Sparks of Rebellion

Chapter 60: The New Base

It was shivering cold in the remote, icy planet known as Hoth.

Most of its surface was covered with glaciers and frozen ice plains.

Another third of the planet was covered by oceans.

The temperature, although always frigid, was known to drop to -60°C come nightfall.

Despite it's freezing weather, the Planet Hoth was a perfect planet for the rebellion use to create a new base.

Lisa wore a simple white jumpsuit with a tan utility belt that held her lightsabers and her blonde hair was in an intricately looped hairstyle. She also wore fur laced combat boots and gloves along with a fur trimmed cloak, also with a hood that clasped at the neck.

"The weather is cold."Lisa thought and a sad smile crept up her face. "But at least your old clothes will keep me warm, mum."

The former Queen of Naboo made her way to the medical room where Nadia was talking to Ferus, Zack and Gwen.

Lisa stood outside the closed door to listen carefully to the conversation that was happening inside the room.

Nadia wore a silver shirt with matching trousers while her black hair was tied in a ponytail. A mechanical leg was placed on her missing left leg, so she could walk fully again.

The female jedi sat on a bed since her legs still needed to be check if they were functioning properly.

"Can somebody please tell me what has happened?"Nadia demanded. "Why are we in a remote planet? And what the hell happened to my leg?!"

"Nadia, we wanted to wait until you were strong enough."Ferus exclaimed with a hint of worry.

"That moment has passed."Nadia responded with a glare. "Get to the point."

"Mum, what was the last thing you remembered before we found you in Kamino?"Zack asked.

Nadia's eyes widen a bit and looked down with a troubled look before looking back at her family.

"I…I've been trying to piece that together."Nadia admitted. "I remember that I was hiding in a base with the surviving younglings from the old Jedi temple in Coruscant after the Empire rose to power. However, we were discovered by An, I mean Vader and his group of inquisitors."

Nadia started clenching her fists as tears started to developing her eyes.

"I tried to protect all the younglings, but I was powerless to face against all those monsters."Nadia added and looked at her two children. "I remember telling you two to run away while Vader held me in a force choke and collapsing me on the ground. I remembered feeling disgraced but then…nothing."

"That's right. They grabbed you and our kids."Ferus commented and rubbed the back of his neck before looking back at his wife. "The thing is, Nadia. That was fourteen years ago."

"WHAT?!"Nadia shouted in shock.

"Darth Sidious also known as the Emperor, he had you kidnapped."Gwen admitted. "He had your leg amputated."

"Why?"Nadia questioned. "To prevent me from walking?"

"No."Gwen responded. "They needed an endless supply of your DNA to perfect their human cloning process."

Nadia's face became filled with more shock as a realisation came to her head.

"So you're saying while I was trapped in a chunk of ice, a clone with my DNA was created to serve the Empire and everyone that I care for actually believed that I fell to the Dark Side?"Nadia questioned and looked at the children. "That clone took my place and has been living my life for almost fifteen years."

Zack and Gwen nodded at Nadia.

"Yeah."Zack agreed with a frown. "They grew her. Or rather force grew her."

"They programmed her with all your memories and skills."Gwen stated with a glare. "But worse…"

"The Empire spoon-fed me clues to your location."Ferus said and sat down on a bed. "You and the kids been missing for four months. I've been going crazy. So when I found you, I mean…the clone of you. I saw her dressed in black and slaughter innocent civilians with a few stormtroopers. But I had no idea it wasn't the real. The original you. No idea the Empire had stored you on ice in Kamino all this time."

Nadia was quiet as she took all the information in her head.

"Mum, I understand you don't want to lay hands on me and Gwen again."Zack assured with an apologetic look.

"You were always the side of the Jedi, so we should've known the woman raising us wasn't you."Gwen said in shame.

"I don't blame none of you, Zack and Gwen."Nadia assured. "Not even the clone. Seems to me the clone didn't do anything wrong. She didn't even ask to be created. Plus, she was forced to live a lie. I can't blame her for this."

Nadia suddenly grabbed Ferus by the shirt with a raged look on her face.

"But I can totally blame you!"Nadia snapped with a glare.

"Nadia, I..."Ferus started.

"I was your wife!"Nadia shouted. "The mother of your kids! How could you not know I had been replaced? How could you leave me in the Empire's hands for fourteen years? And how did I not see how blind you are?"

A hurtful look appeared on Ferus' face at Nadia's words.

"Get out."Nadia ordered.

"Nadia…"Ferus repeated.

"GET OUT!"Nadia yelled in anger.

Ferus immediately stood up from the bed and left the medical room with the door closing behind him, leaving Nadia along with her children.

Lisa quietly followed Ferus and found him in the hallway with his head looking down at the ground.

"It's a curse, isn't it?"Ferus asked sadly. "Having me for a father? I couldn't save anyone. Not even your own mother, Lisa. I am so useless."

Lisa hugged Ferus to comfort him though felt a bit hurt at the mention of her birth mother.

"I don't feel that way about you. I never did."Lisa assured with a firm look. "Not even Zack and Gwen. And trust me, I know Nadia doesn't feel that way either. Not really. You're a good man, Ferus. So get back in there. She needs you, whether she knows it or not. Walking away from her and the Rebellion won't do any good to you or your relationship with Nadia."

Ferus looked down and didn't respond to Lisa's words, unable to know what to do next.

It seems that Nadia won't be talking to Ferus for a while.

(Next is the beginning of the Empire Strikes Back)
