Hey, everybody. Back with another chapter.
So, this will feature the Americans sending their embassy to Valinor. Let's get to it.
Guest: I've never watched anime, except Pokemon, so no, its not based on any anime.
Natsim234: You touched on a good point. In this story, Trump will actually be re-elected froa second term because the war will still be going on. And before anyone gets all in a tizzy because I'm projecting political views, I've done the same thing before in another story, where I actually had Obama elected to an emergency third term because of a massive war.
Chapter 2- Embassy
(March 4, 2017)
On the lawn of the White House, Manwe and Ingil wait for their guests to join them. It's the day after President Trump approved the embassy to Valinor, and they are supposed to depart any moment now.
Turning towards the entrance to the White House, they see the two appointed ambassadors approaching. The one in front is Secretary Tillerson. The second is a US Army colonel by the name of Fred Rasmussen, who will be doing a military analysis of the situation.
"Welcome, gentlemen. Now, we are ready to depart," Manwe says.
"Okay. So, how does this work?" Tillerson asks in reference to travelling to Valinor.
"Quite simple. All that must be done is walk through the breach, and we will emerge in Valinor," Ingil says.
"Oh. Okay," Tillerson says, clearly having anticipated something more complicated, and also concerned that if it is in fact so easy, that this Morgoth that Manwe described may be more easily able to attack America through these breaches.
Manwe walks towards the breach and disappears through it, Ingil following a second later. Tillerson and Colonel Rasmussen exchange a glance before steeling themselves and walking through the breach.
After the unnverving experience of passing through the breech, they emerge in Valimar. The two bend over a bit to recover their senses, then straighten up. As they do, their eyes widen, and they stare at the beautiful city.
"Whoa," Tillerson says in awe as he and Rasmussen stare.
"Welcome to Valinor, gentlemen," Manwe says. He then gestures to Ingil and says, "Ingil will guide you in a tour of the city. I must speak with my fellow Valar. When it is time, Ingil will bring you before us."
"Very well," Tillerson says.
"Follow me, gentlemen," Ingil says as Manwe leaves for the Ring of Doom. He leads them down a street and begins pointing out different features of the city.
Eventually, they reach a very large and grand house. "This is the home of the King of the Vanyar Elves, my father, Ingwe. He wishes to host you for supper," Ingil says.
"That would be nice. I was just beginning to think I'm a bit hungry," Tillerson says.
"Well, then it seems this was perfect timing," Ingil says with a bit of a smile.
The two enter the house, and are instantly in awe at the architecture and decoration. However, they hardly have any time to really take it in before Ingwe himself steps forward with a brilliant smile and says, "Welcome to my home, Americans. It is a pleasure to have you here." He steps forward to shake their hands, knowing that is the customary manner of greeting in America.
Tillerson and Rasmussen both shake Ingwe's hand. Ingwe then invites them into the dining room.
As they sit down, several Elves bring in food and set it down in front of them. At the same time, several musicians are playing on the far side of the hall.
"It is an honor to have you visiting our home," Ingwe says with a bright smile.
"It's our pleasure to be here, your majesty," Tillerson says with a tone of great respect.
"There is no need for such formality. You may refer to me as Lord Ingwe," Ingwe says.
"Of course, Lord Ingwe," Tillerson says.
As Ingwe takes a bite of his food, he asks, "Tell me again why you have come to Valinor."
"Our President, President Trump, asked that several Americans came to this world to confirm the story told to us by Lord Manwe and your son Ingil. He wished to have confirmation of the story and that it was not a creative invention before deciding whether or not he would commit troops to your war against Morgoth," Tillerson explains.
"Quite understandable. What do you think as of now?" Ingwe asks curiously.
"From what we've already seen, I'm becoming more and more convinced. We'll still need a little more information before I can make a call on the truthfulness of the story," Tillerson responds. Ingwe simply nods in response.
Ingwe continues his discussion with his two American guests, trying to learn more about the culture of America. The dinner and discussion last for almost two hours before Ingil says they have received the summons from the Valar to the Ring of Doom.
Tillerson and Rasmussen follow Ingil out of the house and along the streets of the city to the Ring of Doom, explaining more things that are visible along the way, and sharing the story of the Elves from their first awakening to the present, as well as explaining some of the difference between the three groups of the Eldar.
Finally, the trio reaches the Ring of Doom. As they prepare to enter it, Ingil says, "Consider yourself lucky, Men. Never before has anyone without a drop of Elvish blood set foot in the Ring of Doom. This is an honor you should not take likely."
The two men nod. Then, Ingil leads them into the Ring of Doom.
