Chapter 27: The New Robin

Gotham City

September 6th, 11:32 EDT

Blue Jay's POV

I stood with Batman and Robin II (Jason) in a building that was near the Gotham Museum, which was where the Riddler and his goons were.

Robin II wore a red tunic with green short sleeves, a cape that is black on the outside and yellow on the inside, full green leggings, black jika-tabi boots and green gloves. There was a yellow 'R' symbol on his chest and a matching belt that contained his weapons. A black domino mask was on his face to cover his eyes.

For my hero outfit, I no longer wore a skirt but long black trousers with white and black patterns on it and long dark blue boots. Also, my dark brown chest-length hair was wavy and partially curled. The straight cut bangs and short forelocks framed my face and there was deep blue ombre covers the lower half of my hair.

Batman and I fired our grappling hooks while Robin jumped off landing building to building as we headed to the top of the Gotham Museum.

"Whoo!"Robin shouted excitedly.

Robin crashed through the glass window on the roof and landed into the museum.

"You guys having a party?"Robin asked as he took down a few of the goons.

I jumped down and used my whip to whack away a nearby goon against the wall as Batman punched away the one that was going to hit Robin.

"I guess our invite got lost."Robin chuckled.

"It's over, Riddler."Batman stated.

Riddler glared at us and started to make a run for it as three more of his goons came to distract us.

I quickly moved away from being hit by the goon, who was firing arrows at me with his crossbow and threw my electronic birdarangs to knock him out cold.

Robin did a big jump to go after the Riddler, only to have his legs tied by a lasso held by the second goon.

However, the new Boy Wonder cuts the lasso on his leg with his batarang before it went taut.

Batman grabbed the second goon and I punched the third one as Robin blocked the Riddler's escape route.

"Riddle me this!"Robin remarked."What's green and purple but covered in red and yellow?"

The Riddler tried to hit Robin with his staff, but the Boy Wonder kicked him in the gut which send the villian off the stairs and land hard on the ground.

Robin landed on the Ridder and smirked at him.

"You!"Robin chuckled. "When I land on your sorry butt!"

I shook my head while smirking at Robin as Batman spoke in his comlink.

"Alright, Robin. That's enough."I complemented. "You need to save your energy for later on."

"I know, Jay."Robin responded and went off the knocked off villian. "It's just awesome being in the hero life."

My smile shrunk a little at Jason's words.

The hero life is awesome, but I just hope he can manage the way Batman works.

Mount Justice

September 6th, 12:17 EST

Blue Jay's POV

"Recognised: Blue Jay: B-00."the computer's voice announced. "Robin: B-13."

Me and Robin walked inside the cave while talking to each other.

When Jason was introduced as the new Robin to the Team, everybody were surprised and unsure of his appearance at first but they soon accepted him after seeing the skills he had despite his young age.

"So what was your real dad like, Emma?"Robin asked.

"I actually never met him, Jason. But Keiko said my dad was charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome."I exclaimed as I rubbed the back of my neck. "I honestly feel uncomfortable when I think about his personality."

"He sounds like a guy who was interested in attracting girls. No offence."Robin commented.

"None taken."I assured simply. "He didn't sound like someone to look up to either."

Me and Robin ended our conversation when we joined up with Kid Flash and Artemis.

"Hey!"Kid Flash greeted. "What's shaking peeps?"

I rolled my eyes while Robin covered his mouth to mute his laughter as Artemis frowned at her boyfriend.

"Peeps? Really?"Artemis asked with a frown and looked at us. "He didn't have pancakes today."

"What? It's been so boring lately."Kid Flash complained. "There hasn't been enough mayhem since-"

I narrowed my eyes at Kid Flash causing him to quickly to think of another sentence to come up with.

"Just for hoping for a little mayhem, you know?"Kid Flash said. "Maybe for a little global anarchy."

My face softened and let out a sigh.

"I would like that as well, KF."I admitted.

