~Four Years Later~
Just two weeks before the brats were to graduate Tsume stormed her way into the Hokage's office "Sandaime-sama I'm asking you personally to rearrange those teams, let Hinata, Kiba and Stray be together and have Shiranui be their Jonin" Tsume pleaded.
Knowing exactly what was going to happen if the brats didn't end up on the same team as one another "Now Tsume you know that teams are made based on scoring, Sakura is already assigned to a squad with Naruto and Sasuke, while Hinata and Kiba are with Shino" Hiruzen sighed.
Lowering his pipe "Don't make me get other clan heads involved, you know it only takes three for a decision to be turned over…I wouldn't be so adamant about it Sandaime-sama but those brats can make it work I know they can and Shiranui is just the one to lead them" Tsume informed.
Not afraid to abuse such a power for the sake of her sanity mostly "I suppose I have no choice then and be warned Kurenai will likely come for you Tsume, she's been looking forward to having students and will be vastly disappointed" Hiruzen relented.
After a five minute staring contest in which Tsume didn't blink or move a muscle, indicating she meant business and wouldn't be backing down on the matter "Kurenai's easy to handle I just don't want to deal with sulky brats" Tsume snorted.
Turning on her heel and marching from the office with a satisfied grin on her face, leaving the Hokage to rearrange a couple of teams, Team 7 and 8 to be precise as he moved Shino to Team Seven and Sakura over to Team 8 before renaming it Team 4.
Then after all that he had to summon Kurenai and Genma to his office "Your what Hokage-sama I assure you I'm fully qualified" as expected Kurenai wasn't happy with the new arrangement or that she now had to wait for a squad of genin.
While Genma flicked his senbon back and forth no doubt contemplating over his new position "Well if it's those Kids then I'll take the job Sandaime-sama, no offense Kurenai but those three need me more than they need you" Genma shrugged.
Deciding to accept the offer and be their sensei "This isn't about qualification, I know your experienced to tackle the task Kurenai but I fully believe Tsume might be right, these three children will be a team like no other and Genma knows them personally" Hiruzen sighed.
Ending the argument by dismissing his Jonin, outside the office Kurenai shot her former classmate a dirty look before body flickering in a flurry of rose petals rather dramatically, while Genma since he now had genin to train/torture the term was relative, he decided to prepare ahead of time.
Starting with writing out what he planned to do as a post graduation test, followed by a detailed training schedule for his little minions "Now to just get everything approved for the day of" Genma sat back with a satisfied gleam in his eyes.
The wait until graduation day was long and frustrating but he remained patient, spying on his little genin as they took the test to become genin, each of them thankfully passing and receiving their headbands to his relief.
He couldn't help the smile that formed when the kiddies were let out and Sakura bounded over to her parents, pictures were taken and then she waved to her friends as her parents dragged her and Naruto off to celebrate becoming a ninja.
"So Blossom we already know what we're giving you as a graduation gift but we thought if there was anything you wanted as well you could ask for it" Kizashi declared, a little sad because now his daughter and honorary son were all grown up and considered adults now in their world.
The pinkette paused in devouring her favorite kind of fish to think the request over when something hit her with a jolt as she stared at her fingertips "Maybe the fingertip markings that is normal for Nekozuka children" Sakura offered with a hopeful smile.
Kizashi wasn't even going to pretend he understood what she meant "If that's what you want sweetie then of course and here, four gifts one of which is for Boei" Mebuki shrugged just as confused as her husband.
"Same goes for you Naruto-kun, if there is any one thing you want that we can get for you that's within reason of course tell us" Kizashi settled his blue eyes on the blonde who was practically a part of their family.
Unfortunately despite taking him in, the Council and the Hokage had forbade them from adopting Naruto "Really anything…what about a pack of smoke bombs and some dye, I want to make an awesome impression on my sensei tomorrow whoever their gonna be" Naruto perked up.
