression.
"You've heard of it?"I asked.
"Guys, tanks have caused a stampede."Kid Flash declared. "With civilians in harm's way."
"I see them."Superboy stated. "Woman and a small boy."
"We have to help them!"Miss Martian insisted.
"We're way off mission here."Robin retorted with a frown.
"Robin."I spoke up causing my boyfriend to look me. "We can't just leave them."
"Fine."Robin sighed and looked at the others. "Deploy. But stealth mode. If the Bialyans know we hit them, this becomes an international incident."
Keeping the Bioship in camouflage mode, Miss Martian leveled an energy blast at one of the tanks causing it to explode and throw the Bialyan soldiers that were nearby onto the ground as the damaged tank rammed into another one as its engineer lost control.
Miss Martian flew the Bio-Ship through the smoke cloud resulting from the crashed tanks and opened a hatch on the bottom of the ship to allow Robin, me and Kid Flash to jump to the ground.
Robin threw one of his birdarangs to create another cloud of smoke to erupt between a group of soldiers.
I took down three of them with my whip and Kid Flash rammed himself into the other two by taking their guns and knocking the soldiers unconscious.
Superboy dealt with the stampede of wildebeest and grabbed the horns of one of the animals and forced it to the ground, making the other wildebeest diverge around him, the fallen animal and the two civilians, so they wouldn't all get hurt.
But, in the commotion of the wildebeest stampede, the oryx spooked and ran away from the civilians as a way to escape.
The oryx bolted straight into the stampede, but Miss Martian levitated it to safety before it get trampled by the wildebeest.
Finally, the stampede ended, the wildebeest running past the woman and her child across the rest of the paddock and putting them out of harm's way.
Robin and I landed just behind the woman and her boy as Kid Flash sped up next to them, tossing the soldiers' guns that he had confiscated to the side.
"Are you both all right?"Robin asked.
The boy got a wide grin on his face before he turned to his mother.
"Mum, Mum, Mum!"Garfield remarked in excitement. "We were just saved by Robin, Blue Jay and Kid Flash!"
"Superboy and Miss Martian helped too."Kid Flash added.
The boy ran forward and embraced the oryx as Miss Martian levitated it to the ground again.
Garfield rushed over to the Oryx.
"Oryx!"Garfield said happily.
I looked at the boy's mother as the woman walked up to the five of us.
"We diverted the Bialyans around the sanctuary."I stated. "You should be safe now."
"Uh, yeah."Kid Flash interrupted and glanced over his shoulder at where Miss M was hovering, still camouflaged. "Coast is clear, Miss M. You can de-camo now."
Miss Martian revealed herself and removed her hood, giving a shy wave to the two civilians that we just saved.
"Hi."Miss Martian responded with a shy wave.
"You may have made things worse."the woman stated. "Bialyan border crossings are a way of life here. Usually they wreck a few fences and move on. Engaging them might have made us a target."
"Mum."Garfield replied with a frown. "Uncool."
"I'm sorry. I should thank you."the woman commented before she began introducing her son and then herself. "This is my son, Garfield. I'm..."
"Marie Logan!"Miss Martian exclaimed before running forward a few steps before stopping herself suddenly. "I can't believe I'm actually meeting you in person! I've, uh...I've admired your stance on animal rights for years!"
I blinked in confusion.
How can M'gann have known Marie for so long when she has only been on Earth for six months?
Suddenly a wildebeest limped up to the group and held one front hoof in the air while giving a sad sort of noise.
"The oryx is sick and I think you injured this wildebeest."Marie said as she ran up to the wildebeest and glanced at Superboy.
"Uh...Sorry?"Superboy apologised.
"I suppose it was unavoidable."Marie complemented. "But both need to go to our clinic."
"Blue Jay and the boys can do that!"Miss Martian insisted as she clasped her hands together. "You and I can, uh, fix your fences!"
"That's not exactly..."Robin started.
Robin was cut off from explaining when Miss Martian turned around and gave the Boy Wonder a pleading look as Garfield did the same thing to his mother.
