Chapter Ten

Phase Two

When Mermista went to check on The Magicat, she was shocked to find her unconscious. She quickly had her taken to a hospital, and fortunately, they kept her identity a secret under her orders.

The Magicat was an idiot, but she was the City's only hope against this new threat. The Magicat's never failed before when it comes to saving the City, and though she'd never admit it, she trusted that idiot.

She missed the old days, when there were no Superheroes/Villains, and the most common crime was robbery.

Ugh, she'd kill for a massage right now. And some ice cream.

And she'd kill that cat for leaving without saying "Thank you". Some people are just never appreciated.

-

Light Spinner. A name forgotten by most, a person always pushed around, a dead name.

From now on, Shadow Weaver will be a name righteously feared by any who would oppose her.

Her shadows were holding a device, built by Entrapta, and she brought out Death's Touch, and she inserted the canister.

She will destroy Prime, and nothing would stand in her way.

Not even Catra.

-

It was official. The Magicat hates Mondays now. How did she ever think she stood a chance against all of them.

And what were Entrapta and Scorpia doing with them? What did they get out of this? It doesn't make any sense!

And worst of all, Light Spinner. How could this have happened? Was it supposed to be opposite day? Everyone she trusted was turning evil. First it was Wrordak, now it's Light Spinner.

She should have been there for her.

Incoming call from Mermista.

"What is wrong with you?" Mermista growled.

"Maybe I'll email you a list later. I've got work to do." The Magicat groaned.

"In your condition?" Mermista huffed at her.

"It's only a few broken bones, I'll manage." She assured Mermista.

"Why should I ever worry for you? You keep doing stuff like this." Mermista wasn't assured.

"Well, it's part of the job description. A Superhero is supposed put everyone else before them." The Magicat told her.

"I'm sure Huntara doesn't see you as a Superhero." Mermista said.

"Like I care what Huntara thinks." The Magicat muttered.

"You've been brain damaged, haven't you?" Mermista couldn't believe it.

"Aw, you really do care."

...

"Mermista? Are you there? Ugh, I deserve that."

The Magicat checked for criminal activity, hoping to walk off the pain in her tail. Fortunately for her, there was something going on at the local art museum. Unfortunately for the criminal, she had a job to do.

-

Once The Magicat made it there, she realized it was a burglary. By a… magicat?

Great. Just great. This was the last person The Magicat wanted to see.

-

A magicat in a dark red suit, with a black secondary color, was sneaking in the shadows. This job was going to be easy-

"That outfit is so last season."

The burglar turned to the voice, seeing a magicat in a bright white suit, with a gold secondary color. The burglar then said, in the same voice-

"Ugh, when did you change your look?"

"A week ago? I haven't kept count of how long." She groaned.

"Listen, kitten, you really should rest. I could feel how tired you are." The burglar shapeshifted, revealing their real form. A lizard person, with long blond hair, wearing a dark outfit with green tights.

Double Trouble.

"While I may be too tired to break every bone in your body for calling me that, I'm not too tired to bring you in." The Magicat groaned.

"Aw, but it's our thing. You really know how to spoil the fun, kitten." Double Trouble smirked.

"Ugh, you're almost as annoying as Robin Hood." She groaned.

"It's part of my charm." They chuckled.

"After I take you in, you'll be someone else's problem." The Magicat told them.

She jumped at them, but she missed and Double Trouble used their tail to trip her.

"Sweetie, you're in no shape to take me in, let alone beat me. Why don't you just rest while I take my prize?" Double Trouble asked.

"Fat chance. I know you always work for someone, so who is it this time?" The Magicat questioned, while swinging her claws at them.

"I usually don't sell out my employers, but I'll make an exception for you, kitten." Double Trouble kept dodging her attacks, then they jumped away from her.

"I'm sure you remember one of your old enemies from the good old days, one you took something from?" They shapeshifted into a woman, a fish woman with green scales, and long tentacle hair, she had an eyepatch on her right eye.

"Octavia? You mean she's back?" The Magicat's ears perked up.

Double Trouble reverted back to their true form. "She's back, alright. She's also expecting something, and I intend to deliver."

"Catch." The Magicat threw a small device at them.

"What's this, a tracker? You might be more tired than I thought." The moment they finished talking, they were wrapped in strings.

"You really should catch up on who you're trying to frame." The Magicat stated.

"Oh, kitten. I always catch up on my characters." Double Trouble used their tail to trip her.

When she got back on her feet, she saw them running away. She chased after them, but when she got outside, she lost them. At least they didn't get what they came for.

Whatever that is.

-

Shadow Weaver finished setting up the device, and she sent Spinnerella, and Netossa to distract The Magicat.

