You don't have to be afraid
Sirius really enjoys being bossed around. Wolfstar with some Jamulus.
"Sirius, pick up your trousers," Remus complains, folding his arms across his chest. His tone is just as bossy as ever, and Sirius quickly does as he's told, slowly shifting from his reclined position on the sofa with a slight groan. He scoops up the trousers and raises an eyebrow. "Anything else, Moony?"
He knows that there are other things. He knows and he watches Remus, forcing the smile off his own face as he does.
"The bloody washing up," Remus finally snaps. "It's your turn, and I know that you know this. Why does this happen every single week? I never leave things overnight in the sink."
"I'll get right on it."
"You will," Remus mutters, glaring at him.
"Can I put my trousers away first?" Sirius checks, and the glare seems to intensify, and Sirius resists chuckling as he walks from the room in his favourite boxers. He's hoping Remus' gaze is on them as he goes, but resists glancing back.
He drops the trousers in his room, over a chair. He's usually pretty tidy. Well, average but Remus has only gotten bossier in the years that Sirius has known him, and it's… well, it's beautiful. Amazing really. Sexy as hell. Who'd have thought that Remus bossing him around would be so… what's the word? Oh yes, arousing.
He gives it a few minutes, moving around his room in order to tidy a bit, before he leaves. Remus is looking decidedly unimpressed and Sirius heads to the kitchen. He's not a fan of things being left in the sink either, truth be told. He makes quick work of the washing up.
"We need to do a bit of food shopping," Remus says, as he walks into the room. He opens the fridge and sighs. "I'm happy to go alone if you want to make a list of what you need?" He turns to Sirius and smiles, and Sirius knows what the smile and the offer means.
Remus is feeling bad about being bossy so this is his way of making it right.
"Gimme five minutes and I'll be ready to go," he replies instead. Remus is bossy at the supermarket too and Sirius isn't going to miss out on enjoying being bossed around.
"Sirius, can you grab some bananas," Remus says, glancing at the list. Sirius moves fast to obey what he asks, and Remus stares after him. Of course he's noticed how well Sirius listens to him, it's just baffling to him that Sirius works so quickly and eagerly.
Sirius used to be so tidy, and Remus can't work out why Sirius has changed since they've moved in together. He doesn't seem to get annoyed when Remus reminds him to help out, or when Remus asks him to pick up after himself, but Remus is getting a bit frustrated.
He hates it because he feels like he's just going on at Sirius over and over, and he's worried Sirius will finally snap and get annoyed. He's scared of that happening, because despite the fact that this all annoys him, he wouldn't trade living with Sirius for anything.
Sirius comes back over, a slight frown on his face.
"So, can I get your number then?" a man asks, walking at Sirius' side. Remus side-eyes this man, and tries to look like he's not bothered. He has no right to be bothered by another gorgeous man asking Sirius out or getting his number, though he wants to snap at the guy and tell him to go away. He remains silent, however.
"Sorry, not interested," Sirius says, reaching the trolley and putting the bananas in. "I've got a boyfriend." He walks around the trolley and slips an arm around Remus' waist and leans in, his lips brushing Remus' cheek in a way that has Remus' breath catching in his throat.
"Oh." The guy lingers still, and Remus realises that he can actually pretend like he has the right to send this guy away.
"I'm sorry, do you need something?" he says. "I think my boyfriend was pretty clear about not being interested, or don't you know how to take 'no' for an answer?"
The man quickly leaves, and Sirius laughs softly. His hand stays on Remus' waist for a little while after that, but Remus puts that down to the lie. Maybe Sirius just doesn't want to be bothered, so he's going to pretend to be with Remus for the rest of the supermarket trip.
Remus is fine with that.
"Sirius, grab a cloth," James snaps, as Harry knocks down a drink.
"Get it yourself," Sirius mutters. Who does James think he is, bossing Sirius around? It's very rude, actually. Not even a please.
