The world of remnant is a weird place. It's a place full of magic and supernatural monsters. A few examples of this are Aura and Grimm. Firstly Aura, back in the olden days there used to be energy called mana, which we can use to control and manipulate the elements. Now after a tragic accident involving a certain duo, the gods have deemed us humans unworthy of mana, and so they made us almost incapable of channelling it. Making us defenceless against other monsters and predators
Back then the people can still feel the mana, people with the talent to see mana can still see mana, but they still weren't able to conjure even the most basic spell. Making them feel regret, pain, hatred and anger.
But there was a silver lining, amidst the chaotic period there was a man that had an idea. The man was previously a Grand Sword Master, he used mana to coat his sword and produce Sword Aura making it capable of almost cutting anything, and strengthening it to almost parry any blow.
And so the man travelled far and wide, at first he tried using his body but that didn't work and after a series of trial and error he eventually tried it on his soul, it was a pretty heavy gamble but it was a gamble that he was willing to make, and eventually he achieved his goal.
He created the mutation that's known to be Aura.
How he did it is unknown to us, all that said in the records was that he created a contract with his soul and the mana around him, eventually making his soul into a convertible, so that whenever he channels mana his soul converts the mana into aura making it able to reinforce his body or make him heal more faster
After a while the Great Sword Master spread and unlocked other peoples Aura, making it so that humankind had the power to protect themselves. And for a while, there was a period of peace and stability. But after a few years the chaotic period rose again, some people with Aura abused the power and stole from others. While other Aura users fought each other for land and petty wars.
Angered by this the Grand Sword Master rallied the people under him and fought against bandits, thieves, and other kingdoms, and by the end of his journey, he finally united all the kingdoms and brought peace to remnant until his death.
Unfortunately, he wasn't able to leave behind a descendant. Not wanting another period of chaos, the four major kingdoms decided to create the Vytal Treaty. In which every two years, one of the four major kingdoms must host the festival, and open their borders to other kingdoms. The host of the festival changes every two years.
And now with the Grimm, Grimm are what we call corrupted creatures. There are these dark pools that we call Grimm pools in where if a creature or human enters or dives into it they WILL be corrupted. If it's a monster or animal their skin may turn either black or white. If the creature turns black their skin will be covered by spiky plates all over their bodies, this is what we hunters commonly fight and what civilians commonly think as Grimm.
And the other type is called Chill, strangely enough, they don't possess any sharp bones or amour instead they're called this because they look like they came from the wintery area of Solitas with their pale white skin resembling the cold snow of Solitas, the only way you can discern them as Grimm is by the blood-red veins that are all over their body.
Weirdly enough if you kill the Chill's they don't turn to smoke but instead, stay as a corpse, and in recent years scientists have been able to purify them making them edible, there are even some cases where if a hunter eats a type of chill they can gain a boost in their physical or Aura abilities temporarily. Rumour has it that there's a hunter that ate a chill and gains a boost in their physical and Aura abilities permanently.
"And that ends our basic lesson on Remnant, do you have any questions Jaune?"
"No I'm fine I just need to digest all of this…"
And here we are in Beacon's library where one blonde-haired Jaune massaging his temples and groaning, and a greened eyed witch watched him in amusement
"Then after treating that headache of yours do you want to have lunch with me?"
"That sounds nice Glynda, I could use some food to drive away this headache, oh yeah what happened to Winter? The last time I heard of her was that she was going to report to Headmaster Ozpin"
"After her report, she was immediately sent back to Atlas, something about family matters"
"That's foreboding…"
After a while of Jaune rubbing his head the duo headed to the canteen to have lunch. You may wonder how Jaune came to this situation. Well, let's go back to 2 days ago…
[{I}]
2 days earlier
After landing in beacon Jaune, Winter and Glynda immediately sent the two injured hunters to the infirmary and headed to Headmaster Ozpin to report the mission. Turns out Vale and Atlas were trying to improve their relationship with each other and sent both of their specialists in training on a mission. With both of them having each of their own support class teammates.
But something strange happened and they were assaulted by a herd of Nevermores, making their ship crash to the ground. After that Jaune came in and the rest is history. After hearing the report Ozpin drank from his mug and faced Glynda and Winter.
"As unfortunate as it is. It is still relieving that all of you survived" Ozpin said with a smile
"But sir…"
"You need not worry Winter they are still other chances to prove your worth, what's more, important is that you are alive and well, tell me what would your father think if I said to him that his daughter died at a young age of 17?"
Winter couldn't say anything, but she could damn well imagine what her father would do because you see Jacques Schnee was….
A very doting father… ! Because of her mother being hospitalized after giving birth to her younger brother Jacques was basically raising 3 children while ALSO running a worldwide company. So while Winter was mature she couldn't say the same with her two siblings. The only time her siblings have somewhat behaved is when they visit their Mother or if their father is around.
