Third person view
DJ slept soundly on his bed inside the home of Green Arrow and Black Canary. He was currently stomach up with his face under the pillow as it was the only way he could sleep last night as he had a nightmare/memory about a man from Cadmus with a whip. Canary opened the door in her civilian clothes.
"DJ" she said only to receive snoring as a response. She sighed before reaching inside and picking up the backpack she and Ollie had gotten him for his first day at school with M'gann and Superboy.
She threw it at him not wanting to enter the room and shake him awake again. The backpack struck his stomach and immediately both hands came up and the pack was impaled by all six claws. Canary even seen his new foot claw pop out through the blanket.
After looking back over his original x-rays they took after the fire in Gothem and taking new ones, they seen that on the original ones were small nubs in his foot. And now in his new ones, each foot now had a single claw instead of a nub.
So the League made the assumption that he grew the claws out of bone first and then the bots covered them with Adamantium and then formed them into claws.
"You know, I'm told there are other ways to wake a person" DJ grumbled. Black Canary just smiled.
"You slept through your alarm and I have to get to work. Get up, shower, get some breakfast and then get to Happy Harbour" she commanded before closing the door. DJ threw the now ruined backpack off his stomach before he shifted back into a comfortable position.
However soon after another object struck his stomach again but this time, he didn't impale it being awake. He lifted the pillow to see another backpack had struck his stomach.
He looked at the doorway and seen Canary standing there with a smirk on her face.
"Now" she said before leaving again, this time leaving the door open. DJ groaned before getting up and grabbing a towel from the floor.
"Recognized Razor B-06" the Zeta said as DJ exited the machine in his civilian clothes.
After talking with M'gann and Superboy yesterday some more DJ discovered that normal people wear clothing with superhero symbols on them. Which is probably why Canary bought him the shirt she did.
He was wearing a leather jacket, hoping that this one would survive, blue jeans and a black shirt with three long ragged claw marks running across it.
He met up with M'gann and Superboy who were dressed in a pink shirt with a matching skirt while Superboy was just dressed his normal clothing although his shirt was still inside out.
"I thought you were okay to wear the S" DJ questioned pointing at the boy of Steel. Superboy shrugged.
"Meh, I figured since it's all I normally wear when super-ing. That I'd just keep turning it inside out" he said before pointing at DJ's shirt before smirking.
"Nice shirt" he said. DJ smiled and nodded.
"Thanks" he said before M'gann handed him a brown paper bag.
"I uh, I didn't know if you made your lunch but I figured I'd at least make you up one" M'gann said embarrassed. DJ just looked down at it before smiling.
"I uh, I didn't make one" he said. M'gann smiled even more now knowing that she didn't waste food for no reason.
"Alright so um, what were your fake names again?" DJ asked as the three began walking towards the ramp that led outside.
"Mine is Megan Morse and his is Connor Kent" Megan said smiling as her skin turned Caucasian.
"Kent?" DJ questioned Connor who simply shrugged.
"In memory of Kent Nelson" M'gann said smiling. DJ's face scrunched up in confusion.
"Wait wouldn't his name be Connor Nelson then?" DJ asked.
"Thank you!" Superboy said as the three exited the mountain.
The three superhero teens all arrived at Happy Harbour high school and immediately M'gann was greeted by a bunch of cheerleaders. The began talking when they noticed me and Connor standing by them.
"Hey Meg- Oh hello~ Damn Megan, who's this ray of dirty blonde sunshine and why do the hot ones always come to school with you?" one of the cheerleaders said eyeing DJ up and down.
Somewhere in Europe
Jade Nguyen sat at the table in one of the Shadow's many safe houses. She had her normal attire on with the exception of her mask, which was on the table in front of her.
Currently she was sharpening her Sais as all of her other weapons that needed sharpening were on the table next to her mask.
Suddenly she stopped mid stroke, freezing like she had been hit with a freeze ray. She looked side to side quickly just to make sure surely alone and it wasn't a Shadows test.
Something felt off, very off. She didn't know why but the next time she was in America she had a strange urge to kill every teenage female in the state of Rhode Island.
She just shrugged it off before continuing to get ready for her contract tonight.
M'gann smiled before she gestured to DJ.
"Guys this is DJ, remember the one who I told you was... sick yesterday" M'gann said as many of them just nodded while they continued eyeing him up.
One of them finally snapped out of the daze they were in and extended their hand.
"Hi I'm Wendy Harris" she said as DJ smiled and shook her hand.
"Megan told us that you were home schooled like Connor was" she said. DJ nodded while shooting a look at M'gann.
'Sorry I didn't know how else to sell your... Personally' M'gann thought.
Suddenly the bell rung signaling to everyone that first period was beginning in ten minutes.
DJ had math and science for the first half of the day. Then after lunch he had English and gym the last half of the day. All classes he had, he was with M'gann and Connor thanks to Batman.
"Alright, time to go" Wendy said leading the group of cheerleaders in. The group of young heroes following them. As they walked DJ could tell that this was going to be an interested day.
