Greetings readers!

In honor of LadyNoir July, here I am with not only a LadyNoir parody, but specifically for this particular day of the month.

I was looking at the LadyNoir July 2021 prompt calendar earlier this month for any inspiration (I don't normally write by those prompts and follow them on the days they are meant for, but sometimes they help give me ideas for other stuff for any time of the year). And when I saw that day #24's theme was 'Rewrite the Stars,' I saw an opportunity. It's been a while since I wrote and posted a parody here and I've actually had this song in my folder for quite a while but haven't done anything with it. So if I was ever going to post it, this felt like the ideal time.

Patrolling Paris, running along the rooftops, swinging and/or vaulting from building to building under the night sky, alongside the most amazing girl he'd ever known sounded fun and romantic to Chat Noir.

He couldn't imagine a better evening.

And actually…neither could Ladybug.

The spotted heroine loved spending time with Chat. Usually whenever she saw him, there was an akuma or some other kind of dangerous situation that needed their undivided attention and focus. But during these night patrols, they were working at their own pace. Most of the time, there was no trouble, so usually they just spent the evening wondering the rooftops, chatting, and/or goofing around—while also keeping an ear open for any disturbances.

And honestly, sometimes these peaceful nights felt like dates. Getting to know Chat in this calmer setting where she wasn't making split second decisions was enjoyable and really eye-opening.

Chat wasn't just a clown in a cat suit. He was sweet, sensitive, charming, smart, and really amazing. In some ways, very similar to…

No. That was ridiculous. Chat and Adrien couldn't be more different.

They were both wonderful. Just in different ways.

Still. Her feelings for Chat were changing dramatically, and she was finding it harder and harder to scold him for flirting with her so much. She liked it, smiled and even let a blush overtake her cheeks, but then she'd remember who they were—who they were supposed to be—and then she'd scold him. But by then, it was too late. Chat had seen that what he was doing was finally starting to work, so holding back was the last thing he was going to do.

Sadly, this only made Ladybug's rejections harsher until she was practically yelling at him. She'd try to apologize and Chat understood where she was coming from, but that didn't mean he accepted it and stopped.

In his heart, he knew they were meant for each other. And he could tell she was starting to feel it too. So he was determined to not give up.

She knew it hurt Chat—it hurt her too—but as long as she was Ladybug, Marinette couldn't have a boyfriend. But could Ladybug?

No. She was a superhero, and Chat Noir was her partner. They couldn't go on actual dates.

He didn't know who she really was and she didn't know who he really was. Nor could they ever know. How could you have a real relationship under those circumstances?

On the roof of the Grand Palais exhibition hall, another such argument was taking place.

Chat was trying to be flirty—standing close to Ladybug, about to wrap his arms around her from behind. But she pushed them away.

"Chat, please," she said insistently and annoyed, taking several steps away from him. She looked back at him, seeing the dejected look on his face and his cat ears drooped. "We can't."

That wasn't a good enough answer for the feline hero. Not anymore. His face turned serious "Why not?"

"We're super heroes. We can't be a couple. We can't afford to be distracted with… feelings," she said, trying to leave no room for debate in her tone, but Chat still looked undeterred.

"So, what? I'm just supposed to pretend that I don't love you?"

"STOP…saying that," she shouted then quickly lowered her tone. Hearing him say things like that only made it more difficult. She paused, trying to cool herself down before opening her mouth again. "Everyone in Paris expects us to be a couple, but we can't. We're super heroes. Our love lives are not for their amusement."

"This isn't about them. This is about us. It's always been about us," he told her. Chat stepped closer to her, she stayed where she was, casting her eyes to the side. Chat looked down at her before taking her hand. "Who cares what anyone else thinks," he added quietly.

He cared about keeping Paris safe but when it came to his feelings, that was his business. No one else had any influence over that. Not the citizens, not his father. He loved her because that was what he wanted. And it was his choice to stay loyal to those feelings.

Ladybug's eyes glanced up at him for a split second before her hand was yanked out of his and grabbed her yoyo. After opening a hatch in the roof, she flung herself down into the dark hall.

Chat watched her go for a second before following. Extending his baton downward into the dark opening and slipping down. When he reached the floor, Chat shrank his baton to normal length and put it behind his lower back. While doing this, he spotted his lady, standing with her arms crossed in front of her—more like hugging herself—other in the shadows of a pillar on the other side of the room. Her back to him.

Although it was dark, the center of the exhibition hall floor was lit up in a big circle from the light of the moon coming in through the glass ceiling. Like a big, low lit spot light.

Chat walked across the center of the room until he reached her.

"Milady?" he asked, reaching a hand out. But before it touched her shoulder, she took a step forward, just out of his reach.

