Author's Note: In this fic, Jake doesn't try to become Student Council President and doesn't unwittingly attract the magical creature seeking the mind-reading helmet. As a result, Nigel wins.

Chapter 13: Siren Says

"Jake, are you sure you don't want to join the auction?" Nigel Thrall asked Jake.

"Nigel, I've already told you Rose is the only girl for me." Jake replied.

"But she's behind magical bars, mate." Nigel argued. "Even Spud is entering."

"I thought he was upset over you not agreeing to use the auction's earnings to help kids who get sick from playing videogames in the car." Jake commented.

"And I am but a date is a date." Spud replied as he showed up. "But honestly, what could be more important than help kids who play videogames in the car?"

"Feeding hungry puppies, Spud." Trixie answered.

"That's what you and Nigel think." Spud argued. Jake decided to avoid that discussion.

After the auction, Jake was at the skate park when one of his classmates approached him. "Danika?"

"Jake, I haven't seen you at the auction." Danika Hunnicut commented.

"My heart still belongs to Rose." Jake replied.

"That's cute but nobody has heard any news from her ever since her "uncle" went into hiding to avoid abduction charges." Danika argued.

"Hope springs eternal." Jake said.

"Well, if you ever get over her, call me." Danika said and left.

Jake felt bad for not being allowed to tell people about Rose but his thoughts on the matter were interrupted by Trixie calling for him. "Jakey, Spud's in trouble!"

"What happened?" Jake asked.

"Vicky Fickling somehow got Spud to do something reckless just by saying he should do it." Trixie explained.

"Sounds like she's a siren." Jake commented.

"Really?" Trixie was skeptic. "She doesn't look the part."

"Unlike what fiction suggests, sirens don't have to be beautiful, Trixie." Jake said. "They use a magical object to attract their victims. Now let's go."

Trixie led Jake to where Spud and Vicki were but Vicki had already left. "Where's Vicki?" Jake asked.

"She left." Spud answered. "Why do you ask?"

"I'll tell at Grandpa's, Spud." Jake answered, suggesting it had something to do with a magical emergency.

"A siren?" Spud was shocked. "Don't tell Vicki I said that but she doesn't look beautiful enough to be a siren." He said, prompting Jake to repeat what he told Trixie. "Something magical? Well, the stone in her necklace seemed to glow before I lost control of myself." He commented.

"At this point, I'd say to inform the Dragon Council and let them investigate but the noble animal search is keeping them too busy." Lao Shi stated. "What do you suggest?"

That night, Spud and Vicki were having pizza at Lombardo's. Spud was trying to put ketchup on his slice but accidentally squirted it on Vicki's shirt. "I'm so sorry!" He exclaimed.

"I'm washing it in the bathroom." Vicki said. "Wait for me, please."

While in the ladies' room, Vicki found herself surrounded by two dragons: The Korean Dragon and her pupil. Since the dragons were female, Vicki couldn't control them.

The next morning, Principal Park informed the students that the Ficklings moved and Vicki had to leave. "Could they be from the same cult as Rose's family?" One student asked another one.

"Now I get why some people say reality is stranger than fiction." Jake whispered to his friends.
