It was the early day in Retroville. At the Wheezer household Carl and Sheen were currently playing a game in Carl's bedroom. The game in question was a board game called Llama's day out. Sheen rolled a pair of dice. The dice landed on a three and a four. "Seven! Hehehaha! Your llama is sucked into a volcanic sinkhole where flesh eating bats will nip at his screaming face!" Sheen chuckled.
"Sheen! There aren't any volcanic sinkholes in llama's day out!" Carl cried as Sheen grabbed handful of popcorn from a bowl next to him. "Maybe that explains why I'm not having fun!" said Sheen. Sheen continued to snack on the popcorn. Carl's door opened the Neutron twins entered and walked up to them. "Hi Carl, I ran outta chemicals mid experiment and I know you got a chemistry set for your birthday." Jimmy said with a grin.
Sheen continued to play the game and threw the dice onto the board again. The dice landed on a six and a five. "Eleven!" Sheen cheered. "Hey you can use my chemistry set Jim." Carl told Jimmy while giving him a pat on the back. Carl walked over to a shelf and grabbed a box off the top of some board games.
Carl looked at the box silently reading the top of it. "Oh, the potato is not included." Carl said as he turned to face Jimmy. "Uh that's okay. I assume it comes with a few ccs of ethyl mercaptan?" Jimmy asked. Carl scanned the box checking the ingredients that were included. It didn't take him too long to find out that the set didn't have the ingredient in question.
"Uuuuh. No." Carl replied. "Well I can work around that, how 'bout some uh dymecurosolvonative?" Jimmy asked. Carl checked the box again. "Uuuuuuh yea-no." Carl replied. "Tritium nitrate?" Jimmy asked.
"I got salt." Carl replied. "Oh pukin' Pluto. How's a guy supposed to make a four-dimensional hypercube molecule without access to the complete spectrum of inorganic chemicals?" Jimmy said a little frustrated. "Oh, Carl before I forget I need my art kit back." Penelope piped in. At the mention of this Carl looked at Penelope with an uncomfortable expression on his face. "Uh, I kinda used it for something. Ehhehehe and I kinda went a little crazy with it." Carl said nervously.
Carl put the chemistry set down for a moment then walked back over to the shelf with Penelope in tow and grabbed Penelope's art kit off it. Carl handed her the kit. Penelope opened the kit. The moment she did her mouth fell open. Almost all of her paint was used up the colored pencils were really short along with the crayons.
"I am never lending anyone my art kit again." Penelope said horrified as she walked back over to Jimmy. "Welcome to my nightmare." Sheen sarcastically told the twins. Jimmy and Penelope rolled their eyes at Sheen. Carl walked over to Jimmy with a yellow-orange piece of paper in hand while Sheen started picking popcorn out of his teeth.
"Here you go Jimmy check out this leaflet from inside the box. And there's one in your kit Penelope." said Carl. Jimmy took the paper from Carl. Penelope looked inside her kit. There was a light purple paper inside a small pouch. She pulled the paper out.
The twins started reading the respective papers. "Also try our ultra-deluxe model, contains every element from aluminum to zirconium! Now that's what I'm talking about!" said Jimmy. "Don't forget to try our mega kit. It comes with fifty more colors than the super kit. Now that's just what I need!" said Penelope. The two then frowned in realization. They didn't have the money to buy these items.
Jimmy sighed then walked over towards an empty chair and sat in it. "Ah who are we kidding we don't have any money and our birthday's three months away." said Jimmy. Penelope knew this was true. 'I wish I had saved my allowance more.' Penelope thought. Sheen continued to munch on popcorn.
"Ah quit procrastinating Carl, bu- I'm not- forget it! I'm rolling for you." Sheen said impatiently. Sheen grabbed the dice and rolled again. One die landed on one the other die however did not land on the board, but a piece of popcorn landed in it's place. Sheen however didn't notice this. "One! Hahaha ha! And Carl's llama falls down, down into the sulfurous mud pit. How the snake god will be pleased!" said Sheen.
Carl walked up to Sheen. "Hey how could you roll a one if there are two dice?" Carl asked confused. "Huh? Oh, Yeah uh..." Sheen said confused as well. Sheen picked up the die and the piece of popcorn. He looked at them.