Asking for pranking supplies pretty much "Okay, okay just try not to go overboard with the prank alright Naruto and here's a few graduation gifts for you as well" Mebuki laughed, watching the children tear into their presents.
Sakura got some ties for her hair, a new neutral colored outfit in black with the exception of the new sandals in red and a pack of shuriken, as for Boei he got a vest, a metal plate with Leafs insignia engraved upon it for him.
While Naruto he received, a new outfit in dark blue, no more orange monstrosities it seemed, new sandals and a new pack of kunai "I'm going to go see Mrs. Inuzuka about those marks now" Sakura declared.
Once she was finished eating and washing her dishes to not be lazy even if it was a special day "The..Then will you accompany me to the shop please" Naruto requested the minute Sakura was gone from the house as he directed his gaze onto his honorary parents.
Luckily it didn't take much convincing and soon they were gone from the house as well, twenty minutes later Sakura reached her destination "We've been waiting Sakura, there's some stuff Ma wants to go over with you" Kiba said, when she walked through the gates of his clan compound.
Not that Sakura was surprised any as she merely nodded and followed him back to the house "Stray you don't know how proud of you I am for coming this far, for now we have business to attend to don't we, you've come for the marks I assume" Tsume smirked.
Really proud of the girl, Sakura had surpassed all her expectations for the Nekozuka Heiress "Yes I have Mrs. Inuzuka, is there anything else I should mention" Sakura nodded with a slight frown because the way Tsume put it there were other things to talk about.
Case and point when the woman winced "More shinobi are going to take notice your no mere civilian brat Stray, they'll see your marks and jewel and know that you're a Nekozuka, the last one and try to take advantage now that your technically an adult" Tsume growled.
Leading the brat outdoors so that she could put the fingertip markings on the girls fingertips "Are you meaning to say Ma that they'd try to do nasty stuff to Sakura…not on my watch me, Akamaru and Boei will rip their throats out if they try and Hinata will Jyuken their asses" Kiba snarled.
Hana bit her lip harshly to stop the snort from escaping her mouth at Kiba's crude statement as special ink combined with Sakura's chakra was made before Tsume painted oval marks on the rosette's fingertips.
"Not just that, the Council might approach you and try to convince you to give up the shinobi lifestyle, they take protecting clans to the extreme, the one you have to watch for the most is Danzo really" Tsume warned.
Because she wasn't about to send the Stray off without arming her with all the knowledge needed to defend herself "Like that'll even happen, I worked hard and no old guys on the council are gonna stop me from being a ninja" Sakura huffed.
Keeping absolutely still until Tsume was finished and the marks were now a permanent part of her everyday life "Cool, though what are they meant for" Kiba commented, admitting to being confused about the oval marks.
"To make my sense of feel more heightened, plus I'll be able to focus chakra in my fingertips better" Sakura explained testing said sensitivity by channeling chakra into her fingers and was nearly overloaded by the sensation "Guess I'll have to practice" she frowned.
A bit disoriented from what just happened "You do that Stray and if anyone comes for you, you and your family have sanctuary here" Tsume informed, shooing the brats off to do whatever they wanted for the rest of the day, which meant joining up with Hinata and Naruto to hang out.
And then it was back to the academy the next day "Congratulations all of you for becoming genin, but I'd like you to remember your journey as shinobi have just begun" Iruka launched into a prepared speech when his former students were sat before him for the last time.
While thanking Mizuki as he was handed the list of teams "Alright I will now assign you to your three-man squad under a Jonin instructor, Team 10, Shikamaru Nara, Ino Yamanaka, Choji Akimichi that is all" the Chunin read off.
Ignoring the groans and complaints from Ino as she grumbled about being on Choji and Shikamaru's team while wanting to be on Sasuke's team "Team 7, Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha and Sak….Shino Aburame" Iruka listed.
Nearly making a mistake and calling Sakura's name until he remembered that the teams had been rearranged "And Team 4, Hinata Hyuga, Kiba Inuzuka, and Sakura Haruno that is all, your sensei will meet you within the hour" Iruka finished.