Suddenly Red Tornado walked up to us.

"I have received a communique from Batman."Red Tornado declared. "Gather the rest of the Team. You are heading to Colorado."

Salt Flats

September 6th, 13:31 MDT

Blue Jay's POV

Me, Robin and the rest of the Team were sent to Salt Flats, Colorado by Red Tornado, where Psycho-Pirate managed to steal a canister of plutonium.

Psycho-Pirate used his Medusa Mask to control the plant's workers and security, and give them an intense hate for the Team.

But we weren't going to let innocent civilians stop us from confronting the villain.

"I think it apropos, don't you?"Psycho-Pirate cackled. "The Psycho-Pirate plundering plutonium!"

"Maybe he should change his name to 'Alliteration-Doofus' instead of Psycho-Pirate."Kid Flash suggested.

"His totally a doofus that's for sure."Robin chuckled.

"This makes no sense."I said with a frown. "Why would he want plutonium?"

"I don't know."Kid Flash responded. "To build a bomb?"

I shook my head and took out my mini laptop to check for information.

"Impractical for Psycho-Pirate."I exclaimed. "Not his M.O."

"M.O?"Superboy said in confusion. "What is an M.O?"

"M.O is Modus Operandi."Aqualad replied. "It means it's not what he usually do."

The workers controlled by Pyscho-Pirate started rushing towards us causing me and the Team to immediately fight back as I quickly placed away my mini laptop.

"I will take one and all comers who wish to take my prize away from me!"Psycho-Pirate sneered. "Come and face the power of Medusa Mask!"

"Yeah, real tough guy when he's got all between him and us!"Kid Flash commented.

Artemis used her net arrows to capture the civilians heading towards her, Miss Martian used her powers to knock them out while me, Aqualad, Superboy and Robin faced them in hand to hand combat.

"These people really hate us!"Artemis said.

"It's an effect of Psycho-Pirate's Medusa Mask!"I stated as I kicked a worker away and punched away the one approaching me from behind. "He's able to control emotions with it!"

"He's making all of these people hate us, but it's not their fault!"Miss Martian declared. "Try not to hurt them!"

"If this plutonium is so dangerous, it must be our first priority!"Aqualad admitted. "Kid Flash?"

"On it, so fearless leader!"Kid Flash answered.

"Be careful not to break the container or we're all going to be exposed by radiation!"I warned.

Kid Flash zoomed towards Psycho-Pirate to grab him.

"You seem like such a speedy fellow."Pyscho-Pirate clarified with an evil smile. "Fast yes, but faster than the speed of thought? I don't think so. You strike me as the anxious type. I wonder what makes you anxious?"

Kid Flash grabbed Pyscho-Pirate, only to drop on his knees and appear to be in an emotional trance.

"Kid Flash!"Artemis called out.

"Ooh! That was so easy!"Psycho-Pirate laughed. "Let's see what we can do for others!"

Pyscho-Pirate looked at the rest of us and the next thing I knew I dropped on my knees as I got lost on my thoughts.

I began thinking about Batman and how took an abandoned child under his wing.

A child that was brought into this world by a kind but naive woman who realised until too late that her marriage was a sham.

I thought about my relationship with Dick and working with the Team.

Batman is not afraid of anything, but I am afraid deep down and sometime struggle to tell others how I feel sometimes.

Am I a person worthy to be Blue Jay? The Girl Wonder?

But if I do mistakes will that Batman won't need me anymore?

If he trusts me, then why does he keep secrets from me?

And I am a good girlfriend to Dick? Then why didn't I-

I suddenly snapped out my trance state and rubbed my head when I saw Kid Flash has thrown mud at Psycho-Pirate's mask freeing me, our Team members and the workers from its spell.

"No! My mask!"Psycho-Pirate shouted while holding his face. "I can't see!"

"Kinda figured your powers would stop controlling everyone's emotions when you weren't wearing the mask."Kid Flash remarked and quickly caught the canister of plutonium. "And I'll be taking that irradiated hunk of rock out of your hands!"

