Hey, everybody. Back with another chapter. Finally time for another update.
Let's get to it.
Chapter 6- Enemy Returned
Barry groans a bit as he opens his eyes, the sunlight streaming through the window. As he lies there, he groans to himself, "I swear that I'm going to move this bed so that the sun is not shining in my eyes every single morning. I have put up with this for months, and I am sick of this."
Finally, he sits up and stretches a bit before climbing out of bed and heading downstairs. Seeing that the bed is empty beside him, he heads down to the kitchen, as Patty is usually making breakfast around this time.
However, as he reaches the kitchen, he sees it is completely empty. For a second, he wonders where she might be. However, that is quickly solved when he hears a groan coming from the living room.
Barry instantly speeds into the living room, very worried. He immediately sees Patty sitting on the couch, a pained look on her face and with one hand pressed against her belly. As she's now just a month away from her due date, her belly is now very big. She can hardly stand up on her own now.
"Honey, are you okay? Are you having contractions? Is something wrong?" Barry asks in concern.
"No, honey. I'm okay. Just the twins kicking really hard, and a couple Braxton Hicks," Patty says.
"Are you sure?" Barry asks, still concerned.
"Yes, Barry, I'm sure. But I'm glad that you're so concerned," Patty smiles adoringly at him. She then puts her hands against the cushions and starts trying to lift herself off the couch.
"Honey, what are you doing?" Barry asks, resting his hands on her shoulders to stop her from getting up.
"I was just getting ready to start cooking breakfast when they started acting up and I had to sit down," Patty explains.
"Honey, enough. You almost always are the one who cooks breakfast. Let me cook for you today," Barry says, planting a kiss on her forehead.
Patty sighs a moment, clearly wanting to not leave Barry to cook alone. But, after a second, she gives in and lets herself relax on the couch with a sigh of defeat.
"You're gonna be busy enough when the twins get here, Patty. Please take the time until they're born to relax, please," Barry almost pleads with Patty.
"I know. It's just…with being on leave from MCPD…I feel like I have to be doing something with my time or I'm going to go crazy," Patty responds.
"I know, honey. But I don't want you to overstress yourself," Barry says.
"How is it that you manage to make me annoyed at you and adore you at the same time?" Patty asks with a bit of a smile on her face.
"Because I'm me. And that's why you love me, right?" Barry asks with a smirk.
"Yes," Patty responds with a roll of her eyes.
Barry chuckles a bit before speeding back into the kitchen and putting some pancakes on the griddle and starting to cut up potatoes for hash browns, while avoiding putting on the bacon, as the smell has made Patty sick the last few weeks.
Patty smiles as the smells of fresh breakfast cooking start to filter into the living room. She feels several more kicks from the twins and rubs her belly a bit. "You two are lucky. You're gonna have the best daddy ever," she whispers to her unborn children.
(Central City)
Wally grins a bit as he comes skidding to a stop in the Speed Lab. He's been spending a few hours training, and it's been a lot of fun so far today, but is getting a bit boring.
"Alright, Cisco. I've been training for a while now. I need to get out there. You got anything for me?" he asks.
"You asked just at the right time. We got a robbery at an old Mercury Labs site. Some guys going after some old high tech weapons created by Mercury Labs. Why don't you get over there and make sure they're ready for the CCPD to pick up soon?" Cisco says conversationally.
"Sure thing, Cisco," Wally says. He quickly speeds up to the Cortex, puts on his suit, and then speeds out of STAR Labs, heading for the Mercury Labs site, relishing the feeling of his speed.
It doesn't take Wally long to reach the site, speeding into one of the warehouses. Immediately, he sees three men rummaging through the old weapons crates.
"Hey, guys," Wally says. All three of the men whip around to face him, holding some kind of advanced looking gun that he doesn't recognize. Clearly weapons they had already picked up in this place.
"You're fast, Flash. But these weapons can hurt even you," one of the guys says. The three men then all fire the guns at Wally, laser blasts firing out of them.
Wally smirks as he watches the laser blasts seem to slow down. He then easily runs out of the way of the blasts and speeds towards them, grabbing hold of the end of a coil of wires and racing towards the men. He quickly grabs them and brings them all together, tying them up with the wires as he goes. Within seconds, the men are all sitting in the center of the warehouse, wrapped up in the wires.
Wally smiles as he dusts his hands off and says, "Sorry, guys. But you're not fast enough."
Wally then turns away and says, "Hey, Cisco. Tied up the guys. They're ready for CCPD to pick them up. Heading back."
There's a moment of silence, then Cisco says, "Uh, Wally. There's something not right there. I'm getting these strange reading just outside the warehouse you're in."
"What kind of readings?" Wally asks.
There's a few seconds of silence, and then Cisco says, "I think…I think I'm picking up negative tachyons."
There's more silence, then Wally asks, "You don't think…?"
"I hope not. But go see if we're right," Cisco says.
Wally steels himself, then speeds out of the warehouse, coming to a stop. He can almost feel something off. He can feel it through his connection to the Speed Force.
Then, there's a flash of red lightning in front of him, and a figure appears in front of him. A figure he well recognizes. A yellow suit with a red lightning bolt on the chest. His whole form vibrating, and his eyes glowing bright red.
Wally narrows his eyes, suspicions now confirmed. "Eobard Thawne," he growls.
"Wally West. It's been some time. Nice to meet again," Thawne says mockingly.
"I thought you were gone for good, Thawne," Wally says.
"Not even close, Wallace. I have harnessed the power of the Negative Speed Force to evade the ripple effects of a changing timeline. For me to die, you'd have to kill me. And I know you won't do that," Thawne says.
"Won't i?" Wally asks.
"Let's see," Thawne says, before speeding off. Wally immediately takes off after him.
The two speedsters race through the streets of Central City, lightning flashing and drawing attention of a few. Pursuing Thawne, Wally grits his teeth as he pushes himself faster and faster. However, right as he thinks he is about to catch Thawne, Thawne suddenly turns down a side street and vanishes. However, he reappears only a second later and trips Wally, sending Wally tumbling down several blocks before slamming into a wall.
Wally groans as he tries to recover from the impact. But, before he can, Thawne speeds up and grabs Wally by the throat, pinning him to the wall. Thawne chuckles and says, "You're very lucky you will live today. Because I want you to be my messenger. Tell Barry that it will not be much longer before he receives what is coming to him, and I make him suffer more than he has ever suffered before." Thawne then lets go of Wally and speeds away.
Wally stares in the direction that Thawne just vanished. After a few seconds, he hears Cisco saying over his earpiece, "Wally? Wally are you okay?"
"For now. But we got a big problem. Eobard Thawne is back. We need to warn Barry. Now," Wally says urgently.
And, there we go. Yes, the Reverse Flash is back. I thought he was as good a villain as any for this story, and figured it would be fitting to actually see Eobard finally meet his end. Which, I promise, he will meet his final end in this story.
Alright. Next chapter shouldn't take too long. Until it's up, please leave a review and stay tuned!