Snapping his notebook shut and hastily escaping from the classroom to avoid questions just as Naruto jumped up trying to shout something after him "Hey Iruka-sensei get back here, you were about to say Sakura-chan's name on my team so why'd you change it" Naruto yelled.
Practically bursting everyone's eardrums "I can't tell you Naruto" Iruka called back still making a speedy retreat from the academy to enjoy lunch as Naruto slumped down in his seat between his two teammates one who extremely arrogant and the other silent and somewhat anti-social.
Meanwhile Kiba, Sakura and Hinata were eyeing each other up "We're on a team….I didn't think it would be that simple, based on our stats I should have been put on Team 7, while Shino would be a better fit for you two" Sakura frowned.
Just as confused as Naruto it seemed "Does it matter Sakura, I mean it's always been your dream anyway to be on a team with Hinata so roll with it, we can figure things out later after we meet our…no way this can't be for real" Kiba trailed off.
Noticing who just walked into their classroom, lavender and emerald orbs shifted to spy a familiar person "A..Are you our sensei Shiranui-san" Hinata asked hesitantly, still reeling from being on a team with her friends.
But now Genma was their sensei like what, how did this even happen "Yep so my little minions it's time to get a move on to our designated field, we won't do introductions since we already know each other and I want you on that field tomorrow at exactly 6 sharp" Genma smirked.
"Got it Genma-sensei" Sakura saluted, memorizing the path they were taking for future reference, Boei even had his nose in the air, mouth open as he tracked their scents to training grounds, and not one to be outdone Akamaru was doing the same.
Eight minutes later they were on the field taking it in with wide eyes "Alright see you tomorrow and I suggest you three come extremely prepared, the day will be hard on you" Genma warned, trying not to laugh at their adorable wary expressions.
Before vanishing in a poof of smoke right in front of their very eyes "He's going to kill us or at the very least we're going to be close to dying tomorrow is all I can come up with" Kiba declared in an overly dramatic tone.
Sakura rolled her eyes "Psshh don't exaggerate Kiba, Genma-sensei won't hurt us…to badly I hope, he will be tough on us though" Sakura chided lightly, deciding to take the initiative and explore the field they would be training on.
"Y..You know sh..she's right Kiba-kun" Hinata nodded, like usual agreeing to whatever Sakura said because she had known the pinkette longer and really Sakura was the best friend that she could have ever asked for.
Kiba's shoulders drooped for a moment "Fine okay, still if we have to prepare what exactly are we suppose to get with no money, we haven't even done missions yet" Kiba whined like a puppy, something that usually happened when he didn't understand.
He had never been the type to think first act later, it was act first and well that was about it really "Hmm if I had to guess, maybe sensei meant like bringing our own lunches or dinner or something to that effect, he did say day which means we'll probably be out all day" Sakura hummed.
Pondering Genma's words to figure out any ulterior motives within them and Genma who was still nearby to eavesdrop on their conversation silently applauded Sakura for managing to figure out that much.
"Th..Then please al..allow me to cook l..lunch and supper for us I pr..promise I'm really good at cooking" Hinata requested with a bow, a little nervous about sharing home-cooked food with her teammates for the first time.
Kiba and Sakura shared a smile before placing a reassuring hand on Hinata's shoulders to make her straighten up "Just no bowing we believe you Hinata-chan, right then guess that's that and I'll see you two tomorrow unless either of you want to get in some training now" Sakura smiled.
Peering between the two "W..Well Father did say there was something I s..still needed to work on, could you b..both throw some weapons at me" Hinata asked, trying not to bow this time but it was hard, a habit to work on breaking perhaps.
"Okay we can do that as long as you promise to help me with Akamaru, he needs a moving target for his dynamic marking" Kiba suggested, knowing that neither of his teammates would accept, imagine his surprise when Sakura offered to be Akamaru's target.