The device will detonate, and spread into populated areas, and The Magicat will be unaware of everything until it's too late. And when that happens, Phase Three will begin.

Prime must be stopped. No matter what.

-

Well, great. Light Spinner turned evil, There's a team of Super Villains on the loose, and to top it all off, Octavia's back. You know what? She'll deal with her after she's done cleaning up this mess.

One of the worst parts of this whole situation is that she'll have to deal with Scorpia and Entrapta. It used to be the three of them against the world, but why did things have to go the way they did?

And there was Netossa, and Spinnerella, Brightmoon's criminal couple. She'll start with those two. It'll take a while to track them down.

Incoming call from Adora.

"So, have you called about my injuries too?" The Magicat asked.

"Catra! You gotta come quick!" Wait, what's going on?

"Wait, what's going on!?" The Magicat asked.

"I was with Madam Razz, and Glimmer, and then Miss Twister and Lady Entangle showed up out of nowhere, and they're destroying everything!" Adora explained.

"You know, you don't have to call them that."

"Just get your tail over here!"

She didn't have to be told twice.

-

The Magicat made her way to F.E.A.S.T, and the couple were certainly causing trouble.

There was fire, vacant cars, smoke everywhere. They really went all out and destroyed as much as they could. She hoped Adora was ok.

"Look honey, The cat's come to play." Netossa chuckled.

"May I remind you, this cat's got claws." The Magicat retorted.

"How scary. May I remind you, you couldn't handle us before?" Spinnerella mocked.

"Correction, I couldn't handle the others. You on the other hand…"

"Ugh, I just remembered why I hate this girl." Netossa grumbled.

"Really? 'Cause I thought you hated me because I kept beating you two." The Magicat said.

Netossa tossed a net, and missed her target.

"Missed!"

Netossa tried again, and received the same result.

"Missed!"

"Don't you ever shut up!" Netossa yelled, as she threw another net.

"Missed!"

"Ragh!!" Netossa screamed.

"Sweetie, you're letting her get to you again." Spinnerella reminded her.

"She's just so annoying!" Netossa yelled.

"Then let's shut her up. Together?" Spinnerella held out her hand.

Netossa smirked. "Together." And she took it.

"Missed!"

"I didn't even throw one!!!" Netossa screamed.

This time, Spinnerella blew a gust of wind towards The Magicat, and it was too big to dodge. Thankfully, her claws were strong enough to hold her in place.

"Missed!"

"She hit you!" Netossa threw another net at her, and The Magicat barely dodged it this time.

"I know. It's just so funny though." The Magicat said.

"What's so funny?" Netossa growled.

"How easy it is to distract you."

Netossa instinctively throw a force field around herself, then The Magicat quickly ran towards Spinnerella and kicked her in the stomach.

The Magicat looked at Netossa, who looked like she yelled something, but the force field was soundproof. Netossa took it down and caught her in a net, then she threw her against a wall.

"I hate you!"

"You know, hate is such a strong word."

"Do you ever shut up!?"

"People used to tell me I was annoying back then, but I seem to get on your nerves a lot easier than most."

Spinnerella blew her away, and before Netossa could catch her in a net, she flipped over it and kicked her. The Magicat punched her in the face, but before she could get another hit in, she was caught in a tornado.

Spinnerella threw her against an empty car, and then she blew another gust of wind at her. The Magicat jumped out of the way, then she ran towards Netossa.

Netossa, in turn, shielded herself with another force field. Netossa sent another net to The Magicat, who jumped out of its way. The Magicat's ears perked, and she jumped away from a gust of wind.

The Magicat changed her target, and pounced at Spinnerella, who tried to create another tornado. The Magicat caught her before she could, then she started punching her.

Netossa quickly went to aid her beloved, and she threw a net. The Magicat dodged the incoming trap, and let it catch Spinnerella.

"Why can't you just stay still!?!" Netossa screamed.

"This coming from the woman who's trying to kill me?" The Magicat retorted.

The Magicat ran up to her and kicked her, then she raised her claws.

"Now stay down." She growled.

Netossa scoffed. "Really? You don't actually expect me to believe you'll do it, do you?"

"3, 2, 1."

Netossa was confused, until The Magicat did a backflip and landed on a speeding Spinnerella.

Now, the thing about magic, for skilled sorceress', is that it can be converted into other forms of energy, like electricity. The Magicat gathered as much magic as she could, and transformed it into electricity. She then discharged that electrical current into Spinnerella's back.

"Nooo!!!" Netossa casted more nets at her, but she missed. She ran towards an unconscious Spinnerella.

"Relax, I didn't have that much energy anyway. She'll be up in a few hours, at most." The Magicat assured her.

"I hate you!" Netossa cursed at her.

