Chapter Thirteen
Finale
WARNING: This chapter involves character death.
Once Huntara was finished with the Beasts, she went inside to aid The Magicat. Only to find her laying on the ground, beaten from her fight with Shadow Weaver. Huntara quickly ran to help her, and thankfully, she was still breathing.
"What happened? Where's the Mayor?" Huntara asked her.
The Magicat stirred weakly from her disoriented state, and answered. "She took him… I'm sorry." The Magicat muttered.
"You did all you could, I was the one unwilling to listen. We've got to get you some help." Huntara said, as she carried the injured heroine.
"Get me to F.E.A.S.T." The Magicat requested.
"There's probably some hospitals that are closer-" Huntara was cut off.
"Please." The Magicat said, weakly.
Huntara could sense her desperation, and while it confused her, she wasn't going to question it.
-
Adora sat beside Madame Razz, holding her hand in hers. After Catra left, she tried to harness the swords powers in the hope of healing everyone. She knew she was getting somewhere, but after many failed attempts, she went to see Razz.
Seeing her in this state, she remembered how she felt when her brother went missing. This was just as painful to bear back then. She felt like she was losing everyone, Adam, Wrordak, Hordak, and now… If anything happened, she wished that she'd still have Catra.
"Catra was nice to me, after my Dad died. She doesn't deserve to lose Razz." Glimmer muttered.
"Everything's going to be fine. When Catra gets here, Razz will be okay." Adora tried to assure her, despite not believing her own words.
"Where is Catra, anyways?" Glimmer asked.
"She's-" Adora tried to come up with something, but she noticed a crowd growing and decided to check what was going on.
When The Magicat returned in the arms of Huntara, that could only mean one thing. Bad news. Nonetheless, Norwyn rushed to help her. They prepped her onto a table, and began healing her wounds.
"Oh my god…" She heard Adora say. She looked up at her, and saw her shocked expression.
"Hey Adora…" She weakly grinned under the mask.
"What happened?" Adora asked her.
"Light Spinner. She caught me off guard and took Prime with her." The Magicat explained.
"Rest. You can't do anything about it in this state." Norwyn told her.
Adora didn't know what to do. She barely made any progress with the sword, and seeing Catra like this made things worse. Everyone was counting on her, but she couldn't find the strength to do anything about it.
-
Sometime after, Adora went to check on Catra again. She found her trying to stand up on her own.
"You need to rest!" Adora told her.
"I need to see her." Catra said.
Adora felt herself get even more upset. Catra shouldn't have to see her like this. Catra forced herself to keep walking, until she made it to Razz's room. She was lying on a bed, with various tubes hooked up to a monitor.
Razz opened her eyes and saw her.
"Ah, the hero." She said, weakly.
"I'm gonna fix this. Don't worry Madam." Catra did all her best not to whimper.
"I know you will, my kitten." Razz smiled.
Catra's ears raised up in surprise, and she took off her mask.
"You knew it was me?" She asked.
"I'd recognize those eyes anywhere." Razz answered.
"But my eyes weren't showing." Catra chuckled.
"But I could see them. I could see them, and I could see how much good you were doing out there. When I took you in, you were the cutest little kitten I've ever seen, and now look at you!" Razz exclaimed.
"Why did you take me in? Even after I was a jerk to you." Catra asked.
"Because I knew you needed help, and one day, you would see how many people needed help like you. When you help someone--" Razz said.
"--You help everyone." Catra finished, tears falling down her cheeks.
"Catra… You are a hero. You must be strong, and you must be brave, my kitten. Just like my Mara used to be." Razz told her.
"Who is Mara?" Catra asked. Every time she heard that name, it would always confuse her.
"She was She-Ra." Razz said.
Catra couldn't make sense of it. Adora was She-Ra, so who was Mara supposed to be? Razz couldn't have been talking crazy this time, no matter how much it didn't make sense.
"What do you mean?" Catra asked.
"You'll know when you are ready." Madam Razz just smiled.
"I can't lose you too!" Catra cried, grasping onto Razz's hand.
"We'll find each other one day, my kitten. Let an old lady rest." Madam Razz laid her head onto the pillow behind her.
Catra walked to doorway before stopping to listen, listen to the slow beeping of the monitor. She clenched her fists when she heard it stop. Her tail curled close, and she put on her mask.
"Catra." Adora placed her hand on Catra's shoulder, and stared at her sullen form.
"Where's the sword?" Catra asked.