While throwing in her own request of throwing practice, she wasn't so good with moving targets either but she did promise that her weapons were blunted and so that's what the members of Team 4 did for the rest of the morning and part of the afternoon.
Sweat dripped from their faces, they no doubt smelled horrid but they were satisfied with their practice for the day as they headed home, Kiba being nice enough to walk his female teammates home first before returning to his own home afterwards.
Needless to say when Sakura stepped through the door and entered the living room her mother crinkled her nose up and even put a hand over her nose "Sakura what on earth why do you smell of dog pee and sweat" Mebuki gagged.
Just glad that neither Kizashi or Naruto were there to smell that smell "Training with Kiba and Hinata, we helped each other on some things unfortunately one of them was being a moving target for Akamaru-kun as he practiced using dynamic marking" Sakura grinned sheepishly.
Having hoped no one was home to avoid this mess "Right...go on, have a bath and then you can tell me about the rest of your morning, what your sensei was like and all that and who your teammates are" Mebuki waved her hand.
Dismissing her daughter from the living room so she didn't have to smell that stench anymore, Sakura sped up the stairs taking with her that awful smell and moments after she heard the shower running to her relief.
Fifteen minutes later Sakura was back to find her Father and Naruto had returned to the house as well "Blossom, Naruto was just telling us that Iruka-kun almost said your name on his team but instead someone else was put on it, any thoughts" Kizashi greeted.
Making the rosette eye her honorary little brother and he was sulking "True I should have been on Naruto's team, teams are arranged on scores and stats from the academy, other than that I'm just as confused about being on Hinata and Kiba's team, where Shino should be" Sakura shrugged.
Unable to make heads or tails of the strangeness that was going on "If you'd be a better fit for my team then you should be on it, maybe we could go talk to the old man see if we can get things straightened out" Naruto pouted.
Perking a little as he thought of a plan before popping up from the couch and trying to drag Sakura out the door with him to the Hokage Tower "Wait a minute Naruto as much as a love you, being on a team with Hinata is my dream I don't want to give that up I'm sorry" Sakura said.
Locking herself in place with chakra and not budging an inch no matter how hard Naruto tugged "But, but that's not fair I wanna be on a team with you to Sakura-chan not that jerk and the weirdo who likes bugs" Naruto whined loudly.
"Naruto-kun that's enough even if you went to Hokage-sama there is no chance he'd change things the teams, things don't work that way in the world, and you should try to learn how to get along with your teammates, also you still haven't told us who your sensei is" Mebuki scolded.
Remembering the unanswered question "Genma-sensei, I'll probably be gone all day tomorrow for whatever training he's devised…Hinata-chan is cooking so no need to worry about it Mom" Sakura informed.
Shocking the heck out of her parents and Naruto "And of course you get a cool sensei to, man this day sucks" Naruto sulked even more than before as he released Sakura's hand and trudged up the stairs to pout in his room.
Occupants of the living room watching him go with looks of sympathy, hours later after dinner in which Naruto had locked himself back up in his bedroom, Sakura knocked on his door "Can I come in" Sakura asked.
A click sounded and the door swung open to reveal baby blue eyes filled with tears "I already know you don't have to say it Sakura-chan I'm being a big brat" Naruto sighed when her arms wrapped around him and he couldn't help but bury his face in her neck.
"No your being you Naruto, a kid, despite us being technically considered adults now, we are still kids and temper tantrums are normal….just promise me you'll try to get along with at least Shino, he's actually decent and try with Sasuke, I know he's a jerk but you are teammates" Sakura said.
Pulling back and releasing him from her hug "Ugh you are very hard to say no to…fine I'll do what I can but I make no promises that it'll be smooth sailing" Naruto pouted, thankfully the tears were gone as they spent a little more time chatting.
Until it was time to go to sleep and at exactly 6 sharp Sakura, Kiba and Hinata were on their field "Uh where's Genma-sensei" Kiba frowned, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes as the three of them looked around for their sensei.
