Curse of the Werefury

With Halloween just around the corner, I thought I'd create a bit of a spooky story that involves, well I guess you'll have to read it to find out what it involves, won't ya?

I do hope you like this story, I did make a slightly spooky story last year, Terror on Berk, that didn't go over as well as I had hoped, but hopefully you will like this better.

This story will be marked as M for mature because while it's not sexual in any way, it does get a tad bloody for Halloween's sake.

That's all, Enjoy!

It was a fairly calm evening on Dragon's Edge and Hiccup was out on his own, collecting wood that he can burn later as it was fall and starting to get colder. He was alone because sometimes he just feels the need to try to do things without Toothless or anyone else to help him.

Hiccup had just picked up a few blocks of wood from fallen trees when he hears something rustling in the bushes near him. He looks to the left, where he heard the sound, and finds nothing nearby, so he goes back to collecting the wood when, seconds later, he hears the snap of a tree branch being stepped on.

Looking again, he spots a nearby bush and after that snap, he was certain that something or someone was there. Hiccup calls out, "Hello? Is someone there?" The Moon was only in its 3/4 stage, so it wasn't completely dark but the bush was set in the shadows of a few trees, so visibility wasn't the easiest.

Seconds pass and he then hears a deep growling from the same bush as a pair of toxic green eyes lift up from the shadows. Sensing a bit of familiarity with those eyes, Hiccup asks, "Toothless? Is that you, bud? You know sneaking up on me like that doesn't work anymore." The creature in the shadows seemed to have a deeper, more feral growl to it, but Hiccup didn't think much of it.

That's when, out of nowhere, the creature leaps out of the bushes and the next thing Hiccup knew, he felt the pierce of razor-sharp teeth latch on and dig into his left shoulder, making him yell out in pain.

Minutes later, Astrid and Toothless, who heard Hiccup screaming, came rushing in and see Hiccup kneeling on the ground, holding his blood dripping shoulder from the pain. "Hiccup? Hiccup!" Astrid runs over and kneels before Hiccup.

Hiccup comments, "Took you long enough to get here."

Astrid asks, "Hiccup, what happened? Are you alright?" Toothless nudges Hiccup's side from concern.

"Oh yeah, just a little scratch, see?" He moves his hand to reveal his brown shirt was coated in blood.

Astrid has Toothless use a claw to carefully tear the shirt open, revealing a sizable bite mark that ran from the top of his shoulder to halfway to his elbows. "OH MY THOR!" Astrid yells out. "We gotta get you back to the Edge, quickly!"

Hiccup grunts from the pain and nods as Toothless helps him get up onto his back along with Astrid and they rush back to the Edge.

Once at the Edge, the other Dragon Riders and Toothless had gathered and Fishlegs was helping Hiccup get his wound patched up. He found that the bite was not deep enough to cause serious damage or need stitches, but it was still pretty bad.

While Fishlegs was finishing up, Astrid asks, "So, you never did tell us WHAT bit you."

Hiccup searches through his memory as best as he could, but replies, "That's because I don't know what it was. I heard a growling in the bushes near where you found me and did see these toxic green eyes, like Toothless's only…more venom-like."

Tuffnut comments, "Whoa, so Toothless bit Hiccup? I knew that this could happen one day. We must EXILE HIM!"

Hiccup shakes his head to that. "Toothless did not bite me. He would never, right bud?" Toothless grunts in confirmation while giving Tuffnut a death glare for even accusing him.

Fishlegs then comments, "I don't know, Hiccup. The spacing and depth of the marks, it does look kinda similar to Toothless's." That got a glare and even a tail smack on the top of the head from Toothless.

Hiccup replies, "Guys, it wasn't Toothless, I promise you. It was probably some lone wolf or something like that."

Snotlout then comments, "So, is this gonna be like when that wolf bit Tuffnut? Are we gonna have to deal with Hiccup thinking he's going to become some terrifying creature of the night while I go off to get bitten my a bunch of creatures to show what really bit him? Because I'm still a bit woozy from that sea slug bite."

Ruffnut raises her hand, "Dibs on locking Hiccup in the stables!"

Tuffnut raises his hand, "Dibs on taking Snotlout to get bitten!"

Hiccup replies, "Guys, I'm fine, really. This wound will heal up in a matter of weeks and we'll all be good. I promise you."

Snotlout shrugs. "Ok, but don't say we didn't say anything."