"I left it on the roof." Adora answered.
Hearing that, Catra started to leave.
"Catra! Take me with you, I can help!" Adora pleaded.
"You're not ready." Catra told her.
"Catra, you can't do this alone! I'm almost there, if I had more time, I could heal everyone!" Adora argued.
"I don't have enough time, and neither does Light Spinner." Catra kept walking, the destination clear in her head.
"She started all of this! You don't have to do this on your own, we made a promise!" Adora reminded her.
"She isn't a monster. I helped her make that thing, and now it affected her, but she isn't a monster!" Catra yelled.
"Even after everything she did, how can you not call her one!?" Adora yelled back.
"Because I can't see her like that! Because I know her… She was smart, and she was nice. I remember my Mom being like that. I can still save her." The Magicat left without another word.
Adora thought about what she said. She compared Light Spinner to C'yra. She never mentioned that before. Her thoughts were interrupted when Glimmer came running to her.
"Adora! I went to check on The Magicat, but I couldn't find her, and then I went to check on Madam Razz, and- and! I-" Glimmer started tearing up.
"I know." Adora said, quietly.
"I'm sorry." Glimmer held her head down in sorrow. She didn't know Razz for too long, but it was still terrible.
"Catra still hasn't come." Glimmer said.
"I know. And I'm worried." Adora told her. "I need some time to be alone."
"If Catra gets here, I'll tell you as soon as possible." Glimmer left her to grief.
When Glimmer was out of sight, Adora noticed something. A glow, coming from her pocket. She pulled out the Runestone and stared at it, then she looked to where Glimmer was. She realized what it meant.
She found its owner.
-
Catra only had one last chance to make this right. If she could save Light Spinner, then everything would be fine. She'll help her save everyone, and it'll all be okay. She just had to make one last stop before going to Light Spinner.
She went back to where she left her things, and changed her suit. Her new one wasn't that much better, but now she felt she didn't deserve it. Light Spinner designed it, and it was supposed to show how much she has progressed as a hero.
Guess she was still a poor excuse of one.
She took her Runestone, knowing that she'll need it against Light Spinner. She hadn't used its full potential in a long time, but without its strength, she would fail again.
'I'll save you. No matter what it takes.' She thought to herself.
-
Shadow Weaver brought Prime to City Hall. Before she would kill him, she had just enough time to talk to him about what she knew. What she remembered.
"How are you here?" She demanded.
"The same reason you are? I can hardly tell, myself." He chuckled.
"I'm supposed to be dead! You are too!!" She tightened her hold on him.
"But I won't waste this second chance. I thought of everything, once Catra finds out about herself, she'll start to question everything, and she won't save Adora this time." Prime smirked, despite pain.
"I won't let you win. Not after all I've worked for." Shadow Weaver growled.
"And it will all be for nothing. I know her more than you ever could, she'll never be able to do anything after she finds out what we all are. Remnants from the portal." Prime could feel the anger oozing off of her, and paid it no attention.
"And the best part is, you can't tell her either."
Shadow Weaver couldn't take anymore from him, so she wrapped her shadows around his neck and squeezed. Fortunately for him, he predicted that his death would not be too soon, as The Magicat arrived just in time to stop her.
She kicked Shadow Weaver in the face, making the shadows disappear, releasing the Mayor. Shadow Weaver got back up and turned to the interloper, and scowled at her.
"I told you not to interfere." She hissed.
"I'm not going to let you kill him. We can talk about this." The Magicat tried to reason.
"There is nothing to talk about. The sooner you understand that, the sooner we can rid ourselves of this monster!" Shadow Weaver disregarded her words, and prepared herself to fight.
"Listen to yourself! The Light Spinner I know would never want this, she wanted to help others. She never gave up, even when things got bad." The Magicat tried to remind her of her identity prior to her descent.
"That woman is dead!" Shadow Weaver proclaimed as she sent her shadows to attack.
The Magicat jumped away from them and turned to the Mayor. "Go!" She ordered as she continued to avoid the attacks.
He obeyed without question before giving Shadow Weaver one last smirk, angering her to no end. She attempted to attack him, but was held back by The Magicat.
"I will break you if I have to." Shadow Weaver warned.
"Wouldn't be the first time." The Magicat retorted.
Shadow Weaver lashed at her continuously until she caught her off guard, throwing her back.
"Give me the sword, Catra. If you value those that you protect, you will give it to me." Shadow Weaver demanded.
