Chapter 59: A Rescue In Kamino
In Space...
The Defender Class Light Corvette and the Ghost flew away from Yavin 4 and then jumped into hyperspace.
Inside the Defender Class Light Corvette...
Ferus left the corvette in auto pilot before he sat around with Zack, Gwen, 'Nadia', Lisa, Luke, Rex and R2-KT to discuss the plan of rescuing Nadia.
Gwen looked at Rex.
"Rex, is it true that Kamino is where the clone troopers were made?"Gwen asked.
"Yes, Gwen."Rex answered. "All my brothers and I were created in this very planet."
"This is also where your real mother is being held."Ferus added sourly.
"Dad..."Zack said.
'Nadia' was quiet for a moment before pressing a button to reveal a hologram of Kamino and it's locations.
"Kamino after the Clone Wars has become there were rumours spread throughout the Imperial ranks that the cloning facilities in Kamino were to be closed down."Rex explained. "But Kamino's clone production was in danger of becoming obsolete under the Galactic Empire and did still trained the last batch of clones and that was it."
"That's bad in every possible way since the place also has deadly droids in the area."Lisa complemented.
"They're still not something we Jedi can't break apart."Zack stated.
"I think it would be best to split up in this operation."Nadia insisted. "I go with Ferus, KT goes with Zack and Gwen while Luke and Lisa will go together."
"Are you sure about this?"Lisa asked.
"It's the only think I can think of."Nadia declared and looked at the Aomori children. "You just ready to clean up after me."
"Is it a good idea for me to come?"Luke questioned. "I'm not a jedi yet."
"Don't worry, Luke."Ferus assured. "Your sister will make sure to help you out while me and Nadia go save the real her."
A beeping sound was heard in the corvette's small screen causing the group to become alarmed and go back to their seats.
"We've arrived to Kamino."Rex admitted.
R2-KT let out a nervous beep.
In Kamino...
It was raining heavily as the Defender Class Light Corvette arrived into its atmosphere.
When the ship hid beneath a big cloud, the ramp of the corvette opened causing the five jedi wearing helmets and R2-KT to jump out.
As they fell faster to Timira City and the rain drops hitting their bodies, the jedi used the Force to easy their fall before landing in front of the city.
Suddenly a group of stormtroopers and jumptroopers arrived with blasters causing the five Jedi to activate their lightsabers to attack them.
Ferus, Zack and Gwen slashed down a few stormtroopers before 'Nadia' unleashed her force lightening to take down the jump troopers that were blasting at her.
"Jedi!"A stormtrooper shouted in his comlink. "They've come for-"
Lisa quickly slashed the stormtrooper down just before he could finish his sentence as Luke took down the one that was going to shoot his sister with his blue lightsaber.
"Nice move."Lisa chuckled.
"Thanks."Luke responded with a smile.
The group headed over to the door which was locked tight.
"KT, open the door."Ferus ordered.
R2-KT walked up to the door and took out her little hand to open the entrance.
When the door opened, the group began running inside and soon found themselves in a hallway surrounded by big glass windows.
"Everyone, duck!"Zack shouted.
Everyone ducked down as a flamethrower blasted out from one of the glass windows and they spotted a carbonite war droid accompanied by three AT-STs and a few stormtroopers.
Lisa, Luke, Gwen and Zack immediately went down to take care of the imperial droids.
"Gwen!"Ferus called out. "Zack!"
"Go, dad!"Gwen insisted and activated her lightsabers. "We'll take it from here!"
"Be careful of all you!"'Nadia' instructed.
"Let's go!"Ferus ordered.
'Nadia' and R2-KT followed after Ferus as they made their way to their destination.
Ferus and 'Nadia' arrived to the command center only to run into four riot troopers that were waiting for them.
The riot troopers activated their staff as they charged towards the two Jedi.
"Halt, rebel scum!"A riot trooper demanded.
"Put your weapons-"A riot trooper started.
Nadia unleashed her force lightening to zap the energy from the riot troopers to kill them as bit more blood appeared in her nose.
The black haired woman suddenly felt dizzy once she took down the riot troopers causing Ferus to quickly grab her in his arms.
"Are you alright?"Ferud asked in concern. "I've never seen you like this before."
"I'm fine."'Nadia' lied with a small smile. "Let's get going."
R2-KT came out of her hiding place beeping nervously as she slowly followed the two Jedi into an elevator that will take them to the next floor.