Later that night, Hiccup was tossing and turning in his sleep, making grunts and groans as something inside him was welling up.

He jerks his head back and forth on his pillows and moments later, his eyes jerk open, revealing a set of toxic green eyes with slitted pupils.

The next morning, Hiccup wakes up and sits up in his bed, feeling a massive headache. "Ah, my head." He comments.

He then hears Astrid calling from outside. "Hiccup!" Thinking this might be urgent, he throws on some clothes but realizes that, for some reason, he wasn't wearing his metal leg so he stumbles down onto the floor of his bedroom.

Finding that odd as he didn't remember taking off that leg the previous night, but still hearing the sounds of Astrid calling to him, Hiccup quickly slips the leg on along with his clothes and makes his way outside where he sees that the Edge was completely trashed.

Wood bridges were torn, boxes were turned over, large slash marks could be seen on the huts, the clubhouse and the dome and it was a total mess. "What the-? What happened? Did a tornado come through here last night and we didn't hear?"

Astrid replies, "I don't know, I woke up and saw this place like this too!"

They then hear Tuffnut comment, "Wow, finally this place is starting to look cooler!"

Ruffnut adds, "I'll say. I love the trashed look that we got going on."

Hiccup then sees Fishlegs near the clubhouse and he yells, "Uh, Hiccup? You might want to see this!"

Hiccup gets to the clubhouse as fast as he could where, on a stone wall just outside of the small hut, was a very familiar, circular burn mark. "Whoa, that looks like the burn mark of a…plasma blast." Hiccup turns around and all the other riders look to Toothless.

Toothless looks behind himself to Snotlout who comments, "Uh, pretty sure we're all looking at you."

Hiccup asks, "Toothless…did you do any of this?"

Toothless tries voicing his innocence but Snotlout comments, "Well, I think we all knew that this would eventually happen once we let a Night Fury live with us. I say we lock him up for good."

Toothless looks to Hiccup for support, but Hiccup shrugs. "I mean…the signs are there, bud. Who else could have made a burn mark like that? Plus the scratches around here are very similar in size and spacing to your claws."

Toothless couldn't believe what he was hearing, the very person that he has trusted with his life is now accusing him of destroying Dragon's Edge. Astrid then steps in and says, "Hold on, maybe this is just a misunderstanding."

Fishlegs adds, "I agree. I believe that there's no way Toothless would do any of this, even if he wanted to. Look, Hiccup, maybe you should just keep a closer eye on Toothless tonight."

Hiccup sighs. "You're right, I shouldn't jump to things like this so quickly." He kneels down and rubs Toothless's head. "I don't think this was you, bud. At least, not entirely. But just to be safe, I will keep a closer eye on you, got it?" Toothless grunts in acceptance.

Snotlout then comments, "Oh, so when Toothless is accused of destroying the Edge, it's fine, but when Hookfang is accused we all jump right on him."

Fishlegs then points out, "So, Hookfang didn't nearly burn down the dragon stables when he felt like he didn't get fed enough the other day?"

Snotlout grumbles before replying, "…Maybe."

So that night, Hiccup kept close watch on Toothless who, at that point, was just lying on his stone slab and seemed to be fully asleep. Deciding that he was probably just imagining things, Hiccup turns off the light and falls asleep.

Hours later, however, Astrid wakes up to the sound of something rumbling through one of the trash bins near her hut. Finding it odd, she leaves her hut and looks down, but couldn't make out anything from below the boards that her hut sat on, so she takes the lift down and gasps once she sees the bin.

Rummaging through the trash was a large, black dragon with bat-like wings and a very long tail. Astrid steps towards the dragon and asks, "Toothless? So it was you that destroyed Dragon's Edge last night, and here I defended you."

However, the dragon stops rummaging through the trash and looks up to Astrid with a venomous, slitted pupil look in its eyes. The dragon steps down and slowly moves towards Astrid, growling a ton. "Toothless?! Toothless, what are you doing?"

Just then, however, a dragon of the same appearance leaps down from the boards above and lands next to the first one. Astrid's eyes widen upon seeing the dual Night Furies. "Ok, I must be seeing double here. Wh-which one of you is the real Toothless?"

The second dragon then raises his tail, showing off the red prosthetic fin with a Viking symbol. Astrid nods to that. "Ok, you're definitely Toothless but then…who are you?" she asks the other Fury.