"Sirius, I really need it," James says, as he pulls Harry away so the toddler doesn't put his hands in the wet. Harry fights against James' grip, determined to get his hands on the juice. He squirms urgently, and James gives Sirius a pleading look.
Sirius stands up and goes to get a cloth. He's doing this for poor Harry of course, not bloody bossy James who clearly sets out to do his head in.
He returns with the cloth and realises that James wants him to wipe the table too. He does this, hating the wet that seeps through, but he resists complaining or making a snarky comment.
"I don't get it," James says, as he pulls Harry's t-shirt off and uses the dry side to wipe Harry's hands. He hands it to Sirius and gets a clean t-shirt from the small pile of folded clothes on the armchair and puts the new t-shirt on Harry.
"Get what?" Sirius asks.
"You. Remus." James sighs. "He's always telling you what to do and you go ahead and do it, and with a bloody smile on your face. I ask one thing and you moan and bitch and make my life hell."
"Uh…" Sirius doesn't know what to say about that. He watches as James opens a drawing pad and sets it in front of Harry, along with some crayons. Harry starts to draw a wobbly scribble that will of course be his latest picture of Sirius.
"Do you want the black crayon?" James offers. "For Uncle Sirius' hair?"
"Midnight black," Sirius says, reaching for his prefered crayon. "My hair isn't ordinary black, it's midnight black."
James rolls his eyes, but takes the crayon and passes it to Harry.
"Is it because you fancy him?" James suddenly asks, so very bluntly that Sirius can't think of any sort of excuse. Clearly his face gives him away, because James' eyes widen and so does the smile on his face. "You do," he says, with a laugh. "I knew it. You fell over at the chance of sharing a flat with him after Hogwarts. He could tell you to do anything and you'd run to do it. So you fancy him and just accept that he's pretty bossy at times?"
"Yeah. That's exactly it," Sirius admits, hoping James doesn't pry.
"You're such a liar," James says, laughing softly. "No. There's more. What is it though?" He taps his chin thoughtfully, his eyes narrowing in thought, and Sirius just rolls his eyes. James has already figured out one secret of his, and he really doesn't want James to work out any more.
"I mean… you can't like him bossing you around, can you?" he mutters to himself, and Sirius forces himself not to react to the comment. But somehow James reads him like a book, and that serious face breaks out into a grin once more.
"I think this is the best day of my life," he says. Sirius pointedly looks towards the slightly sticky child ambling around the room, and James shrugs a little. "Well, top five," he corrects himself. "Don't tell Regulus I said that though."
"Perhaps I won't tell him," Sirius says, crossing his arms. "But only if you don't tell Remus about any of this."
"Who, me?" James looks too innocent to actually be innocent, and Sirius glares at him.
"Okay, maybe I do fancy him. Yeah, but don't tell anybody." He pauses. "Maybe I do like him being bossy. It's cute, don't you think?"
"No. I don't think it's cute - if I did, I'd be dating Remus and not your brother," James laughs. "But this here is cute. You pining over him like a bloody puppy. Hilarious."
This pisses Sirius off more than anything. James taking enjoyment out of Sirius' misery. This is why he's never told James how he feels about Remus.
"There's nothing hilarious about me being in love with someone for years, and them not even bloody noticing, or feeling anything of the sort," he snaps.
"Wait, Sirius, I didn't mean…"
"Yeah? Well, this is what I get for telling you the truth - and you wonder why I kept it to myself all these years. Now you can see why. No need to be so rude, Ptter. Actually, you know what? I gotta go, got things to do. I'll see you around." He storms past James and kneels down next to Harry. "See you around, kid," he says, giving the sticky little boy a hug. "I'll come see you soon, yeah?" He softens his voice, even though he's still feeling the anger. He doesn't want Harry to hear it in his voice though.