Sheen's eyes widened as the realization of what happened to the other die hit him. Sheen dropped the items and clutched his throat. "Someone get me the jaws of life!" Sheen cried. Later the four were in Jimmy's hovercar flying down the road. Sheen had one of his Ultra Lord figures in hand.
He had the toy extended out of the hovercar moving it up and down making it look like it was flying. As for Carl he had a pinwheel that was spinning in the wind. "Oh, I wish I could invent something that would chew up three months of our life." Jimmy said a little gloomily. Penelope nodded in agreement as she glanced at her twin. Carl's pinwheel flew out of his hand and into the street below.
"Summer school trust me." Sheen told Jimmy. "Too bad you can't use your Hypno thing-a-majigy to make your parents think your birthday's next week." said Carl. At the mention of this Jimmy went silent for a moment as he came up with an idea. Penelope grinned having an idea of where this was going. "Carl that's brilliant!" said Jimmy.
"Really, but I said it." said Carl. "No, no, think about it Carl. I mean my parents enjoy seeing me and Penelope happy, don't they?" Jimmy told his friend. "That's true, it'd be selfish to make them wait another three months to give the two of you gifts when they could give them to you next week!" said Sheen. "Next week! I can't stand to make them suffer one more day! To the lab!" Jimmy cried. Jimmy increased the hovercar's speed and turned in the direction towards the Neutron house.
As soon as they got there they wasted no time going down into the lab. Jimmy grabbed the Hypno-beam off the counter he left it on. Jimmy tapped the clear plastic bit in the center of the device. "Okay now to set the Hypno command. He-hem." said Jimmy. Jimmy pressed a button on the handle.
The disk began to swirl. Jimmy placed the device up to his mouth. "Tomorrow is Jimmy and Penelope's birthday." said Jimmy. Jimmy pressed the button again with a smile. Penelope grinned at her brother.
The two headed up into the house. In the house Hugh and Judy were in the living room sitting on the couch. Judy giggled as Hugh finger-walked his hand up her arm. "Here comes Mr. Walky man!" said Hugh. "Hugh!" Judy giggled.
"Walk walk walk walking' man." Hugh continued. He pressed his lips together and made a pffpt sound. "Oh." said Judy. "He he." Hugh laughed. "He he." Judy giggled.
The twins entered the living room. Penelope had to keep herself from making a face at her parents romance. "Mom! Dad! Look over here!" Jimmy said getting their attention. Hugh and Judy looked and at that moment Jimmy pointed the Hypno-beam at them pressed the button on the handle firing a yellow beam of energy at them. Hugh and Judy's pupils and irises were replaced with red swirls.
The two adults for a moment just sat still. Hugh and Judy blinked then shook it off. "It's not polite to point son." said Hugh. Jimmy and Penelope were shocked. Jimmy examined the Hypno-beam disheartened and wondering what went wrong.
"But I guess we can let it slide cause it's you and your sisters birthday tomorrow!" said Hugh. Jimmy grinned and looked at the Hypno-beam proud. Penelope also grinned. Judy gasped and turned to look at Hugh. "Oh my gosh, Hugh!" Judy cried.
"Presents." Judy whispered into Hugh's ear. "Oh, sweet petunias we have to go to the mall for Jimmy and Penelope!" Hugh muttered. "Oh and what are you going to buy?" Jimmy asked feigning nonchalance as the two walked over to the front door. "Hu-um ah- groceries!" Judy quickly replied. "And gift wrap." said Hugh.
Judy gently hit Hugh in the arm. "Uh for the groceries." Hugh quickly added. "Okay, I'll just stay here and play with my woefully out of date chemistry set!" said Jimmy. "I'll stay and keep my brother company while I paint him a picture with my old art kit!" Penelope cheerfully added. Hugh and Judy glanced at each other having an idea of what to buy their children for their "birthday".
"And don't you two dare look when we come back! You want the groceries to be a surprise!" Judy told the twins. Hugh nodded his head in agreement as Judy began to slowly shuffle out of the house. "Swift one sugar booger." Hugh whispered to Judy. Judy giggled in agreement. "Don't burn down the house down kids, buh-bye." Hugh told the twins as he walked out closing the door behind him.