There was a pause between the two of them, then Ladybug said in a slightly choked voice, "We have a job to do. Defeat Shadowmoth. Protect Paris." She turned around, facing him with a stern expression but her eyes gave away her sadness. "That's who Ladybug and Chat Noir are," she added before walking pasted her partner.

But that wasn't the last of this conversation. Not this time.

This time, Chat had more to say.

Chat Noir:

You know I want you

(Ladybug stopped just passed him)

It's not a secret I try to hide

I know you want me

So don't keep saying our hands are tied.

(Ladybug kept walking forward until she was in the middle of room)

You claim it's not in the cards

But fate is pulling you miles away

And out of reach from me,

But you're here in my heart

So who can stop me if I decide that you're my destiny?

(Trying to block out her partner, Ladybug opened her bug-phone and looked for any recent crime alerts or akuma sightings. Just anything that would get them out of this conversation.

Chat turned and started walking over to her)

What if we rewrite the stars?

Say you were made to be mine

Nothing could keep us apart

You'd be the one I was meant to find.

(Chat grabbed Ladybug's hips and spun her to face him. They circled each other once before Ladybug trying turning away, but Chat grabbed her arm)

It's up to you, and it's up to me

No one can say what we get to be

(Chat lifted her arm and spun her around, making her finally smile. When she was pressed to his chest again, Chat reached a hand up and cupped her cheek. Ladybug lowered her bug-phone and snapped it closed, back into a yoyo)

So why don't we rewrite the stars?

Maybe the world could be ours… tonight

Before he could do anything else, Ladybug very discreetly threw her yoyo up behind her. When it latched onto something above, she pulled on the cord and launched herself up, away from Chat.

Chat blinked, not sure what just happened. He looked up, all around the shadowy corners of the hall for his lady. Which wasn't very hard with his night vision, but he couldn't spot her.

Then suddenly, he looked straight up above him and saw her slowly descending down to him, like an angel from heaven in a beam of moonlight. The end of her yoyo cord was wrapped securely around her waist but her arm held the cord a few feet above her, keeping her up right as she got lower and lower.

Ladybug:

You think it's easy?

You think I don't want to run to you?

But there are mountains

(Ladybug's feet finally touched the ground and she stood before Chat again. Chat walked up to her)

And there are doors that we can't walk through

(Ladybug grabbed his hands at his sides and raised them up over her head. When he lowered them, Chat's hands went right down to her waist. Then he leaned in and planted a quick kiss on her neck)

I know you're wondering why

Because we're able to be just you and me

(Meanwhile, Ladybug placed her hands on his shoulders and pushed herself up until she was hanging there, holding herself up on one shoulder. Chat looked up and locked eyes with her as she shifted over him to put her hand on his other should and held herself up from there.

Within these walls

(Ladybug then skirted behind him, holding both his shoulders, before shifting back to his front while turning herself to hang up side down)

But when we go outside,

You're gonna wake up and see that it was hopeless after all.

(As she started ascending back up, her hand extended down to Chat. Chat reached up to her. Unfortunately, only their fingers were able to touch—she wasn't close enough for him to fully grab her hand—for a second before she quickly ascended the rest of the way. Disappearing from his sight again.

Chat looked around for her again but couldn't spot her)

No one can rewrite the stars

(Ladybug came swinging at him from behind. He just managed to step back to avoid her crashing into him. He watched her momentum stop and she swung back toward him slower this time)

How can you say you'll be mine?

Everything keeps us apart

(Ready for her this time, Chat braced himself and let his lady crash into him, catching her in his arms. But the force still knocked him over, making the two tumble together, rolling over each other until they stopped in the middle of the room.

Chat landed on his back with Ladybug straddling his hips. Chat placed his hands on the sides of her hips. Ladybug quickly brushed her hand along his cheek—this made Chat purr for a moment)

And I'm not the one you were meant to find.

(Ladybug pulled her hand away and yanked on her cord, launching herself upward again, right off of her partner.

Chat looked up at her ascend again, but this time, he wasn't just gonna stand there like a fool while she spun literal circles around him. So the feline hero took out his baton and extended it up, riding the top of it upward to her)

It's not up to you

It's not up to me

When everyone tells us what we can be.

(As Chat caught up to her several feet into the air, Ladybug did a few aerial poses before Chat got closer and closer until he was right underneath her.

Chat pulled himself up further, locking his ankles around his staff while holding onto the top of his baton with his right hand.

As she fell down toward him, Chat caught her with her side on his shoulder while holding her leg with his only free hand. He swung her body down in front of him, where he pulled her to him, her back to his chest, wrapping his arm around her)

How can we rewrite the stars?

