Chapter Fourteen
Epilogue
'I bet she's been working on that hair poof, this whole time.' Catra thought to herself, while taking a bite of her food. Pete's food was the best, and whoever marries him is a lucky girl.
Three months after the Light Spinner's death, after Catra's promise, everything was back to normal… Almost everything. Adora cured the City, Glimmer still volunteers at F.E.A.S.T, and there's at least three robberies a week… but they were gone.
Light Spinner had told her what she needed to hear, and it might've not been the truth, but she knew what she had to do. She had to take down Prime, before he can do whatever he is planning to do.
For Light Spinner's sake.
She'll put it on the To-Do list. Adora told her, after she left, she had found the owner of the Moonstone. Glimmer. And there was training Adora, and the only person who knew anything about She-Ra was Norwyn.
And she has to figure out what to do with the rumors of her being the one who save the City, when it was Adora who cured everyone. Telling everyone about She-Ra now wouldn't be the best idea, considering that Adora isn't ready yet.
And there was the moving. She finally found a place to stay, but she had to find a job soon, so she wouldn't be an inconvenience to-
Ding!*
The door opened with a chime, revealing the City's hero in all her glory. Her beautiful eyes sparkling with eager anticipation, the adorable smile brightening her face, and that hair poof… There was nothing good to say about that hair poof.
"Hey Adora." Catra grinned.
"Hi Catra!" Adora greeted back.
After Adora used her magic to save the City, She-Ra was out of commission from such an overuse of magic. It seems that Adora was ready to be She-Ra again… More than ready. She was brighter than a flash spell with that smile.
"You wanna train, don't you?" Catra asked.
"I didn't even say anything!" Adora pouted.
"You didn't have to. That look on your face actually brought all the attention away from your hair poof." Catra joked.
"My hair is fine! Yours is the one that's a mess." Adora crossed her arms.
"My hair is fine, yours probably carries all that excess magic." Catra remarked.
"You always take the fun out of everything when you talk about my hair poof!" Adora pointed out.
"That's because being a hero isn't supposed to be fun." Catra replied.
"You didn't have fun when you started out?" Adora asked.
"Well, that was when I lost my best friends, so what do you think?" Catra said.
Adora frowned upon this reminder. "I'm sorry." She apologized. There were many things that made Catra upset in her line of work, whether she could've helped someone when they needed it, how much people she hurt, or the ones she lost.
"It's fine. We stay in touch now." Catra shrugged.
"Wha- Why are you never easy to deal with?" Adora narrowed her eyes at the feline.
"We should get you a cat, then you'll know why." Catra suggested.
"And deal with two of you? I only have enough love around to give to you." Adora replied.
Catra was a little surprised by that statement, but she figured it could've been a trap, and she was never one to catch the bait.
"Really? Then I guess I won't introduce you to Tabitha." Catra set up her own bait.
"Who's Tabitha?" Adora hesitantly asked.
"A new volunteer at F.E.A.S.T. She's a magicat, and she asked me about you." Catra answered.
"She asked about me? Why?" Adora caught the bait.
"Well, she's a fan." Catra frankly said, grinning at her prey.
"A fan? But no one else knows about She-Ra. We've been discreet!" Adora exclaimed.
Catra chuckled at her anxious breakdown. "She's a fan of your stories! She's looking to become a journalist, like you." Catra told her.
"Oh, right. My job…" Adora realized. "Speaking of jobs, did you find one yet? Maybe you can get another one at the Frost, I could send a letter reccomendation if you want?" Adora asked.
"No thanks. When I worked there, I was looking to get the same one you have, and instead I replaced the janitor." Catra reminded her.
"Yeah, you're right. Was that before, or after you crashed her birthday party?" Adora asked.
"Before. She doesn't really hate magicats in general. She just thinks I'm a bad influence, even though I volunteer at F.E.A.S.T." Catra said.
"No one knows that, and you've done plenty of property damage in the past few months." Adora told her.
"And someday, you're going to be able to cause all the property damage you want." Catra remarked.
"That's not something to look forward to." Adora said.
"Says you." Catra smirked.
Adora smiled. Catra had been through a lot, but she's never gonna change, and that's a good thing.
"Now, come on, did you find a job yet?" Adora asked.
"No, but maybe I can apply here?" Catra suggested.
"Please don't!" A voice called out.
They turned to see a scrawny young man, with blonde hair, mopping the floors in the back.
"Kyle?" Adora asked.
"Yep. That's me!" Kyle stopped mopping to say hi.
"How much of that did you hear?" Catra asked.
"I heard you talking about working here, and I'd like to keep my job this time." Kyle replied.
"Alright, maybe I can look elsewhere. There has to be something for me; Photography, Delivery, Singing?" Catra started suggesting careers she could take up.
"Singing?" Adora questioned.
"I could sing." Catra defended herself.
"I've never heard you sing." Adora told her.
"And maybe you never will." Catra sat back against the chair.
"One of these days, I'll learn your secrets." Adora smiled.
"You can try." Catra encouraged.
Things started to get quiet, then Adora noticed that Catra had a bag with her, which brought up a question.
"Are you going somewhere?" She asked.
"Yeah, I'm going to be at Glimmer's until the new place is finished. And you're going to help me move in." Catra said.