"Robin?"Miss Martian said.
"Please, mum?"Garfield begged.
Both Marie and Robin sighed before giving their responds.
"Fine."Robin and Marie said in unison.
"Yes!"Miss Martian and Garfield cheered in unison with exuberant grins on their faces.
Qurac

By the time me, Robin, Kid Flash, Superboy, and Garfield got the sick and injured animals into the Logan Sanctuary's veterinary clinic, the sun had rose up and it was already morning.
We begun to walk from the barn that housed the clinic to the small farmhouse where Marie and her son lived.
Suddenly there was a loud screech before a small monkey dropped down from the upper branches, jumping off of Superboy's shoulder before running onto Kid Flash.
"Hey!"Kid Flash shouted as the little monkey stole his protein bar. "Get it off!"
The small monkey stole Kid Flash's protein bar before leaping into Garfield's shoulder.
"Ha, ha, ha."Garfield laughed lightly. "It's okay. Meet Monkey."
"Good name."Superboy retorted with a frown. "But I hate monkeys."
Monkey suddenly threw the protein bar and the snack bounced off of Superboy's forehead, prompting the clone to let out a growl.
"Looks like Monkey hates Superboys."Robin replied with a smirk.
"Dude, be glad he only threw a protein bar."Kid Flash sneered.
I chuckled before walking forward and gently scratching Monkey's ears.
"I think it's cute."I stated with a smile.
My attention went on Garfield when I notice the young boy staring at me.
"Whoa, I can't believe I'm actually meeting Blue Jay in person!"Garfield remarked. "You're like one of my all time favourite heroes ever and your prettier in person too."
"Uh...thank you?"I said while sweat smiling.
"Just be careful that she doesn't peck you."Kid Flash joked. "Take it from me."
Kid Flash let out a laugh that was quickly stopped when Robin smashed his boot down on his foot causing the speedster to hop around on one foot.
I smirked at Robin with a greatful look before we followed Garfield into the living room of the farmhouse.
"So pretty weird about Miss Martian and my mum, huh?"Garfield asked.
"What do you mean?"Superboy questioned.
Superboy crossed his arms as the rest of us came in the living room.
Robin and Kid Flash sat down in the two armchairs while I perched myself on the side of Robin's chair.
"I mean she looks exactly like Marie."Garfield remarked. "You know, except greener."
"She does?"Kid Flash asked.
I titled my head as I came into my thoughts.
Now that I think about it, there was a certain amount of resemblance between M'gann and Garfield's mother.
"Well, duh."Garfield responded as Monkey began to chew on the shoulder of his shirt. "Especially back when Mum was a TV star on Hello, Megan!"
"Wait, Hello, Megan! is a TV show?"I questioned in confusion.
"I just thought it was something she said."Robin commented.
"Yeah, on the TV show."Garfield said. "Way before we were born. Only one season. You can't even find it online. I know mum has a tape somewhere."
Garfield glanced over at his TV's entertainment center, where me and the boys were able to see various dusty old VHS tapes stuffed into the shelves.
The young boy dove into the shelf, rummaging around the different tapes that were precariously situated inside and eventually found the tape he was looking for.
"Hello, Megan!"Garfield declared. "The pilot episode."
Garfield blew off the dust that had gathered on top of the tape over the years and slid the tape into the VHS player.
"Whoa, you still have VHS?"Kid Flash questioned. "Where's your eight-track?"
Just before Garfield could press 'play' on the remote, I suddenly felt alarmed causing my eyes to narrow a bit from behind my mask.
Something was coming.
"Wait."Superboy ordered. "Aircraft, headed this way."
We all ran out of the farmhouse while Robin had stayed behind, saying something to Garfield before he rushed out to join us.
Me and the boys paused on the porch as Superboy headed further out into the yard as Miss Martian and Marie walked up to us after they finished mending the fences that the Bialyans had destroyed the night before.
"What is it?"Miss Martian asked.
