Chapter Nine
Phase One
Just when things were going well, just about the worst has happened. Everything seemed to be fine after The Magicat stopped the Death's Touch, but surprise, surprise! It's back.
There's no way that Wrordak could've escaped so fast so that theory is out the window, and Hordecorp wants it back, but they aren't stupid enough to steal their own property.
Who did it then?
That's what she wanted to know.
But she wasn't going to find out if she just sat around, so she made her way to the crime scene. As expected, the truck was now a total wreck, and the dangerous glowy thing was missing. Unexpectedly, a helicopter appeared with Mermista! Wait, she can fly a helicopter?
Whatever, The Magicat had more important things to worry about.
"Death's Touch is gone, but we have bigger problems…" Mermista said in a dramatic voice.
"…Are you trying to impress me? The chopper's really cool, but you kinda sounded silly there." The Magicat told her.
"Just get on!" Mermista growled.
"Now that's better!" The Magicat quickly scaled a building then jumped to the side of the helicopter.
"So what's the big problem?" The Magicat asked.
"There's a riot on Beast Island." Mermista informed her.
"Wait, did Wrordak really get out so fast?"
"No. But whoever stole Death's touch is probably the cause of this."
"So someone is teaming up with Wrordak? It better not be Grizz-bore, there's no way he has the brain power to come up with this."
"I don't think it's him, but I have a feeling we'll find out soon."
"I have a feeling that you've always wanted to do something like this."
"Don't ruin this moment for me!"
Great, Mermista doesn't want to talk to her now. Is this gonna be a long ride?
Well, The Magicat had nothing to worry about, concerning the awkwardness of the flight. Right now, she had to worry about a breakout from Beast Island, a prison filled with the most dangerous criminals the city has ever seen.
Which meant that she had to deal with Wrordak again.
Right now, she'll deal with the convicts that are attacking the Cops. The Magicat leapt off of the helicopter and she certainly turned a lot of heads, and not in a good way.
"Ok guys, how 'bout we all just calm down instead of attacking the one who put you all in here?"
Not taking her offer into consideration, the convicts began to charge towards the heroine.
"You know what? This might actually be fun, so come get your daily beatdown!"
She ran to her closest target, and flipped him over. Then she dodged another one, before giving the next guy a roundhouse kick. One of the escapees closest to her tried to hit her, only to hit the guy behind her.
She heard another one sneaking up on her, and she quickly clawed at him. Another one tried to kick her but she flipped and kicked him in the face. One of them grabbed onto her, but she flipped him over.
Someone else tried sneaking up on her, but she did a backflip and slashed his back before kicking him down. Another guy tried hitting her, but she blocked and scratched his arm before kicking him in the head.
"Sometimes, I wonder if you guys ever think this through."
Someone came up from behind and slammed into her, knocking her off her feet. He raised his arms to crush her, but he was kicked off. The Magicat pulled him up and threw him to one of his pals.
"I mean, if you've lost the first time, I doubt it'd be any easier the second time."
She jumped atop one of the convicts, then she pounced to another and punched him. Then she jumped behind another, and kicked him towards the one in front of him. Then she blocked an attack, and she kicked him before pouncing on him.
"And The Magicat wins again!" She chuckled.
"Showoff!" Mermista yelled.
"Hey, if you're good at what you do, don't stop." The Magicat said.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Mermista Asked.
"It means take me to the next level!"
"Then just say that!"
The Magicat leapt to the side once again, as Mermista headed to the next area.
"So, about this Sea Hawk guy. What's he like?" The Magicat asked.
"Let's not talk about this right now." Mermista moaned, speeding up the helicopter.
"Can you at least tell me what he looks like?"
"I'm not gonna say anything."
"But you just said something."
"Stop being annoying!"
"Stop being moody!"
"This is why I never work with you for too long!
"Get out of the way!"
"What!?"
Mermista was able to move quickly enough before a net enveloped them.
The Magicat looked at their attacker. A young woman with dark skin, pale blue hair that was shaved on one side. Netossa. Usually works with her wife, Spinnerella. They're more powerful than any sorcerer should be, and they wanted to show it until they were brought to justice.
Yeah, Netossa's really mad.
"So, where's Captain Dizzy?" The Magicat asked her.
"It's Miss Twister!" Netossa corrected.
"You have the worst names ever, Lady Entangle. Almost every other criminal uses their own name, and your names are perfect for your gimmicks!" The Magicat told her.
"I'm not in the mood for this!" Netossa tossed another net at her, but missed.
"I'll handle this poor excuse of Animal Control. You go handle something else." The Magicat told Mermista.
"You think you can handle her?"
"Relax, she can't do anything to me on her own."
"I'm right here!"
"I know."
Netossa sent another net and missed, then The Magicat ran towards her and slid under the next net before slashing at her. Netossa ducked under her claws and kicked her away.
"I was supposed to bring you to your welcome party. I won't fail at that." Netossa told her.
"Don't get your hopes up. I'm the quickest cat in the city after all." The Magicat informed her.
"Prove it." Netossa sent another net her way, then ran inside the building.
The Magicat dodged the incoming net and proceeded to follow her. The Magicat enjoyed a game of Cat and Mouse.