Harry smiles and nods his head, and Sirius glares at James once more before storming out. He resists slamming the door behind him because he doesn't want the noise to upset Harry. But he's sure James knows that the door would have otherwise been slammed.
He hears the door open behind him and James calls his name, but Sirius breaks out into a run. James can walk after him,but he can't run because he'll be carrying Harry. He doesn't want to talk to James anymore.
"Sirius isn't talking to me," James mutters. They're in a coffee-shop during both of their lunch breaks, and Remus has pushed James for the truth. Both James and Sirius are moping around. Though Sirius is actually tidying up after himself, he doesn't seem himself at all.
At first, Remus assumed he had been too bossy and that Sirius was upset with him but after a chat with Regulus on the phone (who confirmed James sticking his foot in his mouth one way or another, though he's not sure what was said), Remus knows he's not at fault. It's down to Sirius and James.
The pair have fallen out in the past, but they make up days later. The pair of them haven't spoken in over a week and Remus wants to put an end to this now. He's tired of their group being so divided. He's sent Peter to talk to Sirius and try to get the truth from him, whilst he deals with James himself.
Usually he'd talk to Sirius, but Sirius seems more reluctant to talk to him than ever before. Which hurts and just reaffirms Remus' doubts about himself and whether he's too bossy or has upset Sirius.
"I gathered that," Remus replies. He reaches for his hot-chocolate and takes a sip, closing his eyes and enjoying the taste before turning his gaze on James once more. "Why not."
"I… I can't say," James mutters, and Remus narrows his eyes. James would usually tell him, unless it was about his sex-life with Regulus (and they've dealt with that falling out before, between James and Sirius) or unless it was about Remus.
He feels a little sick all of a sudden. It can't be anything else. It's why Sirius isn't talking to him properly at home. It's why Sirius is avoiding him currently, because Remus has said or done something that has caused Sirius to be upset. After all, Sirius is usually always there in Remus' space because the man doesn't understand what personal space is (not that Remus is complaining of course). But it feels lonely with Sirius shut away in his room. The feeling starts to develop into anxiety and thoughts start racing through his head as he considers this, each one worse than the last.
"Is he mad at me?" Remus contemplates quietly. "What have I done?"
"No, not at all. He's not mad at you," James rushes to explain.
"Fed up with me? We… oh, does he think I'm a burden? Tell me!? Or is it because I'm always bossing him around."
"None of those. Like the opposite. He's not mad at you at all. Really."
Remus nods his head, but he knows James is just trying to save his feelings and he quietly vows to himself to confront Sirius and put an end to this. James was probably trying to defend him or something, which is James' way. Remus assumed that their living together was going quite well, despite Sirius having suddenly become messy, which wasn't the case at boarding school but is now the case. But perhaps that's the issue? Maybe Sirius doesn't like living with him? Maybe Remus will have to move out.
Oh. Or maybe Sirius has worked out that Remus is completely and utterly in love with him and doesn't feel the same and is avoiding Remus in order to protect Remus' feelings.
He reaches for his drink again, but it doesn't taste as nice as before. When he sets it down again, he doesn't pick it back up. It's critical that he fix this thing with Sirius before it gets worse. As much as he hates it, he'll have to do something that'll hurt himself in order to keep Sirius. But that's something he's willing to go through.
"I've decided to move out," Remus says, though his voice is shaking slightly, and it's Sirius' nightmare coming true. He can only stare at his beautiful best friend as Remus stares at him decisively. "I'm going to… I think I'll go back to Wales. I've only got to give a week at my job anyway since I've only been there for a bit, and… I'll give you extra rent to cover this place, because I know it isn't fair, me leaving you in the lurch—"
"Why?" Sirius demands quietly. "I don't want extra money, Remus, I want to know why."
Remus is quiet for a long time and Sirius tries not to lose his temper (not at Remus of course, but just… the idea of losing Remus fills him with a hopelessness that he doesn't otherwise know how to handle). "Remus?"
