"aah! A great adventure book, now to the start of the first chapter, I wonder how peaceful the fist words will be" said Al smiling as he opened a thick book
Then Al threw the book in the air before a giant mantis claw stabbed the book from the other side, the book fell exactly in front of Al
"Sharp words for a first chapter" said Al smiling only to be met with silence "damn I miss those joker bugs"
"And DON'T COME BACK!" Al heard Rae yell from a distance with Kelp next to her
"Kids, come here for a second" said Al calmly and Kelp and Rae did so "now, I'm a fan of violence, I love it, but violence should be used responsibly, how? To destroy your enemies, deal with your ex, hide your existential dread or dark past, etc, you know! The usual!"
"I'm a bit concerned about the last part" said Rae with a confused look
Kelp just shrugged
"But using violence responsibly also entails, respecting people, as in pedestrians and friends, anyone else doesn't deserve mercy" said Al smiling "and that extends to me, I don't know if you know this, but I am quite fond of the literary arts, so you can't just stab my book like that"
"Isn't that the latest copy of the adventures of Tad team,the story of an adventure squad of little tadpoles, this is like kid-kid stuff" said Kelp inspecting the book
Al had a fearful look on his face
"You read children's books?" Asked Rae in confusion
"Hey! The adventures of Tad team has great thrilling scenes! wonderful plot! And great characters!" Yelled Al frowning "and we didn't have these back in my day, I never had the chance to read anything like this, darn old age"
"Eh, it's okay Al, I won't judge your choice of books" said Rae shrugging "yes! you're old and wrinkly! But that doesn't mean you can't play ball or do childish things...but it still weird to see... you of all people do it"
"Rude, thank you, Rude" said Al alternating between a frown and a soft smile "now, as a responsible guardian, I'm inclined to punish you two, so"
"Is this because she called you old?" Asked Kelp tilting his head
"Maybe" said Al bitterly before pointing "so you're punishment is...to clean that cave over there"
They looked at where Al pointed and they saw a normal cave, one Kelp even recognized
"What?! That cave is empty and super small, why would we even clean it? And it's a cave! We're not using it" said Kelp voicing the unfairness
"It's not empty, it has memories of someone I cared very deeply for" said Al shedding a tear "so get to work!...and give me back Tad team"
Al took the back the book and Rae and Kelp went to clean the cave with a buckets and mops

"Was Al always that insecure about his age?" Asked Rae raising a brow
"Maybe, I never asked" said Kelp shrugging "but we should focus on...this"
"I know! It's boring! I wish there was something more exciting here" said Rae frowning
"Like what?" Asked Kelp cheerfully
"Maybe like a secret hidden passage way that leads to_" said Rae leaning unto a wall before that wall broke down making Rae fall in "I should learn to shut up sometimes"
"Hey! A secret passage way, just like you said" said Kelp cheerfully "let's look inside!"
And they did so after Rae stood up again
And inside they saw a shiny black snake like creature with a worm's body
"A baby snake?" Asked Kelp scratching his head
"Woah! A Caecilian!" Said Rae excitedly
"A what?" Asked Kelp in confusion
"Well, when I was younger, my parents got me a ton of pets, one of them was a Caecilian" said Rae cheerfully
"How did you take care of all of them? This is already big enough for a pet" Asked Kelp in confusion
"They're much smaller in my world...and my family is *cough* incredibly rich *cough*" said Rae cheerfully "wait, maybe I can take it as a pet, do you think Al would refuse?"
Kelp shrugged and Rae approached the Caecilian before it warmed up to her rather quickly , Rae wrapped him around her neck like a scarf and they ran towards Al
And on the way they learned that it doesn't like Kelp

"Sure, why not" said Al nonchalantly
"Woah! Really?" Asked Rae happily
"Yeah, I had a few familiars of my own *sniff*" said Al crying "and they're all gone now *sniff*"
"What happened?" Asked Kelp with concern
"Old age, every familiar was unique from it's predecessors, those were the golden days" said Al sadly
"Wait, old age? Uncle Al, how old are you?" Asked Rae
"Too old, stopped counting after my 700s" said Al sadly
"Ok, Kelp let's go" said Rae and Kelp got the hint
They left to play with the Caecilian, now named Sandy after Rae's old Caecilian
They spent days together, the first things they did was try to make them like Kelp, which was difficult considering that they tried to bite him on multiple occasions
Then one day, the mantis Rae cut the hand of, returned with vengeance
Sandy jumped at it before
It ate Sandy whole, Rae was about to jump the mantis and rip it limb from limb
But they saw it shake and move oddly for a minute or two before falling like a doll that lost it's strings
Then they saw Sandy wiggle it's way through the mantis's mouth calmly, Rae hugged Sandy before it went and swallowed the mantis whole
"I'm glad I didn't get bitten" said Kelp witnessing the spectacle
"Yup, very snake like, you would've been super dead" said Rae cheerfully
Then Sandy wiggled it's way to Kelp and spat out some mantis flesh
"Uh, thanks?" Said Kelp in confusion
"I think that's a peace offering" said Rae smiling
"Oh! It's ironic to give some spoils of war as peace offering but thanks!" Said Kelp cheerfully "now with enthusiasm!"
Rae and Kelp laughed while Sandy purred happily