Because he had never pegged the guy as being the type to be purposefully late for anything "Could be th..that's he's a little behind schedule" Hinata supplied as she passed out onigiri that she'd made early that morning to fill their stomachs.
Just then an oddly placed leaf floated down in front of them, somewhat wary of that leaf Boei circled around it mouth open as he took in the scent "That's his scent, there could be some sort of message on it" Boei announced.
Recognizing Genma's scent as the leaf was quickly snatched up by Sakura "Find me before sun down it says….this one says don't get caught more than five times and the last one failure to do so will result in remedial training" Sakura read off.
As a couple more leaves appeared with messages on them "Wonderful, seriously how the heck are we going to find him in this big village, he could be anywhere" Kiba groaned, not using his head as the two kunoichi shared looks.
"Easy Kiba, we use our skills to track him, Boei at attention, do you still have Sensei's scent, good follow it, Hinata use your byakugan, I'll keep an ear out for his voice, Kiba help with scent tracking" Sakura grinned a wide toothy smile.
Chartreuse orbs glittering with excitement at the challenge the three of them had been presented while quickly taking charge "R..Roger that S..Sakura-chan" Hinata nodded, focusing chakra into her eyes activating her dojutsu.
Boei let out a growl as he sifted through scents that were days, hours and minutes old "He went this way" the seven year old lynx declared, leaping onto a nearby roof, prompting the others to follow him as they began their search for Genma.
Who was lounging quite comfortably in his chosen hiding place right smack dab on Kakashi's chosen training grounds as a clone of his followed his little minions "Damn that was entirely to close for comfort" Kiba growled two hours later.
Having practically tackled his teammates down to avoid being spotted and pressing them close to the wall heart pounding in his chest "Yeah I agree, as we get to more populated area's, keeping out of sight will be a lot harder" Sakura grimaced.
Listening with her ears perked, trying to discern if they were in the clear "W..We should go now, no ones watching" Hinata suggested, scaling the house and jumping from rooftop to rooftop, a lot more observant of their surroundings.
By noon the trio ensconced themselves in an alley to have a quick lunch before resuming the search for Genma "If I'm not wrong his scent is leading us in that direction now" Boei informed once he'd picked up on Genma's scent again.
The genin of Team 4 eyeing their surroundings warily "Jerk move swerving at the last minute straight through the middle of a crowded street to" Kiba growled, cursing his sensei out because he'd made this a lot more difficult.
Sakura thinned her lips "Well we could always cause a disturbance or aha what about this, this will block their view of us and we won't be going against Genma-sensei's orders to avoid getting caught" Sakura asked.
Rifling through her pouch and revealing a couple of smoke bombs "C..Could work I do..don't see any other shinobi a..around" Hinata mused, it took a few minutes of calculating out the best spot to execute their plan though.
Before a huge explosion of smoke filled the street, the trio along with Boei dashed hurriedly across the street knowing they only had a few precious minutes until the smoke dissipated and by the time it did they were safe on the other side.
Continuing their trek throughout the village before finally arriving around 4 in the afternoon near the training grounds of the memorial stone and smack in the middle of field were Team 7 along with their sensei "Oh crap we need to hide now, suppress your chakra and scent" Sakura ordered.
Ducking low behind a wall doing just that prompting Kiba and Hinata to do the same "W..What's wrong S..Sakura-chan" Hinata whispered in confusion not seeing what had caused her friend to panic so suddenly like that.
"It's him isn't Kakashi Hatake, of course you'd known about his sharingan and keen nose" Kiba snorted, taking a quick peek to confirm his suspicions and there Kakashi was talking to Naruto, Shino and Sasuke about something.
He didn't care to find out really since their mission to find Genma was more important "S..Should we wait a bit, see if th..they'll leave" Hinata inquired, attempting to stay still and not fidget so they didn't give their position away.
Sakura bit her lip considering their limited options "Boei where does Genma-sensei's scent lead is it straight through the middle of the field….then we go around from that point there" Sakura pointed out gesturing to a small opening in the forest.