"Look, I was… I had coffee with James and me and him had a chat, and… he… I know you and him had an argument and I know it was about me, and… I'm leaving."
"James told you?" Sirius says, eyes is leaving because he knows about Sirius' stupid feelings and James is to blame and that's where his anger needs to go. "James is going to fucking…" he doesn't even know what James is going to have to deal with. He just stands up and storms to the door. "I'm going to kill him," he says to himself, as he grabs his helmet. This is devastating. If Remus goes to Wales, he can't see Remus' messy hair every morning, or listen to Remus' terrible singing in the shower, which is just adorable. He can't make Remus cups of tea (or get Remus to make him the best hot-chocolate he's ever tasted) or talk to Remus, or just feel at home and feel so complete in his friend's presence. Like he has everything he'll ever need.
This is wrong. This can't happen. He has to fix this somehow.
"Sirius?" Remus calls.
"I gotta go kill James," Sirius says. "I'll be back in a bit." He storms out of the door, ignoring Remus calling his name.
James has ruined everything. Sirius has lost Remus because of James' behaviour. How could his friend betray him like this?
He quickly gets on his bike and sets off, aware of Remus leaving their block of flats after him. He can't face Remus right now, he needs time to think. So what if he's running away from a situation - again.
Remus already knows that there is no stopping Sirius when he's in this mood, but something about the conversation doesn't make sense and Remus can't make head or tail of it, so he tries to call Sirius back, but to no avail.
He can't catch Sirius leaving the building, but he needs to get to James' house.
He rushes to the nearby shops and to the cab office. It's only a matter of minutes before he's in the cab there. Usually he wouldn't waste his money, but he doesn't want to do the fifteen minute walk and let the pair ruin their friendship whilst he's worrying about a few pounds.
There is thankfully already a car there and Remus rushes to get inside. When they pull up at the house, he can see Sirius' motorbike and they're furiously arguing at the door, before Sirius pushes his way inside.
Regulus is about to close the door, but their eyes meet as Remus gets out of the cab, paying with a £10 note and insisting the driver keep the change because he has no time to stop to get the change, and Regulus leaves the door open and heads back inside.
Remus rushes up the path, closing the door behind him.
"He's leaving, James. You couldn't just keep your mouth shut!" Sirius is furious, more so than Remus has ever seen in his life.
"Me?" James roars. "I did keep quiet. He thinks we argued over you. You're the one at the flat pining and avoiding him. You did this to yourself, Black. Don't blame me!"
"Any clue?" Regulus whispers, and Remus shakes his head.
"Something about me, but I'm not sure what. Should I call Peter? He's always been good at defusing these things."
"Nah. We'll find out soon enough," Regulus whispers back. "Peter won't be here in time."
Remus nods his head and they lurk in the doorway because Remus really wants to know what exactly is going on.
"You could have told him that it wasn't the case, Potter," Sirius snaps. "Some friend you are. You fucking call me out about him, don't even let me have my secrets, then you laugh about the fact that I feel this way and he doesn't. And then… then you go and turn him against me. Now he's leaving me. Is this what you want? Are you trying to steal him from me?"
"Steal him? Sirius, I'm dating your brother! I'm not trying to steal Remus away."
Regulus gives Remus a disbelieving look, and Remus returns it. They're both in silent agreement. Sirius is a moron.
"It's not my fault. You were too sensitive the other day…" James trails off. "I was rude, but you didn't give me time to apologise. I fucked up the other day, but I didn't tell Remus anything."
"You laughed at me," Sirius snaps. "You found out I have feelings for him and you laughed at the fact that I followed him around like a… what was it? A sad little puppy?"
"I said you're pining over him like a bloody puppy. I didn't say 'sad puppy'."
"Don't forget that you said 'hilarious' at the end of that," Sirius snaps.