Then three airplanes appeared in the air at the far end of the sanctuary's property, heading towards us quickly.
When the gunfire started, Miss Martian shielded Marie and Superboy shielded his girlfriend from the attacks.
When the planes averted, Marie grabbed onto Superboy's shoulders.
"Where's my son?"Marie demanded.
"I ordered him to stay inside."Robin responded.
Marie gave Robin a glare.
"He's eight!"Marie admitted angrily. "He doesn't do orders!"
"Mum!"Garfield's voice called out.
All of us turned around to see Garfield in the barn house as he herd the sick oryx and injured wildebeest out with his arm.
"It's okay, I got the animals out!"Garfield assured.
Suddenly the aircraft suddenly started firing again and a gas tank that was on the side of the barn was hit, making it explode.
My eyes widen in shock as Garfield was thrown through the air.
"Garfield!"Marie yelled out.
Miss Martian quickly flew over, managing to catch Garfield before he hit the ground and delivered the young boy back to his mother as me, Robin and Kid Flash scrambled down the front steps to join them.
"I told you there'd be consequences."Marie retorted.
"Always."Robin murmured. "Let's get him inside."
Marie was able to carry her son back inside the farmhouse as me, Robin and Kid Flash followed her in while Superboy and Miss Martian destroyed the planes together.
Within a couple of minutes, Garfield was laying in his bed, head bandaged and he was hooked up to an IV.
Marie checked him over with a stethoscope with Robin and I hovering on the other side of the young boy's bed as Kid Flash stood in the doorway.
"He's in shock."Marie declared. "He needs a blood transfusion now. Is either of you O negative?"
"No."Robin answered as he activated his wrist computer.
"Sorry."Kid Flash and I said in unison.
"Neither am I."Marie admitted sadly. "It's the hardest to match. I kept a supply in the clinic."
"I can run him to the nearest hospital."Kid Flash suggested.
"The nearest hospital with a blood supply is half an hour away at your top speed."Robin explained. Longer by Bio-Ship."
"He doesn't have that much time."Marie said nervously and looked at me. "What's Superboy's blood type?"
"He's Kryptonian."I declared. "And Miss Martian..."
"Might be able to help."Miss Martian added as she walked up to Garfield. "My shape-shifting occurs at the cellular level. I think I can morph my blood to match his."
"Please, try."Marie instructed.
"I'll need to concentrate."Miss Martian ordered. "No distractions."
Marie looked at me and the boys.
"Out."Marie ordered. "All of you, out."
Me, Robin, Kid Flash and Superboy all headed out of the room before Marie closed the door.
The four of us migrated into the living room again, where Robin flopped down into an armchair and put his head in his hands.
"And on top of all this, Harjavti steps down tomorrow...subjecting all of Qurac to this danger."Robin stated and looked at Kid Flash. "KF, can you find a news station?"
"Sure."Kid Flash replied while holding three different remotes in his hands. "Which remote is it?"
Since Kid Flash didn't know which remote to use, he started the video tape instead and the opening of Hello Megan! began.
My eyes widen in amazement.
Megan Wheeler, the main character of Hello, Megan!, looked exactly like Miss Martian and shared her mannerisms.
"Maybe it's a coincidence."Superboy suggested.
Me, Robin and Kid Flash looked back at the TV and we hear that Megan's boyfriend in the series was called Conner.
We looked at Superboy, who appeared to look a little bit miffed.
Kid Flash smirked at me and Robin.
"Oh, yeah, pure coincidence."Kid Flash whispered smugly.
"It's done."Miss Martian stated as she came in. "All we can do now is wait."
Kid Flash accidentally tossed the remote he was holding into the air in his haste to turn off the Hello, Megan! episode before Miss M realized what had happened, only for our martian friend to glance at the TV.
"My fellow Quracis..."Harjavti started.
"Is that Harjavti?"Miss Martian asked.
"...Queen Bee's rule is a gift to Qurac."Harjavti declared.
"Hey, that guy in back."Superboy responded. "I know him."
