Chapter 9: Prison Rescue

Hal, David, Kilowog, Sora, Ven, Penny, Bolt, Jenny, Brian, Ahsoka, and Barriss had recently creature an alien who had somehow snuck aboard the Interceptor.

"Okay, squid. Start talking. Kilowog here loves seafood and he has a good appetite." Hal said.

"Uhhh. What?" Kilowog ask in confusion.

"It's a saying on earth. Good cop, hungry cop." Hal said.

"Don't you mean the good cop bad cop routine." David said.

"Gogan will not go back! The prison. Gogan had escaped. Spend ten years digging through tunnels." Gogan said.

"Wait! You escaped from the prison?" Penny asks.

"You're going back!" Kilowog said.

"NO! Gogan will not go back. The spiders torture me, revealing the worst pains. They replayed again and again." Gogan said.

"Something tells me that the prison we've picked turned out to be a mistake." Ahsoka said.

"Either that or the Rock back on Earth." Jenny commented.

"I say good riddance of that red. Let him rot!" Kilowog said.

"We can't just leave him to suffer the same fate." Brian said.

"Brian's right. Even though Razer is a Red Lantern, he is not considered a criminal." Barriss added.

"We are Green Lanterns. We have our duty to protect people. Even if they are criminals." Hal said.

"Intriguing, but criminals must be punished. Surely the prisoners deserve their fate." Aya said.

"They deserve justice and sometimes punishment, but not torture." Hal said to A.I.

"You mean we're heading back to the prison?" Ven asks.

"We don't have a choice." Sora said.

"Hal, we're going to save Razer aren't we?" David asks his uncle.

"Yes, we are." Hal replied.

"Count us in" His nephew said.

The Interceptor turns around and heads back to the Spider Guild Prison to investigate.

"It's worst than death! You won't last a minute in there!" Goggan objected.

"Ahsoka, Barriss, Bolt, Penny, Jenny, & Brian. You guys stay with Aya and Goggan. Give us two hours to investigate. If we don't return, go on without us." David said.

Those who were told to stay on the ship nod as David goes with Hal, Kilowog, Sora, and Ven. Outside of the ship, Hal and David head for the prison to search for clues. They reach to an empty cell with a machine.

"Well, that is one way for the guards to have entertaiment." Hal said.

"This is more then just a rehab center. It is more like a gulag." David said.

"Yeah. Whoever was in, was scratching his out." Sora said referring to the large scratches on the device.

"Jordan, do you get the feeling that these rocks make you shiver?" Kilowog asks, referring to rocks on the ceiling.

"We should find Razer before-" Ven said before spider gaurds appear behind them.

Hal aims his ring to fire at the guard but nothing happens.

"I'm pretty sure that my ring was ninety percent fully charged." He spoke.

"None of our rings work!" Sora exclaimed.

"We're doomed." David muttered.

Soon the group was captured by the guards.

Back on the Interceptor, Goggan was getting anxious on the waiting. So do Penny and others.

"It's been two hours. They are dead already!" Goggan exclaimed.

"Negative. We will continue to wait." Aya said.

"I appreciate your concern, Aya, but David, Hal and the others still have not returned," Barriss said.

"We've been waiting here for too long!" Brian said.

"If they are dead yet, they will be soon! Even worse than death!" Goggan panicked.

"Unacceptable. Immediate action is required." Aya said.

"We're coming too." Penny said.

Ayay releases an energy probe which leaves the Interceptor with Penny, Bolt, Jenny, Brian, Ahsoka, and Barriss following her. They head down the tunnel before they reach a two-way path.

"Which way do we go?" Brian asks.

"We should split into two groups." Penny suggested.

"I will go with Aya, Ahsoka, and Barriss while Penny, Bolt, and Jenny go look for David and the others." Brian suggested.

The group splits up to do their objectives. Aya goes down a new path with Brian, Ahsoka, and Barriss following.

Meanwhile, Hal, Kilowog, David, Sora, and Kilowog were in a large catabomb but they are hanged upside down, and worst, they are in cucoons.

"I can't get out." David said while struggling.

"Me either." Sora said as he too tries to break free.

"We're upside down." Ven said.

"It doesn't make anything sense. Our rings are charged, but the only thing working is the universal translation." Kilowog said.

"My fellow Green Lanterns." The warden, Myglom, said approaching them "It is unpleasant for you to be in this position."

"You better let us go." Sora demanded.

"Oh no, my friend. You have not notice this until now." The warden points to the crystals above. We stumbled upon a rich planet of it nearby. Not only it does power and light the facility it also can nullify a Green Lantern's power ring."

"So you do run a gulag." Hal sternly spoke.

"We do not torture the prisoners," Myglom signals the guards to put headband devices on the Green Lanterns, "These devices force the wearer to relive the most painful moments again and again."

Sora and even Ven slightly gasp in horror. They remembered the worst tragedies in their memories.

"No..." Sora said.

"So that is what you got in store for us? A couple of bad dreams?" Kilowog asks.

"Oh no, no. The memories are only the beginning. After we treat our prisoners, we eat them alive." Myglom said.

"Eaten?!" Sora and Ven exclaimed as they struggle to break free.

"You will get what's coming!" David shouted.

The headband devices are turned on as the Green Lanterns begin to relive the worst pain moments as the warden laughs wickedly.