In a flash, the mysterious new Night Fury raises its head and roars up to The Moon and leaps up to the main level of The Edge and starts running into the forest. Astrid gets on Toothless and he takes her up to the same level where she spots Fishlegs, who had woken up and got out of his hut to see other Night Fury run past. "Astrid, what's going on?" Fishlegs asks.

Astrid just replies, "Wake up Hiccup and the others, we gotta chase down that Night Fury!" Fishlegs nods and goes to do just that.

Astrid, while flying on Toothless, chase down that Night Fury as best as they could, keeping a close distance as they weren't sure what it was planning on doing. At one point, however, the Night Fury turns a corner and they lose it. She has Toothless set down at the nearest opening and says, "Let's split up, we'll cover more ground that way." Toothless nods and they take different directions into the forest.

Astrid runs through the forest, a less-than easy feat considering how dark it was, but her survival senses told her exactly where to go and where to step. She hears the sound of a roar directed towards the sky, so she goes in that direction.

Astrid then gets to a small clearing. She then notices blood stains on the ground that made her realize this is exactly where she found Hiccup the other night after being bitten by an unknown assailant.

She then hears some rustling in the woods and out pops Tuffnut riding on a Night Fury. "Ha! Got it! You're ours now, you pesky beast."

Astrid sighs. "Look again, Tuffnut."

Tuffnut looks and sees the red tail fin that only Toothless wears and realizes just what he was doing. He gets off of Toothless and comments, "Uh…hey, T. Wonderful evening, wouldn't you say?" Toothless would've tail smacked Tuffnut so hard at that point if he didn't have other things on his mind.

Astrid then sees Fishlegs, Snotlout and Ruffnut running up as Ruffnut comments, "Smooth move bro."

Astrid then pauses to notice that Snotlout was wearing pajamas that had flames scattered around it. Snotlout looks down to realize it and tries to cover himself. "What? My normal night clothes were dirty."

Astrid then looks to see someone was missing from the group. "Wait, where's Hiccup? I thought he'd be the first to want to see a second Night Fury."

Fishlegs shrugs. "He wasn't in his hut. I don't know where he is, exactly."

Just then, however, the other Night Fury drops down from the trees and was growling at the Riders a ton. Toothless steps in front of them in a defensive position as Tuffnut comments, "Whoa, I must have been hit on my head pretty hard earlier because I swear I'm seeing two Night Furies."

Astrid then tries to reason with this new dragon. "Look, I don't know where you came from, but we are friends to dragons. Look, one of your kind trusts us, can't you see that?" The other Night Fury was still growling as much as before and was even opening its mouth to get ready to charge a plasma blast. "Oh, where's Hiccup when we need him? He probably would've had this guy tamed by now."

However, the other Night Fury then stops charging as its eyes widen. It looks back and sees the light of The Sun poking out from the horizon. Upon seeing this light, his eyes go from slitted pupiled dragon eyes down to more humanoid eyes.

The Dragon Riders stare as the beast digs its claws into the ground as they hear bones shifting and see scales retracting back into itself, revealing a pale human skin. The Night Fury's wings and tail also retract back, the bones in its hind legs shift to support a bipedal stance, the top of its head grows medium-length auburn hair and its left hind leg shrinks back into a stump.

Once all was said and done, the 5 Dragon Riders and Toothless stare to a completely naked boy on his knees with a decent sized bite mark on his left shoulder who was panting a ton.

Astrid rushes over to the boy's front and kneels before him saying, "…Hiccup? Hiccup, is that you?"

Hiccup blinks a few times before looking to Astrid. His head was throbbing, but he soon realized that he was completely naked in front of everyone else. He blinks and comments, "Uh…can anyone explain what is going on here?"

Once they got Hiccup some clothes, the Dragon Riders sit near Fishlegs's hut as they try to figure out what all that was. Astrid asks, "So, you don't remember anything from last night?"

Hiccup shakes his head. "Not a thing. I don't even remember leaving my hut last night. Find anything Fishlegs?" He asks to Fishlegs, who was looking through books to see if he can find any evidence as to what that was.

Fishlegs replies, "Still looking!"

Hiccup sighs. "Sure wish Gobber was here, he would probably know something about this."

Ruffnut then asks, "So, Hiccup, what was it like to be a Night Fury? Was it totally awesome eating trash and destroying everything?"