"Right, we've got to tell her." Adora stared in uncertainty. She had no idea how she was going to tell Glimmer about the Runestone, and she had every idea about how Catra was going to tell her. Bluntly, and suddenly.
"Not to mention that you're the one that's carrying it." Catra continued.
Adora frowned. She's definitely not going to give any warnings.
-
"Really? The whole kitchen?" Glimmer questioned as she, Catra, and Adora were moving Catra's belongings.
"Yeah, Adora nearly started crying when her Mom walked in and saw the fire!" Catra exclaimed.
"I do know how to make brownies, it's just that I forgot to put them out of the oven because I was too busy trying to catch Catra." Adora explained.
"And you put that priority over not setting the house on fire." Catra continued.
"Well, you had my diary! I've never read yours at all." Adora argued.
"Yeah, but you did eavesdrop on my breakup with Aimee, from 9th grade drama class." Catra reminded her.
"I was getting my jacket!" Adora defended.
"Then you moved in on me at the dance, the week after." Catra accused.
"I mean, how could I not? You were wearing your Dad's suit, have you seen yourself in that?" Adora asked.
"Unfortunately for you, I grew out of it." Catra smirked.
"Hey, you used to skate?" Glimmer asked as she pulled a skateboard from one of the boxes.
"Yeah. I stopped after the fourth time I broke my leg." Catra said.
"Fourth time!?" Glimmer exclaimed.
"You won't believe how common it is for a magicat to break a leg, mostly from climbing high places." Catra told her.
"You mean to tell me that you, the nice girl who works at the shelter, had a rebellious spirit?" Glimmer questioned.
"Oh, I can be bad." Catra smirked.
"Sure, Catra. You can be bad." Adora chuckled.
"Hey, what's this?" Glimmer pulled out a notebook this time, getting Adora's attention.
"Hey, that's my diary!" Adora snatched it out of Glimmer's hands.
"I can be bad." Catra repeated.
"You had a very interesting past, didn't you?" Glimmer asked Catra, as she pulled out various items, such as a little green badge, an old gray… cake? And what appeared to be a cheap Halloween costume of The Magicat's suit? This was way different in design, and very revealing.
"Ok, I was bad, let's just forget about this one, 'kay?" Catra said as she stored the dress away, with a bright red face.
"Oh, Catra, remember this?" Adora asked as she pulled out a picture of them.
Catra's tail froze, her ears raised up, and she took it in her hands. She couldn't forget this. It was one of the worst days of her life.
"I was accepted into Thaymor university. I was so excited when I read the letter, and then we took this picture… Then you told me, you weren't coming with me." Catra recalled the events of the photo, thinking about how she felt. She was heartbroken when Adora told her she was going somewhere else.
She realized just how much Adora meant to her, and back then, it hurt. But now, she understood what Light Spinner had told her.
Adora was the light of her life.
"What's this?" Glimmer was holding a small device that looked like a cat's face.
"Oh, that's a tracking device." Catra looked at it once, then brought her attention back to Adora.
"What!?" Glimmer exclaimed in confusion.
Catra snapped out of her thoughts and turned her head to Glimmer.
"Oh, it was supposed to emit a frequency that I could hear, but then I realized that I wouldn't be the only one to hear it, so I scrapped it." She explained.
"Why would you need a tracking device!?" Glimmer asked.
"In case I couldn't catch up to whoever I would place it on." Catra told her.
"Why? Who would you be chasing!?" Glimmer still didn't get it.
"Criminals." Catra said, bluntly.
"Wait… You really are The Magicat!?!" Glimmer's mind exploded.
"Yeah." Catra smiled at her shocked expression. "And there's something else we need to tell you."
Adora pulled out the Runestone from her pocket, and held it in front of Glimmer, to which it glowed brighter.
"We wanted to give you this." Adora told her.
"What is it?" Glimmer asked, as she took it from her.
"A Runestone. It's the source of your powers." Catra said.
"What powers?" Glimmer didn't understand what was going on, and could barely make any sense of what they were telling her.
"Well, we don't know yet. Wanna give it a test run?" Catra smirked.
Glimmer finally realized what was happening. This was a superhero origin story. And it took place during a moving.
"Sure?"
-
Horde Prime was glad that everything had been taken care of by The Magicat. It seemed that everything was back on schedule, now that he got what he wanted.
He entered his "Secret lab", which he figured that Adora would find because of her connection to the sword. And it was thanks to her that the people were cured of one of his projects.
But the true gratitude went to The Magicat, for overlooking what happened to his little brother after the attack. Without her noticing, he had Wrordak taken back in his possession.
Something Adora had missed was the true prize hidden in this room, the one project that would be useful until he gets what he needs from She-Ra. His little brother had been here the whole time.
"Now that our little brother is back, we can continue. And soon, you will be ready." Prime stared at his brother, who was fitted into the most advanced armor his underlings could build.
"The question is: Will Catra be ready?" Prime said, smirking at his brother's unconscious form.
The plan is underway.

And this chapter is finished! It's been short (Possibly the shortest?), I know, but after seeing the trailer for the new Spider-Man movie, I just had to release another chapter. This story is, for the time being, over. But in my next fic, it will be about Glimmer! Go Glimmer!
I just want to say, thanks for reading, and it's been fun. See ya next time!
P.S, It's going to be called: Brightglow. I can't come up with a better name.
