Chapter Eleven
Phase Three
The Magicat found herself in a street filled with terror, destruction, and two idiots. The criminal duo, Miss Twister, and Lady Entangle. A.K.A Spinnerella, and Netossa.
The two of them were great at causing havok, having greater magic than most. They were unstoppable against the Police, but even if The Magicat could beat them on her own, it doesn't mean they were pushovers.
Their downfall was only because of their teamwork. They love each other, but Netossa can be a little competitive, and Spinnerella is a humble balance between the two.
They can't fight together so well.
-
Meanwhile
...
No doubt, the two of them couldn't beat her, even when she was still recovering. After that, Entrapta will locate where the artifacts are. With the artifacts gone, Prime will no longer be able to continue his work, then she'll crush him.
The device was finally ready, Shadow Weaver pressed the trigger button, and canisters were launched across the city. Once they landed, the energy within them burst out, into an explosion of green ethereal substance.
Phase Three was ready to commence.
-
Time skip*
It was everything she feared of the Death's Touch. There was news of a pandemic, spreading throughout the city. Everyone was told to stay indoors, keep contact to a minimum, to wear masks.
Unfortunately, The Magicat wasn't following the first rule. Well, to her defense, she was always a little rebellious. Ok, she was a jerk, just ask anyone that isn't Adora.
She changed after she realized there were others worth fighting for. And she made a promise.
'Do one good thing in you life. At least one, Wildcat.'
After that, she turned to Adora, who made her realize why she was the one who had those Runestones.
To be the hero that she deserves. The hero that will change everything. One day, the world will be filled with heroes. Heroes that will risk their lives for others.
Sure, there was Voltron, but they're the kind that stops world ending threats.
One day, there will always be a hero to turn to, to ask for help, to believe in. Catra realized that, that day could come. She will inspire others, with extraordinary gifts, to be heroes.
Or, maybe it was a big dream.
Either way, she was The Magicat. A hero.
She found herself at the launch site, on Light Spinner's trail. If she could talk to her, maybe she could convince her to stop. That's all she hoped for.
She could definitely sniff out her scent, along with the disturbing smell of dark magic. It was similar to ashes.
"You should stay cautious." A familiar voice said.
Now that she was actually here, The Magicat couldn't find the words that she wanted to say.
"You're usually quite the talker, aren't you, Catra?"
She froze at that.
"You knew?" She whispered.
"Don't take me for a fool. I was your superior, remember? The smartest woman in the room."
The Magicat turned and looked at her, crimson robes, long shadowy hair, and to put it all together, a mask, adorned with the gem that they had created.
"Why are you doing this? You were a good person, you wanted to help others, Light Spinner-" She was cut off.
"Don't call me that. I am not that person anymore. But you, you're the same as always. If you stay out of my way, I'll fix everything once I am done with Prime."
"What has he done?" The Magicat asked.
"It's not just about what he did, It's about what he wants to do."
The Magicat was confused. What did the Mayor want? Was he planning something?
"And what's that?" She questioned.
"You shouldn't worry yourself about that. As long as I stop him."
"Whatever he's after, we can stop him. Together." The Magicat said.
Typical. Shadow Weaver remembered that she was too trusting of others.
"You're naïve, Catra. We need to do more than stop him. We need to crush him."
"I can't let you do that." She told her.
"Very well, you've chosen your side."
She resided into the shadows, and vanished. All that was left was the scent of ashes.
The Magicat really wanted a team-up.
-
Well, that was a bust. Now there was either the dimwits, or Wrordak. Based on her luck, it was probably the former.
Back then, she could always count on her sidekicks, the Muscle, and the Teacher.
Believe it or not, Entrapta managed to teach someone while she was in prison. Someone in the cell next door. It would have been finished twice as fast if Scorpia didn't interrupt.
And Scorpia managed to befriend everyone. Even the janitor, Kyle.
If she were there, she probably would have ruled the entire prison. Old Catra was fearsome.
They were gonna be difficult to track.
-
"So, how's the search going?" Scorpia asked.
Entrapta, typing away on the keyboard, furrowed her brows together.
"It's strange. I'm not picking up anything other than Catra's Runestones. They must be shielded like the Black Garnet." Entrapta explained.
"Then how are we gonna find it? Shadow Weaver told us to find it, but how are we gonna find it if we can't?" Scorpia nervously said.
"Well, if we could get it out from whatever's blocking it, we'd get a signal." Entrapta told her.
"That's good, how do we do that?" Scorpia asked.
"I don't know? We don't have it." Entrapta shrugged.
"That's bad." Scorpia frowned.
"It's probably somewhere in the Hordecorp building. But I won't be able to find it if it's blocked." Entrapta said.
"But Shadow Weaver needs it to cure everyone!" Scorpia exclaimed.
"I can't find it, but I have some news." Entrapta turned to Scorpia.
"What's that?" Scorpia asked.
"Catra's coming this way." Entrapta turned back to the screen.