I looked at Robin as he pulled up his holo-glove and zoomed in on the spot Superboy had indicated.
"It's Psimon."Miss Martian answered. "The psychic we fought last time we were in Bialya. He was working for Queen Bee then. He must be controlling Harjavti for her now."
"I still remember the headache from when he brain-blasted us."Kid Flash muttered.
"We have to get Harjavti away from him."Robin insisted.
I nodded in agreement before Marie walked up behind the five of us.
"I think it worked."Marie replied. "Garfield's stable."
"Good."Robin said simply. "Because we have our mission."

Me and the Team were in the air vent that was above Rumaan Harjavti's office at the capital in Dhabar, waiting for an opening where we could get the president out and to safety.
Robin quietly scanned the area with his wrist computer before looking at us.
"Harjavti's alone."Robin declared.
Robin, me, Kid Flash and Superboy jumped out of the shaft and dropped down to the floor of the President's office, while Miss Martian in camouflage mode slowly levitated herself down.
Robin and I walked around the side of Harjavti's desk, to see the President sitting with his back turned to the door, staring listlessly out the window.
Harjavti seemed calm, but somehow not quite himself.
"Where's my daughter?"Harjavti asked. "Where's Psimon?"
"Forget him."Robin answered firmly. "Let's get you out of here."
Suddenly Bialyan troops arrived armed with Apokoliptan weapons and surrounded us.
"Well, well, American heroes, here to assassinate the president."the soldiers' commander said. "Such a shame we arrived too late to stop them."
"Those are Apokaliptan weapons."I warned with a glare.
"Which they'll use to kill Harjavti, we get blamed and Queen Bee gets to rule Qurac."Robin commented. "Form up around the president."
"I've found Psimon."Miss Martian admitted.
Miss Martian flew past the soldiers and went out of the door.
"Wait!"Robin protested.
"I'll get her."Superboy assured.
"No!"Robin argued. "The mission is Harjavti!"
Me and Robin stood back to back before we worked together take out the soldiers that were around us.
Kid Flash used his speed to fight the soldiers while Superboy punched and knocked out the remaining ones.
Once we easily took out the Bialyan soldiers, a woman known as Noor showed up and held Harjavti, who was her father.
"Thank you for saving my father."Noor thanked. "We will take care of him now."
Me, Robin, Superboy and Kid Flash exited the office and went down the same hallway M'gann had several minutes before.
"M'gann!"Superboy called out. "We're coming!"
Suddenly, a big amount of pain exploded from every corner of my brain causing me to groan at the unbearable feeling.
Then I collapsed on the ground and my vision went black.
A while later, my eyes slowly fluttered open and I stood up, just in time to see the others wake up as well.
"And there's the headache."Kid Flash muttered.
"Psimon?"Robin asked.
Miss Martian looked down at her feet for a moment before glancing up again.
"He brain-blasted you."Miss Martian said simply. "I stopped him."
I followed Miss Martian's gaze and we saw Psimon laying catatonic amongst a pile of broken glass and chairs.
"Wow."I sneered. "You sure knocked him out good."
Miss Martian didn't say anything and gave me a small smile.
I don't know why but I had the feeling Miss Martian wasn't telling the truth or was hiding something from us.
Regardless, I doubted that she was one that knocked me and the boys out cold.
Dhabar

"What do you mean the President won't see me?"Queen Bee demanded when she was stopped by two Quraci soldiers. "He invited me!"
"Not of my free will!"Harjavti shouted from his balcony with his daughter Noor at his side. "No! But, now that I am free of your minion's thrall, the Quraci people will never suffer your tyrannical rule!"
The civilians that gathered around the entrance gave loud cheers at their freedom from Queen Bee.
"Mark my words, Harjavti!"Queen Bee snapped as two soldiers began to lead her away. "You will suffer for this. Qurac will be mine!"
Me, Robin, Kid Flash, Harjavti, Noor and Superboy were inside the president's now-destroyed office, when the door opened and Queen Bee walked through.
Of course, it wasn't actually Queen Bee.