Zack contacted Ferus in his comlink.
"Dad, we are in the Security Center not far from you!"Lisa declared. "After we take out these imperials, we'll deactivate the security in your center!"
"Lisa!"Ezra shouted. "We need you in the front! More-"
Suddenly the connection in the comlink ended causing Ferus and 'Nadia' looked at each other as R2-KT let out a low beep.
The elevator arrived to the top floor, but the hallway seeped a bit darker than the rest.
The trio headed to the entrance at the end of the hallway and found themselves in a cloning facility that was within Timira City.
"What is this place?"Ferus asked.
Nadia paled a bit.
"This is..."Nadia started.
When Ferus and Nadia took a few steps forward, a few jumptroopers emerged from below and started firing at them with their blasters.
Ferus and Nadia hid behind a few crates before blocking the laser attacks with their lightsabers.
The two jedi then launched themselves forward and slashed the jet packs on the jumptroopers' backs, sending them to their deaths below.
R2-KT beeped and released a small hologram of Hera.
"Ferus, we were able to hold off the backup."Hera declared. "Have you found Nadia?"
"Not yet, but I sense she is close by."Ferus stated. "We'll be back soon."
Suddenly the hologram of Hera started buzzing and the twi'lek general disappeared from view.
'Nadia' looked at R2-KT handed a small radar to her.
"KT head back to the others."'Nadia' instructed. "This radar will help you find their location."
R2-KT beeped and made her way out before the two adults went up the clone facility and saw figurines trapped in water tank tubes.
"Vader's cloning an army."Ferus whispered in shock. "They're..."
"Like me."'Nadia' finished with a glare. "They're strong in the Force."
Suddenly two empty bacta tanks were thrown towards Ferus and 'Nadia' causing them to jump to another platform just before they were hit.
The two Jedi turned around and saw Darth Vader standing in the platform above them.
"Hello, Anakin."Ferus retorted with a glare. "It's been a while."
"I knew it was only a matter of time you would learn the truth before you arrived here."Darth Vader replied and looked at 'Nadia'. "Now you will surrender to me or you will die here where you were created."
'Nadia' scowled while Ferus narrowed his eyes at his former brother-in-law.
Darth Vader used the force to release unfinished male clones from their bacta tanka and the experiments activated their own lightsabers to attack the duo.
Ferus and 'Nadia' immediately started fighting the clones as Darth Vader watched from above.
'Nadia' quickly dodged the blade slashes from the clones she was fighting with while Ferus quickly took down two clones with his blade.
Then 'Nadia' used the force to jump to a platform that the Sith Lord stood in.
"You are one of many."Darth Vader stated grimly and activated his red lightsaber. "You will die like the rest."
"Let's see about that."'Nadia' insisted with a glare.
Meanwhile...
The Defender Class Light Corvette and the Ghost fought the TIE fighters in the sky while the other rebels took down the stormtroopers and droids in their path.
R2-KT carefully made her way out and nearly freaked, but quickly went behind a few crates when a jumptrooper helmet nearly hit her.
Back in the Clone Faculty...
'Nadia' clashed her lightsabers with Darth Vader's red lightsaber as they duelled against each other.
Ferus used the force with his free hand to take out the last of the clones before he looked above him to see 'Nadia' struggling while duelling with Vader.
"Ferus!"'Nadia' shouted. "Go! Nadia is in one of the tanks above you!"
Ferus looked at the clone of his wife with a hint of worry before heading where she told him to go.
The jedi knight jumped from platform to platform and quickly slashing down the two Sith droids that were trying to block his path.
Ferus froze in shock when he saw the bacta tank filled with a chunk of ice in front of him.
Inside the chunk of ice was a woman with black hair wearing a long white gown, her eyes were closed and was missing her left leg.
It was a real Nadia trapped in an ice tank.
"Nadia."Ferus thought. "It's you. The real you."
Ferus used his lightsaber to carefully cut open the bacta tank before realising his unconscious wife from where she stood.
The jedi knight quickly caught Nadia in his arm and placed his cloak around her body.
Suddenly a female cry rang out and Ferus turned around, just in time to see 'Nadia' being thrown not far from where she stood.
'Nadia' gritted her teeth of the pain she felt in her body and blood appeared out of her nose as Darth Vader arrived while riding on top of a TIE fighter.