"I'm fucking sorry," James shouts. "But how can I apologise if you ignore me for weeks on end so you can carry on your fucking drama and pining over Remus? You are the one causing this rift between the both of you. If he's leaving, it's something you did because I didn't tell him anything."
"He didn't know I had feelings for him until he met with you."
"I'm sorry, can you repeat that?" Remus asks, because he's sure he's mishearing things. "Sirius?"
Sirius spins around, horrified. Eyes wide, he watches Remus.
"Hey… hey, Moony, when did you get here?" James asks, casually. "You shouldn't sneak up on us like this."
"Moony, looking so nice today. I like that cardigan. It's very… green," Sirius adds. He shares a worried look with James, and Remus is annoyed now, because is it really that easy for them to side with each other?
"No. You don't get to act like you didn't say anything," he says, pointing at James. He gives James a warning look when James opens his mouth to argue. "And you," his finger moves to Sirius. "No bloody compliments. I want the truth, now."
He lowers his hand and James approaches, moving to Sirius' side. "You're right. The bossy thing is actually a bit hot," he whispers. "Think Regulus will boss me around more?"
Remus' hand comes to his face and he takes a deep breath. He turns to look at Regulus, who is looking even more unimpressed now.
"Let's speed this up, shall we?" Regulus says. "Sirius fancies you, he told James, James was an arsehole and Sirius started sulking. Remus, as much as I love you, chum, you do always assume the worst. You're a great person but you're all pains."
"Wait, even me?" Remus asks.
"Especially you," he answers. "My brother fancies the fuck out of you. You fancy him. Can we just… I have a headache. Go home and be lovey-dovey and get these frustrations out in the bedroom please."
"Wait. But… What was that about being bossy?" Remus asks, eyes wide, turning back to Sirius.
James snickers. "It gets Sirius hot."
And Sirius has the nerve to turn red as Remus processes this.
"I thought that you didn't want me there. I thought the bossy behaviour was… was annoying, and driving a wedge between us, or something."
"Remus, you've just found out how I feel about you. Maybe you can address that?" Sirius asks quietly. "You're killing me here."
"Oh. So you… you fancy me? For a while?"
"Few years. I mean, when I was fifteen, and… still now."
Remus can't help but smile. "I have you beat, I think. Fourteen. My first ever crush, Sirius. I mean… Regulus has a point. Maybe we should talk about this alone? Wanna go back to the flat and… and discuss… I mean, I haven't given notice at my job yet, so I can stay."
Sirius grins. "Fourteen? We're really a pair of idiots, aren't we?"
"Yeah. We really are," Remus murmurs softly. "Leave your bike here, you can collect it tomorrow."
Sirius' lip goes between his teeth at the bossy tone, and Remus smiles. "You like that?" He's a little nervous about all this turn of events, but he wants to get home. He wants to unpack the bag he started packing. He wants to define what they are, make sure they're on the same page.
Then he wants to get Sirius out of those clothes and not leave the flat for the entire week.
"Get out, do this outside," James says. "Sirius, are we good now?"
"Yeah, we're great. See you later James." And like that, it's all forgotten and Remus sighs softly. How is it so easy for them? One minute they're shouting, the next they are back to being best friends. Sirius gives James a grin, and James gives him a thumbs up.
"Good luck and don't fuck it up," James says, walking them to the door.
Sirius' hand brushes against his. Once. Twice. "Remus… can I…"
"We've admitted that we have feelings for each other, and I'm hoping this leads to… an us. If that's what you want too, you're welcome to treat me like… like we're together." Remus' cheeks redden.
Sirius takes Remus' hand in his own. "Fish and chips on the way home?" he suggests softly. "We can eat and talk, and after dinner…" They walk out of the door of James' house with a quick wave to the pair. Sirius' gaze moves to Remus' lips. "After dinner, we'll see where we go. If that's good with you."
"Usually I'd wait a while before moving forward in a relationship," Remus replies.