Hiccup replies, "As I said, Ruffnut, I don't remember anything from last night. I just remember going to sleep last night and the next thing I know I wake up to being naked in front of all of you." He then feels Toothless nudge his hand, giving him an expectant look. "What?" Hiccup asks before nodding. "Ok, you're right, I'm sorry for accusing you of doing any of this. Can you forgive me?" Toothless gives an expression of 'I'll consider it'

"Got it!" Fishlegs says as he exits the library in his hut holding a book. "I've got it!"

"What do you have, Fishlegs?" Hiccup asks.

"A legend that you aren't going to believe. The legend of the Werefury." Tuffnut tries to make the sound of lightning striking, but failed miserably.

Hiccup asks, "What's a…Werefury?"

Tuffnut asks, "Is that like that time Toothless forgot how to get back to Berk?"

Fishlegs replies, "Not that kind of were."

Tuffnut nods. "Oh…I still don't get it."

Fishlegs reads on, "A Werefury is a monster that is only told in legends." He holds up the book, showing a drawing of a creature that was a human male on the left and a Night Fury on the right. "By day, a Werefury takes the form of a normal human being, but when night falls it turns into a vicious dragon with twice the strength of a Night Fury that is capable of terrorizing a whole village and goes back to being human upon seeing sunlight."

Hiccup blinks to that and asks, "Ok…how does one become a Werefury?"

Snotlout then states. "AHA! I knew it, it was Toothless that bit you and that made you become this Werefury. I called it, no one believed me, so meh!" he sticks out his tongue.

Toothless gives Snotlout a death glare before Fishlegs says, "You don't need to worry, Toothless, it couldn't have been you. A person does not become a Werefury if bitten by a pure blood Night Fury, it has to be from someone who already has the curse."

Astrid comments, "Well, we're the only people who live on Dragon's Edge and I didn't see any of you guys as Night Furies last night, so it can't be any of us."

Hiccup adds, "And I guess whoever did bite me is long gone by now."

Fishlegs replies, "Not exactly. A Werefury's body strength and enhanced running speed are so high that its wing strength is basically nonexistent, so a Werefury cannot fly."

Hiccup thinks about that. "So…the Werefury that bit me could still be on this island?"

Astrid adds, "Or found some other way to get off of the island."

Fishlegs then adds, "There's more…if the person given the Werefury's curse is not cured by the next Full Moon, then the Werefury's curse will be…permanent."

They all pause for a moment upon hearing that piece of information. Astrid comments, "Full Moon? That's tomorrow night!"

Ruffnut comments, "Whoa, so by tomorrow night Hiccup will always become a deadly Night Fury at night? Well, I guess he'll have to give up his humanly possessions. I call his fire sword!"

Tuffnut adds, "I call-oh."

Hiccup shakes his head to that, "Ok, you said that there is a way to get rid of the curse, what is it?"

Fishlegs nods. "There's a few. One, we could find the one who gave Hiccup the curse and take them down with a weapon coated in eel slime, as eel is harmful to Werefuries, two, we could stab Hiccup with said weapon but that would end up killing Hiccup as well, and three, we could create a potion that Hiccup could take to end the curse."

Hiccup comments, "Well, none of us have seen the Werefury that bit me in the first place, and I'm interested in living so I'd say option C is out best bet. What's in the potion?"

Fishlegs reads a bit and comments, "Well…it looks like it's all things that we can find here, on The Edge, but there is one ingredient that I can't seem to figure out. Something labelled as…321-N."

Hiccup asks, "What is 321-N?"

Fishlegs replies, "I'll have to figure that out, in the meantime, why don't you guys look for the other ingredients?" The other riders are given separate lists of ingredients and they head out.

Hiccup, Astrid, Toothless and Stormfly were walking through the woods of Dragon's Edge, looking for one of the things on Fishlegs's list, purple oleander. At one point, however, Hiccup stops in his tracks, making Astrid look back and ask, "Hiccup? You ok?"

Hiccup lets out a deep sigh. "Astrid…if this potion doesn't work, or if Fishlegs can't produce it in time, then I want you to drive an eel slime covered dagger right through my skull or wherever you can get it."