"Yeah, well, you know your new boss? She gave me this as a gift." The Magicat threw a yarn trap at her, and Netossa found herself entangled.

"Maybe next time, you should make a strategy to beat me instead of just 'Working together', huh?" The Magicat asked.

Two down, four to go.

Rigt, Adora and friends. The Magicat started looking for Adora and the others, among the damage that Netossa and Spinnerella caused.

Aha! She'd recognize that poof anywhere. She went to see if she was ok, but she found her and Glimmer supporting Razz.

"Are you three ok?" The Magicat asked.

"Ah, don't worry young one, Madam Razz is tougher than she looks!" The old woman chuckled.

"Thanks, I wasn't expecting them to show up." Adora told her.

"You don't have to worry about them anymore. I'm gonna go see if anyone else is okay. You sure you'll be fine?" The Magicat asked again.

"Don't worry, we're gonna find help." Glimmer assured her.

The Magicat was hesitant, then she went searching for other people caught in the damage. She took one last look at Adora.

She never wanted her to be in danger.

-

As it turns out, everyone was ok. Spinnerella and Netossa didn't really hurt anybody, and that was good news. The Magicat was on the roof of F.E.A.S.T, thinking about some things.

If they tried to hurt people, instead of causing collateral damage, and if she didn't make it on time… She didn't want to think about what could have happened to them.

"Hey." Adora went to check up on her.

"So, is Granny ok?" Catra asked her.

"She'll be fine. She once fought a man trying to get some ingredients, remember?" Adora chuckled.

"Heh heh, of course I remember. She never fails to make a delicious pie." Catra smiled at her. Right, she's wearing a mask.

"Hey… I'm sorry I couldn't do much help. It's hard being the one you gotta rescue all the time, and I didn't have enough strength to protect them. Sometimes I wish I was the one who got superpowers. Is that selfish?" Adora asked.

"It's not. It's not selfish to want to be you. Sometimes I wish I didn't get these powers. I know how you feel." Catra told her.

"Thanks." Adora smiled. The same smile that always makes her happy.

"Besides, you've saved my hide plenty of times. Hopefully, I can still count on you." Catra convinced herself that she'll be ok.

"Don't worry. I'll always have your back."

"Promise?"

"Promise.

...

...

"Hey! I brought some drinks!" Glimmer burst out the door, holding bottles of water for them.

...

"Oh, was I interrupting?" Glimmer asked.

"No. Thanks for the drinks, though. I'm gonna have to be at full strength if I'm gonna beat the rest of the team." The Magicat told her.

"Team?" Glimmer raised an eyebrow.

"Someone formed a team of Super Villains." The Magicat explained.

"Really? And you're gonna fight them!? I've got just the thing to help! After you helped me with that flash spell, I studied some more spells and I found one that explodes air! I could show you the runes." *Starry eyes*

"Should I be worried about you knowing that spell?" The Magicat asked her.

"No. I learned the hard way on my first try." Glimmer looked down at her feet in embarrassment.

"Fine, show me." The Magicat said.

"Yes!!!" Glimmer started squealing in excitement.

"Wait, you helped her with a flash spell? Why?" Adora questioned.

"She tried stopping a break-in." The Magicat said, casually.

"What!? That's how you met!?" Adora yelled.

"Yeah. She's a fun girl."

"Don't encourage her!"

"What can I say? I'm influential."

"You told me not to go looking for danger!"

"Because you are a magnet."

"Am not!"

"Are too."

"Am not!"

'Maybe I should go?' Glimmer thought to herself.

-

And we are officially at Chapter Ten! Anyways, there's probably going to be a big reveal, next chapter. I'm going to save it till then, and I can't wait! The yarn trap was a silly idea based on something from the game, and I decided to add another thing to the roster, don't know what I'll have make her blow up but I'm excited.

Also, I finished watching Gravity Falls recently! If you've been living under a rock like me, you need to watch it, It's a must-see. Same goes with Amphibia. Who was the person that decided that cartoons had to break us, emotionally? It's like every cartoon I watch is trying to mess with me.

By the way, I've had a great idea for another fic that I'll definitely write. I've been inspired after waking up one morning, and watching Boss Level. It's like Happy Death Day, or Edge of Tomorrow, or Groundhog Day. I own none of these movies, but I'll own the fanfic idea for a story that'll absolutely mess with your emotions.

Here's the pitch. One day, Catra, your average everyday magicat, wakes up to the pounding of her door. She opens it, and is met with the face of Adora, who breaks up with her right there. And after a long day of moping, she finds herself in a time loop, heartbroken, possibly forever. Could she find a way to fix everything and break the loop, or will she spend eternity having her heart broken?

Byyyeeeeee!!!