Jimmy and Penelope grinned at each other. The very next day the backyard of the Neutron household was all set up for an amazing party. All the kids from Jimmy and Penelope's class had been invited. The kids were all milling about. There was a pin the tail on the donkey game on the wall of Jimmy's clubhouse that some of the guests were playing.
Hugh and Judy were by the refreshments table talking. There was also a clown blowing balloons for kids. He looked sad and like he didn't really didn't want to be there. "Hey, here's another one kids." the clown said gloomily. A llama ran around the yard and Carl cheerfully chased after it.
"Hey Jim, Penelope ha ha!" Carl chuckled as he ran by. "Giggles special." the clown Mr. Giggles told the kids. Nick was standing over by the patio with the twins. "Cool party Neutron, but uh, aren't you and your sister kinda old for the clown thing?" Nick commented. "Ah you know parents they all like thinking we're still five years old." said Jimmy.
Nick nodded in agreement. With Sheen the clown Mr. Giggles finished tying a purple balloon into the shape of a llama while Sheen watched in wonder. He handed the newly made balloon animal to Sheen. "That was amazing! Did you have to swear a circus oath to never reveal the source of your clown powers!" Sheen cried. "Don't make fun of me." Mr. Giggles replied.
Hugh and Judy walked up to the twins carrying two unwrapped boxes. "Happy birthday Jimmy and Penelope!" Hugh and Judy said in unison before passing the boxes to the twins. Jimmy and Penelope happily accepted the gifts. The box for the chemistry set had an illustration of two kids that looked excited along with the words "The Ultra Deluxe Chemistry Set!" printed on the front. The art kit had an illustration of a child that looked happy as they painted a picture and the words "Mega Art Kit" printed on the front.
"Eh, remember when we said we were getting groceries? Well, we got some, and then we stopped and got these!" said Hugh. "No!" the twins said in false disbelief. "Yes! Hehaha." Hugh said with a chuckle. "We were utterly fooled." said Jimmy. Hugh and Judy walked away.
Cindy and Libby who weren't even invited to the party walked up to the twins. "You're both having a birthday party and you didn't even invite us Neutron?" Cindy demanded. Libby shot Cindy a look. "Not that we'd wanna come." Cindy added rather hastily. "Sorry- eh it was kinda unexpected." said Jimmy.
"What do you mean? Don't ya both know when your own birthday is?" Libby asked. "Yes, of course, in fact we have another one coming up in a couple months." Jimmy replied. Penelope winked knowingly. Cindy and Libby stared at the twins looking dumbfounded before turning to each other and sharing a look. Judy walked up to the group holding two plates of cake and two goodie bags.
"Cindy! Libby! Have some cake and goodie bags." Judy said cheerfully to the girls. She handed them the cake and goodie bags. Cindy and Libby were shocked at first, but accepted. The two looked at their slices of cake and goodie bags and smiled. Meanwhile Hugh was talking to Mr. Giggles who was attempting to blow a balloon into the shape of a duck.
"Hi how's it going, so which kid is yours?" Hugh asked. "I'm the clown." Mr. Giggles replied. "Oh, ehha I uh didn't want to assume. Well in this house we never judge people by the- multicolored of their skin." Hugh said not realizing Mr. Giggles was wearing make-up. This however caught him off guard causing him to lose his grip on the duck balloon. The balloon went flying releasing the air inside.
Later at night the twins were both in their rooms. Penelope looked at the picture she had recently painted and smiled. "I feel bad about tricking Mom and Dad, but the party was fun and I got a new art kit." Penelope softly told herself. Penelope yawned then turned off her light and went to sleep. With Jimmy the boy genius was also about to turn in for the night.
On his nightstand was his new and improved hypercube. The cube emitted a purple light from the top illuminating the dark room. "Ah great birthday, great four-dimensional hypercube." said Jimmy. Goddard laid his head on Jimmy's lap. Jimmy pet Goddard's muzzle.
"Night Goddard." Jimmy told the mechanical canine. Jimmy laid down and fell asleep the moment his head hit the pillow. Soon the morning came. Jimmy was still asleep. He snored as he slept.
"Happy Birthday Jimmy!" came Hugh and Judy voices. This woke Jimmy up. He opened his eyes to see his parents and sister in his room. Hugh and Judy had a new wrapped present in hand as they grinned at their son. Penelope was standing next to them grinning a little.