Astrid's eyes widen to this comment and Toothless, who heard that as well, stops what he was doing to look at Hiccup with concern. Astrid slowly says. "Oh…" she stares into Hiccup's eyes and spots a look of shame. "Oh, you're serious! But…but that will-"

"Kill me, I know!" Hiccup nearly shouts. "Look, I can't live knowing that I'm a potential threat to everyone and everything on Dragon's Edge. I can't go to Berk to see Gothi either since there's no way we'd be able to get there before nightfall. I just…want to do what's best for everyone."

Astrid could see just how serious Hiccup was about this, how he was actually willing to sacrifice himself to save the riders and the Edge. She pats Hiccup on the shoulder and replies, "We will get you back to the real you. And if not…then I will consider the alternative." Toothless goes up to Hiccup and nuzzles him, letting him know that he doesn't want that to happen either.

Hiccup nods to that as Stormfly squawks out a response. She lifts a log and reveals the flower they were looking for, so Astrid picks it and puts it in the ingredients bag.

Later on, the Dragon Riders had gathered the ingredients they found on the work bench in Fishlegs's hut where he goes over the list. "Ok…purple oleander, dark spruce bark, poison ivy…"

Ruffnut comments while scratching herself, "How come Hiccup got to pick flowers while I had to deal with poison ivy?"

Fishlegs ignores Ruffnut and comments, "We're still missing that 321-N and I still haven't found out exactly what it is."

Tuffnut points out, "Maybe it's an optional ingredient, like the fish in my salt crusted fish."

Fishlegs shakes his head as he reads the book. "Nope. Says here it's the most important ingredient."

Astrid then points out, "Well, you better figure out what it is and how to get it soon. It's already late afternoon." Hiccup was especially getting worried about the time.

Fishlegs states, "I'll keep searching through books and see if I can find anything, but it could take more time."

Hiccup nods and looks out to the ocean where The Sun was already only a few feet above the horizon. He knows that, at this rate, there's no way he could be able to get that potion in time so he looks to Astrid and asks, "Astrid…there's something I want you to do for me." Astrid looks over in concern.

Completely blindfolded, Hiccup sits on Toothless behind Astrid as she steers him to a random location on the Edge's island. She has Toothless set down in a clearing where Hiccup gets off. Astrid then asks, "Are you sure you want to do this?"

Hiccup nods. "If I don't know where I am, then…he won't know either. This is what's best for all of us."

Astrid nods. "Alright, well, you be safe. If the potion isn't ready before then, then I'll look for you in the morning. I'll keep Stormfly, the others and their dragons on guard near any entrance to Dragon's Edge from the forest."

Hiccup nods. "Just what I was going to suggest." Before Astrid leaves, Hiccup reminds her, "And Astrid?...Don't forget what I said earlier."

Astrid nods to that. "Only if it really comes down to it. Let's go, Toothless." With that, Toothless takes one last look at Hiccup before taking off and heading back to The Edge. Once in the air, Toothless purrs a complaint to which Astrid pats his head. "I know…that's how I'm feeling too…but right now all we can do is wait and pray that Fishlegs figures this out before this gets too out of hand."

Once Astrid and Toothless return to Fishlegs's hut and go into the door, Fishlegs looks to them with excitement. "Hey! Just in time! I figured out what 321-N is."

Astrid replies, "Great! Is it something we can easily obtain?"

Fishlegs replies with a tone of concern in his voice. "You could say that…we actually have an unlimited supply all along." He picks up a knife and points it towards Toothless, who gets into a defensive position and starts growling at Fishlegs.

Astrid stands in front of Toothless asking, "Whoa whoa whoa, what are you doing?"

Fishlegs replies, "I know what this looks like, but that's just what 321-N is, Night Fury blood. I only need about an ounce." He holds up a book showing various numbers with letters and what sort of ingredient they correlate to. Next to the one labelled 321-N, is 'The blood of a Night Fury.'

Realizing what that mean, Astrid looks back to Toothless who was quite suspicious over having to give his blood. Astrid then reminds Toothless, "Remember, it's to save Hiccup."

He didn't forget the fact, but he did need that reminder. He looks to Fishlegs who nods to him. Now knowing there was no other option, Toothless extends his teeth and bites his left forepaw, going just deep enough to draw blood. Fishlegs quickly goes over and collects the amount of the dark red fluid he needed before saying. "Perfect! Now, let's just patch that up and-"

"There's no time!" Astrid states. "Look, it's almost sunset, and you know what that means."