Quite the distance away from the field but it was their only choice at this point "This day has been a total nightmare I had no idea there were so many things to consider in being a tracking based team" Kiba groaned quietly.
Because he didn't want them to get caught even once as they carefully made their way to the forest and took to the tree's Boei leading them around to where he smelled Genma "Well only took you hmm ten and a half hours" Genma remarked cracking open an eye.
When his little minions dropped down in front of him from the tree's "Yes well it's not like you made it easy on us Genma-sensei, you purposefully walked around nearly the entirety of the village and went through crowded areas to make it harder to track you" Sakura huffed.
Flipping her braid over her shoulder as she did so, despite her complaining, her eyes were bright with triumph writ across her face "Miss smartypants of course you'd figure that part out" Genma snorted, standing and brushing his pants free of debris.
Sakura beamed at him in response "What surprises me is the fact that Boei is one hell of a tracker, he didn't lose track of your scent even once, Akamaru and I did" Kiba grumbled, realizing he had a long way to go before he was up to snuff.
"D..Don't feel to bad K..Kiba-kun y..your mom took Sakura-chan ou..out of the village once for a few days and that's one of the things th..they worked on wh..while gone" Hinata soothed, patting her friend on the shoulder.
Genma listening with an amused look on his face before clearing his throat, each of his little minions straightened up and looked at him with their full attention "Alright, since you did well and actually passed the test I devised congrats you pass we're an official team yay" Genma cheered.
Earning himself some weirded out looks after a moment he continued "Rules, I expect obedience, no arguing, complaining or whining that means you Kiba, I require you three to listen to everything I say eagerly…eagerly I say" Genma announced.
Peering intently at the genin who nodded their heads eagerly for him "Secondly all missions we undertake will be done in a timely and orderly manner, no mouthing off or screwing around, your ninja now kids act like it instead of pre-teen brats" he continued.
"Thirdly when seen by another team I expect you three to be perfect, well behaved little angels, if its just us by ourselves act like normal I don't want anyone else knowing what your capable of and fourth, training, expect to be worked hard from now on is that clear" Genma said.
Again getting eager nods from his minions "Then we'll get along great now run along and tomorrow meet me at the tower at 7 sharp for our first mission" the brunet ordered, dismissing his genin who hurriedly disappeared on him.
Already obeying his orders to a tee, Konoha had no idea what kind of horror they'd unleashed upon themselves with the making of Team 4 "Oh well it was Tsume's idea anyway" Genma shrugged shunshining to the tower to let the Hokage know his team had passed before going home.
Where he showed up early the next day at the tower and leaned against the railing to wait for the remaining half hours until his minions arrived "Morning Genma-sensei" Sakura waved with a bright smile as she bounded up to him first.
Fifteen minutes early to his pleasure, next was Hinata five minutes later "A..ah Sakura-chan, Genma-sensei g..good morning" Hinata greeted, joining her teammate in front of their sensei while waiting for the final member of their squad.
It was another five minutes before he could be seen trudging towards them, hair sticking out in every which direction there was looking like he'd literally just woken up or pushed out of bed, Tsume was that kind of person "Morning" Kiba said.
Straightening up a little when Genma arched a mahogany brow at him "Not bad I like punctuality for that you get a fifteen minute break during training at a time of your choosing, for now missions, we'll start with one a D rank and what did I say about whining Kiba" Genma declared.
As he caught sight of Kiba opening his mouth to do just that probably before it was snapped shut with an audible clack of teeth "Here for their first mission are you Genma-kun" Hiruzen chuckled once the man had stepped into his office with his genin on his heels.
All of them ramrod straight as they patiently waited while the older shinobi conversed and tried to choose the perfect D rank for them to do "What about this one, Fugaku-kun doesn't normally request outside help but apparently there is a problem at the lake with littering" the Hokage said.
Pulling said mission out of the pile of countless other D rank missions "Excellent they'll take it Sandaime-sama" Genma nodded, deciding that it was a nice choice for their first mission, and soon they were on their way to the lake training grounds in the Uchiha Compound.