Miss Martian had shape-shifted into the villainess to give the Bialyans and Quracis proof that the ruler of Bialya was the one behind Harjavti's sudden willingness to ally himself with her.
Although there was a moral ambiguity in the plan, it had worked.
"Sorry you had to lie to everyone like that."Robin apologised as he walked forward. "But, I couldn't think of any other way to convince the public that Queen Bee was behind this."
"Dude."Kid Flash chuckled as he lightly punched his friend in the shoulder. "Saving a country. Pretty big win for your first turn as Leader."
"Yeah."Robin answered with a unsure look as he rubbed the spot where KF had hit. "Thanks."
I stood on Robin's other side before leaning forward and pressed a kiss to his cheek causing him to blush a little.
"You did a great job, Bird Boy."I responded with a smirk. "Don't worry."
A small smile crept on Robin's face.
"Thanks, Jay."Robin answered. "That means a lot."
Qurac

By the time the five of us returned to the Logan Animal Sanctuary, Garfield had woken up and was looking much better.
Me and the Team along with the Logans watched the TV which showed Bruce arriving to offer the Wayne Foundation's assistance in restoring Qurac.
"And I assure you, the Wayne Foundation is here to do whatever it can to help you and your people rebuild Qurac."Bruce assured.
I smiled as I watched my dad shake hands with Harjavti before Marie put the TV off.
"Geez, Bruce Wayne sure got here fast."Kid Flash complemented. "Almost like he knew-"
Robin rammed his elbow into the KF's abdomen causing the speedster to stop talking from revealing the real identity of Batman with his big mouth.
"Don't you have a souvenir to collect or something?"Robin asked.
Kid Flash grinned before bopping his palm off his forehead.
"Hello, Megan!"Kid Flash exclaimed before running over to the entertainment center and grabbing the VHS tape from earlier and holding it in front of Miss Martian's face. "Something you'd like to tell us?"
Miss Martian glanced at all of us before letting out a sigh.
"Growing up on Mars was not a happy time for me."Miss Martian explained slowly. "But, I started watching the broadcasts my uncle sent from Earth, to teach us about our sister planet? When I saw Hello, Megan! something just clicked. Maybe it was the similarities in our names; maybe it was the way all of Megan's problems could be solved in twenty-two minutes. All I know for sure is, that Megan helped me smile through a lonely childhood. So..."
Miss Martian glanced at Marie.
"When I came to Earth and had to adopt a human form, I chose you."Miss Martian admitted honestly. "Well, Megan."
From our spots next to each other across the room, Robin and I exchanged a glance with each other before looking back at our Martian friend.
"Which, begs the question, what do you really look like?"Robin asked gently.
Miss Martian still looked a bit self-conscious, but after a moment, she stood up from her seat and walked to a spot in the room where all of us were able to see her.
Then Miss Martian's hair disappeared, leaving her head bald and her brow bones jutted out above her eyes.
Now she looked more similar to her uncle J'onn.
"Bald M'gann."Kid Flash commented smugly. "Still hot."
I rolled my eyes at Kid Flash as Superboy walked up to Miss Martian and held her hands.
"You know you don't have to put on a mask for me."Superboy declared.
"I do it for me."Miss Martian answered sadly as she reverted back to her Megan look. "This is who I am inside. Please don't be mad."
Marie smiled at Miss Martian.
"Mad? I'm honoured."Marie answered with a smile. "M'gann, you saved my son. He says he's your blood brother now, and I agree. You're family."
Miss Martian smiled and walked across the living room to hug Garfield's mother.
"Thank you."Miss Martian thanked gratefully. "You can't know what that means to me."
I smiled at Miss Martian before taking out my mini laptop and saw a message in it.
But when I finished reading the message in my head, a completely stunned expression grew on my face.
"Are you okay, Jay?"Robin asked with a confused look.
"Yeah, a message from Batman."I answered and closed my mini laptop. "But it is something personal."
It was too personal.
Batman has found my mum and she wanted to meet me.