"I've waited years, I can wait longer," Sirius tells him, and the look on his face makes Remus realise just how oblivious he's been. Has Sirius always looked at him like that and he's never noticed?
"I was going to say that usually, that's how I'd do things. But this time… we've known each other for years. Once we've discussed this, I expect you in my bed, completely naked."
Sirius starts to walk faster, clearly eager to get back, and Remus picks up his own speed.
"I'd swim an ocean for you," Sirius offers.
"You don't even know how to swim," Remus points out, amused.
"For you, I'd learn," Sirius teases, as they briskly make their way to the chip shop, anticipation building between them.
They're both too nervous to make the first move, but Sirius knows that it needs to be him. Remus has lived with self-doubt and that stops him from having the confidence. He stands, and Remus straightens up, eyes wide. He's so beautiful. Sirius knows others don't always see it, but he's always seen how completely beautiful Remus is.
He moves over to Remus, a smirk on his lips because Remus already looks flustered, and Sirius leans on knee on the sofa. He moves slowly. Remus might freak out or panic, and Sirius wants to catch that moment so he can take a step back, but Remus' expression is filled with want. The excitement is clear on Remus' face, and Sirius feels it himself. Excited that this is finally happening. Excited that this is the start of their lives together.
Sirius lifts his other knee and settles his weight on Remus' lap. He leans forward and Remus' hands come to his hips, his fingers holding Sirius as though he's scared Sirius will leave. They've not discussed anything, both not sure where to start, or what to say first.
"I'm in love with you, you know," Sirius says, because it's suddenly so easy to say. "I want to be in a relationship with you. I want a future with you. I know we said we'd talk, but to me, it's really that simple. It's always been that simple and straight-forward. I'm hoping this is a forever sort of thing because I can't imagine a future with anyone else."
Remus smiles. "I like the sound of that. I love you. You… you promise?"
"Everything I said is true, I promise you that."
Sirius dips his head and finally finally his lips find Remus' lips and it puts his dreams of this moment to shame, because he's never even for a moment been able to imagine how perfect that would feel.
He pushes Remus back into the sofa and follows the movement, and Remus' fingers dance up his side, pushing his t-shirt and trailing over his revealed skin.
"Go to the bedroom," Remus murmurs, pulling away slightly.
Sirius stares at him, wondering if he even wants to move.
Remus' lips curve up. "Go to the bedroom, now," he orders in his most bossy tone, and Sirius almost falls off his lap in his haste to obey.
"Will you keep using that voice if I do?"
"Only if you tell me if I get too much," Remus replies.
"Moony, I don't think you could ever be too bossy," Sirius admits. "Go on, do it again."
Remus stands up slowly, and Sirius follows the movement. He's clearly contemplating what happens.
"In my room. Now." His lips wrap around the word please, but he doesn't voice it, and Sirius knows that it's going to be a lot of practice to get this right, which is fine by him. They have a lot to learn about each other.
Sirius does as he's told. He walks into the room and turns, waiting for the next instruction.
"That t-shirt needs to come off," Remus tells him, and Sirius gets his t-shirt off fast, dropping it to the floor.
"Really? You're just going to leave it there?" Remus asks. He's looking a little unsure, as though he's worried that this is spoiling it, but Sirius's breath catches on the words and he picks the t-shirt up urgently and waits for the next instruction.
Remus smiles, a little shyly, before nodding towards the chair. Sirius places the t-shirt down, eyes moving to Remus to make sure he's got it right.
"Good," Remus murmurs. "If you keep behaving, you might get a reward."
"Oh. Does that mean I'll get punished if I misbehave?" Sirius teases.
Remus laughs softly and Sirius' breathing is slightly erratic. He just wants to get Remus on the bed, he doesn't care who is on top, or what position, as long as it's with Remus. As long as it's always with Remus. He's all Remus'.
"I'm all yours," Sirius tells him. "Anything you want."