"Wha-eh-d-did you say todays my birthday?" Jimmy asked. "Hehe that's right." said Hugh. "You and your sisters party is already started; we called all your friends." said Judy. Jimmy looked at Goddard and then grinned at his parents. "And almost half of them called us back! We even hired-" Hugh said as he looked over at Judy with a grin.
"A clown!" Hugh and Judy cried in unison. Later outside the new party was turning out to be a lot like the one from yesterday. Kids were playing pin the tail on the donkey. Carl was chasing a llama across the yard. "This is so cool! Woo hahaha." Carl cheered.
The clown Mr. Giggles instead of making balloon animals he was doing a trick that involved spitting out colorful handkerchiefs. "That's awesome! No, it's better than awesome. It's clown-nificent!" Sheen cried as Mr. Giggles continued to do his trick. Mr. Giggles just like yesterday didn't look happy. In fact he looked like he wanted a way out. Over by the patio Jimmy and Penelope were once again confronted by Cindy and Libby.
"He ha lemme guess Neutron you've finally driven your parents insane." said Cindy. "We know somethings up and we're gonna find out what!" Libby told the twins. Judy walked up to the four of them with two plates of cake and paper bags in hand. "Cindy! Libby! Have some cake and goodie bags!" said Judy. Cindy and Libby smiled then glanced at each other and accepted the treats.
"You were saying?" Jimmy asked with a smug look. Penelope smirked a little. "Happy birthday Jimmy and Penelope!" Cindy and Libby said in unison. Hugh approached Mr. Giggles who continued to do his trick. "Hi-ya! Clownie!" said Hugh.
He pat Mr. Giggles on the back. This caused him to accidently re-swallow the handkerchiefs. He clutched his throat before letting out a gulp. Jimmy and Penelope were both standing near the refreshments table watching everyone party. Jimmy had his Hypno-beam in hand.
Carl walked up to the twins with a slice of cake. "I thought you and Penelope were only gonna do this once Jimmy?" Carl asked confused. "I-I must've worded the Hypno command wrong. I'll undo it right now." said Jimmy. Jimmy primed the Hypno-beam and pointed it at Hugh and Judy ready to undo the hypnosis.
But then he noticed how they were both smiling and interacting with the party-goers. Even Penelope noticed this. "Although... I could use a few more beakers and test tubes." Jimmy said thoughtfully. "And I could also use some more paint brushes." Penelope said in agreement. The next day came around. Jimmy was asleep in his bed.
There were two boxes discarded in the corner by the experiment kit on the floor. Jimmy's bedroom door opened. Just like yesterday Hugh and Judy entered the room. "Happy birthday Jimmy!" Hugh and Judy cried with smiles on their faces. The boy genius woke up to the sound of his parents voices.
Later outside at the third party Jimmy was standing next to the refreshments table with Nick. "Three birthday parties in a row. You're one lucky dude Neutron." said Nick. Sheen who was blindfolded stumbled over with a donkey tail in hand. "Jimmy's not lucky! He is a genius!" said Sheen. "Yeah, I'm going to Jimmy and Penelope's birthday every day for the rest of my life!" Carl said as he passed by with two plates of cake.
Nick looked at Carl confused for a moment. Penelope walked up to her twin with a smile. Four days later. The current party unfortunately wasn't very fun. Most of the party-goers looked tired and sick.
Carl walked up to the the twins holding a paper bag. "Happy seventh birthday this week, Jim, Penelope. Um, I kinda ran outta gift ideas so I brought you two some meat from my refrigerator." said Carl. The bag was moist and the contents sloshed as Carl presented it. Penelope grimaced at the sight of the bag. Over in the area by Mr. Giggles Oleander, Amber and Kevin were gathered.
They looked really bored. Mr. Giggles looked really downtrodden and broken. "How bout the quarter behind the ear?" Mr. Giggles suggested. "You did that yesterday!" Oleander complained. "I could make my hair go up and down?" Mr. Giggle suggested as his hat fell off.
"You did that one Thursday." Amber complained. "New tricks, new tricks, new tricks!" Oleander, Amber and Kevin chanted. Cindy and Libby were both sitting on the back porch holding their stomachs and looked like they were very close to throwing up. Judy walked up to them with cake and goodie bags. "Cindy! Libby! Have some cake and goodie bags!" said Judy.