Lunch time came fast for the three heroes. Well especially for DJ and Connor, since they already knew everything the teacher threw at them.
The math teacher was quite flustered when he caught DJ staring out the window and asked him to solve a math question on the board. To which DJ did without missing a heartbeat.
Now they had their lunches from their lockers on trays along with any they got from the cafeteria. They were walking around looking for a place to eat.
M'gann finally seen Wendy waving them over as she sat with the other cheerleaders and a few more of their friends. M'gann smiled and led the two boys over to the table.
"Marvin this is DJ, remember the one who Megan told us was sick yesterday" Wendy said gesturing to the boy that sat beside her.
He wore a brown jacket with blue jeans and had brown hair and brown eyes.
"What's up man?" he asked extending his hand to DJ who shook it and nodded. They ate in silence until Marvin spoke up.
"So where are you from?" Marvin asked as DJ looked up.
"Uh my parents and me move around a lot, but most recently Gothem and Star City" DJ answered as Marvin lit up.
"Razor" Marvin said as the three heroes slightly flinched in fear that one of their identities had been found out.
"Uh, what?" DJ asked. He immediately thought that this guy was at the fire in Gothem and had seen him since that was the only time he was without his mask.
"The shirt, it's Razor right? I got the same one at home" Marvin said as they all sighed.
"Oh yeah, my mom got it for me when we were living in Gothem. We were in the city when he was saving the people in the fire" DJ answered.
"Yeah, dude was pretty badass climbing up on a burning building to save a bunch of kids. Did you ever see him in person?" Marvin said as DJ shrugged.
"Other than TV, I seen him once at a distance dealing with a few muggers in Star City with Green Arrow" DJ said. It technically wasn't a lie, right?
"So cool. Can you imagine having claws that can cut through anything?" he asked putting a plastic knife and fork in his knuckles.
DJ gave a little scoff but was able to pass it off as a cough.
'You wouldn't like it, if you had to go through the process of it' DJ thought as he ate a sandwich that M'gann had made for him. While he didn't remember the process of getting his claws, every time he thinks about it, all of his bones ache. M'gann and Connor looked at each other but stayed silent about it. It was obvious that he had forgotten about the mental link.
So they just continued to eat and listen to the others talk amongst themselves while DJ just nodded and chimed in whenever it involves him.
"Alright class, today we're going to play dodge ball" the teacher said as he placed several red balls on a line in the middle of the gym
"Now ones go over there twos over there" he said pointing to the ends of the gym. He then started going down the line and saying one, two, one, two.
Once he was done DJ and Connor were on the same team while M'gann was on the other one. The teams were currently at the ends of the gym with one hand touching the wall.
'Okay so, how do we play this' DJ asked only to receive no idea as a response from the other two. Cadmus taught him a lot about fighting and combat, but they skimmed on the school sports.
'Maybe we stay back and watch how it's done?' M'gann suggested. The coach blew the whistle and immediately everyone ran for the balls.
DJ not one trained to stay behind ran along with them. He didn't go directly to the front, even though he could, so he could see what they were doing.
The student in front of the crowd on his side ran and grabbed a ball before he quickly back-stepped. DJ quickly copied this motion grabbing a ball and getting back when someone on the other side threw one at him.
DJ leaned to the side as the ball whizzed under his arm. Taking a guess he threw the ball, hitting the one who tried to hit him in the stomach.
Immediately the guy walked off and sat on a bench nearby. DJ also took note that none of the students would cross the line where the balls were in the middle.
'Got it, it's just like war. Grab a ball and throw it at the other team and don't get hit. Also don't cross the line in the middle' DJ thought as a ball soared towards Superboy.
Superboy did the same thing as DJ did leaning to the right using his hand to steady himself.
DJ threw a ball at the other side just as Connor did and they hit two people side to side. DJ then grabbed another one and threw it towards M'gann. However for his friend, he didn't throw it as hard as the other ones.
However just as the ball got within inches of the girl's face, it suddenly curved to the right missing her body completely.
DJ just thought he had thrown a curve into his throw until he seen M'gann's smile. He smiled back just as a ball came for him.
He quickly did a backflip as the ball went underneath him.
'Hey you two, remember to act normal' M'gann said as Connor and DJ mentally sighed before they both got hit with balls from the opposing team and went over to the bench.
'And so my team wins' M'gann said as ball that one of her teammates threw curved and hit several people.
'Cheater' Superboy thought as M'gann smiled and her team cheered.
After a few more games the bell rung and with that, the day was over and the three went back to the mountain.
"So DJ, how was school?" M'gann said smiling as the three entered the mountain. DJ shrugged as they walked down the ramp.
"Eh, kinda boring" DJ responded as Connor laughed.
"Yeah, welcome to my world" he said as suddenly Batman appeared from the Zeta-Tube with a bright light.
"Miss Martian, Superboy. I need you two for a mission" he said as the two heroes looked at each other with confused looks.
So you guys have probably noticed that the last chapter of some of the stories have been kinda short. Well I had just had my drive test which was my last chance to get it until I go back down to beginners level.But I passed it and now I'll be more focused on my stories.