"Looky here if it isn't Sakura-chan what brings you to my neck of the woods basically" Shisui grinned, spying the baby shinobi trooping through his clans compound and recognizing the one with pink hair.
Chartreuse orbs focused on him in an eerie sort of way "D rank mission Shisui-san" Sakura answered calmly, though she was kind of excited, she was keeping the rules imposed on them in mind so Genma would have no reason to be harsh with them.
Shisui huffed "What happened to your energy Sakura-chan, I know you can't be content doing something like this, cleaning up trash is not your cup of tea I should know, you need to be moving around a lot more than this" the Uchiha remarked.
Wondering what was going on with the pinkette, Kiba grit his teeth trying his best to ignore the annoying Uchiha "Just trying to get our mission done in a timely and orderly manner U..Uchiha-san" Hinata said.
Poor Shisui looked positively befuddled while Genma was having a grand ole laugh over the Uchiha's expression "Listen Shisui, I gave my kids some rules to follow while we're doing missions and such, later we'll be training and they'll be moving around plenty" Genma said.
"For now though I'd rather them focusing on their mission" Genma finished, keeping an eye out, he didn't want to invite trouble especially here in the Uchiha Compound and they were already getting looks of disdain from the uppity aristocratic shinobi.
Thankfully one of the few friendly Uchiha in existence understood perfectly what he meant and stood off to the side allowing the genin to finish up the task set upon them and they did a beautiful job of cleaning up the lake, it practically sparkled once they were done.
And imagine Shisui's surprise when each genin shared a satisfied smile with one another at their accomplishment "Perhaps there is merit in requesting the help of genin after all, you three have done an excellent job of restoring this lake to its proper state" Fugaku commented.
Literally seeming to appear out of nowhere, causing Shisui and a couple of the genin to jump though they hid their reactions of being startled better than Shisui "It was nothing just doing our duty Uchiha-sama" Sakura smiled sweetly, modest as modest could be.
"Yeah, a mission's a mission no matter the rank all of them are important" Kiba bobbed his head eagerly, the picture of obedience, despite the horror stories all of the clan heads had heard about the Inuzuka heir.
Fugaku aimed a particularly calculative look at Genma who leaned against a post with a shit-eating smirk on his face, one day in and the three genin were already perfectly well-behaved for the man and he wondered what Genma had done to ensure such obedience.
It was unfortunately a question he'd have to consider as he sent Team 4 on it's way "Come on kids, we're training now, then we'll break for lunch and return for another two hours of training" Genma corralled his genin to their team training grounds.
Once there the shyest of the lot stepped forward "S..So Genma-sensei what will you have us doing during our training" Hinata inquired, stuttering a little but that was normal, though not as bad as her stuttering had once been a long time ago before she'd become friends with Sakura.
With a nod Genma gestured for them to sit as he lowered himself to the ground "Good question Hinata and I want you three to listen to me as I worked fairly hard on this schedule over the past couple of weeks, first off, you'll each be volunteering hours at the hospital" Genma said.
Reaching into his pouch and pulling out a thick stack of papers indicating he'd put great thought into how he was going to train them "Should any of you get hurt, I want you to be able to know how to dress wounds or set broken bones out in the field, four hours per day" he continued.
Slightly leaning forward until each of them looked him in the eye and nodded their little heads in complete understanding "And should any of you have an aptitude for medical ninjutsu go for it, its good to have a medic or three on a team, who know what their doing" Genma informed.
Hoping at least one of them did, he was betting on Sakura, though Hinata wasn't out of the running either, the two kunoichi's chakra control was exceptional "Next, I'll only make you three undertake ten D rank missions, which will qualify you for the Chunin Exams" Genma announced.
The decision to enter them however was still something he was considering but he wasn't going to tell the minions that "The rest will be C ranks and I will be taking you out of the village to get you use to outside the village, we'll go far kids, so no whining about missing home" he warned.