Sure enough, Catra's energy signal was heading straight for them.
"That's bad."
-
Two hours. It took two hours before she found their scent, and now she's on her way to them.
She really wanted things to turn out differently between them. The three of them could have left together. The Super Pal Trio.
It looked like they were expecting her, but they weren't greeting her.
"Cat got your tongue?" She joked.
"So, uh… What are you doing here?" Scorpia asked.
"Take a guess." The Magicat said.
"You're going to stop us?" Entrapta said.
"Yeah. Don't make this harder than it needs to be." The Magicat pleaded.
"Listen Wildcat, we have to do this." Scorpia told her.
"I told you not to." The Magicat sighed.
She charged towards Scorpia, who retaliated with her stinger. The Magicat flipped and kicked at her, but she blocked with her pincer. Scorpia swung her tail at her but The Magicat jumped over it, then she kicked her in the face.
The Magicat found herself wrapped in hair, but this time she was too close to kick her.
"Catra! Listen, we can fix this. As long as we get what we're looking for, we can fix everything!" Entrapta exclaimed.
"At what cost!?" The Magicat banged her head against Entrapta's, making her lose her grip.
"You already caused enough trouble. Why couldn't you have listened to me!?" She yelled.
"It's in the past, Catra! We need to fix this, now!" Entrapta held The Magicat's arms in her hair, restraining her.
"Fix what!?" The Magicat struggled.
"Everything! Once we stop Prime, we can all be happy again!" Entrapta tightened her hold.
"What did Prime do to you!?" The Magicat questioned.
"He took Hordak away!!" Entrapta screamed.
The Magicat stopped. What was she talking about?
"…What do you mean?" The Magicat asked.
"When Hordak left, it wasn't because he wanted a vacation. Prime did something to him." Scorpia said.
"What are you talking about?"
"You saw what Wrordak was like. Prime did something to them, and only Wrordak came back." She told her.
"Prime did that to him?" The Magicat's ears lowered, he hurt them?
"Yes. But it's not just them, Spinnerella and Netossa wanted to get back at him too. We don't know what he's doing to people, or why. We can stop him." Scorpia told her.
"The way Li- Shadow Weaver wants?" The Magicat asked.
"What do you mean?" Scorpia was confused.
"The power she has, I helped her make it. It's corrupting her. She was a good person, and now… I think she wants to kill him." The Magicat told her.
Scorpia's eyes widened. She never told them that. If they continued helping her, they would be for his death. Scorpia wouldn't be able to live with herself if that happened.
"Wildcat, I- I had no idea…" Scorpia stammered.
"It's fine. I can fix this." The Magicat assured her.
"Heh, you really have changed." Scorpia chuckled.
"Not entirely. I still keep my snarky personality behind the mask." The Magicat reminded her.
"I noticed." Scorpia smiled.
"You can go. I'll fix this. I promise." The Magicat told them.
Scorpia looked to Entrapta, who thought it over. She didn't want to kill him. Not really. She just wanted Hordak back. She just wanted to have all of her friends back.
"Ok. I trust you." Entrapta smiled. "And Catra? I need to tell you something."
"What is it?" She asked.
"It's about Death's Touch. Hordak told me what it is." Entrapta said. "It's artificial magic."
"What? But that's impossible!" The Magicat couldn't believe what she heard. How did Prime create artificial magic? Why?
"It's unstable. That's why everyone who comes into contact with it gets sick. It was supposed to be a power source but instead, it's draining people of their magic, and it's going to kill them. Unless you find something that Prime has kept secret." Entrapta explained.
"You can do it, Catra. We believe in you." Scorpia told her.
Before they left, Scorpia gave her one of her signature hugs.
"I missed you." Scorpia whispered.
"I missed you too." Catra hugged her back.
They let go of one another, and as they were about to leave, Catra remembered something. Something she'd always wanted to tell her.
"Scorpia!"
Said woman turned around, waiting to hear what she had to say.
"Remember what you said that night? I wanted to tell you, I would've said yes."
Scorpia smiled. "Thanks for telling me, Wildcat." She left without saying another word.
Prime did something to his own brothers. She always figured that there was something wrong about him. If he is as bad as they say, she has more reason to stop him from doing what he has planned.
Incoming call from Adora.
"Adora?" The Magicat asked.
"Catra, I need you to come get me." Adora quietly said.
"What is it now?" The Magicat groaned.
"I'm at Prime's office." Adora bluntly said.
Bad news.
-
Thirty minutes earlier*
With Death's Touch spreading through the city, Adora had to do the most dangerous thing in her life.
Break into Hordecorp.
Catra would've called her insane for thinking of such a thing, and honestly, she might be insane. Catra always did crazy stuff to save others, so what right did she have to say that?
Adora's heart was almost beating out of her chest, and she almost didn't want to do this. She could lose her job! But if she could find anything that could help stop this crazy mess, it would all be worth it.
'I don't think I can do this. Yes you can! You have no other choice! I have every other choice!! If you don't do this, then what kind of hero are you!' Adora kept fighting herself internally, until she found herself inside the building.