Fishlegs looks out and sees The Sun just inches above the horizon, so he nods and says, "I'll get to work right away. You and the others find Hiccup and signal me once you do." Astrid nods, but before she leaves she asks, "Is there anything else about Werefuries I should know?"

Fishlegs replies as he looks through his book. "Well, they're afraid of direct light, eels, as I mentioned earlier, their hearing is incredibly sensitive and they can hear anything within 20 miles from where it's standing but because of this they also coward from loud bangs."

Astrid locks that into her memory before she gets back on Toothless to grab Stormfly, Snotlout, the twins and their dragons so they can split up and begin searching for Hiccup.

Meanwhile, once the sound of Toothless's wings flapping became distant enough, Hiccup took off the blindfold and saw that, sure enough, he was in the middle of the forest and had no idea how far he was from Dragon's Edge. Perfect.

He spent the past hour sat on a log, feeling anxious about what was to come and hoping that Fishlegs could finish this potion in time. He could see that it was almost sundown, so he lets out a sigh before saying, "I guess there's no stopping it now."

Seconds later, the sun had set and Hiccup began to feel a stirring inside him as his mind switches to a more feral state.

He gets down on all fours as his leg bones shift to a quadrupedal stance, his back and rear sprout wings and a tail that stretched to double his normal body length, his torso and limbs inflate with muscle that became covered in black scales, his head shifts to form a Night Fury form and finally his eyes jerk open, revealing the toxic green, slitted pupil eyes that released the beast inside.

With all that complete, Hiccup roars up to The Moon, which was now almost full, and begins to run off in a random direction at high speed.

Soaring through the air looking for Hiccup, Astrid hears a very distinctive roar in the forest where she left him and comments, "That's definitely a Night Fury roar." She steers Toothless to the spot where she left Hiccup, lands and gets off.

Astrid does a glance around and the only thing out of normal that she sees is Hiccup's tattered clothes and metal leg on the ground. Stormfly lands behind her, so she holds up the clothes for Stormfly and Toothless to sniff before they turn to the East and grunt.

Nodding, Astrid runs off in that direction, looking for any sign that Hiccup might be there, but heard nothing for about a mile.

That's when, moments later, she hears something big and angry drop down behind her. She slowly turns around and sees Hiccup in his Night Fury form, staring right at her with pencil thin pupils and giving off a near Earth-shaking growl.

Astrid steps back saying, "Hiccup! Hiccup, if you're still in there, then you have to fight this! This isn't you and you know it!"

Hiccup stares her down a bit longer before opening his mouth and the screeching sound of a Plasma Blast charging up was soon heard as the inside of his mouth begins to glow purple. Astrid runs to the right, just barely missing the blast as she runs as fast as she can, screaming all the while.

Astrid dodged the trees and bushes of the forest best as she could, while hearing the loud footsteps of Hiccup chasing her.

Astrid looks behind herself and sees Hiccup was only feet away from her as she thinks, 'What is this? Fishlegs said that Werefuries have incredible running speed, so why hasn't Hiccup caught up to me yet? Unless…'

Before she knew it, she wasn't paying attention long enough to nearly walk right off a cliff that hangs over the ocean below. She stares down at the 50 foot drop and watches as the waves crash into the sharp, jagged rocks below before turning around and seeing Hiccup right there.

She comments, "That's it, isn't it? You were just toying with me, trying to get me to a position where I could no longer run." She takes another step back, putting her right at the cliff's edge as the Werefury, Hiccup, stares her down.

Astrid says to Hiccup, "Hiccup…we can do this the easy way or the hard way, it's up to you." Continuing to stare Astrid down, Hiccup mouth begins to open again as he begins to charge another blast before Astrid comments, "Ok, hard way it is. NOW TOOTHLESS!"

Hiccup stops charging to look up as he sees Toothless dropping down from the trees above, but only to land a few feet to the right of where Hiccup was standing. Astrid stammers to that. "Wha…but…*sigh* See, this is why I suggested we rehearse this."

Hiccup takes a few steps forward, growling even harder as he begins to charge up that blast again, but that's when he heard the sound of banging metal that scared him away. Astrid looks up to see Snotlout and Hookfang coming in with Snotlout banging a sword with Hiccup's special shield with the twins and Barf & Belch right behind them.

Astrid lets out a deep sigh of relief as she says to Snotlout, "Cutting it close there, Snotlout."