Cindy and Libby covered their mouths and gagged as their stomachs churned loudly. "No thanks Mrs. Neutron." Cindy politely declined. "Do you have any carrot sticks or maybe some ant-acid?" Libby asked. The two girls sounded like they were gonna be sick. Judy only shook her head before forcing the cake and goodie bags into their hands.
"Live a little, girls! Jimmy and Penelope's birthday only comes once a year!" Judy cheerfully told them. Cindy and Libby looked at each other in shock then their expression changed to looking like they were about to sob. Back at the table with Mr. Giggles and his small audience he fanned himself with his hat. "And now I'm gonna uuuhmm pull a mysterious label outta my hat!" said Mr. Giggles. He tore off a label attached to the inside of his hat.
"Dry clean only ha ha- hahaha ha." Mr. Giggles told the kids. The kids all started booing and throwing stuff at him. Mr. Giggles shielded himself with his hands. "Come on." said Carl. Not too far from where Carl was standing Jimmy and Penelope both watched the party-goers.
They couldn't help, but notice everyone's boredom as well as some of the guests looking kinda sickly. Sheen walked by blindfolded holding a donkey tail. "No donkey is safe from my awesome tail-pinning abilities!" said Sheen. Sheen walked over to Carl. "Hey what are you-?" Carl began.
"Aaow!" Carl shrieked as Sheen pinned the tail onto his backside. Carl jumped over to the twins. "Oops my bad Carl." Sheen apologized. "Ah -ow!" Carl winced as he pulled the tail out. "-No offense Jimmy, Penelope, but if you two wanted to skip your birthday for a few days. I wouldn't mind." Carl told the twins.
"I have to agree with Carl Jimmy." said Penelope. Jimmy looked at his Hypno-beam. He knew his friend and sister were right. "Ugh yeah I'm getting a little tired of the party bit myself Carl, Penelope I guess nothing lasts forever." said Jimmy. Sheen still blindfolded started walking by them.
"Summer school trust me." Sheen scoffed. Jimmy pressed the button on the Hypno-beam. "Hypno beam reprogram." said Jimmy. Jimmy and Penelope both started marching in the direction of their parents. Mr. Giggles was reading a book titled "Beginners magic".
"Okay here's a new one I take something from the audience and hit it with a hammer." said Mr. Giggles. He noticed Jimmy and Penelope walking by as well as the Hypno-beam in Jimmy's hand. "That'll do just fine." Mr. Giggles said snatching the device from Jimmy. Jimmy and Penelope's eyes widened in shock as Mr. Giggles started hitting the Hypno-beam with a hammer. "Hey-hey no!" the twins shouted.
The Hypno-beam cracked and broke into pieces as Mr. Giggles kept hitting it. Mr. Giggles looked at his book again and realized he made a mistake with his trick. "Oh, wait says put it under a hankey and pretend to hit it. Anyone got a hankey?" Mr. Giggles asked. Jimmy and Penelope both looked distraught. Jimmy picked the broken Hypno-beam up off the table and examined it.
"We're stuck in our birthday!" said Jimmy. Penelope's face paled. The next day arrived. In the corner of Jimmy's room there was huge pile of discarded gifts. Penelope crept into her brothers room with a look of fear on her face.
Penelope gently shook her brother awake. Jimmy glanced out of the corner of his eye. Penelope could see the look of fear on her twins face. Hugh and Judy entered the room with smiles on their faces. Jimmy and Penelope turned to look at them.
"Mom, Dad. Um, listen is it okay if we don't have a birthday party today?" Jimmy asked. Penelope nodded her head in agreement to this. Hugh and Judy both grinned widely at their children. "Well of course you're both not ha-having a birthday party today Jimbo, Penel. You're both going off to college!" Hugh told them. "College!" the twins cried.
"Happy eighteenth birthday!" Hugh and Judy cried in unison. Penelope looked like she was about ready to faint. Hugh kneeled down a little to speak to Jimmy. "And since we seem to be up to our chinny chin chins in massive paralyzing debt! Mr. Giggles will be moving into your room." Hugh told Jimmy. Jimmy was horrified.