"Why? Why did you poison them?" The Magicat choked out, tearing up at the thought of Razz's sickly form.
"To weaken Prime's authority over the City. They won't trust him after they realize he won't protect anyone but himself. Then it would be easier to take him out." Shadow Weaver elucidated.
The Magicat went on the offensive without using her claws, trying not to harm her more than she needed to.
"I know you cared! Everything we did couldn't have meant nothing to you, it couldn't have been nothing!" The Magicat kicked at her, only to be thrown back by the shadows.
"It didn't mean nothing, yes, but it wasn't what I was concerned about. Everything we did paved the way for the destruction of Prime! And if you want to stand the way of my retribution, to protect a monster worse than anything you could dream of… Then you're no hero." Shadow Weaver lashed at her with her shadows, and missed with each hit.
The Magicat knew it was only a matter of time before she had to force her to stop, or else, the power they created would destroy her. The Runestones gave their chosen wielders great power, in order to give balance, not to destroy.
The shadows were an element of dark magic, which was just as dangerous as artificial magic if you weren't cautious when in training with it. Light Spinner seemed to already be skilled with her shadows, however.
Light Spinner was at the point of risking her own life to destroy Prime, just like Wrordak was. Saving her wouldn't excuse all of her failures, but if she couldn't do it, then she wouldn't be able to live with herself if she was the one responsible for all of this.
"At least, let me save you." Catra pleaded, as she made her way towards Light Spinner.
"You can't save me, Catra. You could have prevented all of this, only if you had listened to me." Shadow Weaver grabbed her with her shadows.
"Now, I am still willing to let you join me, if you give me the sword. But if you don't accept my offer, you will regret it." Shadow Weaver began to crush her, until she would hear her answer.
To her surprise, the Jade Eyes started glowing. Catra was using her Runestone's full potential, transforming her into a large panther, twice her size, with purple fur, and her suit turned into armor.
Despite her form, she was still in full control of herself. She only had a few hours left to use this for before she had to recharge to use it again, but she doubted that it would take that long to stop Her former boss.
She used the extra power her transformation gave her, to break out of Shadow Weaver's hold. The sorceress backed away from her, before steeling herself and summoning more shadows.
"This new form doesn't change anything, Catra. I will have that sword, no matter what it takes!" She proclaimed.
'I'm sorry.' Catra thought, before leaping towards Shadow Weaver. The sorceress jumped out of the way and used her shadows to attack in return. Normal strikes would barely do anything against Catra in this form, so she used a lot more force in hopes to bring her down.
Catra could still feel each hit, but she could withstand them in her new form. Shadow Weaver could only use so much power before it would drain her, just like Death's Touch.
Catra leapt at her and missed, then she was wrapped by shadows an thrown against a nearby wall. She recovered from the attack, and charged straight towards her and knocked her over.
Shadow Weaver was getting weaker by the second, and if she kept this up for much longer, she'd lose the fight. So she grabbed onto large objects nearby and started to attack relentlessly.
Catra went back on the offensive and charged at her again, but Shadow Weaver was prepared, as she stopped her before she could reach her this time. Catra was thrown back into the pavement, then she got back on her legs and dodged various projectiles thrown at her.
She made another leap and pounced on her enemy, before being thrown off to the side. Shadow Weaver was starting to overexert herself, but she still didn't stop fighting.
Catra noticed this and tried to subdue her before something bad happened, so she ran towards her, ignoring the incoming projectiles, proclushing through the shadows.
But when she got to her, Shadow Weaver fell to her knees. She hesitated, for confusion, and concern. Shadow Weaver used this chance to knock her back with an explosion of shadows, then she started panting in exhaustion.
Catra looked back at the weakened sorceress, and transformed back into her semi-human form.
"Light Spinner!" She called out as she ran to her.
Said sorceress looked up at her, then waved her arm, sending a tendril of shadow at her. Catra was knocked on her back, and the clanging of the sword reminded her of why she brought it. She held it in her hands and pointed it at Light Spinner, concentrating on using it's magic to heal her.
It did nothing. But she was talented in magic, while not as much as Adora, she could create spells that ranged from simple, to complex. She could feel a faint spark from the sword, but nothing else.
"It's useless, Catra. You can't save me." Shadow Weaver coughed.
"Don't say that! This has to work!!" Catra cried out in despair, channeling as much magic as she could from the sword. A futile effort.