"You are not a human."Darth Vader retorted as he landed in front of the trio. "You're a thing. You're an experiment."
'Nadia' wiped away the blood in her nose and glared at the Sith Lord.
"You lie."'Nadia' muttered. "You lie about everything."
Ferus carefully placed his wife down and activated his lightsaber.
"Leave her alone, Anakin!"Ferus demanded angrily. "It's me you want! Not her!"
"The name that you just said means nothing to me."Darth Vader declared cruelly. "But I'll make sure to break you a thousands time, jedi scum."
Ferus scoffed as a fake smile grew on his face.
"I never wanted to fight you."Ferus stated and clenched his lightsaber. "But I will do what I have to do!"
Ferus lunges at Darth Vader with a defiant shout and their blades came into contact.
The Sith Lord started swinging his lightsaber at Ferus and the jedi knight raise his blade to deflect his strikes while 'Nadia' stood next to the unconscious Jedi.
Darth Vader then reaches out and grabs Ferus with the Force causing me to grunt in alarm, before he slams him against the ground harshly.
Ferus groaned as he watched Vader approach him.
"Fool."Darth Vader scowled in a cold tone and raised his red blade. "Prepare to die."
"Leave him alone!"'Nadia' snapped
'Nadia' raises her arms and unleashed a powerful blast of Force lightning that directly hit the Dark Lord.
However, the clone woman's Force lightning attack started to weaken which caused Darth Vader to stab his lightsaber right into her stomach.
"NOOOO!"Ferus roared out.
Ferus stood up and rushed towards Darth Vader before using the Force to throw him away from the platform he stood and send him crashing into the bacta tanks below.
The jedi knight slowly patted before rushing over to the wounded 'Nadia' and held her in his arms.
'Nadia' coughed out blood from her mouth as she struggled to breath.
"Nadia, come on!"Ferus demanded. "Hang in there. I'll take you to a doctor!"
"I...I...I can't."'Nadia' whimpered in pain. "It's too late f...f...for me."
"You shouldn't be moving."Ferus instructed. "Don't talk."
"A...All...I wanted...w...was to be useful to you."'Nadia' cried. "I...I..."
Ferus held 'Nadia''s hand tightly as she struggled to touch his face.
"Come on, hang in there!"Ferus begged. "Please!"
"I...I'm...s...s...sorry, F-Ferus."'Nadia' sobbed weakly. "For the pain, the anger and everything. I...I...l...love you..."
The clone Nadia's voice cleared off and closed her eyes forever.
Tears started developing in Ferus' eyes at the death of his wife's clone.
"You've done enough."Ferus whispered in sorrow. "You have done enough."
Ferus picked up 'Nadia's lightsabers and placed them in his belt.
Suddenly a crashing sound was heard below the platform beneath Ferus' feet causing him to become alarmed and quickly rushed over to pick his wife in a bridal style.
"Time for us to go."Ferus declared.
Ferus, with Nadia in his arms, did a high jump and quickly made his escape as Darth Vader watched him with rage.
Outside Timira City...
Rex opened the ramp of the Defender Class Light Corvette as Luke, Lisa, Gwen, Zack and R2-KT rushed over it.
"Come on!"Zeb shouted. "Move it!"
"We'll see you guys later!"Ezra stated.
"No problem!"Lisa assured. "Go!"
Ezra and Zeb quickly went inside the Ghost before it took off in the sky.
Ferus was running as fast as he could as he avoided the blasts from the stormtroopers that was trying to shoot him and Nadia.
"Jump, Ferus!"Rex ordered.
At the last second, Ferus did a big leap and landed safely inside the ramp of the Defender Class Light Corvette with Nadia safely in his arms.
"Ferus, you did it!"Luke remarked. "You got Nadia back!"
"Thank goodness."Lisa said with a small smile.
"Mum."Gwen whispered in relief.
Zack and Gwen looked at their birth mother and was startled to see her left leg missing before they realised someone was missing.
"But where is..."Zack started.
Ferus closed his eyes and shook his head slowly causing Luke, Lisa, Zack and Gwen to look down in sadness.
R2-KT let out a sad beep at Nadia's death as Rex turned to look at the group.
"Everyone get into your seats."Rex ordered. "We're getting out of here."
Ferus held Nadia as he went to sit down as Luke, Lisa, Gwen and Zack fastened their seat belt in time before Rex flew the Defender Class Light Corvette away from Kamino and into hyperspace.