Hugh turned to Penelope. "And we're gonna turn your room into a yoga room Penel. Oh, yeah so much stretching..." Hugh said as he stretched causing his back to pop. Hugh had a slight pained expression, but shook it off. Penelope's mouth fell open in shock. Mr. Giggles entered the room. He set down a suitcase then gave Jimmy and Penelope a peace sign.
Mr. Giggles walked up to Hugh and Judy. He squeezed Judy's nose twice while honking a horn. Hugh and Judy laughed. "I never get tired of that one." said Hugh. The two started walking out of the room.
"Wa-wa-wait we're not eighteen! You can't just give my bedroom away to some creepy circus performer!" Jimmy cried. "And you can't turn my room into a yoga room!" Penelope added. Hugh and Judy grinned at them widely making them look super creepy. "See you two downstairs at your going away party!" Judy cried. The two walked out and Hugh closed the door behind him.
Mr. Giggles looked around the room. "Ah! This is the life; say could you teach me how to get my hair in that ridiculous shape?" Mr. Giggles asked. Jimmy unamused frowned. Later down in the kitchen Jimmy and Penelope were sitting at the kitchen table. There was a cake with eighteen lit birthday candles and a banner with the words "Good luck Jimmy and Penelope" on it.
Jimmy and Penelope were both trying to explain to their parents that they were still children. "So you see you were hypnotized the whole time. We're still just kids really! I-I like sugary cereals and uh I think girls are icky a-and everything!" Jimmy explained. "And I still sleep with Mr. Quakers!" Penelope added. Hugh and Judy who were both still grinning glanced at each other. "Surprise!" Hugh and Judy cried in unison.
"Huh?" the twins said in unison. "We know it's not really your birthday Jimmy, Penelope." said Judy. "Y-you know?" Jimmy asked a little surprised. Judy blew out the candles on the cake as Hugh started to speak. "Yes, we know." said Hugh.
The two adults sat down at the table as Hugh continued. "When Mr. Giggles broke your thing-a-majigy it undid that dark and sinister hold you had over our thoughts." Hugh explained. "From now on you'll both just have to wait for your birthday like everyone else." Judy told the twins. "Eh- oh and Carl's mom wants her meat back." said Hugh. Jimmy and Penelope both looked at their parents with guilty and apologetic expressions.
"W-we're sorry we tricked you guys, but your parties were so much fun, for a while." Jimmy said apologetically. "Sorry." Penelope told their parents. Mr. Giggles walked up to the open kitchen window. "Jimmy, Penelope clowns and balloons don't make kids happy moms and dads make kids happy." said Mr. Giggles. Jimmy and Penelope smiled having learned this was very true.
Hugh and Judy looked at each other with smiles before turning their attention back to Mr. Giggles. "Well, what a lovely sentiment Mr. Giggles you've got a heart as big as your shoes." Hugh complimented. "Thanks here's my bill." Mr. Giggles replied handing Hugh a green paper with a smiley face watermarked on it. Hugh took the paper and pulled his glasses up to see if his eyes were correct. There were a bunch of numbers and the number at the bottom clearly read that the bill came to a total of $1695.00.
"Holy coconuts!" Hugh cried. Judy shocked grabbed the paper from her husband and stared at it. Hugh due to the shock fainted. Judy started fanning Hugh with the paper. The twins however didn't want to stick around and started to slink away while their parents were occupied.
"Uh if you need us, we'll be reflecting on how fortunate we are to have such forgiving parents bye-" said Jimmy. Judy however cut them off before they could start running. "Not so fast young man! The same goes for you too young lady! There's still the matter of your punishments." Judy said in an authoritative tone. 'Now we're in for it.' Penelope thought as her face paled. Hugh still unconscious fell over.
Sometime later at the school kids were playing outside. Jimmy and Penelope were both inside. Jimmy was scrubbing the floor of one of the classrooms by hand with a scrub brush. Penelope on the other hand was sweeping the floor. "No one with a genius IQ should have to scrub floors to pay off a clown... how long does this go on for?" said Jimmy.
Sheen, Butch and Wendall were all seated at their desks. "Forever! Trust me." said Sheen. Upon hearing this Jimmy and Penelope both had distraught looks on their faces. This was going to be a long summer. Outside the school Carl was running away screaming as a llama chased him. It would be safe to say the Neutron twins would wait for their birthday from now on.
Well how was it? R&R. Tips on what I can do to improve welcome. No flamers please.