Say that the world can be ours… (Ladybug craned neck back against Chat's collar bone while bringing a hand up behind his head to quickly caress his soft blonde hair) …tonight.

Ladybug spun out from Chat, but still held onto the top of his hand that was holding his baton.

The two then leaned in closer to each other until the faces were inches apart. Chat wrapped his other arm around her while she did the same—her other hand reaching up to grab her yoyo cord above her.

Both:

All I want is to fly with you,

(Ladybug pulled on her yoyo string, making her go up, taking Chat with her. Chat held onto her so he wouldn't fall—being lifted, his staff was no longer supported on the floor and he didn't make it longer to make up the new elevation)

All I want is to fall with you,

(Chat quickly pressed the paw button on his staff that made it retract until it was about the length of a regular walking cane.

Ladybug let go of Chat with one hand so she could grab the staff, which made Chat slip down a bit, but he didn't fall. Ladybug held him up with them both holding the staff)

So just give me all of you.

Ladybug pulled on her yoyo string again—making it slowly start to lower them down a bit—before grabbing the staff with her other hand.

Chat looked up at her lovingly as she looked down at him with her big bluebell eyes, just as lovingly. As their slow descend started to pick up some speed, they starting to spin.

Ladybug: It feels impossible (Chat Noir: It's not impossible)

Ladybug: Is it impossible?

Both: Say that it's possible!

When Chat was just a foot or two from the ground, Ladybug let go of his staff, allowing him to land safely on his feet.

As she let go, Ladybug swung herself off across the room again—a bit higher up in the air—but stayed within sight of her partner.

Chat's eyes followed her as she circled the room. Ladybug's eyes stayed locked on him as she swung and kicked her legs in a walking motion.

Both:

How do we rewrite the stars?

Say you were made to be mine?

Nothing can keep us apart

Cause you are the one I was meant to find.

(Chat pointed his staff at her as she moved, then quickly made it shorter to put behind his back before running over to the side of the room. He climbed up one of the metal pillars until he was roughly at the same height as his lady. Then he turned to see her still swinging around, coming closer and closer to where he was)

It's up to you, and it's up to me

No one can say what we get to be

(When she was close enough, Chat jumped from the pillar, grabbing ahold of his lady's yoyo cord and wrapping his arm around her)

And why don't we rewrite the stars?

Changing the world to be ours…

The two swung together, clinging to the other, gazing into each other's eyes with adoration…and longing.

Both wanted to be with the other on a more intimate level. Chat felt nothing holding him back. But Ladybug did;

Duty.

Secrecy.

Responsibility.

Fear.

She wanted to be with Chat. He was everything to her. She still adored Adrien, but even she could admit that that was mostly an infatuation, better fueled by the fact that she actually knew him on a personal level because they went to the same school.

But it wasn't love.

Love was mutual. Adrien didn't love her back. But Chat did.

Still. They were superheroes. They couldn't afford to be distracted by relationships and dating. That was why she had to break up with Luka and stop trying to be with Adrien. They had to make sacrifices to ensure the safety of Paris and all of its people.

Even if it hurt them both.

Eventually, Ladybug's yoyo string lost most of its momentum and the two started to slow down. As they slowed, Ladybug lowered them down again until their feet were safely on the floor. Although they were standing on solid ground again, and Ladybug released her yoyo from its attachment on the ceiling and brought it back to her, Chat still kept his arm around her, grinning with joy.

There they stood. Chest to chest, eyes locked on the others. They were both breathing heavy from the acrobatics they just displayed. Both their hearts were racing; from the acrobatics and being so close.

Sadly, Ladybug broke the spell.

Ladybug:

You know I want you

Yes, it's a secret I've tried to hide.

But I can't have you

We're bound to break and my hands are tied.

Chat was still breathing heavily, but his grin fell as his lady stepped back from him, turned around, and walked away. When she was near the middle of the floor bathed in moonlight, she threw her yoyo out the open window above her and flung herself up and out.

This time, Chat didn't follow her.

He eventually left himself. But not until several minutes later, after he was sure his lady was long gone. Most likely back at her home, detransformed and getting ready for bed.

No. This wasn't the time or place to officiate their love for one another or reveal themselves. But it still hurt to wait. For both of them.

It was written in the stars that they were meant to be a team—an unstoppable force for good—but they'd rewrite that to suit their relationship when the time was right.

Perhaps after Shadowmoth was defeated. Both were at least hopeful that time would could.

Which was better than never.

I don't own any of Miraculous or the Greatest Showman.

I love this song. I love pretty much every song from 'The Greatest Showman.'

Bye for now ;) Stay safe, stay respectful, stay healthy, and stay tuned.