And because Jacques was so doting that he didn't want Winter to be a hunter, because based on the statistics. Most of the Hunters die at the ripe age of between 25-30. And so to prove to her father that she can handle it she studied hard and became a specialist in training, and applied for the shared mission between Vale and Atlas.
"Now that your report is done you two may go back and relax, ah but not you Mr Arc we still need to discuss some things so you need to stay here "
After Ozpin said that the Witch of Beacon, and Princess of Atlas stared at each other their eyes wondering what they would talk about, then proceeded to shrug and got outside to relax after a long day.
"Now that they're gone, Mr Arc may I ask why did you run away from your family?"
At that Jaune flinched and couldn't look Ozpin in the eyes
"Be-because of reasons…"
"Reasons? Mr Arc is that the best you can come up with?"
At that Jaune cringed and tried to bury himself in his chair
"Mr Arc let's just stop playing games, I can feel a gods blessing on you, can you tell me who it is?"
"….!"
At that Jaune was shocked. And seeing Jaune's shocked face the Headmaster chuckled and smiled mischievously
"hahaha… gets them every single time haaa, now continuing on how I know this is because I too possess a gods blessing. The god of light's blessing to be exact. Now, how about you Mr Arc?"
"I-I was blessed by the Goddess of war Athena."
"Interesting… and what power did you get from her blessing? I'll start with mine. The power I got was resurrection, but whenever I resurrect I need time for all my skills to come back"
"Th-that's so cool! Does that mean that you create a new body every time you die? How does it feel? What's it like?" Jaune asked with stars in his eyes, completely forgetting the past minute or so.
"*cough* You can say it like that *cough* now Mr Arc you haven't answered my question yet"
"Oh yeah, she uhh gave me a power that makes me stronger the more I kill Grimm" Jaune's explanation wasn't technically wrong but it's not all right either, The System can make him into anything he wants. Be it being the greatest Scientist to the Legendary house husband. Jaune just didn't realize this yet, only focusing on the combat side.
"Hmmm that's quite… normal"
"Normal?"
"Yes Mr Arc normal, because gods mostly give combat-related blessings, be it [Herculean Strength], or [King of Mana], rarely does a god give a versatile blessing like mine"
"Versatile? Umm not to be rude Headmaster but how can resurrection be versatile?"
"It's simple Mr Arc you can acquire mastery on a variety of skills, be it combat like fencing, to someday today like cooking. And after a couple of lifetimes, you can also learn a few tricks, like finishing paperwork in just a few hours or days." At that Ozpin smirked proudly while sipping on his mug "Let's move on topics now Mr Arc, it concerns about your enrollment here in beacon."
"Wait enrollment?"
"Of course what did you expect me to do? Send you back? Not to be rude Mr Arc but I think that it would be a waste for someone who's blessed with a combat blessing to be a civilian, now Mr Arc how about you will you accept my Invitation to beacon?"
Jaune stared at Ozpins hand in a daze, not because he was surprised at the Headmaster letting him in Beacon without any combat training or education, no it's because surprisingly a part of him is saying to be wary of Ozpin. And this wasn't the first time too, even while conversing earlier Jaune was feeling suspicious of Ozpin for no reason and it's making him confused. What did the Headmaster did to him when they haven't even met yet? So what Jaune did was… trust Ozpin.
It may sound stupid for some but that's the best conclusion Jaune can get to because quite frankly he doesn't have any experience on these kinds of stuff. Another reason is to not appear suspicious, and Jaune didn't know this yet but if he did try and act suspicious to the Headmaster, he will be accused of being one of Salems agents, a sleeper agent if you will. Because to be frank Jaune's just too sweet of a treat right now.
An impressionable teenager with a combat blessing of a god. This is the equivalent of Pyrrha Nikos the 2 times Mistralian champion. A girl with a lot of potential and talent walking in here and saying I want to enrol to beacon, in which Ozpin can receive more money to improve the school and receive other perks.
And so after sighing, Jaune shook Ozpin's hand energetically while also harbouring a bit of doubt.
"Welcome to Beacon Mr Arc may you enjoy your stay here."
"Thank you, sir! I'll be sure to make my time here count!"

Hey guys it's been a while how are you? You guys enjoyed summer? I know I did. Moving on, on this chapter I tried some world building, I mean I know I could've just put in the basic canon lore but where's the fun in that? Oh yeah and I changed some stuffs in the setting, take for example Glynda and Winter being younger, and Jaune being enrolled at Beacon at age 15, or maybe Jacques being a doting father. I'm planning to change a lot of stuff. And just a little spoiler I'm planning to have some changes on Beacon too so be excited for the next chapter. Ciao~