"You are neither gifted in dark magic, nor are you chosen as She-Ra. I could've used its strength to cure everyone, but I couldn't have cured myself. I could've stopped Prime, but weakening the City's trust in him is a start." Shadow Weaver rested herself on her knees, trying to breathe steadily as she could.
"I had hoped that I would be able stop him now, but it looks like the spell has gotten the better of me, just as you have." She continued.
"I can take you to a hospital, or--" Catra stuttered out, but she was interrupted.
"I told you, it's useless." Shadow Weaver took off her mask, revealing the effects that the spell had done to her. Her skin had been scarred by the exertion of dark magic.
Catra's eyes began to tear up at the sight, her failures presented in front of her. She was no hero.
"Please, Catra… Protect them. Protect them from Prime, no matter what." Light Spinner said, holding onto Catra's shaking hand.
"But, I'm not a hero. I couldn't even save you with this sword." Catra clutched tightly onto the handle, tempted to throw it away.
"The sword is a great tool in the hands of She-Ra. It could heal the wounded, empower the Runestones, some even say 'Those who are touched by the magic of She-Ra, will have a bright future ahead of them'." Light Spinner smiled in reminiscence of stories.
"Based on recent events, I'd say that's just a myth." Catra scoffed.
"Don't take those words for granted. You still have Adora. You still have people help." Light Spinner reminded her.
'You help someone…' Catra realized what Light Spinner was saying. She had already accepted her fate, but she wanted her to keep saving people. She still had hope. She trusted her.
"Everything I worked for, to stop him. This is the end for me. But you? This is only the beginning, for you. I'm so proud of you, Catra." Light Spinner smiled, one last time.
Catra watched as Light Spinner's eyes closed, giving in to her curse, her fate. Catra hugged her in her arms as she breathed her final breaths. Letting her last memory be the warmth of her ward.
She let her rest before returning, setting out to do what she should've done. Trusting her old friend.
-
Adora was waiting on the roof, where she had left her sword. She was worried, and she was contemplating on how she would comfort her. Catra was going through something terrible, and rushing off to save the day was definitely not the right way to deal with this.
When Catra landed in front of her, she was surprised. And when she saw the state Catra was in, she couldn't help but feel anguished.
"Catra?" She asked.
"She's gone." Catra simply said, giving her a moment to realize what she meant.
"Catra… I'm sorry." Adora said.
"No. I'm sorry. I wasn't afraid that you weren't ready, and I'm not mad at you for not being ready. It was my fault for not trusting you, and from now on… I'm not going to leave you again." Catra held the sword in front of her, returning it to its rightful owner.
"You promise?" Adora asked.
"I promise." Catra answered.
Adora took the sword from her, and she stared into her eyes. She meant it. She trusted her, so she held the sword above her head, and she called out.
"For the Honor, of Grayskull!" Once again, she transformed into a warrior, with a red flowing cape, beautiful golden hair, and remarkable blue eyes. She looked to Catra again, who nodded at her.
She held the sword above her head once again, concentrating on her magic. She could feel it flow through her, and into the sword. She sent the magic straight into the sky, and hoped for the best.

That's the end of this chapter. First, I apologize one again for the delay. Second, when I said I would make a satisfying ending for everyone, I fibbed. I remembered that you can't please everyone. But I still have the ending to do, and then the next story after this, so please allow yourself a little excitement for that.
If you were wondering why I was late (Extremely late) for an update, I've been living my life, and that pretty much consists of reading, playing, and writing this for you readers. Maybe sprinkle a little food into the mix. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my latest chapter, and maybe even teared up a bit. Thank you for reading.
Right. Story idea. Anyways, I came up with another story that I want to write, and it's better than my previous ideas. So here's the pitch.
A love triangle. Wait, aren't there plenty of love triangles in the She-Ra fandom? Yes, but mine is probably one of the rarer love triangle stories. Any story you can find with a love triangle usually consists of Adora, Glimmer, and Catra. And Adora is always the focus of the love triangle, but this time, it's Glimmer.
So the story starts with Adora and Catra breaking up, it's sad. Later on, Catra meets Glimmer, who she begins to fall in love with. Glimmer is the one who brings out the best in her, but Adora doesn't trust Glimmer to be with Catra, so she tries to woo her first. Did I use that right?
I keep coming up with story ideas, which I'll definitely write. But maybe I'll leave them to someone else. You. That's right, when I get the chance, I'll write my own versions of those stories, but in the meantime, you can write them in the way you envision how they would turn out. If you do, could you tell me, so I could read them?