Kid Flash continued running only to get confronted by Psycho-Pirate's contact, Atomic Skull, who arrived to take over.

"I'm terribly sorry, but that is not yours to take."Atomic Skull stated.

"Atomic Skull!"Kid Flash panicked.

"I doubt a non believer in the half life such as yourself would have need for such a thing.

"Uh-uh, skully!"Kid Flash shouted as he zoomed away. "If you're Psycho-Pirate that means we play keep away!"

Atomic Skull sent a green blast at Kid Flash with his helmet and the speeder dropped on the ground.

Atomic Skull picked up the canister as Pyscho-Pirate went up to him.

"I sincerely do apologise, little one."Atomic Skull commented. "But the item contained in this canister goes a long way towards the enlightenment of many others!"

Me, Robin, Aqualad, Miss Martian, Artemis and Superboy immediately rushed towards Atomic Skull after we completely recovered from Psycho-Pirate's spell.

"You're not going anywhere!"Aqualad shouted. "Especially if we have something to say about it!"

Robin immediately kicked Pyscho-Pirate away from coming to us as I glared at Atomic Skull.

"We can't let him open that canister!"I warned. "Atomic Skull uses plutonium to power his own energy! Not to mention all the radiation it will release!"

"I am there is nothing you can do."Atomic Skull stated grimly.

Aqualad blasted water on Atomic Skull's face before looking at Superboy and Miss Martian.

"Superboy! Miss Martian!"Aqualad shouted. "Go! I'll distract him!"

Superboy rushed forward and punched Atomic Skull in the jaw before Miss Martian changed her hands into vines to grab Atomic Skull and threw the villain into the entrance of his ship.

I threw my birdarangs at Atomic Skull while Robin threw his small bombs and Artemis unleashed her arrows.

Atomic Skull fired blasts at the three of us, but we immediately jumped out of the way.

The ship started to take off as Atomic Skull blasted Superboy away to prevent the clone from following.

"His get away!"Robin shouted.

"We can't let him go!"Artemis protested. "Especially with that canister!"

"Superboy is down!"Aqualad warned.

Aqualad rushed over to Superboy as Miss Martian and Kid Flash headed after the ship.

"Miss Martian and I are halfway there!"Kid Flash assured.

Atomic Skull started firing beams at Miss Martian and Kid Flash.

"I apologise for raising cain today but I assure you it will be absolutely necessary."Atomic Skull commented.

As Atomic Skull fired beams at our fellow heroes and tried to get away with the plutonium, but Miss Martian knocks the canister out of his hands with telekinesis.

"No!"Atomic Skull shouted.

Atomic Skull blasts Miss Martian causing the plutonium to fall.

Miss Martian flew towards the canister, but she was far away from it.

"I am not going to reach it in time!"Miss Martian called out.

"KF! Heads up!"I shouted at the speedster. "That thing cannot hit the ground!"

Kid Flash catches the canister just before it hits the ground.

"Got it!"Kid Flash declared.

Robin took out my whip from by belt and quickly wrapped it around Psycho-Pirate before he tried to escape.

"Good job, Jason."I declared quietly.

Me and my six companions looked up at the sky, but saw that Atomic Skull's plane was no where to be seen.

"He's gone!"Superboy scowled.

"I guess this one's an even split!"Kid Flash exclaimed. "We got one bad guy and the other gets away. But I guess we did manage to get the highly deadly hunk of plutonium stuff out of Skully's hands."

"Yeah."I agreed with a nod. "We'll find him eventually."

Artemis placed a hand on Robin's shoulder.

"Hey, kid."Artemis said.

"Yeah?"Robin asked.

"You know for the new Robin, you are pretty cool."Artemis admitted with a smile.

"Thanks."Robin smirked. "And I think you guys are cool too for sideki, I mean heroes."

Next chapter is Nightwing's appearance and returning back to the Team