Remus moves forward and he leans in, a gentle kiss falling on Sirius' eager lips.
"And I've always been yours," Remus murmurs. "I'll boss you around a bit, because I'm enjoying this and I'm sure you are too. But when we get to the bed, I fully expect you to push me down, do whatever you want to me."
"Whatever I want? Can I tie you to the headboard?" Sirius teases? Judging from Remus' expression, that's a yes and could this night get any better?
"Trousers off. Now," Remus orders. Sirius complies, but this time he puts them over the chair too, and earns a smile from Remus. Remus' gaze slowly drags down Sirius' body, taking it all in. "And the boxers." His voice cracks as he says this, and Sirius slowly starts to remove them.
"My turn," Remus whispers. "Should I do it, or do you want to?"
Sirius steps closer. "I'm not missing out a chance to remove that sexy cardigan and finally see what's underneath." He pauses, however, a hand moving to Remus' face. "Did I tell you that I'm madly in love with you?"
Remus smiles. "You may have mentioned, but I like hearing it."
"Maybe later we can talk about moving in together," Sirius says. Remus' hands move up, long fingers dancing over Sirius' sides and stomach.
"We already do," Remus points out. "Do you mean sharing a room?"
"Yeah. Your room is bigger. Mine could be a study? Comfy chairs and bookcases too?"
Remus laughs. "Sounds good. Do we need to talk about this now?"
"I just wanted to make sure that we never have to spend a night apart ever again," Sirius murmurs. His fingers slide down. "You good?"
"Perfect," Remus admits. "Hurry up and take my clothes off, because I expect you to be on your knees."
Sirius fumbles with Remus' clothes, too eager to obey. He doesn't hide his enthusiasm. He's eager to move this along, to do something he's fantasised about alone in bed.
"Anything that is a turn-off for you?" Remus checks. "Things I should avoid? Things you'd very much like?"
"I think it's my turn to find out a few of your likes," Sirius insists, not pausing in his attempts to strip Remus of all of his clothes. He knows Remus is self-conscious of the scars that remain from the car accident he was in when he was a child. He glances up as he drops down to his knees, his grey eyes meeting Amber. Remus' gaze is already blown and Sirius hasn't even started yet. "Tell me all your secrets, let me know you," he murmurs.
Fingers wind into his hair. "You'll know me, don't you worry."
As they lay in bed afterwards, Remus curled up against Sirius' chest, snoring lightly, Sirius tries to go to sleep himself. He can't stop thinking about what just happened. How amazing every moment, every touch, every kiss had been.
This is it for him. This is his future, and he's never felt more fulfilled. Not because of the sex. But because in his eyes, this means everything. It's their moving on from the friendship to something more. It's the promises they've made to each other. The way Remus looked at him. Everything.
"So, you can just boss him around to do anything and he likes it?" James checks.
Remus shakes his head. "No, that's not how it works. He's not there to cater to me, James. I just tell him if he's got something to do around the house - rather than sitting and hoping he does it without me having to ask. Oh. And also I order him around in the bedroom."
"Really, how does that go?" James pushes.
Remus raises an eyebrow. "I boss him around until he's so turned on, he presses me down into the mattress and fucks me."
James almost spits out his drink. "You can't say that here."
"You asked," Remus pointed out, an amused smile on his lips.
"Not like that. I mean… It is pretty hot. Regulus can be bossy, I just want to know how it works."
Remus laughs. "Just tell him to order you around. Regulus will figure it out pretty easily."
"So, it's going well?" James checks. "You're both happy, right?"
Remus nods. "I've been in love with Sirius for years. Knowing he feels the same… it's amazing. I've never been happier. I know we've got an amazing future together, we've already talked a little about it. Kids, marriage. Everything. We haven't talked about when, but there's no rush."
"I'm happy for you both," James says, with a wide smile. "Can't believe I never realised, but when I found out - it occurred to me how completely perfect you are for each other."