Meanwhile, Aya leads Penny, Bolt, Jenny, Brian, Ahsoka, and Barriss down another part of the hall before reaching to a cell door. Aya opens the door allowing them to head inside. They see Razer hanging on the machine. Like Hal, David, and the others, he too has a device on his head.

"Razer!" Penny said.

Aya knows what to do and goes inside the device.

[Razer's mind]

Razer had lost his wife, Ilana to an attack by the warlords. He was fuel with rage before being chosen by the Red Lantern Corps. After placing her on the bed they once shared together, Razer prepares to leave when the candles turn green. Aya takes the form of Ilana before speaking.

"Razer, listen to me: none of this is real. I am the Aya Program." She said.

"I know this is a fantasy, an illusion meant to only bring me pain. The memories keep replaying over in my head. They hurt, but I do not mind. I get to see her again, if it's one last time." Razer said.

"I need your help," Aya spoke urgently, "I cannot save, Hal, Kilowog, David, Sora, and Ventus without you. Some force is keeping out of the prison."

"The prison? What are the Green Lanterns even doing here?" He asked in shock.

"They heard the prisoners were being tortured here, and Hal thought it was unacceptable. They came back to investigate, and to save you if it was true." She explained.

"They shouldn't have done that! I deserve to be here! I helped destroy an entire world. All those people died because of me!"

"No. Kilowog and David's group were able to rescue the settlers before the planet was destroyed."

"What? Then I didn't... It does not matter. I'm still the one who pressed the button. In my heart, I'm guilty of murder. I'm going to stay."

Aya's eyes are narrowed in disapproval, "What you want is irrelavent."

[Reality]

Aya released the bonds and Razer is free. He falls to the floor before he was helped by Penny and the others.

"I will never forgive this." Razer said to Aya.

"I have seen your past and known your pain." Aya said.

"No one knows my pain. Certainly not a machine." He said before turning to the other Green Lanterns.

"If you're willing to help, the time is now." Penny said.

Aya leads Razer, Penny, Bolt, Jenny, Brian, Ahsoka, and Barriss out of the cell before reaching to the two way coridor.

"Where to?" Razer asks.

"Some forces are preventing for going in this direction, but I do believe that is where Hal, David, and the others are being held." Aya informed.

"And the other way?"

"That path leads to the ship."

Razer heads off to the ship.

"Razer!" Ahsoka exclaimed.

"What is he doing?!" Brian asked.

"No! You cannot leave them to die!" Aya exclaimed.

"Penny, what should we do?" Barriss asks.

"We got to help David." Penny replied, "Aya, return to the ship. Get it prepped up."

"Affirmative." Aya said as she returns to the Interceptor.

Penny leads the others to find David and the others.

Meanwhile, the Lanterns were tortured from the devices.

"NO! Kairi!" Sora exclaimed as he remembered the night when his home was attacked by the darkness.

"Aqua!" Ven exclaimed as he remembers his fight against Vanitas at the Keyblade Graveyard to save Aqua.

"Enough!" Myglom said, ordering the devices to stop. "These five need but a little tenderizing. Green Lanterns are best eaten... fresh."

"NO! I did not come this far just to be your meal!" David shouted angrily.

Just as Myglom goes to devour Hal, a red beam strikes the guards. Hal and the others turn to see Razer, fully in his Red Lantern uniform. Also, Penny, Bolt, Brian, Jenny, Ahsoka, and Barriss arrived too. Bolt fires his heat vision from his eyes, releasing captives from the cocoons.

"Great timing, kid." Hal said to Razer who fights off the Spider Guards.

Sora and Ven were surrounded by some guards before Sora swings his right hand back and to his surprise, his Keyblade appears.

"Whoa! I can still summon my Keyblade." He said in amazement. Ven does the same and he too has his weapon drawn out.

Sora and Ven are then surrounded by the guards before looking at each other and nod. They charge into the fray and attack the spiders.

Meanwhile, Penny, Bolt, Brian, Jenny, Ahsoka, and Barriss arrived and they see the action before they moved in to help the other Green Lanterns.

"Bolt, sic 'em!" Penny shouted to her dog. The white German Shepard growls at the Spider Guards before attacking them. Even though he does not have power from his dog collard/ring, he strikes them down with his super strength.

"I may not have my power from the ring, but I have the strength of a million and seventy men." Jenny said as she morphs her arms into twin blasters. She hovers in the air before shooting her weapons at the spiders.

A spider guard was knocked down, dropping his spear near Brian. He picks it up before seeing some guards threatening Ahsoka and Barriss. He charges in and attacks. The Padawans still have the Force and they push a few guards away into a wall or rocks when only one still stands. Brian charges in and attacks it, slamming the butt of the spear before knocking the creature down on the ground.

"You want some, Poozer?! There's plenty for everyone!" Kilowog shouted as he attacks some of the guards with a stalactite.

Mygolm was about to escape before being confronted by Hal.

"Thought you could leave without saying goodbye?" He asked.

"No. You had it all wrong!" The warden yelled and tries to attack Hal before he was beaten by him.

"I have been kicking butt long before I got this ring. And I have been squashing bugs before." Hal said.

Razer has defeated the last of the guards before removing his ring. Mygolm and the Spider Guards are defeated.

After a while, Boggan has become the new Warden until another will arrive in eighteen months. Hal knows that he and his friends will need info on the Red Lantern threat. David smiles knowing that Razer will be joining the crew on for the fight against the threat.