'Alright Adora, it's too late now.' She steeled herself, and moved to the Receptionist.
"Excuse me. Could you tell me where the bathroom is?" Adora asked, nicely.
"Of course, It's right over there." The Receptionist pointed in its direction.
"Thank you." Adora thanked her.
Alright, the plan was to use the vents and make her way up, after that she would head to the office and hopefully she would find a lead. She pulled the cover off and went in.
'How does Catra do this? It's so cramped in here. At least it's clean.' Adora thought to herself.
Once she was out, she casted an invisibility spell on herself. After that, she went to find an unguarded elevator. There's no way she was gonna climb all the way up there.
Bingo. An elevator. She pressed the button on the side, and patiently waited for the elevator. When it finally arrived, she was glad that she was invisible. Someone came out of the elevator, and left somewhere else.
How convenient!
She went in, and pressed for what she guessed was the same floor with his office. This gave her plenty of time to think about what she was doing. Which was about the worst possible thing she could be doing. She didn't even know if she would find anything!
Finally, she was, hopefully, at the right floor? Yes! She went to his office, checked inside, vacant of living creatures. The more she ventured into this place, the more she was convinced that he's never even seen a fly.
She checked his laptop, and found nothing. Not even a search history! No home screen of him or his brothers. There was nothing! This entire plan worked out, for nothing!?
Hopefully leaving will be just as easy as getting in-
"Adora."
She froze. There was no one in the room, no speakers, no cameras, nobody! The only thing of interest was a painting of a boat, sailing in the ocean. A painting large enough to be covering something.
She checked behind it, and found seams in the wall! Secret room! Adora for the win! She went to the desk and searched for a button, and found one just under the desk.
'Please don't let this call Security.' Adora nervously, slowly, thought about her life choices before she pressed it.
The secret door opened. Thank goodness. She hesitantly went inside, and she couldn't believe what she found.
Runestones.
They were on display, and easily identifiable as Runestones. She could certainly feel the energy coming off on them. Their radiant glow was so mesmerizing.
She pulled out her phone.
"Adora?" Catra asked.
"Catra, I need you to come get me." Adora quietly said.
"What is it now?" Catra groaned.
"I'm at Prime's office." Adora bluntly said.
"I'm not even going to ask." Catra said.
"See you soon." Adora told her, as she hung up.
Adora went to a Runestone. It resembled a pearl, a beautiful stone glowing with potential. She opened the display, and grabbed it. She wondered who it belonged to. The Black Garnet belonged to Scorpia, the Jade Eyes belonged to Catra. Who did this belong to?
"Adora."
Now she knows she isn't going crazy. She pocketed the Runestone and searched the room. None of theses Runestones were calling out to her, but she could feel something.
A connnection.
"Adora."
She turned, and saw a box on the other side of the room. She was certain that this was where the voice was coming from. She pulled on the locks, letting them click open.
She opened the box.
She couldn't take her eyes off of it. She could see her own reflection. She could see someone elses. No, it was still hers, but different. A blue light shimmered across the blade.
The Sword of Protection.
She reached for it, reached for the hilt of the blade. A beautiful gold that complimented the blue. Her fingers drew closer, until the moment they touched the tip of the hilt.
In a flash of light, everything disappeared.
-
"Adora."
She saw the figure of a woman, made of light. She saw the gateway, spiraling in the air. She saw…
"Will you fight?"
She-Ra.
"For the Honor of Grayskull?"
-
The light flashed once more. She was back in the room, the sword was still there. The Runestone was still in her pocket. The only thing that was different was the alarms.
"Now? Of all times!?" Adora screamed at the air, then she grabbed the sword and ran.
She made her way to the roof, and on her way there, she noticed there were a lot of Hunters. Bad news. She got to the roof, and looked for a place to hide.
The Hunters were getting closer.
"I leave you alone, and this happens? I told you, you're a walking magnet." Catra teased.
"Let's just go!" Adora yelled.
"Alright, get on my back. I'll land on my feet." Catra told her.
"You came out of the Hospital yesterday!" Adora reminded her.
"And I'm mostly fine now. Come on!"
Adora grabbed onto her, and held tightly.
Catra jumped
"And one more thing. You stole a sword!?"
-
Chapter Eleven is finished! A few more, and this story will soon be over. That doesn't mean it won't continue, because I have big plans for sequels. I'm even going to do a prequel origin story. I just don't know if I want to wait for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, or if I should make an original sequel to my story, but I feel like I should do the latter, and I promise you it would be amazing.
I can feel the excitement from this chapter, but I feel like I rushed the fight scene with the Super Pal Trio, but that took hours. And by the way, I've had She-Ra planned for a while, and I'm excited to finally to add her to the story. I really can't wait to do Glimmer's story, so I think I'm gonna do that after I'm done with this one, then I'll add the bonus stories from the DLCs. I'm glad that you've read this, now please review.