Wanting to get them comfortable with leaving the village for long periods of time "As for your training schedule, we'll start with the standard in the morning, taijutsu, ninjutsu, shuriken-jutsu, kenjutsu and genjutsu, I want you three to be well-rounded shinobi" Genma confessed.
Specializing in something was well and truly good and all but sometimes you couldn't rely entirely on your specialization, hence the reason he wanted them to know other ways of defending and protecting themselves.
"Lastly in the afternoons we'll work on your clan specialties, improve them and perhaps even help you develop your own techniques to use that are uniquely your own, also Akamaru, Boei, you'll be trained to fight independently of your partners as well, any questions" Genma finished.
Each of them shook their heads "No Genma-sensei, we understand perfectly so should we get started on laps or did you want us to spar against one another straight away" Kiba piped in, deciding not to argue over the training schedule that had been devised for them.
More than pleased, he sent them off with a wave to complete the standard practice however which way they wanted by stretching first before taking off around the field, while he got nice and comfortable in the shade of a tree.
What was even better to the unobservant eye it looked like he was uncaring of the genin training, inwardly however that couldn't be further from the truth as he noted down some things on the schedule about each of his students so he would be able to help them improve.
Not far from where he was actually was Kurenai Yuhi who was still seething over having the position of genin instructor snatched right out of her hands by her former classmate and fellow Jonin, all thanks to Tsume Inuzuka.
It enraged her because Genma wasn't even attempting to take his position as their teacher seriously he wasn't instructing them or anything and that really irked her and definitely proved why she should have been the one to teach the former Team 8 now Team 4.
Eventually after watching jealously for the past hour, the genin slowed, looking winded but sporting smiles as they practiced other things before heading towards Genma around noon as he whistled for them to gather round.
Surprisingly or not so surprisingly Hinata whipped out a picnic basket, while Kiba and Sakura spread out a blanket, settling down to have lunch on it as a plethora of food was pulled from the basket and passed around even to Genma.
After enjoying a glorious lunch in which Kurenai decided to finally leave and stop watching them Genma stood up brushing his clothes free of debris just as Kiba let out a loud belch "Ki..Kiba-kun that was rude" Hinata scolded.
Trying not to giggle over his immediately embarrassed grin "Excuse me" Kiba offered apologetically in a sheepish tone and that did it, Sakura and Hinata shared a giggle with one another, behaving normally for the first time that day like the preteens they were.
Genma stifled a chuckle under his breath "What first Genma-sensei" Sakura turned to him after a minute of giggling, chartreuse eyes bright and filled with excitement, prompting the other two to turn to him as well, awaiting his instructions eagerly.
"Boei, Akamaru step forward, there will come a day your partner might be incapacitated and unable to fight with you, that is why its imperative you learn how to operate on your own to take down opponents" Genma cleared his throat.
First giving the ninken and lynx his undivided attention "Both together and apart, I'm sending this clone into the forest to hide from you, your task is to find it and take it down, I don't expect this to happen right away but you'll keep doing this until your able to complete the task" Genma said.
The two companions thankfully understood and were gone on the heels of the Genma clone before the real Genma turned to his students "As for you three, Hinata you'll work on your jyuken, Sakura practice with your clan jutsu and same for you Kiba let me see what you can do" Genma requested.
Standing back slightly and throwing out instructions as his genin got started on their clan specialties "Okay I think that's enough Sakura, Kiba, Hinata, we're done here for the day and don't forget to go sign up to volunteer your time at the hospital" Genma whistled.
Around 3 in the afternoon, having plenty to work with now that he'd seen the kids in action again, there were several different methods he could use to help his genin improve upon their skills and be the best tracker team in all the nations at the same time.
Just then Boei and Akamaru barreled out of the forest on the heels of the clone they'd been chasing for the past three hours and hurriedly vanished after their partners, Genma chuckled and headed home himself to update his training schedule before going to bed for the night, like his genin had.