Snotlout replies, "I would've been here sooner, but SOMEONE had to use the little Monstrous Nightmare's room." Hookfang rolls his eyes to that.

"Astrid!" Fishlegs yells as he comes in on Meatlug with a syringe containing a purple liquid. "Astrid, the potion is ready, but I was only able to make one dose."

Astrid nods. "Then we'll have to make it count, but first we need to find Hiccup again. Is there any way we can lure him?"

Fishlegs opens up his book where he found the legend of Werefuries and scans it, using only the moonlight to read it. "Yes, Werefuries are very much attracted to the smell of fresh fish."

Astrid nods, "Then it's time to go fishing."

Hiccup wanders through the forest, trying to find any way he can fill up the immense appetite he has built up from the transformation, that's when something tingles his Night Fury nose in the best way possible.

Hiccup follows the scent at lightning speed before noticing a clearing that had a big pile of fish sat in the middle. Normal Hiccup would've seen this as a trap from a mile away, but Werefury Hiccup saw this as a pile of tasty delights so he dives into the pile and begins eating as much as he could.

From the bushes nearby sat Astrid, Fishlegs, Toothless, Stormfly and Meatlug where the other riders and their dragons were in a separate bush.

Ruffnut whispers, "Now that is an impressive fish pile if I've ever seen one."

Tuffnut adds, "I'll say. Could use some salt, but I agree."

Snotlout loudly whispers, "Will you two shut it? You're gonna blow this whole thing for us!"

Tuffnut shrugs, "Hey, we're just ones to appreciate a well-made fish pile." Ruffnut nods to that.

Toothless steps in, intending to get at some of that fish, but Astrid stops him saying, "No, Toothless, we can't let Hiccup see us. Alright, we only have one shot at this. Fishlegs?"

Fishlegs hands her the potion and she loads it into the slingshot part of Hiccup's shield. She pulls it back and lines up the shot. Astrid asks, "Does it matter where I hit him?"

Fishlegs replies, "As long as it's not the wings or tail, as those are parts of Hiccup that he doesn't normally have, then you're fine."

Astrid nods and carefully aims for Hiccup's rear, finding it a challenge with his wings moving in the way and because it was still quite dark. Astrid takes a few more deep breaths before letting go of the bow and firing the syringe. The needle flies through the air and passes through the curve of his right wing where it strikes him right on the rear.

Hiccup roars out from the pain of having the needle go into him and he steps back as his head starts rapidly shaking back and forth. Astrid and the other Dragon Riders stand by as they hope that this works.

Seconds later, Hiccup's wings and tail shrink back into him, his paws shift and take on the form of hands and feet, his body shrinks down to his skinny human form, his left leg retracts into a stump, his scales slip into his body and it all ends with a big roar that is soon turned into Hiccup yelling out as his face shifts to his regular face.

Once all was done and Hiccup was back to his human self, he flops over to the side. Astrid, the other Dragon Riders and the dragons emerge from the bushes and gather around him as Astrid quickly covers his waist with part of his ripped-up shirt.

Astrid rolls Hiccup onto his back as she tries to get him to wake up. "Hiccup? Hiccup, are you there? Hiccup?!"

Moments later, Hiccup coughs a few times before opening his eyes, revealing his normal forest green eyes as he smiles and states, "Took you guys long enough."

Tears run down Astrid's face as she smiles hugs Hiccup tight. "It's good to have you back, Hiccup. The real you."

Hiccup pats her on the back. "It's good to be back." He then feels a large, wet nose lifting him from the back as he scratches Toothless's chin. "Hey, bud, glad to see you too. It's interesting, actually, I kind of feel like I have part of you inside of me now…that didn't sound weird, did it?"

Astrid replies, "Only if you look at it that way." She hugs him even tighter.

Fishlegs then comments, "It's too bad we never found out who bit you in the first place."

Hiccup nods to that. "Whoever it was, they're probably long gone by now. Well, I guess it's time to head ho-" Hiccup flops back as exhaustion from the previous nights had taken its toll. Astrid chuckles to that before loading him on Toothless and they head out to Hiccup's hut where they get Hiccup into his bed and Toothless snuggles up with his head resting on his leg.

Meanwhile, as the sun was starting to come up, another Night Fury was staring at Hiccup's window before, from the sunlight, it shifts and transforms into an older man with pointed, snow white hair. "So, Night Fury blood is the key, perfect."