And she's gone.
The Magicat hates when that happens! How in the world did Netossa even do that? There's no way that she could have done that on her own, so it must have been "Miss Twister".
Those two idiots weren't the ones that she was concerned about running into. It was the other two idiots that were locked in here. The Magicat never liked running into bad pasts.
Some times, she thinks about what it would have been like if they never left. Sure, they were annoying but, it's not like she didn't like them or anything. They were her only friends after she left for college.
Suddenly, she couldn't breath. She was being crushed!
"Wildcat! Boy, it is good to see you again."
Great.
"Get off me!" The Magicat jumped away from Scorpia.
"Right. Personal space. Got ya." Scorpia reminded herself.
There's no way that Scorpia was just here for a reunion. Actually, there was no telling with this girl.
"Are you working with Netossa?" The Magicat questioned.
"Wait, how did you know that?" Scorpia asked.
Scorpia will never change, so that's good.
"Never mind. So what's with the team up?" The Magicat asked.
"From what I know, the boss has something big planned." Scorpia told her.
"So, who's this 'Boss'? Netossa mentioned that earlier." The Magicat said.
"Listen Wildcat, I'd love to talk to you, but I gotta find Entrapta." Scorpia replied.
"Right. My 'Welcome Party'. Let me guess, you're gonna outnumber me with a bunch of supervillains?" The Magicat guessed.
"Nothing gets past you, Wildcat." Scorpia grinned before leaving.
The Magicat should have figured that Scorpia was too nice to greet her with a battle.
Back to the search. Netossa wasn't so difficult to fight, but when she was with Spinnerella, they were a fearsome power couple. Stupid, but fearsome.
The Magicat twitched her ear, then jumped out of the way of a strong gust of wind.
Miss Twister, and Lady Entangle.
The Magicat snickered.
"Stop laughing at us!" Netossa threw a net, and missed. Spinnerella used her magic to push The Magicat away. The Magicat rebalanced herself, and dodged an incoming truck, courtesy of Spinnerella.
Netossa caught her with a net, and went to grab her. The Magicat surprised her with a flash spell, and when she was free, she kicked Netossa away. Spinnerella threw another gust of wind, but The Magicat jumped over it and pounced on her.
"I think you two had enough fun for one night!" The Magicat said.
"Believe me kitty, the fun's just getting started." Spinnerella retorted.
"Don't call me kiitttyyy!!!" The Magicat screamed as Spinnerella created a twister and threw her outside.
That wasn't her most painful landing, but it still hurt.
"Catr- Wildcat! She was right! You're here!" Entrapta yelled.
"Good to see you too, Entrapta. But aren't you supposed to beat me up with your new friends?" The Magicat asked.
"Colleagues, but I was told to wait for the rest." Entrapta said.
"Relax, I won't take it personally. But I would definitely appreciate it if you held back." The Magicat told her.
"If she wants her reward, she won't." A voice said.
"Wrordak! So it was you." The Magicat turned to face him.
"You're wrong about that. Though, I won't lie, I am grateful to have an ally alongside me. Unfortunately for you, you are not that ally." Wrordak told her.
"I'd rather wipe that smirk off your face than work for you." The Magicat growled.
"Very well, ladies first."
The Magicat ran towards him, but before she could reach him, she was blown away by Spinnerella. The attack was followed up by a kick from Netossa, but The Magicat dodged it and pounced on her.
A large tail hit her off. "Nothing personal, Wildcat."
"I know. I just regret going to work." The Magicat groaned.
"You're different now." Scorpia told her.
"Just stop talking and hit me already."
Scorpia swung her tail again, but The Magicat jumped over it and kicked Scorpia in the face. She twitched her ear, then dodged a net from Netossa. Spinnerella flew towards her, but she leaned out of the way and let her carry Netossa away.
The Magicat was suddenly wrapped in hair.
"Sorry Wildcat, it's nothing personal." Entrapta told her.
"You guys should really learn how to keep the small talks to a minimum!" The Magicat kicked her in the stomach, making her loosen her grip. The Magicat slipped out, and kicked her in the face.
"Aah!" The Magicat turned to Scorpia, and realized she'd been injected with her venom. She could already feel herself getting weaker by the second.
"You know what? I planned on sleeping anyway." The Magicat groaned.
Netossa and Spinnerella took this opportunity to attack the stunned Heroine, followed by Wrordak, and the others.
The Magicat couldn't find the strength to get back on her feet. She could barely find the strength to lift her head up. She couldn't fight anymore.
She was suddenly lifted into the air, and she could not believe her eyes. She was being carried by tendrils of shadows, shadows that she recognized from one person alone.
Dressed in crimson robes, was the woman she had trusted with her life. The woman she looked up to.
Light Spinner.
"If you're smart, you will stay out of our way." She warned her.
She was tossed aside, unable to get up, unable to stop them.
"Begin phase two." Were the last words she heard, before everything went dark.
-
Oh no! Light Spinner became Shadow Weaver! Who could have seen this coming? In all seriousness, I can't believe I've come this far into the story. Don't worry, we'll uncover more of the story as we go on, and I can't wait to finish the next chapter.
Until then, my readers!