Tillerson and Rasmussen stare in awe as they catch sight of all the Valar sitting upon their thrones, towering over them. Neither of the men have ever felt so small.
"Welcome, Secretary Tillerson and Colonel Rasmussen," Manwe declares.
Thinking it appropriate, the two men bow slightly before Tillerson says, in a far more formal tone than he's used to, "Greetings, Lords and Ladies of the Valar. It is our honor to be here today."
"Are you impressed with what you have seen so far?" Orome asks.
"Yes, Lord Orome. Very much so. Everything we have seen has been as magnificent as previously described and then some!" Tillerson says in praise.
Several of the Valar smile. Then, Manwe speaks up again and asks, "Now that you have seen our city, what questions do you have further? What further evidence do you require to take back to your leaders?"
"If you can, please tell us what caused your enemy, Morgoth, to begin his conquests," Rasmussen asks.
"Of course," Manwe says, and he begins to explain Morgoth's history, starting with some details of his existence before the war and what happened to cause him to go rogue, and what caused him to descend further into evil.
The Valar then explain in some detail the various wars they experienced with Morgoth prior to his captivity, and then explain the source of the current war with Morgoth; his deceit that he had reformed; the Silmarils; Morgoth's theft of them; Feanor's oath; the Flight of the Noldor; and the fighting between the Free Peoples and Morgoth in Beleriand.
When they come to the end of their explanation, Tillerson and Rasmussen stand there in silence for several moments before Tillerson finally says, "I saw the husks of the trees earlier, so I'll say that I believe the story. However, if possible, is there a way we can see Morgoth's forces to see for ourself that the story is definitely true?"
The Valar are quiet for a second before Manwe says, "Yes. I think we could do so."
(Hours later, Taniquetil)
"Geez, it's freezing," Tillerson says, shivering despite the heavy coat provided to him by some Elves.
"No kidding," Rasmussen says.
"My apologies for the temperature. It is from this peak I am able to look out over all of Middle Earth," Manwe says.
"So, you brought us up here to see out over Middle-Earth?" Tillerson asks.
"Yes. When I look out over Middle Earth, I can share what I am seeing with others. I never have, save with my spouse, Varda, for I have never needed to. However, in this case, I make an exception. Come, step up here besides me," Manwe says.
Manwe steps up onto a crag of rock. As best they can, Tillerson and Rasmussen climb up beside Manwe. Looking out, they are in awe at what they can see.
"Wow. This is quite a view. I've never seen so far," Tillerson says.
"It's beautiful," Rasmussen says in a soft voice.
"Yes. However, your vision is contrained by your limitations as Men. Now, let me show you…what I can see," Manwe says. He then reaches out and touches the temples of Tillerson and Rasmussen with one finger each.
Instantly, Tillerson and Rasmussen gasp as their vision suddenly seems to zoom outwards, racing over the water and over the coastline. They are in awe as they see the lands of Beleriand, most of which are of great beauty, but with many marred by the damages of war.
Then, Manwe directs their vision northwards. And the two men watch in shock and horror as a small army of Orcs lays waste to a settlement of Men. Men, women, and children flee in terror as the Orcs set fire to their homes and cut down anyone they can reach. They are horrified as they watch several Orcs torment a young boy lying wounded on the ground, cutting him over and over with their swords before finally beheading him
Finally, Manwe directs their vision northwards towards Angband. They watch in stunned silence as they see the vast hordes of Morgoth's armies, numbering in the hundreds of thousands, with the massive peaks of Thangorodrim rising in the distance.
Finally, Manwe removes his fingers from their temples, and the two men collapse to their knees, overwhelmed by what they just saw. It takes them a few moments before they are able to compose themselves and slowly regain their feet.
"I apologize for the undesirable effects of such an experience," Manwe says.
"It's okay," Tillerson says, still in shock at what he witnessed. He is silent for a few moments. Then, he says, "I can safely say that I've seen enough to convince me. When we return to DC, I will do everything I can to convince President Trump to commit the United States to this war." Rasmussen nods in agreement. Both men are highly shaken by what they saw in the settlement of Men, and determined to stop it from continuing.
And, I'll end there. Hope this was a good chapter.
So, now Tillerson and Rasmussen have been convinced. Now they just have to convince Trump. The discussion with Trump, and the initial decision will take place next chapter. After that, things will start to pick up before the US commits fully.
Also, in my fanfictions, I like to do fan castings for roles, and I do sometimes take suggestions instead of picking on my own. Let me know what your fan castings would be for the Arda characters we've already mentioned.
Next chapter should be up soon. Until then, leave a review, and stay tuned!
